We were travelling up to the Lakes from our home in Cheshire and wanted to stop for some lunch. I had mentioned Levens Hall, even though we had not been before. I was very impressed. It was easy and free to park.
Everything was easily accessible and situated round a courtyard.
We sat outside with our dog. Our lunch order was placed and paid for then brought to the table by very pleasant staff; no waiting and balancing drinks and plates trying to negotiate doorways etc. It was all so efficient.
We only had sandwiches, but they were fresh and beautifully presented. Also succumbed to a slice of the delicious beetroot and chocolate cake; one of a variety of tempting cakes on offer.
We visit the Lakes a couple of times a year. Levens Hall will be a regular stop en route for us from now onwards.

Called into the shop in Bowness for gifts for my grandchildren- wasn’t sure what I wanted but was given some very helpful advice from the lady who was working there. What a lovely lady she was. So friendly, chatty and helpful. I came away with just what I needed. Cannot speak too highly of her. An absolute asset to the company.
My hubby booked our 3 night stay here as a treat for my birthday. On the second night it was my birthday so we had booked a table. We had a free entree, which was a nice surprise. When we went into the restaurant, we were the first ones in. The table had petals on it, and a birthday card, which was lovely. We ordered the beef skewer and the mushroom starter, which h were both lovely. We then had the pork belly and the duck. Both were great. Service was top notch. Our waiter was Raphael. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Lovely hot day and popped in for two ice creams. One waffle cone with two scoops and one cone with one scoup. £8.10 and the ice creams were very small. The lady serving used a small scoup not much bigger than a teaspoon! Won't be going again!!
We booked a table at Paisley's Restaurant by telephone a couple of weeks in advance of our visit and were told the booking was fine.
Imagine our surprise then when we arrived at the Crag Manor Hotel to find their restaurant was closed. We were told it had not opened since the Covid lock-down and would not be opening for the foreseeable future. So why was our telephone booking accepted?
Paisley’s Restaurant is part of the Crag Manor Hotel. If that’s how they treat their guests, I’m surprised anyone actually stays there!
In the current environment is was good to see that all the best practices for keeping visitors safe were being followed .The food was well resented, well cooked and very tasty.
“Let’s stop for ice cream” we said. “It’ll be a treat for the kids” we said. It wasn’t. Honestly we nearly lost the will to live. Not the fault of the people serving but the convoluted menu of ice cream sundaes and milkshakes which each took about a week to make. We only wanted ice cream and were waiting around 45 minutes which honestly just wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t just us as several groups abandoned the queue while we were waiting. Need a fast-track queue for customers wanting ice cream only. Won’t be returning.

Arrived on a, what looked like very busy evening. The staff explained that they were busy but they should be able to fit us in with a delay of about 25mins - sounded perfect with a drink while we waited.
Staff then were able to get us in sooner - the food was on point and very tasty! Great atmosphere and brilliant staff.
Would recommend! Thank you.
I booked a meal for 10 tonight for a work do.
We had a problem with two people being late but nothing was too much trouble for them and still accommodated us.
The food was amazing, large portions and well cooked. Not one person had the slightest negative.
I am going to visit with family next as it is amazing
Very tired and in need of complete renovation and it shouldnt have been advertised as a four star hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful working under poor conditions. Breakfast choice poor unless you like eggs and the vegetarian full English was dry and obviously been kept under a heat lamp. Definitely not 4 star and I understand the day after we left the hotel was closed for renovation.
