Authentic Indian fare suitable for the Indian palate. Staff very courteous and accommodated our special requests for a young child. Takeaway twice in two evenings and thoroughly enjoyed!

Nice place and very tasty food. Big portions. We tried many dishes but Tika chicken mint yoghurt and naan bread with cheese and onion were the best.

Thank you for a really nice meal this evening, Working a long way from home and staying in Kendal turned up not dressed the smartest but still made to feel welcome. Had a really lovely meal one of the best curry’s I’ve had in a long while (And I’ve had a fair few). Draught Cobra was really good too. Thanks again was a really enjoyable meal.

No where near compared to what you would get in Mumbai, but compared to what we get in UK it was not bad. A bit costly though. Ordered chicken shahlik which had about 8 chicken cubes and then a roasted onion, 2 tomatoes and red pepper for £20! For 3 mains, 2 nans, 2 parathas and 2 cobra the bill was £80. I guess midlands is bit economical and tasty. Parathas was from Shan's frozen pack, put some effort in cooking mate:(

Food was decent but 20 pounds a head for a curry and a soft drink was considerably more than we pay in Birmingham for this level of Indian restaurant. Perhaps we don't know how lucky we are.

Food not to my taste. Starter was not hot enough and curry was well not for me The restaurant was quite cold didn't take our coats off.

Came here for my birthday meal with my boyfriend as we’ve never tried it before. The food was insanely good. I can definitely recommend the vegetable madras, it was gorgeous! He also really enjoyed his butter chicken. We also had a spicy popadom (which I would call more aromatic than spicy but it was a pleasant surprise!), veg samosa, butter naan and a side of tarka dal (which did end up being too garlicky for me in the end). The food was delicious, we found it very well priced. Service was prompt also ☺️ I’m sure we will return at some point in the future 🥰

We were the only couple in, which was a shame, great food and the service was top class. These businesses need custom or they won't survive.

Decent place in Kendal for South Asian food. A bit on the expensive side and the food took a while to arrive, however it was tasty once we got it.

Quite quiet on arrival. Ambience improved after a wee while. The food was really good and the staff were very attentive.

Exceptional quality, but a bit expensive. The chicken was fresh and juicy, the onion bhaji so light and fluffy that it practically blew away, so even the kids stuffed themselves. But at about £12-13 for a main it can't be the staple curry supply.

Clean & tidy place with friendly attentive staff. Went with 3 friends for dinner and very much enjoyed the mixed platter starter, not cheap but well worth the price just below £25, for the amount of food presented. The pilau rice & nan breads were good but I confess I was not too impressed with the main dish as I felt it was over sauced & lacked substance when compared with other Indian restaurants I have used.

Really enjoyable meal out. Food looked and tasted delicious with each dish actually tasting like individual meals packed with flavour. Service was also wonderful with waiters being extremely polite and food coming fast.

Slightly on the spicy side. Being from India, I can make out the difference between traditional Indian cuisine vs something which is not. This is not but having said that it is not bad. If you are looking for Indian-ish cuisine, this is ok for that.

Menu looked a tad expensive because we were on a works away budget, so was Conservative what we ordered,, but OMG bloody amazing taste amazing food, would love to go back not on a budget and smash the whole menu, 👍👍 amazing 10/10

This service of the restaurant is good and staff are very nice and polite . While the name says Mumbai restaurant , the dishes (vegetarian) are not Indian flavor. In my view it tastes more from Bangladeshi cuisine. Nevertheless , it was still good. Limited options for vegetarian, but would definitely recommend to try .

Most horrible taste of Indian food. It's an insult to Indian cuisine. Pretend to be Indian restaurant but nowhere the taste seemed to be Indian. My Bhuna dish was full of sweet stuff with loads of chilli to kill the sweetness . Avoid this place if you can and go to McDonald's instead . Atleast you get what you order. Horrible staff and rubbish food. Don't want to give even one star

Went to have a nice evening meal but greatly disappointed. Ordered Meat samosa and received veg samosa. Taste was horrible. Never ordered beer but the waiter came with two glasses of beer. Total mess. Returned the drinks and samosa. Meat Bhuna was full of chilli and sugar. No salad was served with food. Staff was horrible instead of apology started arguing. They are not Indian chef but using Indian food menu to make customer fool. Charge you top dollar for the ru bish food. Stay waway from this place and save your money and time. Taste of hell on earth.

Very nice experience here on a quiet evening which was very peaceful. A rather clumsy service to begin with but apart from that it was very well done! The starters provide a large substantial quantity of food which was cooked perfectly and presented very neatly. Drinks came quick and efficiently and I really enjoyed a delicious main course. Food here is perfect didn't have any issues. It has excellent potential in the future, just lacking quality in the service slightly but overall a very nice night out, would certainly recommend and I'd definitely go back again.

Daal was good Chapati was no where near to fresh made one. it could have been lot better if the chef makes the chapati from fresh dough

(sorry no photos, I was too eager tucking into dee-licious food! 🤤) I had a vegetable Pathia and Garlic naan, plus a Vegetable Samosa... and the samosa was good, but the Pathia was a taste sensation! My wife enjoyed a vegetable Bhuna & mushroom rice (which I tried, the rice was superb!) She also had a tarka dahl and loved it all. We'd eaten at a different Asian retaurant last night in Kendal and been unimpressed, with both the flavours, and the bill wasn't exactly cheap. Tonight at the Mumbai we had one drink, but otherwise the same number of dishes between us -and the bill was £10 cheaper! We will definitely be eating here again the next time we're in Kendal, superb! 👌

Nice food but staff not very friendly no kids menu when I asked for it was told bluntly by bar staff. we arrived 10 minutes early i asked if we could wait in foyer which they weren't keen on but seemed to let a large group later just stand there with no problem....felt very rushed when ordering and I had to ask can we start with a drink? The younger waiter who served our food was very nice pity the older staff don't follow this.

Despite being full to the rafters, the team managed to seat me and my friend without a reservation. They were exceedingly busy that night but patient and polite throughout. Service was quick and the food was excellent.

Had not booked but was made welcome and not rushed. Despite being busy food was excellent and came out in a reasonable time.

First visit, friendly welcome nice choice of dishes at a reasonable price. Sharing starter was well worth the money. Would visit again if in the area.

Dinner with my family on 18 August whilst vacating in the area. Overall good service and edible food. The wine list is limited.

Popadoms were a little stale but main courses very good. Peas pilau made at special request. Wine was quality and reasonable value.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by the manager of the shop, very late delays, no customer service respect, absolutely disgusted from the behaviour. Wouldn’t suggest to any family people.

On a long weekend trip to Kendal we fancied a curry so we went to the Mumbai. It was Friday night & we hadn’t booked but we managed to get a table and the restaurant quickly filled up. The service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was lively, and prices were pretty reasonable. My husband had chicken vindaloo and I had chicken sashlik, both were delicious. I’d definitely recommend the Mumbai :)

Visited Mumbai Restaurant and I have got to say it was better than I had expected. I’ve visited a lot of Indian places but by far the service here was on point. I ordered the Lamb Handi Saag and you could smell the different spices straight away, the portion size was filling too. The naan bread was cooked to perfection and the size was definitely enough for more than one person. I will be visiting next time I’m in Kendal spot on !

Fantastic food the madras was perfect to my exact taste lovely starters and sides also all with a top class service from a friendly team.

Visiting Kendal for the day and came across this restaurant. They were able to accomodate a table for 3 without booking but it was a sunday evening. The food was great no issues with that, portion sizes were big enough to fill you but not stuff which was also nice. The service was ok, a mixed bag but nothing majorly horrendous. The only negative was the price. Almost £20 each for a curry and pint is a bit steep. Over all a good meal though.

Staff are friendly and professional, Food was absolutely incredible, such a positive environment and would definitely go back highly recommend.

I ordered a Special Biriyani and a Chicken Malai masala as my main and a portion of the onion bhajis as well as some Seekh Kebabs , I must say this was one of the best biriyani's I have ever had and i have tried biryanis in Kolkata. The biriyani had a mixture of spices and you could really taste the flavour in the chicken and meat. The malai Masala was an amazing treat the curry was extremely flavoursome and the chicken was tender. The seekh kebabs were so juicy and tasty you could tell they were made fresh and had a beautiful smoky flavour. i was told they are made in the tandoori oven which made it even more authentic. A 10& discount was generous too.

Always have a meal (or takeaway right now) from here, when working in the area. Food always fresh and tasty. Nice people. Highly recommended.

Nos topamos con el Mumbai anoche después de que cancelaran nuestra reserva en otro lugar. ¡Afortunadamente tenían espacio ya que teníamos un curry realmente bueno! El entrante de pollo Tikka estaba fresco, no seco ni recocido. Langostino Puri tenía una rica salsa deliciosa con 2 langostinos muy grandes, ¡encantador! El pollo con ají y ajo estaba muy bien condimentado, no demasiado pesado, ¡grande en ajo! Los lados de Okra y Saag Aloo también son sabrosos. El naan fue el más ligero que he probado nunca: fresco y no grasoso. Con un servicio amable y buenos precios, ¡qué no le gustará!

Adhering to social distancing rules and great food as well. To get 5 stars you need to start keeping some proper "real ale" type beer instead of just lots of different lagers. 50% of people prefer real beer.

Comimos aquí anoche, aprovechando, Comer fuera para ayudar. Llegamos a tiempo y nos llevaron directamente a nuestra mesa. Nuestro camarero estaba bien informado cuando preguntamos cómo se servían las cosas aquí (todos los restaurantes son ligeramente diferentes). La comida era buena y todo estaba según lo ordenado, estaban muy ocupados, por lo que algunos errores podían excusarse, pero no tuvimos ninguno. Los precios eran los esperados y justos. Volveremos la próxima vez que visitemos Kendal.

Enjoyed a lovely meal. Buttered chicken and korma dishes were really nice and the service was good. Had no concerns about their covid measures.

Fuimos a tomar una copa en otro lugar y volvimos a las 20. 30 nuevamente dijeron que la mesa no estaba lista podrían ser otros 15 minutos no es el mejor comienzo. Le explicamos al barman que no estábamos más contentos y no estábamos felices de esperar otros 15 minutos, lo que pareció empujarlos a limpiar una mesa. Al restaurante le vendría bien volver a decorar, especialmente la ruta a los baños. Tampoco hubo distanciamiento social en el restaurante.La comida era bastante buena, no la mejor ni la peor. Probaría un indio diferente la próxima vez.

Friday night spur of the moment curry, this is when you wish you had checked out the competition before committing, the layout and toilets gave me an indication not to expect much, by then we had ordered 🙁

During the busy first week of 'Eat out to help out' we had unfortunately we had been let down by another Indian restaurant in the area, Eastern Balti, who didn't have a table until 9pm, as we arrived to discover they had given our table away. Fortunately, despite the lateness and Mambai closing at 10.30pm, they were extremely help and said they could squeeze us in. We arrived and had fantastic service, despite them clearly being exhausted after a very busy day with the new scheme and we did not feel rushed when they were preparing to close as we finished up our meal/bill when approaching 10.30 (their closing time). I'd highly recommend this restaurant over Eastern Balti if you are visiting Kendall as a tourist after a busy day mid week during the 'help out to eat out' scheme period for their reliability and excellent service.

My wife and I visited Mumbai in Kendal tonight, we have been to indian restaurants all over the country, this is one of the very best. My wife had the king prawn on puri and it was amazing, the bread so light, it was just amazing. The food was delightful and service very good. Can’t wait to try this place again.
