There’s a huge range of chocolates, teas and coffees here. Coffee can be purchased in multiple sized bags either ground or beans. Teas are loose leaf with teabags also available depending on the type. I bought both for gifts based on the wants of the recipient. There’s also an extensive range of hot chocolates and a good range of decaffeinated teas, very unusual. Service was excellent, especially when I left a bag of coffee behind and they knew who I was straight away when I called up and had it waiting for me the next day when I came back to collect it. Highly recommended.
Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
Emailed the Inn a couple of days before, as we were a group of 7 walkers ( 8 of us in the end) and a dog.
I got a quick reply to say that we were booked and all was in order.
-I would definitely advise booking. It was a very busy Sunday lunchtime-
One of the group requires 'gluten-free' options and there appeared plenty of choice on the menu.
When we arrived, we were given a warm welcome and were shown into a small alcove-side room (I think it was part of the diary palour in its day)
It was absolutely perfect for our small group, who were celebrating a few up coming birthdays. But still felt part of the warm pub atmosphere.
We ordered drinks & our food requirements were taken, explaining we might have a wee wait as the food was all made fresh.
It wasn't long before we received 8 plates of quality & quantity, everyone was happy with their lot, especially my friend who had the best gf fish (in batter) and chips she has had in years.
All in all very happy with the food, the service, location, and staff.
Would definitely recommend (esp if gf required)
Birthday treat for my wife. Third visit to this amazing place and it never disappoints. The food is absolutely amazing and Lucy and the rest of the staff are so welcoming, friendly and thoroughly professional. Need to go more often, if you visit Grange and need food, head here, you won't be disappointed.
After a long walk, (you know when your legs are like jelly and you're a bit delirious), the Three Hares Cafe was a caramel-packed safehaven.
I've visited hundreds of cafes (and reviewed a fair few on here) and the negative reviews are a little baffling. Yes, the scones look burnt but they are airy light and a welcome companion to a brew. Funnily enough, they probably know how to make a decent scone given the expertise across the road at the Black Bull Inn.
It is a small cafe, only a few tables, that doubtless gets filled quickly but Sedbergh has alternatives nearby if you're stuck.
They nailed my preference for a caramel slice (90% oozing caramel) and the pies and other bits we took home all hit the spot. Special mention for their donuts. They look like giant charred cannon balls that ooze jam. Glorious when warmed up.
Our second visit and just as brilliant as the first. We took advantage of the superb value mid week deal for dinner bed and breakfast and enjoyed every single bite of food, from the wonderful evening meal by a roaring fire to the huge breakfast the next morning.
We came on a cold February day and needed warmth and we got it! A warm welcome, a real log fire in the dining room and excellent comfort food. The menu included old favourites like potted shrimps and new favourites like coconut breaded king prawns with sweet chilli dipping sauce. Home made food is always worth trying , and the superb steak and stout pie was just perfect. We just about managed half a sticky toffee pudding each as the portions are generous.
The breakfast menu was full of choice and set us up for a strenuous hill walk. Porridge with plant milk for my husband and granola and fresh fruit platter for me, followed by a classic full English for both of us which included perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. The toast was Bavarian malted and finished off a great spread. Lucy looked after us so well from start to finish of our visit and we look forward to our next visit.
Our room for the stay was full of character and featured a super king bed, fabulous shower room and gorgeous massive old antique dresser which worked perfectly as a dressing table/ clothes drawers and hot drinks making area.
Full marks all round.
Surprisingly busy on a Tuesday evening at 5pm, nearly all tables taken, so that speaks for itself.
Great choice of beers available and a good wine menu, too.
We only had drinks on this visit, but the food looked amazing.
Stylish cafe with Scandinavian vibe . Limited menu so just had coffee which was very good . Flan & sausage rolls looked nice but reluctant to purchase as not covered .
Booked a table as we wanted a good traditional Christmas meal. We were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We were allocated a table close to the fire which was fantastic. All three of us chose the traditional turkey Christmas dinner. Each meal was plated well, well presented and more importantly, delicious. Definitely can say the Punch Bowl is worth going to for a hearty meal and drinks. Staff are a credit to the new owners.
