Jintana Thai Restaurant, Bowness on Windermere in South Lakeland

We had a wonderful evening meal here. The food was excellent and service was fabulous. It was a real bonus to be able to bring our dog too, who was made to feel very welcome. (If you have a dog, let them know in advance as you will need a table on the ground floor). We will definitely be returning. The pineapple tamarind rice is amazing.

I have always loved Jintana Bowness & Ambleside. Meal in Bowness Pad-Sei-Su stir fried noodles beef & Pad Kee Mao drunken noodles chicken, we should have just asked for vegetarian as there was very little beef or chicken not even 5 pieces on each dish and what there was, was very small. Over priced mixed vegetable side dish £8.95. Noodles were tasty. Would we now return NO. very disappointed.

Our starter was disappointing as the meat was clearly off - this was taken off our bill. The mains were average and lacked depth in flavour. However, the staff were pleasant.

Excellent authentic Thai food and friendly service. Particularly enjoyed the Larb Gai which was fresh and flavourful

Have been to this restaurant on a few occasions in the past but feel it has gone downhill a bit. The lady who greeted us seemed a bit overwhelmed with showing people to there tables and taking bookings. The cost of the food to the size of the portions is quite expensive. The quality of the food was average, you may get away with it in a tourist town but not in any of the big cities. £22 for an eight item platter is extortionate!

Whilst on holiday in Bowness, stopped here for lunch , lovely find - we are thai food coniseurs and found the food here to be excellent. Chicken green curry for my husband and vegetable red curry for myself - both dishes were 10/10 - big portions and reasonably priced. Excellent service too - very attentive and friendly.

An average place to eat. Food fine but overpriced. We had the shared starter. It was £22 for two of us and was so small. We had a beef stir fry main course and salad. The beef was tender. The sticky rice looked like it was microwaved and stuck in a block. Very chewy. The prawns in the salad were tasty and well cooked. The staff were very friendly. Overall a mixed bag.

We had dinner here last night and it was really good It’s probably worth more than 4 stars but probably not 5 The food is really great but the portions on set menu a little small so I’m glad we ordered something extra too There restaurant is effectively all upstairs with just a few tables near the door for those who’ll struggle with the steep stairs The table for 2 was very small and that was an issue. Nevertheless nothing is perfect and I really recommend this place. It was busy so I recommend you book Enjoy!

We’ve had Thai food in Thailand. The food is authentic and flavoursome. I had the beef Penang and coconut rice and the wife had pad Thai. Both very impressed with the food and portions. The staff were attentive and very friendly and available to provide advice on the dishes. Lovely surroundings to eat.

Sorry to say this is not authentic Thai food at all. I came from Malaysia and had visited our neighbour Thailand many times.

10/10 without a doubt. The food was amazing & the atmosphere as well. The minute we stepped into it, we noticed the extravagant decor. The staff were very welcoming & enthusiastic. The food was also a 10/10. We ordered the Stir-fry Sweet & Sour pork, Egg fried rice, Jasmine rice, Pad Thai & Oyster sauce pork. Everything was a solid 10/10. The food was authentic & tasted good. Superb food, great atmosphere and great service, also a great price! Highly recommend the sharing platter starter and the chicken massaman curry.

A very busy restaurant, never the less, we were shown to our table very quickly and a drinks order taken. There were 4 of us, we shared 2 starters, crab fish cakes and sesame prawn toast, again the service was very quick, both were delicious. We ordered 4 main dishes, Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Pineapple fried rice, Chicken Thai Curry, Ginger Stir Fry, all were excellent, very fresh and portions were plentiful. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

It was quiet when we arrived, server was happy and welcoming. Order was taken quickly, starter was nice and started off good. However, we ordered a sharing platter and then 2 mains one with chicken and prawn charged £3 extra for a bit of chicken - no extra and then £4.50 for rice. Food was nice but small portions and expensive for what we got. Left really disappointed and hungry £67.70 for 2 beers, starter and basically 2 mains and a side which could have fed one person.

I visited here with my husband. We are both vegetarian. We had vegetable tempura and spring rolls to start. The tempura was very small and disappointing. I then had a vegetable and cashew nut stir fry which again, was very small and disappointing. I would say the food was just okay. I don’t know if it’s because we are vegetarians but the vege options didn’t provide satisfaction so unfortunately I wouldn’t return. Our waitress however, was lovely and she did a great job at looking after us.

Visited Jintana on Tuesday this week. The restaurant was a lovely peaceful place to eat, food was delicious and beautifully presented. Pleasant, friendly staff. We will definitely return when in Bowness.

I visit the lakes every year with a group of mates and every year we visit the Jintana because we love it. The food and the service have always been excellent and this year was no exception. I really can't understand some of the reviews reporting bad food and poor service, we've never had anything other that excellent service and delicious food. This year, we went for a set menu with an extra dish of Thai red curry. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommended

Delicious Thai food with lovely staff. Ignore the reviews that say the food is bad, this thai food was some of the best we have eaten. Everything was tasty and portion size was just right.

Lovely little gem in Ambleside. Brilliant atmosphere, service and amazing food. Surprising to find an Authentic Thai located in Ambleside but well worth a visit.

I was flabbergasted of the service we received RUDE!!! To a point I wanted to walk but my husband could of ate a scabby cat so we continued to my dread. We had a takeaway service word of wisdom you have to order online and if you have the latest iPhone and 5g you are sh###it out of luck because their website doesn't work inside their own restaurant because they don't take orders at the till. I saw the latest post and if I had that food of those pictures I wouldn't be posting. Its more of a 5 day than a takeaway we had hard veg and 4 bits of chickens was a nasty sauce but rice was hard. Such a shame as was our last day and to drive to somerset the next day wouldn't recommend for a takeaway service but not the same as a dine in get your glad rags on if you want the pucker service hoped I helped. First time I left a review want to warn others. Such a shame left a sour taste in my mouth from one member of staff and feel our food was compromised by this glad I am in somerset again .

We visited during peak school holidays and the rest was very busy. We’d booked for 8pm but there was still many diners leftover from the early bird slot that ends at 6pm. The mixed starter was a variety of deep fried bits and bobs alongside chicken satay. My main of king prawn satay was bland flavour-wise but still enjoyable. My husband enjoyed his red curry. Service for drinks and paying was slow but this seemed to be down to sheer volume of customers and not enough staff. Enjoyed it but would probably try somewhere else next time.

Excellent, flavoursome food. Disappointed that the Thai Green Curry did not have pea aubergines, a Thai staple. Lived in Thailand for 4 years and know an authentic curry and this definitely was. Unfortunately the price was far too expensive for the portion size. Must say though the staff were lovely and the food excellent. You need to ensure the diners can leave a tip (if you don’t carry cash), the owners obviously do not wish the tips going into their business.
