The Jolly Thresher in Warrington

My wife and I popped into the Jolly Thresher for a 29th wedding anniversary lunch and we had a lovely time. The food was really lovely, freshly cooked, generous portions and piping hot. It was well worth the money. The drinks were very fairly priced, the Chilean Chardonnay was really good wine. We enjoyed the ambiance of the pub and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and recommend 100%.

Just had a Ciabata with roast of the day. Definitely wasn't today's roast, more like yesterday's. Even the dog didn't fancy it. Service was good.

We visited the Jolly Thresher for a family celebration, there was 11 of us in total. With various food allergies, gluten intolerances and a couple of vegans we were extremely well looked after. Nothing was to much for the staff, all orders came as ordered. We will visit again.

Only two disabled parking spots. could do with a couple more Everything else was excellent. We will go again.

Lovely pub and lovely service too. Always very friendly and a brilliant seating area outside. Many thanks to the lady who served us today. Didn't catch her name today but in the last couple of weeks on another occasion Georgia was so helpful. I've been a few times and always a great experience. Looking forward to coming back soon

Lovely pub, great food, and a super beer garden. Kids loved playing football at the back. The whole family enjoyed their afternoon there.

I would highly recommend The Jolly Thresher. It is a traditional pub and is beautifully decorated. The food is lovely - I would recommend the Sunday roast dinners. The food is piping hot and the portions are very generous. The service is excellent - the staff are all very helpful (e.g. they provided us with an allergen menu and accommodated our dietary requirements). There is a beautiful garden outside with plenty of outdoor seating. It is also a dog friendly pub!

This is becoming our favourite place to have a lovely meal with family well worth the trip from Widnes

We celebrated my dad’s 80th birthday in the tipi. Staff were so helpful and flexible. The food was amazing, the service was excellent and the venue looked beautiful. Thank you so much for a brilliant day.

Great value Sunday lunch and lovely seating inside and out... make the journey from WN7 to this pub for the service and quality of the food.

Regarded locally as one of the best gastro pubs in Warrington. I would agree.

We went on a Sunday at tea time and it was very busy so we did have to wait half hour but very much worth it. The Sunday dinner was amazing and wasn't just your typical veg. The menu also has a larger than normal non Sunday roast options which meant every one was happy!

Delicious food and super friendly staff. Also very dog ​​and child friendly. Highly recommended!

Our first time in this lovely pub and it certainly wont be the last !! The service was outstanding. The sunday roast platter was one of the best we have had,we ate in the lovely garden. We will be returning very soon.

A bit overpriced but it's Lymm so expected. I dont go often due to prices and small portions. Ok every now and again.

Great pub, great food great tam!

Every thing was as good as we expected, the food on the new menu was really good with the fish main course the speciality of the menu. That was followed by an adorable sweet, apple and damson crumble, wonderful. I only gave 4 star for service for two reasons, the waitron was very busy and did not have time to really talk to us about the menu, the other reason was our starter was very slow in coming due to some mix-up in communication. as we were very busy in catching up with each other, this was not of great concern. We enjoyed our meal and will certainly be returning. Thank you to the staff who made our meal a success.

Live a fair way away so don't go as often as we would like always a great place to go had booked a table this week for a specific time had to change the time on the day a quick phone call and all sorted,friendly staff great outside seating when it's nice weather

Busy, vibrant, welcoming pub. Great atmosphere. Staff and service fabulous ! Not the best Sunday roast in the area. Beef a bit tough, roast potatoes not the best and veg poor. My friend had burger and chips/ onion rings which she said was delicious. Would definitely go back but not for a Sunday Roast.

Fabulous restaurant, pub, and venue for gatherings. There’s a teepee for hire which we have used in the past. Perfect for special occasions. The staff are so professional super friendly, make you feel comfortable and are very accommodating for needs, can’t do enough to make your visits extra special. Had jerk chicken for lunch today and it was absolutely delicious. My first visit and I will definitely be back. Little gem of a place with the nicest staff.

Had a lovely lunch at the Jolly Thresher this week with three old friends. The service was exemplary and Craig looked after us very well. The food was delivered promptly and the menu choices were more than adequate. I had the gammon and others enjoyed their fish and chips. The place was clean and tidy and free from overbearing music! Will definitely return.

Went with 3 other friends. We were greeted within 30 seconds seconds of entering the building and shown to our table. We ordered drinks straight away. We were given a respectable waiting time to order our food, one of our party wasn't quite ready so we were given a further respectable waiting time to decide. When we did decide, the starter was there within minutes. Also did not have to wait long for our mains. Also, I noticed that a customer on the next table was unfamiliar with the menu, and a male member of the team explained the whole menu to him. All the team were very friendly, pleasant & polite. We will definitely be coming back.

Went for drinks only but we've had food here and it's top, friendly staff and great banter, nice place.

Stopped for some food after landing at Manchester airport. Lovely food - short rib of beef was well cooked, tender and tasty Scampi and chips were cooked well Fish and chips were a large portion

One of the best fixed menu lunches we have had - my mum and her friend, the three of us. Very good quality, piping hot food, great service - highly recommended for the lunch menu - not tried the main menu!

So as mentioned I had a bad day here at the jolly thresher a while ago but give them their due they offered to make it up to me but I’m not a freebie person so I took my family there to celebrate my 30th wedding anniversary and they have redeemed themselves outstanding food and service so going to go again Well done guys made our family very happy

Great family pub, friendly attentive staff, lovely food although my beef was quite chewy on this occasion. Don't let that put you off, the rest of the dish was delicious and the chicken is usually good as an alternative. Overall, great value, and an enjoyable experience, I would recommend this pub and I will return again soon.

We popped in for a drink and a chat with a friend. We didn't have food but early on Friday evening the pub had a good atmosphere.

Lovely Sunday dinner highly recommend

We had Sunday lunch at The Jolly Thresher with another family - 4 adults and 4 kids. We had a combination of roasts, burgers, and steaks. The food was delicious: good-sized portions, fresh, and well-cooked. What differentiates the restaurant was the level of service, which was attentive and personable. Nothing was too much trouble. It was very impressive considering how busy it was. Highly recommended!

Beautiful food, well presented & a lovely choice of menu, which is consistently of a high standard. The staff are so accommodating, friendly & efficient and the atmosphere is cosy, calm & relaxing. It's a pleasure to dine here.

Had a lovely meal last night for my partners birthday. Great food, beautifully cooked, hot and well presented. Very busy but the service was excellent. Welcoming and informative, friendly and efficient. It was a lovely atmosphere, staff busily looking after everyone, I was really impressed. Special mention to Heather. Great place, always friendly staff and great for the summer

Little gem of a place. Called in yesterday and the food, service and atmosphere was brilliant! The staff where very attentive and quick lifting glasses and plates. Good choice on the menu and the food was very good. It was icy and snowy outside and had a warm cozy atmosphere inside. Made to feel welcome and will definitely return next time I'm nearby!

A great pub. My car had broken down and I waited in the pub (for about 8 - 9 hours) whilst I waited for road side assistance. I stayed warm by the fire. The staff were so kind and friendly- checking in on progress and making sure I was ok. They let me use their phone charger. The food was delicious - I had the scallops, fries, the salmon fish cakes and the brownie. I definitely will return as my head office is close by. Couldn't have broken down in a better location. -6 outside but so lovely and warm inside.

So firstly I turned up in shorts in the middle Of a snow storm lol, regardless was made to feel very welcome and was greeted with a smile. I ordered the pork crackling starter and 10 ounce ribeye which I requested to cook blue. The steak was cooked to perfection was juicy and melted in your mouth was very well seasoned. The chips was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and came with a pepper gravy type sauce. Atmosphere was cosy and warm. All in all I had a very relaxed and pleasant meal here food was top tier for a pub lunch and I will definitely be back. Thankyou for being brilliant.

This was the First time we’ve visited the jolly Thresher Pub and Restaurant the staff The staff are excellent and the food Was excellent we’ll be back soon.

Just right for a balanced evening, good food, spacious yet cosy and intrigueing surrounds, the right balance of people, and the buzz of discussion in the background. Staff circulating without invading and food that sits at a pitch well above average, a measure above refined and yet avoids the realms snobbish pretense. Just right and not too pricey. Would certainly visit again.

The service at Jolly Thresher stood out as how service should be. In recent times we’ve noticed poor service at restaurants, lack of staff and a poor experience. But Jolly Thresher has kept a high level of staff with great service. Drinks came quick. Questions were answered and we were always checked on to see if we needed anything further. All with a smile too. Food was absolutely delicious too! It’s a lovely place. It’s warm, cosy and would be my perfect local pub if we lived nearer (it’s half way between us and friends who we met)

We are a family of five who had our Christmas Dinner at The Jolly Thresher. Over the last ten years we have tried various places but this one was certainly the best. Food was excellent. Staff were really helpful and very friendly so full marks for service. Can’t fault it. We will be back !!!

We were a group of 12 celebrating Christmas at the Jolly Thresher on Friday. Everything was excellent. The food was delicious with perfectly cooked turkey and trimmings. The Rock Choir was great and the atmosphere festive; a great start to Christmas. Special mention to our waitress Geli who looked after us extremely well. A memorable evening!

It’s a fancy place. The food is very tasty and the service is excellent. I think there are two point to improve: The first one is it stinks 😷 and this makes the experience a bit less enjoyable. The place needs more fresh air. The second thing is it had a cosy area for drinks and I loved it but when I visited it last time, I couldn’t see it. There were tables for food instead of this cosy area. Except those two points, I’d highly recommend for the food and drinks!

Absolutely loved our meal at the Jolly thresher, staff were so friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond., the bar man heard my Mum and I discussing the pump cider and without a word, gave us a taster to help us decide. First visit here, I was dismayed when we asked the waiter if he would ask the chef if he would cut up my disabled sons beef.He said the were too busy to do that.My son has cerebral palsy and dines out often.We have never encountered such an unhelpful attitude.

Wonderful experience in every way; the staff were friendly and professional, the service was excellent, and the menu choices, quality and presentation of the food was excellent too; definitely a place to return to but you would need to book because it is, unsurprisingly, very popular.

Very friendly staff; Food was good quality; nice atmosphere. Didn't really try the drinks but assume they'd be OK. It was a busy Sunday afternoon and we did have a couple of issues with our order not being correct - meals were replaced quickly with no fuss which was fine in the end.

Great all round dining experience. Visited this place a few times when living local and still do after moving further afield. The food as always was exceptional, the menu is nicely varied from your standard pub classics to food that is not often seen on pub grub menus nowadays such as a game pie or the Cumberland sausage so makes a change from the norm. Very busy when dining on a Sunday but standards are kept high and waiting time after ordering was minimal. Great staff, very friendly and attentive with a very well presented clean and tidy pub.

I recently organised my husbands funeral wake at the Jolly Thresher, and can honestly say that the staff and managers were brilliant. Nothing was to much trouble. I would highly recommend this venue for any family function. The food was plentiful and very tasty. They arrange for a staff member to be on call throughout the function, to help with anything that may be required. Thank you for your kind attention and support.

Lovely food and staff but come on guys portion sizes has shrunk massively in six months . Large fish and chips is now like small fish and chips and curry at an extra £1.95 for an egg cup full ( size about right for the small amount of chips ) . My wifes food was also lovely but tiny portions. Appreciate the cost of everything has gone up but I'd sooner pay another quid per meal than get a kids portion !

Came here for the first time with my partner, late lunch/early tea. Ordered from the lunch 2 set course menu and everything was immaculate! The scampi was fresh and hot, the steak was perfectly cooked. The desserts were scrummy and everything was the perfect portion for a hearty meal. All staff are lovely and attentive, and it's such a gorgeous place to go to! Will definitely be coming back!

What a lovely pub restaurant - we were served by Becca tonight. She is absolutely charming. Travelled down from Scotland and loved our dinner tonight with our wee granddaughter.

Had lunch here for three, great food and brilliant service from Lauren. French onion soup starter is a must, very well done indeed, we all had it. Highly recommend the Lowry beer as well. Will visit again for sure, good parking as well.

Family meet up. Buffet. Plenty of food, topped up. Tables in one area for us. Lovely garden we all sat out. Tables with brollies. Field with footie nets? Tee-pe in use by hen do? Very pleasant. Car park.

Me and my Father attended on the 11th for a last minute meal. Eveything was to perfection ! We were served by Becca who provided exceptional service and ensured all our needs were attended to. I enjoyed 3 of the appetisers and my Father had the fish and chips and we both devoured it all ! Would definitely recommend coming here for any occasion.

Our first time here, I'm gutted we haven't been before. The food was excellent I had the honey glazed bacon steak , cooked perfectly. Our waitress (keeley) was very cheerful and helpful. And it's a lovely pub.

Amazing food as usual. Amazing service as usual. Cannot recommend this place enough.

It was very disappointing after having visited the previous week. The staff are fantastic. Ordered the lamb dish. It came with a pesto sauce no jue or gravy making the dish extremely dry. Call me old fashioned I have never known lamb to not have a gravy. This made the meat extremely dry. Will not be returning in the future which is a shame for such a lovely place.

We sat outside to eat in the sun. There was a piduim for the staff to work from. The food was great, staff good too. I liked that there were some adult non alcoholic drinks and not just expensive bottles. I intend to go back.
