Good local's pub, good beer not too far from the centre of Kendal

Best way I can explain this meal is it was like dish water. Worst chinese ive had. Singapore chow mein was soggy and tasteless. Hoisin sauce tasted like vinegar. Prawn crackers were stale. And when I got home my curry sauce wasnt in there. Terrible.

I bought fried rice, soft noodles and shredded beef in a sweet and sour sauce. Unfortunately the soft noodles were bland and tasted a little off so none were eaten, and all thrown away. The fried rice was nice but nothing special. Finally the shredded beef was too tough to eat and what I did eat (genuinely) made me vomit. I didn't eat the whole portion however as there was just an overpowering taste of ketchup in the sweet and sour sauce and it was sickly. Around an hour later I threw everything back up. Would not recommend.

Gift shop is not very complete, quite small and not too much to choose from.

First time I have stopped here, v impressed, friendly staff, clean, fish & chips and battered sausage & chips (it was all for me!), all very tasty and best I've had in a long time, generous portions, Will stop again for more when in the area and they're open later than the others in the area.

Great Fish and chips freshly cooked. Friendly service. Take away and pre order. Pre pandemic eat in? Good pricing.

Lovely stay mews rooms where fab when you have dogs. Room service for breakfast was great meaning we didn't have to leave dogs while we went for breakfast. Food in the bar on the evening was great and fab value for money. Will definitely be back

Visited here many times - the food and service is great and the place is very inviting. My young sister also visited here with her friend when in Bowness for the day, and had lost her card and only had her bus fare home which she only realised after ordering a cocoa, she told them she would have to cancel and they gave her the cocoa as a good Will gesture anyway. Not often you get people this kind hearted these days , definitely recommend visiting here and I also will return.:) Also visited this weekend and the tapas was delicious!

Very tired and in need of complete renovation and it shouldnt have been advertised as a four star hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful working under poor conditions. Breakfast choice poor unless you like eggs and the vegetarian full English was dry and obviously been kept under a heat lamp. Definitely not 4 star and I understand the day after we left the hotel was closed for renovation.

We had a room at the back and it was horrible. There's no getting around it. Small, dark and smelling very strongly of damp. The twin beds were touching. The carpet was very stained. Everything was tired and dated. The bathroom floor so cold it was unpleasant to go in there. Maybe if you get a sea view room it's nice - they looked ok from the outside, but if you are on more of a budget (we still paid £90 per night for the room) I would recommend looking elsewhere. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good but not with £15 a head and that was after a discount.

First camping trip pub we ever went into back in 93 aged 18. Sad to see it closed today. Major rebuild in progress and will be I recognisable. So I'll never see how it was again.

Lovely bright and modern pub. Nice choice of really taste beer. Called in mid week, so it was quite and lacked atmosphere, which is why I give 4 stars.
