House of Siam in South Lakeland

Really really tasty meal. Would def recommend to others. Almost full restaurant when we were there. And had mango and sticky rice for pudding on their menu (which was beautiful!).

We rang up to order a takeaway recently. We ordered five dishes. 2 starters and 3 mains. We were told the total came to £80+?!? I then said we’d them back. After doing my maths it came to £65. Not to be trusted. Might be £15 to cut a fancy carrot.

Family food for mixed requirements/diets. Staff very friendly and helpful assisting in picking out certain dishes and which ones to have if we wanted it spicier. Would go again

This place isnt geared for the customer its geared purely for high resteraunt profit which is fine but its not sustainable ..starter platter at 24 quid is nothing more than 7 quids worth of deep fried food surrounded buy their signature fancy cut veg which nobody eats or wants! Onto the main courses which contains a huge sauce and fancy cut veg but very little meat at a cost of 13 -17 quid ... in my opinion theres other thai places near by who want to split the wealth unlike this place who are milking the tourist knowing they probably wont be back so f..em!

Walked in on New Years Day without a booking. The Restaurant was very busy but the staff were amazing and found a space for us. Wow the place was so busy and you could tell why - the food was fantastic. Really good food that took us back to when we visited Thailand - so authentic. Would highly recommend (though I would book next time). I also though it was very reasonably priced.

Had a fantastic meal 30/12/23 I don't eat much Thai due to lemongrass but I asked for a spicy dish without lemongrass and it was amazing and so hot 🌶️🥵 staff was great and place was busy.. Thanks for a great meal

My mother and I could not be bothered cooking, and I’m so glad we didn’t. I have walked past this restaurant more times than I’ve had hot dinners and I’m disappointed at myself it’s taken me 25 years to visit. The menu is very expensive, but the portion sizes are huge and the food is delicious, so worth it!!

Although the restaurant had a room downstairs and a room upstairs, it only seemed as if the upstairs room was open when we visited, which might be a problem if have a pram - not sure if there is a lift? Unfortunately our baby was kicking off big time for most of our time in this restaurant and we were unable to soothe her, so my husband and I took turns walking up and down the street outside while the other ate :-S I loved my delicious Siamesy cocktail :-) but unfortunately I was unable to eat the thai mushroom soup starter, which I love, as forgot to check if it was made with fish oil, which is the traditional way, as was so flustered with an overtired baby. All in all a very expensive meal, for one that we were unable to enjoy, but that wasn't the restaurants fault. We paid £62.80 for 1 soup, 2 main meals, 1 soft drink and 1 cocktail, including tip. Our main courses were tasty, however 1 of the meals we ordered did not say cashew nuts on the menu, yet when it arrived it did contain nuts. Luckily my husband sampled this first as that would have been the icing on the cake for my birthday meal out :-( Staff were lovely and helpful and the restaurant was clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Hopefully we'll get an opportunity to return some day and enjoy a meal (without the kiddies!) and sample some more of their speciality cocktails

Disappointed with food was expensive for what we got, the beef was very chewy and tough, and the sauces were so runny it was like gravy. Poor quality in our opinion

Called in for lunch today, great service and lovely staff however, not been for a while and portions seemed a lot smaller and way too expensive. Two main courses and two drinks £60.00. Good but wouldn't rush back.

My Wife and I ordered from here as a takeaway. We wanted to see what it was like, however having tasted the food we now know. We were both extremely disappointed with our meal. It was expensive for what it was, and didn’t taste of anything really. They even left bits of our order off. The food was watery and bland, my wife said it tasted like a Sharwoods packet mix. The spicy chips were unseasoned and the spice consisted of a few bits of chopped up chilli, and were dry. It was so uninspiring that my wife cannot remember what she had 20 minutes after eating it!. We have given 2 stars rather than one as the staff were friendly and we didn’t complain to the restaurant directly. Overall we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

I really like Siam - and as a local it’s the Thai we’d recommend to our friends when visiting. I’ve found that some things can be hit and miss though. For example I had the pork dumplings to start and they were amazing - but my partner had spring rolls and said he suspected they’d been microwaved as the texture wasn’t quite right. The mains we all beautiful, though pretty pricey - you’d expect for those prices that the dishes would come with rice etc but you have to order that separately. Another thing that bugs me in there is the lack of ice - I ordered a gin and tonic and it had 3 small ice cubes in it. Which isn’t really enough - drinking room temperature spirits wasn’t for me. However I do like their beer selection. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, but we did have to ask for more drinks as empty glasses were just sitting on the table for quite a while. I would recommend this place though - the food has always been lovely for me!

Avoid if you have any dietary needs such as being vegan We had booked and asked to be outside as it was a hot day. My husband and I are both vegan. I am allergic to milk. The waitresses were lovely and very helpful to show us what we could have / adapt. I took their advhme and ordered a pad Thai with tofu and no egg. When my pad Thai came it had egg in. I realised after eating a lump of it. They apologies and toon it away. 10 mins later it came out again. This time it had chicken in it…. In the end I gave up as my husband had finished and our baby was getting irritable as we had been waiting in the heat for a long time. I went to slice in my way back to the apartment, it was great. They took my food off the bill but it ruined the meal and it had been booked for my husbands birthday, so really disappointed. My husband has waited for my meal to come back so his was cold and we paid for drinks… for almost £50 for a bad experience. Also the toilets were very grubby It’s a shame as it could be really nice - but I would avoid at all costs now.
