Stumbled upon this lovely cafe when looking for somewhere to get coffee and cake after a walk at Troutbeck. We got a very friendly welcome despite it being fairly close to closing. Amazing selection of cakes including gf and df. Definitely recommend stopping by.

Called in on our visit to the on site bakery. We decided to order just toast & drinks, we had eaten a full breakfast in our hotel. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady, & directed to our table. Our order was taken & delivered quickly, lovely coffee, and proper thick toasted bread, not thin sliced. All in all an excellent experience. We will definitely return, when next in the area.

We live in Kendal and have used this cafe a number of times. We particularly enjoy popping out for a weekend breakfast - Covid restrictions allowing, of course. The staff are always warm and welcoming, and the wait usually not too long - just long enough that we know it is being cooked fresh. Would certainly recommend, and we look forward to visiting more frequently when lockdown allows.

We discovered this cafe recently after a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. We’ve been a few times now and every time has been fantastic. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, service is efficient and the cafe itself is lovely and cosy with a log fire. The food is absolutely delicious - the scrambled egg with parmesan for breakfast is so good, I’m really picky with how I like my scrambled eggs but these are always perfectly cooked. My partner commented that his sausage bun was one of the best he’s ever had. Lunch is lovely too, amazing jacket potatoes and great big portions, and the cakes are amazing to finish off. Would highly recommend and will keep returning!

We always stop here on our visit to the lakes for breakfast. The food is excellent and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, especially in these covid times. We had a full English breakfast with hot drinks, but a child who was with us has a lactose intolerance, the staff made suitable substitutions and treated ou little guest like a queen. They're is a butcher on site to, so after it for we stick up on fresh local meat. Can't praise this establishment enough.

Buen precio tambien. No tengo quejas y volvería a visitar.

I discovered this place en route to the Lakes in January. I say discovered but I had driven past it countless times over the years though had never visited. I was so impressed that yesterday lunchtime, my friend and I decided to do a detour there before going to Sizergh Castle for the rest of the afternoon. We arrived just before midday and were seemingly lucky to grab a table as it was very busy. The broccoli and sweetcorn quiche was in all honesty one of the best quiches I have ever eaten and it was huge. A great deep filling and crisp pasty with a side salad - what's not to like! The large central table was taken up with an extremely noisy party of (I am guessing) students. Not the fault of the cafe owners of course but to be so loud in a small area is extremely thoughtless in my opinion. Rant over.

We had a sort of brunch which was lovely the place although small was well laid out with plenty of comfortable seating including outside but spoilt outside because smoking allowed. The staff were very nice nothing to much trouble all food cooked fresh and quickly. There are a choice of artisan breads to choose from although I would have preferred to know the sourdough was seeded because I don’t like mustard seeds thankfully my bread didn’t have any so I was able to enjoy my breakfast. The Ciabatta was lovely. Coffee was very nice but best of all the cakes so much choice and huge pieces one is enough to share and just finishes off the meal nicely or good just with coffee. The prices are in line with similar places serving this type of food and are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend the two sisters and will certainly be visiting again when in Kendal.

stopped here on our way to Bowness on Windermere for breakfast. We both had the full English, couldn't fault a thing. Food and service were excellent. Also called in the shop for essentials and the sour dough baker, had a cheeses and chillie loaf very tasty.

Popped in for a late lunch, and loved the ambience, the service and the food which was attractively presented, fresh and delicious. Worth popping in to the adjoining shop for farm produce, and there is a bakery and a coffee producer on site too.

There couldnt be a more friendly eating stop with excellent homemade food. The cakes are to die for. Always a smile on arrival and a goodbye when you leave.

Consistently good. Fantastic cakes, soups, lunches. Staff are brilliant. Would never hesitate to recommend. Only problem is because it is so good it gets very busy at times so recommend booking.

Been here for breakfast twice a year for last 4 years. This place is so good it's worth the 5 hour drive from London alone...then there's the lakes!

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

My husband and I were staying at the nearby county hotel and decided to call in for a coffee on the way into the shopping area. The coffee was great and the millionaires slice was lovely. Service was very good.
