Wow. What an absolute gem of a find! Great location. The service was impeccable, with special mentions for Hannah, Izzy and Gavin who were just fabulous and incredibly friendly throughout our stay. Breakfast was included and wow, we dined like kings and queens every breakfast! We also dined in the restaurant one of the evenings and the food was extremely high standard, so much so that I had to get two starters! The room was spacious, fresh and clean. Oh, and the bed are super comfy. It was like a home away from home! The bathroom is very modern and stocked with all the toiletries you need. I really liked that there are plug sockets on either side of the bed -- very handy! Upon arrival you will find a box of short bread and brownies in your room, all of which will just melt in your mouth! I cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be coming back! NB. There is a lot of parking available too which is always a plus and hard to come by in the Lakes.

We visited as a family of 4 with 2 children (3 & 7 months old). It was obvious on arrival that we were not welcomed or wanted. Although there is a kids menu, it was apparent that Children were not ideal for them and got the impression that adults or young couples were preferred. The restaurant area was very quiet with a lot of empty tables but we were put out of the way up the corner with a double buggy obviously blocking the door for staff to come in and out of the kitchen which wasnt ideal for them or us, but i think because of the worry of us making too much noise we were put there. We very quickly ate our meal and only had one drink and paid the bill. we were never asked if everything was okay or if there was an issue. If we had been made to feel welcome then we would have had 2-3 courses and more drinks which was a shame as the sunday lunch was nice. Wouldnt visit again.

We had a lovely table booked in the conservatory, its a lovely airy room. Plenty of room between the tables. The staff were all spot on, recapping on what the specials were(info was not written down so v impressive!). We had the morecambe bay shrimps, cauliflower fritters and tomato & red pepper soup. Main courses were the roast beef(v tender and delicious), minted lamb henry, seafood platter and the small fish & chips(2 sizes provided for the roast and fish & chips so good for the smaller diets). Everything came piping hot and scrummy! Desserts of choice- gluten free sticky toffee pud, trio if ice creams and the crumble of the day. Service was good, v friendly staff, reasonably priced. A great choice. Definitely give it a go!

Found this restaurant whilst on a bike ride in the area so decided to go for Sunday lunch the day after. We arrived at 6pm, we hadn’t booked a table and were told that they only had two tables available near the bar so we took one of those. Was good to hear as busy means good! There was the standard menu and then the specials board. We asked about the Sunday lunch but were advised they had sold out at 3pm and do most weeks. I went for the tomato soup and chipotle chicken my partner went for the same soup and lamb Henry. No complaints at all about the food, piping hot and delicious. I can see why this place was busy, the staff were in and out of the kitchen. Would definitely recommend.

We were in the area on holiday and only planned to go out for one meal so I spent a long time trolling through the local options to make sure I chose the best place and I was so glad I chose the pleasant inn as it was perfect. There are 3 separate areas to eat. A dog friendly section, a family area and an adult only section. This is a really good idea and works very well so you have to worry about trying to shush excited children! The dog friendly area was in the bar area and I was glad we didn’t have to sit there! The adult only area looks beautiful and is the bit with the black and white floor and the nice mustard chairs which you see in the website pictures. We were in the family area with our 14 and 5 year olds. It has wooden tables and amazing views. I could see the sea from my seat which was wonderful and the other side of the table could see fields and hills with cows. The staff were lovely and friendly. The range of specials was very interesting. My husband and son shared the dressed crab. The staff brought colouring things for our daughter. She had the chicken nuggets chips and beans and this is the thing that I really loved- they were actual proper chunks of chicken breast is fresh batter and not processed. She ate the lot! The pricing was pretty standard for current times. Sorry no pictures of the food as I was enjoying myself too much!

We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at the Pheasant Inn. The owners and staff were all welcoming and friendly. Our bedroom was modern with comfy beds, fridge with fresh milk and water. The evening meals were delicious and well cooked, although my husband and I found that the peas on different meals were like bullets, don’t like to leave and waste !! The Inn has an eating area for families and another for well behaved dogs. We ate in the beautiful conservatory which is adults only, sadly it got very noisy and just took the edge off our dining experience.

We came here whilst away in the Lake District. We were so impressed with both the service and quality of food. I had the garlic king prawns to start and chicken skewers as a main. The prawns were the nicest prawns I have ever eaten. Exceptional. The chicken was cooked beautifully and was so lovely as well. It was like butter! My partner had the halloumi to start followed by a specials main of chicken and ribs, which again were beautifully cooked. We both came away very full and agreed this is the best restaurant and meal we have had in a long time! Our service was outstanding, the staff were incredibly friendly and approachable, which is hard to find these days. The restaurant and the decor is stunning. We came midweek early evening and I’d say booking is recommended. I liked that they had a separate area to seat families with younger children, and it’s the first place I’ve been to that has a menu for older children such as teenagers for ‘young diners’. The main restaurant is lovely, nicely decorated, and tables well spaced out. The staff were really friendly and it had a nice relaxed atmosphere. OK so I'm not gonna lie I was warned the portions were tiny..... what on earth... no they are not... the food is amazing and so much variety. Gluten free options available which is rare to see so many options. Pre booked a table as advised on website. Lovely spacious room, I wasn't keen on the table space they were going to seat us in but when I asked for more room they more than happily helped out. The staff are amazing and so funny. We really enjoyed both times we jave been. Plenty of parking in their private car park. Easily accessible. Wheelchair access (notify when booking). Some outside seating with a view. Large window across dining area with same view. Prices are good ranging from lunch times course £11-17 and normal menu meals from £11-20. For two of us and 2 couses and a soft drink it was £45. Again price varies on if you do lunch or evening meal and specials. Specials board if full of options of which you may have fun trying to pronounce some of them ha.

In a word: EXCEPTIONAL! We called on the off-chance to book a couple of nights (after turning up to a dirty room at our expected location). Being Sunday and Monday nights, The Pheasant fortunately had space. Upon ringing up, Martin was very courteous and understanding of our difficulty. On arrival, Charlotte, the owners’ daughter, was most sympathetic and caring - we had had ‘one of those days’ and forgotten the toiletry bag; toothbrushes and toothpaste were readily brought up to us. Restaurant food that evening fortified - local, well-selected, flavoursome fayre cooked perfectly at a reasonable price. The decor in the restaurant is a joy to behold - taverna-esque with a subtle nod to the pheasant midst autumnal side panels. Breakfast was just as tasty and substantial.; Jackie and Amy were so friendly and helpful. The room was cosy - perfect for two - with a very comfy bed and the best power shower with decent toiletries to boot (maybe we hadn’t needed our bits after all!). Air con and remote control blinds with a large TV screen only added to our sense of worth as customers. The walk to Grange-over-Sands in the morning took us to a time often forgotten - where people smiled in the sunshine and were most friendly. This is a beautiful, unspoilt corner of the earth and The Pheasant is the ideal place to book and explore from. Thank you so much Keith and team! 😊

We went to the Pheasant Inn for a birthday lunch for my Grandmother's 90th birthday. We were greeted and shown to a table to a table to fit our party of 6 by very friendly staff. Sat down to a very clean table in a nice clean room overlooking the road. Menus were brought out, and the specials were explained to us. The waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and had had a good laugh as well. She also took the drinks orders at the same time. Ample time was given the peruse the menu. Not rushed at all, like some places I've been to. The freshly prepared food was brought out together, so no having to wait. I had the chicken breast stuffed with black pudding and covered in bacon served with roast potatoes and green beans. Absolutely fantastic! I can't comment on the price, as I did not pay, I would suggest though, that it was very good value for money. Top notch and very well worth the visit, devouring if necessary.

A very warm welcome from the staff, food was lovely. I personally found the menu although expansive lacked variety with to much familiarity with the spices and curries, not a criticism just an observation. Personally I would like to see a proper steak option espically with the lovely meat around, something like a 10oz ribeye with some great marbling would be fantastic. We will return with this venue and we will no doubt be welcomed In the same way. Staff are such a value to a business and they have it in spades congrats and well done

Very disappointed, been here several times and always had a decent meal. This time Sunday lunch plus burger and chips and one starter. Battered chip shop sausages for the starter at £9 was two of the smallest sausages with a dipping sauce and token greens. Sunday lunch was tiny , I had to hunt for the burger in the bun and when I asked for some more chips as I could count them on my fingers that were served. I was presented with a bill for an extra portion. When I complained and refused to pay the extra bill , my words just fell on deaf ears. Was not interested in hearing it. Such a shame hopefully a one off but a poor experience.

Called in as it was the first pub that looked welcoming, after coming from Chester, visiting a nearby garage to test drive a car. Was really glad to have found it. Melissa Jo was kind enough to find me a table to dine alone where I wouldn’t feel too uncomfortable; something most restaurants overlook but it was really appreciated. The food was great and Melissa Jo ensured I had what I needed and was able to settle up quickly before being on my way. A great experience, I’ve already recommended the place to colleagues who live nearby. Hospitality is still suffering the after effects of covid, with many places unable to recruit good people. I’ve experienced this in too many eateries of late. However, Melissa Jo was a fantastic asset to The Pheasant and seemed to enjoy her work which was a joy to see in the current climate. Thanks for a great meal and outstanding service!

We were lucky to have a lovely meal here during our holiday in the Lake District. It came recommended to us and I'm so glad we went! From me booking to us leaving, the service was fantastic! Good range of gluten free choices for my daughter who is coeliac. Lovely food and great, friendly staff!

Quite disappointing really. First of all we were given a table, looking straight at a corner of a room with a coffee machine by the door, which reminded me a lot of my old works canteen - we then saw that the store was use...

Brilliant owner and staff team. On arrival, they already knew where we were dining and asked if we had booked a taxi. Which we hadn't! The staff spent the next few hours trying to book us one, which they did. We ate a small lunch but so enjoyed the banter from the staff we stayed in the lounge for wine. Lunch was delicious as I like black pudding but both starters were cooked to our liking. Both lunch and dinner settings were very well attended so testament to how good the food is. The staff seemed to know all their names which is nice. Cannot thank the owner and staff for the reception we were given and the room was fab. Photoes to come.

Found this fantastic Inn by chance. Amazing food and service. Lots more choice on their house menus than on website. The Inn was lovely inside and everyone was very friendly definitely going back when next in area.

I had lunch and dinner here on the same day, first time solo and then with the family. I’d say the food, over both meals we had 8 different dishes, was a good 6/10 or 7/10. The service was 50/50 depending on the server. The main dining area was good for lunch and I booked it for dinner to, but was told on arrival that no under-12’s were allowed there and was shown to the table next to the kitchen. Overall an ok experience.

Shambolic Management, I have never been in a place where the staff worked so hard to turn customers away on the pretence that they were short staffed, I was appalled at the way they dealt with an elderly gentleman who visited the pub with his daughter to make a booking for dinner, the staff flatly refused to take a booking and told him that he'd have to turn up and take pot luck that there was availability, disgusting. A shame really because the beer was good and the food was ok, but the bar manager, thought he was doing customers a favour by accommodating them. He and the waitress were leaving to return to London, she was very pleasant by the way. Liked the atmosphere of the place, but the way customers were treated was a disgrace, I've never seen so many people spoken to in such a rude manor, hopefully his replacement will have a desire to be pleasant and accommodating.

Great hotel room a bit rustic and stuffy but what do you expect from a 400 year old house. Room location was still clean. The beer selection was very large and tasty, just like the breakfast..

Very disappointed, expensive food and drink and you have to serve yourself, even down to getting your own cutlery. Bar staff don’t seem busy enough to justify the lack of table service. Food was bland and very expensive, Thai red curry was tasteless and the sportsman platter tasted like it was reheated food, came out very fast. We used to love this pub but something has changed recently and we won’t be back. *updated* I am not too “grand and important” to not get my own cutlery , and have been to many lovely casual pubs in the Lakes, but if I’m paying £60+ I want a decent meal and won’t be spending it on the rubbish food and drink that was served in your pub thanks. Not a chance that food was fresh being brought out 5 mins after ordering and the empty tables spoke volumes. Maybe spend more time improving your food and service and less time insulting honest reviewers and you may have a chance of not going under. I for one will make sure I tell everyone not to bother wasting their money here.

An absolutely perfect place to rest and re-energise, with wonderful hospitality from Leon. Our food portions were plentiful and nourishing and drinks were refreshing and a fair price. Accommodation was just what we needed; all the essentials needed to recuperate. Very dog friendly and welcoming.

We had drinks, lunch and dinner for 2-3 days and loved the food, the bar, and eating on the deck overlooking the river. The scenery is terrific and the remodeled decor and deck were very comfortable. There were problems and confusion with food service everyday we were there, but the remodeling had just been completed, so some reorganizing was be expected. At times we saw pretty aggravated staff members trying their best. It was often hard to get any service at all on the deck as the bartender was expected to wait on tables (forget about clearing and cleaning them) as well as tend bar. I know running a restaurant is tough, and hiring seasonal staff must be even worse. I have no suggestions about how to improve, other than to say hire more staff!!! We very much enjoyed the food and drinks, and the atmosphere. We never did get to eat in the newly remodeled dining room. There was never enough staff to wait tables, but it couldn't have been better than the deck. However, had the weather been rainy or cold, this review might be quite different! Cheers. I do hope we are able to return some time.
