Good food and a warm welcome. Would recommend this restaurant.

Delicious and traditional representation of Italian food with great service.

Basically it’s The Emperor’s New Clothes. Little ambiance - closer to a cafe than a restaurant. Food was bland and far from authentic, particularly the pasta and meat dishes. Young staff were pleasant and attentive but unable to pronounce their own menu correctly which further contributed to the lack of authenticity the restaurant purports to have. The dishes shown on the website bore no resemblance to those served to my family on the day and certainly little resemblance to the rich and flavoursome dishes mamma used to make. Not recommended.

A small cosy restaurant offering a simple but delicious menu. Always find a warm welcome and good service. Also a convenient location before/ after the nearby cinema with parking across the road.

On Friday, I made my third visit to Luigi’s, my go-to Italian restaurant in Ambleside, and it was just as fantastic as ever. There’s something wonderfully familiar about stepping into the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are consistently friendly, greeting you with that warm hospitality that makes you feel more like a regular in a small Italian village rather than a visitor in the Lake District. The food, as always, was delicious and authentically Italian. I couldn’t resist ordering my usual: the homemade pasta. The texture of the pasta is always perfectly al dente, and the sauces rich in flavour. Every time I leave, I’m already looking forward to the next time I’ll be back!

Great place. Staff extremely attentive and helpful and so friendly. Perfect for when you have dogs as they have own seating area for them. A must if in the area. GREAT food also!!

Very nice meal here. Having read other reviews, we asked to sit upstairs and it was good. Staff were very helpful, the food was good and it was great value. You need to book, as it's very popular!

We had a wonderful dinner here. The food and service was excellent. They have an early bird special, which includes an appetizer, main, and dessert, at a terrific value. We opted for the carbonara and boscaiola. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. The carbonara was rich and creamy. We enjoyed our meal.

A good meal, friendly helpful service

Top drawer little Italian Trattoria right in the centre of Ambleside. Lovely, genuinely warm and friendly waiting staff. The tuna and capers spaghetti was fresh, tasty with a warming chilli finish. No hesitation in recommending.

Amazing food and wonderful, friendly servers. A lovely fireplace downstairs but would recommend booking.

I liked the pollo marsala. It's pasta with chicken and mushroom in a creamy sauce.

I recently tried to dine at Luigi's Restaurant, arriving almost right at their opening time. To my surprise, there were already no available tables. Initially, a member of the staff seemed eager to help find a spot for me. However, her helpfulness quickly disappeared when she realized I was dining alone. She informed me that there were no available tables and made no further effort to assist me. This change in attitude left me with a very negative impression. Overall, my experience at Luigi's Restaurant was disappointing due to the lack of accommodation and the indifferent attitude towards solo diners. This left a sour taste in my mouth, and I hope the restaurant improves its customer service approach in the future.

Thank you so much for making my cousin's 60th extra special. The balloon decorations you did for us was amazing and to arrange a wee cake was superb.. You made us feel so welcome, Poppy gave us first class service and lots of laughs. The food was excellent the only disappointment was when each course was coming to an end. For me the vegan choices were amazing. We all enjoyed their fabulous food and exceptional hospitality so definitely recommending this restaurant for authentic Italian cuisine 💞💞

Absolutely beautiful restaurant. We have been coming to Ambleside for years and somehow always missed this place. Very central, the food was better than most places we have eaten in Italy itself. Beautiful food, absolutely amazing service. 100% recommend, it will be the first place we visit every time we come back!

Where to start chose here because they are dog friendly staff met us as soon as we got through the door took us to our table bowl ofwater for the dog even blankets for him to lay on. Not the biggest menu but excellent quality and service couldn't fault anything we ate will certainly call back again in the future

We managed to get a last minute table at Luigi’s last night. The 2 lasses that was serving in were amazing, service was quick, drinks very reasonable prices and wow the food!!! Just stunning so fresh and tasty. We certainly will be coming back and recommending to anyone who is visiting the area. Thank you for making our weekend one to remember.

We love dining at Luigi's, high quality homemade food at reasonable prices. I just wish they served vegetables! Even just brocoli & carrots would be good but they only serve salad. The veal in marsala sauce with potatoes is delicious, creamed garlic mushrooms to start, superb. Silky carbonara, with garlic bread, perfect! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, service was excellent too. I had asked, when booking a few weeks earlier, to be seated upstairs, unfortunately we were placed downstairs with dogs & children, which was disappointing. Always a good meal though

The first time we've eaten here and it won't be the last. Super friendly staff and there was a good menu choice.

Booked a table no problem some time ago as Luigi’s had a great reputation. Entered premises and greeted with very friendly staff and we explained we had a booking. Brought to our table and asked if we would like a drink which we ordered whilst going over menu. Drinks arrived and we placed order. Wasn’t long for the starter to arrive (Pate with side salad) plates collected and within 10mins the main had arrived, which was fantastic. Had to finish the night off with a pudding. Couldn’t fault the whole evening and highly recommend a visit to all👍forgot to mention bill was around £85 which was two 3 course meals and one 2 course meal with drinks🍺.

Each time we have a holiday in the Lakes we always book a table at Luigi's usually for two evenings. Perhaps it will give you a clue as to how much we rate the experience? The food is wholesome, tasty and the service tip top. I can't speak highly enough of the establishment and we would recommend you give it a try.

Friendly, informative, efficient staff. Food, fantastic through the whole meal (starter, main and dessert) happy and encouraged to customise the dishes to suit your taste. Unrushed service, but not left waiting for your food either. We opted for an earlier time to eat and took advantage of their happy hour deal, 3 courses for under £20, you do have to order a drink from the menu, but plenty of options available including soft drinks as well as tea or coffee, I can recommend this if your planning a visit here

Absolutely brilliant evening! Due to traffic we were over an hour late, we did let the team know , and they kept the table for us. The food was classic traditional italian, you can taste the fresh produce. The service was 10/10 everyone was so welcoming and attentive. We can't wait to return...Thank you

Great little pub best one in Windermere

My wife and I found ourselves having a night out eating quality Italian cuisine.

We popped in at 6pm to see if they had space as a family of 4 and they were able to accommodate us which was a bonus. The food was simply outstanding Italian pasta. The kids enjoyed thier portions and ate every morsel. We had Carbonana washed down with a glass (bottle) of Pinot and it was lovely. Best Italian food in Ambleside no doubt.

Great to find an Italian that does more than pizza. Lovely pasta dishes well cooked and flavoursome. Nice ambience and great that dogs are only allowed doenstsairs. Staff very friendly and attentive. We will be back.

We ate here as a party of four and were made very welcome immediately. It was good to see the restaurant busy but despite that we were neither rushed nor neglected - I thought the service was spot on considering they were busy. Atmosphere is great and you can actually hear your party’s conversation as the music is not too loud. Food was excellent, couldn’t fault any of it. Starters, Mains and Desserts were all spot on. Can thoroughly recommend the risotto, the veal escalopes a la Marsala or the amatriciana / pescatore pasta dishes. Staff were both very young and very helpful. First time we have dined here and it won’t be the last time. A very enjoyable evening.

It was OK, had to keep chasing beer, staff I would say were a bit quiet, could do with some personality lessons.l, bit robotic. Food was nice, music went off, bit dull with no music... probably look elsewhere next time...

Absolutely delicious food, we had the risotto and the arrabbiata, good size portion, lovely tasting chips. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough especially considering the Indian which we had the day before. In both restaurants we spent £50 and that Indian was the worst food I’ve had from ever and I am south Asian and ate from 100’s of Indian restaurants.

How refreshing to be able to go to a restaurant and eat a lovely meal and take your dog. We visit here every time we are in Ambleside and always enjoy the food and wonderful service.

Fantastic, the food was excellent, the early happy hour deal was great value and the guy who served made sure the food came quickly as I was in a rush, 10/10 will come back.

Sharing board inadequate for 2 people. Not worth the money. Big disappointment was the Carbonara. The sauce was so watery, worst I've ever had. Very slow service.

Superb meal, service was excellent. Dog friendly - on arrival we were given a blanket for our dog to lie on, which was a nice touch. We both had the steak with peppercorn sauce, which was lovely. The coppa al caffe dessert was divine! The best meal out we've had for ages, and definitely while we were in Ambleside. Highly recommended.

Great little restaurant! We came here twice in our short visit to the lake district from London. The food was really tasty and well priced, and the staff were super friendly. I would definitely go back, highly recommended.

Lovely food and fantastic service. This was our first visit to Luigis and won't be our last. There was lots of choice on the menu, I started with garlic mushrooms and pescatore pasta for main course. Both dishes were delicious, I finished with tiramisu, which was also very tasty, and a cheeky limoncello. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely family meal with two young boys, food was great and the service was outstanding. Our waitress Carys was brilliant and really made our evening.

Very good value Italian restaurant. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere, efficient service. However, I have one complaint. In common with most Italian restaurants in the UK, they don't offer pasta starters. I'm sure they did when I came here in the 90s.

We both got the special for around £15. Arabiata pasta dish and an anchovy pasta dish sauces were watery. Just ok, won't rush back.
