We found this place randomly after checking for places to eat with good reviews. The food is sensational. We ordered wings and ribs as a starter and it was probably the best wings I ever had. The ribs were absolutely yummy as well (very heavily seasoned, soft, smoked, tasty). My friend ordered the brisket and I got the Texas Burger. I cannot praise this food enough, it was great experience that I would definitely recommend.

Omg! Left so full! The food was amazing but everyone knows that! The staff were so friendly and were working hard as its a busy wee place! Go if you get the chance! But leave it until the last day or no other food places will stand a chance!!!

Great food, just need a bigger premises

My partner and I went in for the last night of our honeymoon. We both had baby back ribs, a side of ribs and the trio of salsas with totopos. The totopos were fantastic nothing like a nacho, way better in my opinion. The green salsa was my favourite. The side of sticky ribs were really tasty. The baby back ribs were incredible. The seasoning and homemade BBQ sauce the highlight. Skin on fries were excellent. Great coleslaw. Despite being incredibly full I had to have a key lime pie. It was almost like a lime cheesecake with bits of lime peel. Didn't look pretty, but probably my favourite in terms of flavour and consistency despite having some in Key Largo and Key West. Couldn't recommend enough. We left with two bottles of signature BBQ sauce and should we travel to the Lake District again will certainly try to revisit.

Pappy’s catered our wedding and it. Was. FANTASTIC. I don’t think our guests have stopped complimenting the food! From the start Robin was super professional and had our best interests at heart. She was very organised and on top of everything (especially when I wasn’t!) and patient with me. On the run up she was good communicating with our wedding coordinator and checked we had everything we needed. The food itself was just perfect and there was plenty of it. We chose a family style dining setup and Robin made sure we picked a meal plan that suited this. And as I said, the guests can’t stop talking about how good the food was!! Service on the day was also perfect, Robin and her team were super smiley and got everything out in good time so nobody was staring at food on other tables! Thanks also for our complimentary Pappy’s BBQ sauce! So if you’re thinking of having Pappy’s cater your wedding or event just stop thinking and book them 😊 you won’t regret it!

Had a little treat to myself here this evening, 16th June 2024. I've been waiting to try here for some time and Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Everything was per from the ribs at the start, covered with a lovely homemade BBQ sauce. Then I had the Mac n Cheese with meats and the Tipsy Texan burger with a serving of fries and pots of sauce; BBQ, BBQ mustard, cheese and buffalo. The mac n cheese was brilliant, Creamy, cheesey, the toppings were wonderful, smoke House sausage and pulled pork. Then the burger was something else, stacked high and full of flavour, every bite was amazing. And if that was not enough, I finished on the peanut butter cookie ice cream sandwich, yes, homemade peanut butter cookies and Oh my, it was delicious. I will definitely be back for more! Great food and excellent service.

Me, my pregnant girlfriend and mother in law came in tonight and just wow, it was absolutely gorgeous the meat was amazing, the service was brilliant thank you so much to the team for looking after us we will be back

Can’t comment on the quality of the food as we didn’t stay that long! We arrived and it is a very small intimate restaurant; feels quite authentic which was pleasing. Unfortunately we were seated by a member of staff in a back corner and then forgotten about. No one approached us to give us a menu or offer us drinks. We waited for ten minutes and didn’t even receive a smile of acknowledgement (which in a restaurant with only 5 tables inside is very uncomfortable!) When a table who arrived after us were greeted and served right away we figured our business wasn’t wanted and left. Disappointing. No apology and no acknowledgement even as we walked past the staff stood by the door. I hope this isn’t the usual customer experience but it certainly was ours.

A lovely online order of food delivered by Pappy’s online shop. Plus I bought some sauces to try. Even though this lovely grub is sealed, it smells delicious. Looking forward to a fantastic family get together over the Bank holiday weekend. Swift delivery, well packed. Recommended by my sister, who is crazy for Texan BBQ.😀

Pretty tasty food, but very expensive considering the small portion size.

Food was good but when the bill came wow I was surprised. Tax wasn’t included in the price. Not once was this mentioned nor anywhere on the menu. Coke poured from a bottle then charged at £4.50 for 330ml before tax. Good was good but crazy expensive especially when they then add on tax after

Food was OK, but the service was ridiculous. We brought in a large group and pre ordered only to be told 'we were too busy to read the messages' and were sold out of items requested. After a large bill, they were unwilling to work out individual costs (fair enough) but after watching us split the bill, then to be told about service charge, that we then had to work out that they had charged across 3 other tables. It was a mess. The service ruined a perfectly good night.

Overpriced and horrible avoid!!! Have to pay tax was £10 for 2 half cokes that were out the plastic bottle fatty meat chips were horrible coleslaw horrible all was horrible can cook better at home better off going to Greg's to be honest!!!

If you like BBQ, and you like it cooked to perfection, and with the knowledge that a LOT of love and care has gone into the preparation and cooking of said bbq, in a friendly run environment -Run to Pappys. RUN!! Wait for the table, book the table, camp out overnight for the table. We will be back to hopefully taste that Key Lime pie before it gets sold out again. Special mention for the Brisket!! Chefs Kiss 😙🤌 They smashed it!!

This place is so good. This is a 5 star place all day long. A must visit if you like delicious tacos and brisket that melts in your mouth. Robin was wonderful, she opened up an outdoor area to accommodate our dog. The service was super quick. The food came out quick and hot. The portion sizes are very generous and such good value for money. The cocktails are wonderful and the people are so friendly (salt of the earth type people). We will be back for sure.

what a f****ng joke, 3 orders of tacos came to £50 which was fine however no where on the menu did it mention a compulsory 10% service charge or even the £12 TAX. Would have been fine if it mentioned tax not included or something among them lines but they didn’t until after we had eaten, our £52 bill came to £76 through hidden charges. In my opinion it is a joke and wouldn’t recommend in the slightest. The audacity to ask for a tip aswell I felt like walking out without paying all together. I paid and walked out a very unhappy man on what was suppose to be a happy occasion.

When i arrived i was given a table then shortly after was asked to move, we ordered our food and drink. The food arrived the chips were great but that was the highlight of the meal the mac and cheese was freezing like like straight out of the fridge and on too the burger the pulled pork was warm at best. I asked for it to be heated up i heard one of the staff in kitchen say jesus it is freezing when i recived my food back i wasnt given a fork and the food was only warm the staff were busy chatting to another couple and just wasnt what expected they diet coke was £4.50 not even for a pint which is ruthless. £54 2 cold burgers and 4 small cokes

I placed an online order for brisket, sausages and smoked meats for my family this Easter. This food order was delivered quickly in perfect condition, c/w instructions on how to reheat. I was very nervous especially for the brisket. I used a slow cooker to reheat the brisket and sausages..OMG. The sausages were beautifully smoked and tasty. The brisket was amazing, so succulent, moist, and totally delicious with the most fantastic flavour. I left in the slow cooker for 4 hours on low (as I was out and about), everything was hot right through. Never eaten brisket before, and I am totally impressed and cannot wait to visit Pappy’s when in that region in June. (I love ribs and chicken personally). It is highly likely that I will order more brisket online before then though😍♥️❤️ Thank you Pappy’s for such delicious food and our Easter dinner was a knockout success.

Me and my partner visited here from the midlands after seeing Pappys advertised online. It is a very quaint restaurant with amazing staff service, and great country music. We ordered the wings for a starter, which would have been better crispy and seasoned rather than soft skinned and chewy. However this may be preference. The main of ribs and Mac and cheese was delicious, some of the best Mac and cheese we have had. Now the biggest downside was that a 330ml coke cost £5… from a bottle, not tap. To this day it is the most expensive coke I have bought. We could not fault the service and loved that it was a family ran business. Service was great, however these are some friendly suggestions that would have boosted it to a 5 * review.

I had never heard of this place before a friend booked it for a meal. Food was amazing, didn't have to wait too long between ordering and eating, service was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Visited at the weekend and was very impressed. Small venue but that adds to the charm of the place as its a very intimate atmosphere. Food was amazing - we had to take half of it home as the portion sizes are immense (American sizes!). Would absolutely recommend the burgers. Enjoyed the cocktail of the month (some kind of watermelon thing) and a couple of beers. Staff were very friendly and attentive and down to earth and pricing is very reasonable considering the service and portion size. To top it off they were playing all my favourite country music - definitely a place to visit if you're a big country fan like myself. They ask for card details when booking and pre-warn you of a £30 charge if you fail to show up for your reservation, however i can totally understand why given the size of the venue and how popular it is. Will definitely visit again if we're ever back in Kendal :-)

My friends and I are studying abroad in the UK this semester but we’re from Texas! So when we saw that there was a Texas bbq we had to try it out! At first they couldn’t fit us in but then made room for us which was awesome!! We really didn’t think it would compare to bbq back home but we were SO wrong. The atmosphere was so welcoming and the staff was incredibly nice! It truly felt like home with the country music and the smell of good bbq. Pappy’s TX bbq had some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. Definitely go here!

Tried Pappys today for the first time with a group of friends. Had the sharing platter and sampled some tequilas, all the food was excellent, service great and very friendly staff. Hands down beats the usual texas bbq themed chain restaurants you usually find. A great addition to Kendal.

Not a great experience. After reading all the great reviews we couldn't wait to try here after finally getting a weekend to ourselves to travel up to Kendal from Liverpool. We booked for Saturday night and were one of the first seatings. They informed us the restaurant wasn't open but all bookings were to take place in the taco place which was fine and the lovely server showed us there. Once seated we got some drinks, nearly £5 for a 330ml bottle of coke was a lot but we thought we were treating ourselves. We were then informed they had no brisket and therefore couldn't do anything with brisket. We chose nachos to start which we thought were £4 but ended up £10 with two watering tomato salsas but a nice salsa Verde. When ordering the waitress told us she needed to check we had any as they used the last of them the night before. She then informed us they had prepped more. Not worth £10 for a plate of nachos unfortunately. I got the buffalo wings which she then had to check if they still had any. I was informed I would receive the last portion which I was happy about. The buffalo sauce was quite watery and barely covered the wings but the flavour wasn't bad, just subtle. Partner for the ribs to start which were lovely. I then chose the pulled pork burger and partner had the Dino rib. The Dino rib had a very intense flavour that ended up knocking me sick it was that overpowering but it was nice and moist just overseasoned to death. My pulled pork burger was inedible it was that dry it was similar to eating cardboard in a bun. It was also quite bland unfortunately. I was quite upset by this point as I couldn't eat my burger and the Dino rib wasnt too my personal liking which is I understand may have just been my opinion but it was unlike any rib I've had before. I imagine the brisket if it were there would have the same seasoning on. I informed the waitress the burger was too dry to eat and she asked if I wanted another, I said it was ok but thank you. I unfortunately didn't eat my main except for a handful of chips. They took the service charge off as an apology but that was it. At least it was something. Overall £89 for a meal I didn't really enjoy apart from the wings and some nachos. Overall there were too many things unavailable that if it were my business I simply would have closed and apologised. Instead of having a full night we decided to head home after this as our hearts just weren't in the night anymore after this... Unfortunately won't be back but hope other enjoy it x

Found this place by accident and wow just amazing the brisket was out of this world

The beef ribs was very dry.l drive more than 30 minutes to try it and was very disappointed .

So… the main dishes wasn’t so good, the briskets was delicious and the small dino also good, but the large and XL dino was over smoked and the meat was hard to eat, we hub they fix that.

Another fantastic meal at Pappy’s. The food here is definitely one of the best around. Cocktails are yummy and the place has a great atmosphere. Special mention to Kirsty she is brilliant at her job and looked after us so well ☺️ thank you!

Amazing food. Had the sharing platter with a mate and was plenty. Everything was cooked perfectly. They showed us the bbq area after and chatted to the pitmaster. Great experience will probably make more reasons to visit the area just to go there again.

Went here on a Sunday and it was very quiet. The food was great, really tasty, particularly the smoked brisket which was amazing. Our server was very friendly and chatty. It is pretty expensive but worth it.

We had the Pitmasters share platter. It was amazing! Every meat well smoked and delicious and some of the nicest beans I've ever eaten.

Called here last weekend, food was ok drink was nice, i left a 10% tip. then found out later they also added one on the bill already so i tipped twice, not impressed, no mention of it not on any signs and i missed it off the bill as i wasnt aware it was a thing outside of euope. i would not recommend calling as the food only ok but was very expensive . to the owner this is unacceptable. let the customer decide if they want to leave a tip, iv never seen this before.

Found this little gem whilst staying close by. Wow it was so amazing!! They was very busy but they still found us a table, so happy they did because the food was out of this world. Great service and wonderful atmosphere, great music too. Would 100 percent recommend:)

Looking for something to eat Kendal? We stumbled across Pappys BarBQ shack where owner Robyn and her staff welcomed us to some real style barbecue. Had the loaded Mac n Cheese, washed down with Mahargaritas. Even discovered that you can get it delivered via mail order. If you like BarBQ you'll love Pappy's!!! Sorry no photo's, eating great food, drinking Mahargaritas!!

Booked quite last minute, just a few hours before eating. Excellent food and service. Authentic nachos and the tacos were excellent.

Unbeatable pulled pork burrito. Delicious. Chicken wings also some of the best we’ve ever had.

I had heard about Pappy’s from a friend. It was recommended to me as the best bbq food outside of the U.S.A I am fortunate enough to have traveled the U.S.A extensively and can honestly say that it’s far from it. We booked a table over the phone for 2 people for 8pm. When we arrived there was a small seating area, sadly this meant that our table was still being used and we had a bit of a wait before it was clear. During the wait we had heard the waitress apologising to some leaving customers about the food, at this point we had some concerns but since a friend had recommended and you do get problems occasionally we decided to proceed. It was a short enough wait and we had time to look at the menu so we could order straight away. Sadly we intended on having the Dyno ribs but these were all sold out. We opted to have buffalo wings and sausage dippers for starters, followed by the sharing plater with the extra brisket. The starters arrived in good time the buffalo wings could have done with some more sauce but that’s my taste so I wasn’t on the whole disappointed. The Mrs had the sausage dippers and unfortunately they were so peppered but most importantly dry, I’m sure they were re heated. We would have given this a miss if the platter improved, sadly it got worse. All of the food over peppered but most importantly so dry it was almost uneatable, I have never had beef brisket as dry in my life. We had wanted to speak to the waitress to explain our displeasure but it was clear we’re being avoided. At the point we had been approached and asked if everything was ok I explained our displeasure in the over peppered dry food that was presented. We had been asked to wait as a manager was going to come and “have a word” The manager arrived and tried explaining Texas food was heavily peppered, if this is the case I can understand that but the dry food I couldn’t. Brisket, pulled pork, cooked ham, chicken Thighs, and sausages should not be dry, the manager agreed and apologised. Now at this point I would have been happy to pay for my starter and the drinks we had making the bill come to around £50, and I would have held back leaving a one star review and maybe have done a 2/3. They say in business you’re only as good as your worst employee. Unfortunately the manager knocked the drinks off but added a 10% service charge after we had been asked to wait for the table and said they would do better next time. The bill was £85 for food that we didn’t even eat.. I am aware of my rights and I know I didn’t need to pay in full, but if this is the best they were prepared to do then I couldn’t be bothered to discuss I just wanted to leave, what poor customer service. I personally own a business and employ, so I’m fully aware of the needs for good customer service. I’m afraid I received, poor food, followed by a poor service. 1 star is completely appropriate.

Went nearly an hour out my way travelling down through the lakes just to come here and boy was it worth it!! Only wish I lived closer. Had a recommendation of the brisket and was amazing for dessert was a key lime pudding yet again amazing. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to order online. Would 100% recommend going here if you're in the area

The pulled pork tacos are absolute flavour bombs. The meaty loaded fries are gorgeous.

Absolutely adore this hidden gem in Kendal. The food is sooooo tasty and the staff are always smiling. It was a little cold due to being an outdoor space however the shelter and heat lamps provide extra comfort.

I will never understand the bad reviews regarding the Brisket Plate. What are these people talking about? 😂😂 I have not had Breakfast, or Lunch today, and I am absolutely stuffed, and I there's still food left. 3 big slabs of smoked Brisket! See my photo... The brisket was wonderful and tender, and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and professional as always, whilst staying casual and chilled out. Love you guys! ♥️

Wow. Staying up here for work, and went the Tuesday night, had the tacos (taco Tuesday) and they were lovely. However, wanted to try more, so went back again tonight and got the sharing platter, and definitely wasn't disappointed. Everything was to die for. It's a shame this place isn't more local to me in Lincoln, they'd have my money on a regular basis!! Besides the food, drinks are fairly priced in my opinion, with a good selection and the server (didn't get her name 🤦) was brilliant. Ever so friendly and attentive and really makes it a nice experience, not just a meal out. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area and if I'm back up this way, I'll be there again in a heartbeat!

The food was really nice, very tasty. However £5 for 330ml of coke is insane, given a beer is £6, we had a great night but seeing that on the bill left a bad feeling. The club music playing outside was a bit loud and didn’t quite suit the atmosphere. Staff were great.

Had a lovely meal here, so lucky to have bagged a table last minute. The woman serving was very good - professional and attentive, but also really friendly. Great options for meat eaters and veggies - the corn and slaw were delicious, as were the chips and Mac & cheese. My partner said the brisket was amazing.

Amazing food. It's authentic Texan smoked BBQ and some of the best food I've ever eaten.

Mixed feelings about the food and dining experience. The appetizers (sausage dippers and wings) were amazing as was my sons chicken strips. My sons burger and the share platter unfortunately would have to be a 1 star as they were incredibly dry. Flavour was on point but we ended up leaving half of it on the plate. It was our own fault for not having pointed it out to the server during the meal and have it replaced and not when we asked for the bill. With regards to the dining experience, a table was booked for inside but when arriving, the server made a table ready in the corner outside. When I raised it, I was told that there is a problem inside and we have to sit outside. Squeezing 2 adults and 2 kids into a corner that should only fit 2 adults shouldn’t happen. The server very kindly moved us as soon as another table opened and it was very pleasant dining there so just highlighting a problem with your booking system when it should be noted.

Nice food but the portions of meat are way to small for the price. We had a meal yesterday (04 june), I ordered the brisket and it was filling but only because of the sides, for £27 I expected more than 3 small pieces of brisket

Lovely outdoor restaurant attached to the smokehouse meaning the food was smoky and sublime. Brilliant portions and great service. Perfect weather on the day meant it was nice to eat and drink outdoors. Would choose to eat again and explore the menu some more.

This is a hidden gem of a place In Kendal. The food is phenomenal, so full of flavour, dining pleasure. The service too, very friendly and all adding to a wonderful experience.

Can’t fault most of the food, tacos, fries and ribs were lovely and the speed at which it came out was great. The issues were that the staff were weird and abrasive, the prices were essentially London prices. £5 for 330ml of coke. At the end of our meal I asked for the pinto beans to be taken off the bill as they were bland. I then started to ask a staff member why they charged £5 for a can of coke at which point a manager came over to our table and questioned us on why we wanted the pinto beans taken off and when I asked her why the coke was £5 she said it was because they were glass bottles and was pretty defensive with me. Even had the cheek to add on 10% service charge when the server came to our table twice. At £18 for 3 tacos with zero sides coming with the meal you’d think they make enough money to not be doing a service charge but who knows, clearly just money hungry owners.

The perfect spot in Kendal. We moved back to the area in march and we've been looking for a new place to eat and now we would definitely think again about going elsewhere. This place is fantastic As a big BBQ fan, coming here was absolutely perfect for me. We started with the Sausage Dippers (Texan Hot Links and mustard BBQ sauce) Brisket for me and chicken tacos for my wife. The Brisket was soft and juicy, with a perfect smoke ring. The chicken tacos were absolutely amazing, 3 large tacos with a zingy topping. We can't wait to try the other tacos when we inevitably return. I've never been a margarita fan, but these margaritas might have just changed my mind. The bill came to just under £100, good value for money,, speedy service, a great setting filled with history and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Ordered 2 appetisers the smoked Sausage bites and the buffalo wings. Wings should have come with a sauce but the waitress dropped it and didn't replace it (must have thought we didn't notice.) Also had absolutely 0 spice when Pappys claim on the menu 'its spice challenge level heat' Sausage bites were lukewarm but tasted OK. The Queso Birria Tacos weren't great and had a weird taste and again were lukewarm. My partner ordered the Tipsy Texan Burger which came with brisket that dry and hard you could smash a window with it. All the staff were lovely and I cannot fault them but the food needs some work. We didn't say anything at the time as we didn't want to cause a fuss but I can honestly say we wouldn't revisit and I couldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We had a fantastic anniversary meal at Pappy's Texas BBQ and I would recommend it to anyone we had the sharing platter with additional brisket (which was the best part of the meal) it easily fed both of us with room to spare. The only thing I'd add would be extra wraps but we asked and they provided them. The Mac and cheese, pulled pork, brisket and sausage were top notch you won't go wrong ! Absolute hidden gem and we will be back just for the brisket !

Travelled here just for the BBQ. The brisket was amazing, and the ribs were spicy and just perfect! The mac and cheese. Yummm. Well worth the drive and have a wonder around Kendal. If you have ever had real texan bbq then you will be a super happy camper. Staff and owner, Robin, couldn't be nicer and more welcoming if they tried.

Went on Sunday 27th March. Service was superb even though there was one plate that wasn't as hot as we would have wanted but the issue was resolved with no fuss. Food was excellent and we would definitely go back again. Take the time to go and visit for yourselves.

Phenomenal BBQ Brisket! Pit Master and owner of the smoke house and restaurant, Robin offered exceptional hospitality at the Taco Bar on a rainy weekday afternoon for lunch . We ordered the brisket plate and were blown away by the superb melt in your mouth top notch beef. The side dishes were perfect. Seldom have we had such excellent bbq and wonderful service. We will definitely make an effort to return to give their tacos and margaritas a go. And we will be back for more BBQ soon.

We booked this place especially as we where staying locally and it was my birthday, we had heard about this place via a TV program about the lakes, how the owner from from Texas with a great back story (must read ), we were not dissapointed, lovely warm welcome, lady who served us was both warm, friendly and knowledgable about the product, during a conversation I mentioned it was my birthday and she offered to make me a birthday cocktail, when I said I don't drink (alcohol) she made me a alcohol free one, how thoughtful, we didn't wait long for the food and it was amazing, I had baby ribs with chips,slaw and picked gurkins (I think) and my husband had the beef brisket with chips, slaw, pickles and a bean dish, we loved our whole experience and will be back

We ordered the Pappy’s Thanksgiving Meal Kit for Two and it was awesome! Ordering was easy online and delivery was great. The food was well packaged and the portions were very generous. Each meal kit was for 2 people but I ordered 3 meal kits as thanksgiving has become a bit of a tradition in our family and a great excuse to get together and enjoy amazing food. The kit came with reheating instructions which were spot on and very easy to follow. The food was delicious and there was plenty for all of us. The smoked turkey was so good and succulent and the green bean casserole and sweet potato mash is just delicious and a firm family favourite. It even came with a jar of Hawkshead relish cranberry sauce which was also delish! We chose the brownies for desert and oh my goodness they were the best! Thank you Team Pappys and happy thanksgiving to y’all 🧡 xx

Super, cosy little restaurant down one of Kendal's alleys, just off the high street. We shared the Pitmaster's platter and upgraded to the brisket, which was a *very* good decision! It was truly delicious - succulent, tasty meat cooked to perfection. The sides were amazing too - the chips were so crispy. We decided to try the Michelada and Chelada (drinks) which were interesting. Both were great, but of the two, I preferred the Chelada (the beer with ice, lime and salt) as this complemented the food better. The service was friendly and efficient too. We'll be back soon!!

What a lovely little hidden Gem. Staff were excellent. Food very tasty. Outside seating is covered and they had a side panels on the covered area. Heaters over each table. So very comfortable for wi yet outside eating. Thanks. I’ll be back.

So glad we found this place. Tucked away at the end of an alley. Really warm welcome and amazing food. Had the beef brisket plate and the loaded hot dog both were delicious. Generous portions and piping hot. Frozen Margaritas were fab too. Definitely visit if you are in Kendal

Uma boa comida num lugar escondido. O serviço é de excelente qualidade e o grande diferencial. Todos muito atenciosos, corteses, e educados. A comida é excelente, desde o Mac and cheese, os hambúrgueres e os briskets. Não se esqueça de pedir uma entrada pois vale a pena. Não se preocupe com o aviso de 30 minutos para o Dino ribs pois a espera vale muito a pena.

Great food for bbq lovers. Ribs a bit dry. Lovely pulled pork. Was driving so couldn't check the beers.

My husband & I came & ordered just a main meal each. WoW the portions are more then generous. The staff were soo nice & friendly Thank you Ladies for a lovely evening. We drive back to Manchester tmrw. Now don’t forget to get a place set up there very soon so we can visit closer to home. 😘 THANK YOU

Fantastic. We were a group of 9. Everything arrived at the same time and the food was great. I had the XL beef rib which was outstanding. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Not overly impressed, food wasnt great, even the drinks served in metal cups had a metallic taste to them.

Good atmosphere and great concept but when the chips are the best thing on your plate it is a little disappointing. We have never been before and went from Google reviews which were great. NY ribs were solid and inedible and my partners been brisket was average. They were very good and gave a partial refund. We were very much looking forward to having such a great idea for an eatery where we live but unfortunately I don't thing we will return.

If you love ribs or indeed any BBQ style this is one that can't be missed. Turned up probably as they were just about to close and were still happy to serve. Food and service were excellent and couldn't recommend highly enough the short rib. Server knew everything about the food preparation and how the chefs worked. Unfortunately we were visiting from NZ so can't guarantee when we will be back but have family nearby so you will see us again!

There may be better, more authentic and delicious Texan barbecue food in the UK. But I don’t know where. I’ve eaten takeaway twice from Pappy’s, whose owners are part of a proud family tradition of Texan barbecuers, and each time it surpassed expectations. The chicken thighs are tender on the inside, with an umami smokey bark on the outside. Pulled pork tacos are generous and moreish, cut through with a bit of chopped gherkin, a subtle barbecue tang and the fat rendered out. The baby back ribs were standout, chewy, toothsome. (We could have eaten ten, but had to make do with six). It’s not fancy, which is right for a barbecue place. Eat in and you’re sitting at simple tables, undercover and warmed by heaters when necessary. But time, knowledge and love have been poured into the food, which is far more important.

Amazing food. Discovered accidentally and so happy I did. The food & staff were amazing. I’ll be making trips to Kendal specifically to eat here and will be ordering from their online shop. It was the best burger I have ever eaten

Don't bother, ordered sharing platter, at around £40. There was probably less than £5 of raw Ingredients. They allege 250g of raw ingredients each, Sounds good, but when you weigh up bread, a couple of sausages, 4 tiny slices of cooked meat, pulled pork was off menu, coleslaw and oh yes the meatless ribs it does add up....How this was supposed to satisfy 2 average people is a mystery.

We had a works social get together at Pappy's Texan BBQ. There was 18 of us. We had to pre order with there being so many of us. The food was promptly served with great service and staff. We sat outside under a covering with heating which was great as it was a damp evening. Everyone said the food was great, service and atmosphere was great too. Would highly recommend. Thank you Pappy's for a great evening 😀

If you visit Kendal, this little gem of a place is definitely worth a visit. Tucked away down a small side alley you’ll be greeted with a friendly smile and great food. We had the Brisket and loaded Mac & cheese. Both dishes came out well presented with decent sized portions, enough for 2 to share. The slow smoked brisket was succulent with nice Smokey flavour, complimented with a side of beans, fries and fresh home made slaw. The loaded mac & cheese is highly recommended, topped with a generous portion of pulled pork was cooked to perfection, with pickled red onion and bbq sauce was packed with flavour and filling. I will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

I had a mixed plate that showed on the menu 3 slices of brisket, some pulled pork and 1 rib. I thought yeah that looks good. It looked ok untill I realised there was 1 piece of brisket and 1piece of brisket fat. When I pointed this out to the member of staff he just ignored my complaint. And there was a service charge! They don't care what they give you and ignore your complaints and charge you for the pleasure. Won't be back.

We ate here on 7 April 2022. The outdoor heated tent setting was great, as was the Australian waiter. The burger was a hit. My only complaint was of my brisket platter. While I got a pile of fries and a tub of beans, I only received 3 strips of brisket. I have since seen a review where the customer got 6 pieces of brisket. As I paid £19, I think I didn't do too well. Great experience, though.

Dog friendly ! Me and my partner have a shared love for BBQ and we've been to several despite not living near any. Definitely this place is the best by far ! Perfect portion sizes ( first time in years I've had a three course meal) Tiny bit over priced for some stuff but lovely and only slightly. Well worth the experience.

Absolutely brilliant! I used their postal service, and even though the post was delayed 24hrs on the couriers side due to storm Arwen, they had packed everything so well that the ice packs inside were still frozen! The beef rib is GORGEOUS, and the chicken (which i thought would be white noise) was moist and tender and perfect. I'm looking forward to making the trip to Kendal and visiting the restaurant!

I'm sorry about my bad review, but this was my sixth time I had bad meat here. Sausage is usually good, but I guess that's easy. The other meat types has always been chewy and dry. I don't mean to be mean, but that's how it is. I have always given it a few months in between my orders, hoping it's a bad chef or meat or something as I love bbq, but this was probably the last time. The sides are fine too though.

Not somewhere you might stumble across but worth finding! Pappy's offers something different and fitted the bill exactly for us today. Making the most of the friendly Texan owners family recipes, we enjoyed the platter for two at £40. This would easily have fed 3 hungry adults and was a carnivores delight, we left with a doggy bag. The meats were all top quality and the sides fantastic, especially the Mac and cheese. The only draw back was the outside seating although it is covered and has heat lamps.This probably explains why it is not open all year round. Definitely worth going too.

Food was brilliant. Service was lovely. A friendly atmosphere. I am a fan of low and slow BBQ, and this is proper, authentic Texas style. It felt like we were back in Austin!
