The best restaurants in South Lakeland North West

Service was slow. Food seemed to take ages. When it arrived it wasn’t very warm. I ordered fish and chips. Chips were ok but fish batter was pale and soft. I asked for vinegar (standard) and the waitress decided it was a better idea to prepare a round of drinks before bringing the condiments to the table. So I said there with food in front of me waiting ages for vinegar. This place is average and £17 for poor fish n chips is outrageous.

It was OK the price is not worth the meal though. Very little food on the plate, parking was a nightmare and we were sat is the worst part o the whole place with an extremely low ceiling (not great when you are claustrophobic). They allow dogs which is good. Overall food was too expensive and was only ok and I would not return which is a shame as it was better a few years ago!

We just had one night here (unfortunately) it's a great pub with fantastic rooms. Our large room had really nice decor and had a huge comfy bed We had a great night's sleep. There were lots of eating places in the village but we decided to eat at the Red Dragon, The food on the plate was plenty and tasty. Breakfast is included with a good choice, a great way to start the day. Hoping to get back very soon

Very warm welcome from Heather and the rest of the team. They were all so friendly and very efficient and worked so hard. A great team, nothing was too much trouble. Great menu, food was delicious! Our room was comfortable and had a lovely countryside view. Although there was no shower, or hand held shower attachment, it didn't mar our stay.didn't really mar our stay. The overall ambience of the pub (two wood burners roaring all day, every day during our two night stay) made it such a wonderful relaxing break. Highly recommend.

Heidi’s is the friendliest cafe in Grasmere. You always get a warm welcome and doggy companions are extremely well catered for, with towels, treats and water bowls. Craig is an amazing host who works so hard with the rest of the team

Stopped in here on the off chance they had a free table and lucky for us they did. Food was delicious, staff were really friendly and efficient. Facilities are modern and clean. Meal was reasonably priced we highly recommend

Great bar in the heart of Hawkshead, great atmosphere and great message supporting rescue cats! Best bar in the lake district!

Fabulous Sunday Roast. Very large portion of great food. Very friendly and accommodating service. Would definitely recommend the Rose and Crown for Sunday Lunch.

Opening times were posted on website so I was sent to this cafe. Unfortunately after a long journey there I found it shut. Would like to think that if your are shut this would be reflected on your website (Sunday morning (2/2/25).

Visited Windermere today with our cocker spaniel It was chilly so didn’t really want a outdoor seat for coffee and meal which seemed to be all we could have with a dog However we came across ‘Slate’ Dogs welcome We were promptly welcomed and given a menu, and advised our order would be collected as soon as we were ready Coffee was served, very nice Followed by our meals, very well presented and exactly what was described Prices were completely reasonable for what we had Would highly recommend and will return if we come again to Windermere

A fantastic birthday treat!! We went for the full tasting menu which I highly recommend. The staff were professional, friendly and explained each dish as it arrived at our table. All the courses were delicious and presented beautifully. We will definitely return!!
