After leaving voicemail and email requests for information, to no avail, we get here, and the place is closed and for sale. Great job, Google. Still showing it as less busy than usual.

This is a great place to stay the staff are extremely helpfull Ross rhe manager is great and knowledgeable very centrally positioned has a beer garden to the rear great choice.

I went to this pub last weekend and the food was cheap and microwave products “poor” said on the menu fresh baguette s but when served to us it was stale cheap Asda bread, we spent over £100 on four meals and drinks , then was told by the very rude a hole of a manger to get up and go home to watch the football if u ain’t getting drinks, at the said he said this I just finished my beer, it’s a good job I’m more farmer as a guy , because he could of got a bl hander, I would never go back here and if others read this I advise u not to go MR Chesworth

Pretty grim Pub, surprised at some of the 5 Star reviews on here (are these people actually reviewing the same Pub?? 🤔). Called in here for a quick drink on Friday afternoon. The inside is spacious, but has a grubby feeling about it. Drinks are average and not a great selection on Tap. I ordered a Hendricks Gin, granted expecting Cucumber in it was aiming high, but I didn't even get Ice, just a dirty Glass 👎 The Pub just has a 'grim' vibe about it, it seems to host all the local Drunks who either stand at the Bar getting smashed, or stand outside by the Fire escape smoking (jamming the door open so the Bar stinks of Cigarettes 🤢). The local Punters are also a bit creepy, my wife pointed out a few of them stood at the Bar just kept staring at her 🤣 The only positive thing I found about the place is it had a great selection of music playing 👍 Given it's central location, it's a real shame it is so poor, especially given how many other great Pubs there are around there...🫤

Popped in for a pint ended up having two whilst watch brave Albania draw with Croatia. Great music play list.

Old quaint pub well situated in the heart of the village. Food was good along with the service although would say prices were higher than what we'd pay in London for standard pub fare...

Buzzing bar, arrived in the middle of the Manchester football match with a great atmosphere. Beer was spot in as were the staff and service - would deffo recommend visit x

Packed pub with 90% of people there to watch the champions league. The biggest game being real Madrid v Manchester City. Most people asking expecting to be able to see Madrid v city as it was advertised outsided. So the place had Arsenal and the 2nd game not being city but Leeds The Bar staff said they don't care what people want to watch. I suppose leeds are a popular club but in the pub they wasnt apart from the bar people But as it's a tourist places they don't have to look after customers. And they didnt Disappointing if brutally honest approach to customer service.. By half time the pub had a lot less customers. But as the staff said they dont care what the customers want

The food was really poor. The pasta was swimming in a very thin sauce making it virtually inedible. Also expensive for what it is.

Lovely pub, very busy when sport is on. They didn’t turn the downstairs TVs on for some reason. Food is delicious and the drinks were reasonably priced for the area

We came in from the snow ended up a great day

We popped in here to watch the football on Sky sports and did not eat, so could not comment. The beer was very good, as was the service. The pub is a TARDIS, with several rooms for those looking for seating when watching Sport.

Excellent pub in Ambleside. Very efficient bar staff. Good atmosphere with loads of screens showing the Football. A must when in Ambleside.

We bombed in here sharpish as the heavens opened, and we had (older) kids and dogs. Lots of people had the same idea so the bar guy opened more seating for us which was kind. After telling us the food would be 20-30 minutes, 60 minutes later we were still waiting. We had nowhere to be so it isn't matter particularly but a fair wait. The food was average and did the job but we were disappointed when you compare it to other pub grub. A good pit stop if you're in a fix but nothing to shout about unfortunately. I don't drink but apparently they have good beer though 🍻 so maybe one to try if you like lakes ales

Aggressive staff cornered and threatened us after wrongly accusing us of vaping. Nice pub but clearly for locals only wouldn’t recommend if you are a visitor.

Staff were lovely. Drinks were flat and beef baguette was a disaster. Beef was dry and rubbery and offered nothing of flavour. Poor food

Popped in for a quick drink. Friendly bar staff. No music but footy on. Seemed like a nice place

I only ordered a starter, and it took an hour to arrive, when it finally arrived it was wrong and I had to send it back and get a refund. There was another table who were also waiting 45 mins just for sandwiches who got a refund and left. Wouldn't recommend.

Great day watching the rugby followed by a great night with live music. Excellent service and atmosphere.

Stopped in for a pint after a hike. Cool beer and great service.

We stopped off for some drinks in the Tavern. It has plenty of space up and downstairs which includes a pool table. It has sports channels available and a well stocked bar. It also offers bar snacks and a hot food menu. Bar staff were friendly and happy to help. We would return if in the area.

Terrible food, wouldn't have paid £4 for it and the staff clearly don't care. Wasn't even busy. I never complain or leave reviews, but felt ripped off and needed to warn others

Terrible experience. Bad enough that it took over two hours to produce some very average food, but that someone (I assume owner) came in half an hour afterwards and was served pretty much immediately and sat down at table next to us to enjoy their food was beyond irritating.

Lovely place to have a snack or full blown evening meal. Deceptively larger inside than it looks from the outside, you may just think of it as a cafe but this place does the full works from breakfast through to evening meals. Alcohol is served here too. Would definitely dine here again.

Quite a nice pub in the town centre we stopped in for lunch on a busy Saturday. Service is self-service. Food was good for the lasagne and burger - but the fish and chips dry. A good selection of beer.

Large bar with indoor and outdoor seating seeking good food and beer

For 8 weeks took my polecat in here no issue no problem and I give the place free advertising yet all of a sudden I'm not allowed in with my polecat for a pint and had a wasted 3 hour journey I think it's rude and bad management to be blunt yet honest

Proper pub loads of Atmos, the nite I was in Aa class local singer held the crowd beautifully with Van the Man of Wunder wall etc what a star. Drink range is great and the crack is good, service second to non. 10/10

Second visut to this Thwaites pub. Large main room with more seating to rear or downstairs. 4 real ales, 3xThwaites and a guest. Had a pint of Gold which was fine. Eric and Paulicarus chugged double Bailey's each.

Not a local but come here often for breaks. New landlords who are really nice people. We'll keep coming. Top pub.

Lovely atmosphere, very nice ales, fabulous landlord and staff. Dog friendly. Reasonable price pub food. Definitely one to visit when in Ambleside. Been coming here for the last 30 years, it has changed hands but still maintains a true feel of the lake district. One of the reasons we keep returning to Ambleside. Thank you for keeping it real.

Being from Cumbria and not visiting for many many years, I wanted some Cumberland sausage. Can’t fault this place, price good, served the food quickly and it was really good. Plenty of seating areas and right in the centre of Ambleside.

Very pleasant barman, cosy surroundings. Visited twice on our holiday and enjoyed both.

This felt like a really welcoming pub with a great atmosphere. There was a great range of drinks including some good beers. They have a massive map of the Wainwright's on the wall so you can sit there and plot out your next walk!

Pretty run-of-the-mill English pub, almost felt like a bit of a throwback in its refusal to head down the gastropub-and-craft-beer route. Beer is weighted towards crowd pleasers on electric pumps, and the food is functional with no frills, but solidly made and reasonably tasty.

Had some fabulous food and good beers here. Definitely recommend that you try their Chicken and Ham pie 😍😍😍

Was busy when we went we had dogs and the staff looked after us well and accomadated our needs arranging a table for us. Food was great to it's a popular venue always seems quite busy

Netter Pub, etwas unscheinbar und nicht ganz so überlaufen wie die anderen in Ambleside. Gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis. Bei Fußballspielen kann es voll werden. Allerdings gibt es weitere Fernseher im Keller und eine Leinwand im hinteren Bereich.

Nachos were tasty! Plenty of screens to watch the game. Friendly staff. Toilets need an upgrade - flies, no toilet paper, and hand driers were cold and weak. Would happily go again, but go to the bathroom elsewhere.

Perfect pub, had the burger and chips with a few pints whilst hiking around the Lakes, and recharged my electronics. Food very reasonably priced and bloody brilliant. Traditional pub, great staff, live football on. What more do you want!

Meals are absolutely amazing. Went there for dinner and all 6 of us loved the food. Drinks are well priced and the downstairs room has a pool table and dart board with a nice chill vibe.
