Visited here with my Dad today. Asked for a tea cake and then a scone both not on the menu anymore. I had a bagel with salmon and cream cheese paid over £8 and that was it no sides, no even a bit of salad - didn’t taste great. Dad ordered pancakes in the end 2 tiny pancakes on a dish - still hungry when we left. Not great service either. Disappointed!

Absolutely great food, beautifully presented, the child meals are great all good proper food rather than the usual cheap rubbish served on children's menus. The staff were great and made some excellent recommendations for us. We will be back.

Great food and great view although left heartbroken when closed on our last day. I only ever come here for you scone and hot chocolate but now left in pieces with my heart astray. God bless hope you open soon. P.S do delivery to fife will pay

The dining room has the wow factor, the staff were friendly and clearly knew their jobs very well. The food was inventive, imaginative and immaculately executed. An interesting wine list with wines to suit all pockets and tastes. An unforgettable Experience with the added bonus of an overnight stay in a quiet room with a view. A sense of peace and restfulness permeates the hotel. Top marks to the staff and particularly to Veronique our waitress who was very informative about our culinary journey. A must visit in the Lakes.

Restaurant was a little short staffed but did not affect the quality of the food . We had the salmon fillet and the seabass , cant remember the dessert except that it was excellent . Accompanied by a decent bottle of malbec . Slightly disappointed that they could not make expresso martinis but would difinitely eat here again.

Dined in the Apple Restaurant for 2 nights the food was excellent with a varied menu beautifully presented with a collection of fine wines to accompany the meal their was some nice vegetarian options on the menu which looked very tempting and may try on our next visit We also had on the day of arrival afternoon tea which again was excellent a selection of sandwiches , pastries and desserts and highly recommend trying as an alternative to the restaurant if not dining in the evening.

The food was nice but service a bit slow. The coffee machine had broken so one of us ordered tea which came with brown sugar because they had no white sugar available even though they have a large hotel next to the restaurant. Building is lovely and comfortable and staff nice and no pressure to hurry.

Great place! Lovely atmosphere, I would of rated it higher but it was bloody freezing in there! I feel the cold , so had to sit with my mega thick ski coat on as I couldn’t get warm, my husband eventually asked the staff if they could put the heating on but they said it wasn’t working, they did come and put the fire on when asked so I moved nearer , but it didn’t give any heat off at all! We would of stayed longer but decided to leave and go to another place which we knew was warm and cosey, so come on easy breeze get the heating on for us guys who hate the cold!

If you enjoy a coffee and great slice of cake or light meal - I rate this is the best in the UK. OK, so I'm a Kendal lad, but my job means I've lived all around the UK and travelled overseas widely. It's a fun and quirky café (not the uniform brand marketing of many coffee shops) and has a great menu. The staff are very knowledgeable and after your coffee, will blend and grind coffee to your taste for you to take home. A visit to the Lakes is not complete without a coffee in Farrer's.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.

We stopped in here for an early dinner which was handy given a number of places close between lunch and dinner time. The pie was recommended and it didn’t disappoint. We were too stuffed for dessert but the ones on the table next to us looked lovely.
