First camping trip pub we ever went into back in 93 aged 18. Sad to see it closed today. Major rebuild in progress and will be I recognisable. So I'll never see how it was again.
Disappointing birthday celebration meal for my wife.
While the service was good and the atmosphere was OK the food was poor.
The main couses were disappointing. The lasagne my wife ordered was particularly poor. It lacked meat, and the dish was swimming in oil. The dish was so poor, my wife only ate a couple of mouthfuls , and then we swapped dishes she had some of my Betullas pasta.
I got half way through the lasagne but gave up. It made such a poor impact I didn't want to eat anything else.
My kebab was tasty and good portion. But three others who ordered fish & chips had stomach pains shortly after. Fish batter felt way too greasy.. seems like oil hasnt been changed for a long time...
Also when having a takeway, it would be nice to get some napkins and at least a fork...
Wow! That sums it up pretty well. The food was out of this world. Honestly, one of the best Thai meals I have ever had. Great service and reasonably priced. I had prawn massaman and my partner had chicken penang. Beautifully cooked, great flavour and not too spicy. Thank you 🙂
The food was poor. The waiters were lovely and we were able to order rotis even though they weren’t on the menu. However the food was not good. We cook better curries at home.
Absolutely appalling experience — easily the rudest and most uncomfortable visit to a bar I’ve ever had.
We walked into what was a completely empty pub — and it became immediately clear why no one else was there. The woman behind the bar greeted us with all the warmth and enthusiasm of a parking ticket. She looked genuinely disappointed that anyone had dared walk through the door.
We were met with a flat, joyless “food or drinks?” — no welcome, no hello, just a sense that our presence was a problem. When we said we were interested in both, we were essentially shooed back outside and told the menus were “out there.” Charming.
Tried to ask what beers were on tap, as none were labeled. She didn’t even acknowledge the question. Just stared right through us like we weren’t even there.
Against all better judgment, we ordered a Coke and a lager. That’s when things somehow got worse. £8 for the two, which would be fine — if the Coke hadn’t been a warm, canned insult slapped down on the bar, and the lager a murky, sour-tasting swamp in a glass. Genuinely undrinkable — left half of it untouched.
Bring back the good sport please. All new changes are definitely not for the better.
Five of us had dinner here on New Year's Eve, and it was absolutely brilliant. The restaurant was very busy which was expected for it being New Year's Eve, but we were sat at a small table to have a drink until our booked table was available.
The staff were all lovely, very kind and constantly checked on us as we had our meal.
The Thai Green Curry was delicious - I did think it could have been a bit thicker, so added some rice to bulk it up, but the taste was amazing. The Hiney Duck was also very good. We will definitely be back next time.
From start to finish the staff were welcoming, it was a relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious. So glad we chose here and not elsewhere, will definitely come back.
We had a fabulous meal. Main courses were delicious. Deserts were huge ( could have had less and cheaper. But they were scrumptious!
One of the best meals we have had recently.
On holiday in the area and had my usual of a Chicken Dansak and a keema naan. Chicken tasted days old. Sauce was good but naan chewy and hard to eat. Group consensus was similar. Not great all round.
