Love this pub when visiting Grange Over Sands, so friendly, make you feel like it's your local

Small pub with an upstairs room for darts, pool, table tennis and plenty of TVs watch sports on. Quick service...friendly locals

Miserable barman, was going to eat there but were totally put off by the service we received when ordering drinks on our arrival.

On 11th match 1 hour before they close rude guy with glasses said we closed and said we only got two guys in and my dad said now you got 4 people and bar guy said closed so won't be going back last time he was drinking our leftovers drink so he is drinking on the job and closing early and losing customers 😔 And other pub was open so we went there

We were away for the weekend and wandered into the keg & kitchen in the middle of their quiz night. An earlier review references an American Werewolf, but that couldn't be further from the truth. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and clientele. Great spot!

Spoke to a local who said this pub do good takeaway food which is what we were after to watch the footy while the kids were in bed. We ordered 2 pizzas, curly fries and loaded fries and they were delicious. The pizzas are probably the best in the area. The loaded fries were so moreish, I loved them. Will return when visiting again.

Whilst waiting for the train we went for a coffee in the cafe. The staff were lovely and the coffee and scone, delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the train journey and the pint at Lakeside. I struggled to get on and off the train but the platform staff were on hand with steps to help at both stations. Thank you.

Good ale not much choice but what we had was good and friendly atmosphere within understated sports pub/bar.

Brilliant. I have been to the KEG a few times now and I have had a great time every time. I mainly go to watch the football, lots of TVs and really nice atmosphere whatever teams are playing. the bar has a brilliant choice of drinks all at a good price, And is great place to meet friendly locals. The food is top notch too.

As a tourist, in one of the busiest areas of England, what right do I have to criticise? The Keg and Kitchen proports to be an establishment for the locals ~ and that’s exactly what it is is. If the locals sat at the bar can’t string together a sentence without expletives; who am I to judge? If the barman whispers under his breath when I ask for drinks, how do I know what sort of day he’s having? If other tourists attempt to order a coffee - do they not know the cost of a liquor license? Grange is full of coffee shops - and is it not insulting to go into a pub and ask for tea or coffee? The drinks I ordered were excellent - a lovely smooth pint (even if it was larger - heathen I’m afraid). I don’t care if the barman doesn’t acknowledge my presence when I order a drink. If I wanted pleasantries, or basic manners I should have went to the Commodore with the rest of the tourists. No, my preference is the Keg, where you can experience real hospitality. My only regret was not being able to stay for quiz night - unfortunately every table was reserved. Quite understandable, I suppose. But I must finish by complementing the management on the excellent job they are doing - it can’t be easy to set the bar at the current level (no pun intended). Personally, I would ban all tourists.

Called in mid afternoon so can't give atmosphere a true representation but the pub was busy, the beer was excellent and the barman friendly and helpful.

The welcome at the Slaughtered Lamb in 'American Werewolf' was friendlier than here! Very embarrassing as, being the local, I'd suggested it to meet friends from abroad. The barman was downright rude, unwelcoming and vile. I definitely won't be going there again. On asking around today he apparently has something of a reputation and I'm surprised this establishment survives. Avoid.

Came to watch the football as not many places to watch it on Grange over sands. Staff were great, beer refreshing and reasonably priced and staff very welcoming. Thank you.

Brilliant pub with good ales and really chatty staff. We were there at lunchtime when food wasn't available, but if as good as the beer it will be very good indeed.

Lovely pub with nice balcony to.chill out after a long walk with the dog. Morgan was made qelcome and I had a fabulous pint of Last Wolf from nearby Unsworth's Yard brewery. Would like to have stayed longer and will go back before our holiday is over.

If you’re a tourist from a nice part of the country who likes to drink and dine in Luxury establishments then this is probably not for you. Yes paddy the barman is not the most chatty bloke and does not crack a smile but that’s just who he is…he pulls a good pint and has good knowledge of the spirits behind the bar. We did not listen to the few bad reviews and are glad we took the chance. We had a good drink and laugh whilst listening to some good music. Happy tourist!

Friendly pub a few good beers definitely a place to meet the locals.

In here they give you good service and everything that is in the keg is worth your money. I would rate this a 5 out a 5 with all the service that they give and what they offer the food that is there is really good. Always checking up on how it is

Me and my girlfriend are visiting the area and popped into the local for the game and for some food and drink and when we asked the bar tender about food he then proceeded to explain that they cannot do food without bookings. Which is absolutely fine, unfortunately… The barman’s manner was poor and frankly quite rude, we have never been to Grange before so we didn’t know what the routines were in the local pubs and restaurants. The sour attitude has now made us feel like we don’t belong here and that he would like us to leave. Will not be coming here again!!!!!

This is our local and the beers are superb (my hubby is a big fan) Also have a good range of gins, vodkas and rum. Real log fire and sport shown daily. Pizza and burgers are homemade and very good quality.

Friendly semi sports bar with at least 3 hand pulled ales on. Pizza was good very thin crisp and not too over tomatoed or cheese laden. Good value

Alright as a locals pub. Reasonable prices. Decor stuck in the 1960s early 70.

As the 3 stars say, it's ok. Perfectly fine for a drink but nothing remarkable was my first impression. The last rough of the two drinking establishments in the village.

If you have read the reviews you might have seen a mixed bag. We live in Grange and have been visiting this pub for a few years (even before we moved here) It is down to earth good food, ales and service. In the winter there are lovely big log fires. In the summer you can sit on the terrace. They have live music, sports nights and quiz nights. Yes, it is full of locals but hey, the locals love it! Come in - the locals WILL talk to you! p.s. The pizzas are brilliant.

We were staying at Haven and wanted to find a good pub close by that was proper pub food, this place did not disappoint, really friendly staff and the burgers were so good. Our little one also had a sundae all to himself which he loved. Really good prices too

This may not be the most glamorous establishment in town but we found the locals to be welcoming and very friendly. the bar staff were also very friendly. Some very nice beers on offer at very reasonable prices.

We tried to visit this ‘pub’ on Sunday for some food. We walked into the ‘pub’ and was told abruptly by a meme we of staff (who might want to attend customer service lessons) that they don’t do food Sundays. There were no apologises or explanations and it was certainly a case of a your face does not fit your not coming in. It felt a very clicky local’ pub’ if your not a local then your not welcome here. I would defiantly advise everyone to avoid!

Nos alojamos en Grange durante una semana y debimos haber tomado una copa en el Keg & Kettle la mayoría de los días, el personal era amable y acogedor y los lugareños estaban felices de charlar incluso con lo que está sucediendo en todo el mundo: las regulaciones para track n trace y distancing en el bar era muy bueno; tuvimos que reservar una mesa un par de veces, especialmente cuando el fútbol estaba encendido (¡¡a menos que el Arsenal estuviera jugando!!! había muchas mesas libres :) mucha variedad de bebidas, excelentes cervezas, las pizzas se veían deliciosas. Un pub muy agradable, muchas gracias por la gran hospitalidad.

Vinimos al Keg and Kitchen para intentar cenar. Entramos y esperamos junto a la puerta y al principio nos ignoraron por completo, así que nos acercamos al bar. El hombre que estaba sirviendo miró hacia arriba y dijo enérgicamente "tienes que registrarte en la puerta" a lo que mi socio respondió "solo nos gustaría saber si estás sirviendo comida". El hombre respondió "no, esta noche no", lo cual fue bastante justo, pero sus modales y comportamiento fueron groseros en el mejor de los casos. Evitará en el futuro.

Llamado para almorzar hoy pasando por Grange. No tenía ni idea de dónde comer, pero elegimos bien. Sándwich de langostinos y bistec con patatas fritas y ensalada. ¡Las mejores patatas fritas! Es un lugar encantador que se siente bien cuidado y el personal y los lugareños fueron muy amables y nos hicieron sentir como un local por la noche. Went here whilst staying at the Woodlands hotel and pine lodges very welcoming pub in Grange super log fire to take the chill out of you after a walk on front!

Estaba un poco decepcionado cuando llegué aquí inicialmente, ya que según algunas de las críticas anteriores esperaba algo como la cantina de Mos Eisley. Pero es un pub decente. Si bien podría ser un pub local, no era hostil y tenía una buena selección de cerveza a un precio razonable. No comí allí, pero las pizzas se veían bien, aunque nada demasiado lujoso. Simplemente no actúes como un turista autorizado (lo cual sería molesto en cualquier pub) y es un buen lugar para tomar unas cervezas.

Called in a couple of times for a beer whilst out walking locally with kids and a dog. Always found a seat, people moved around to let us in, and choice of beer was decent enough for us. TV's kept us up to date with the footie scores and although we didn't eat, food looked good and plates were being emptied. Overall it's a pub that does what a pub does, nice one.

We ventured into this pub for a well deserved drink after our journey and settling into our rental. We could not find anywhere else so it really had to do. No hay muchos bares en Grange over Sands, pero este está en el centro de la ciudad y fue perfecto para un refresco después de nuestra caminata. Los deportes están en la televisión y parecían ser los locales los que más aprovechaban a los demás clientes. Los niños eran bienvenidos y la variedad de cervezas en oferta era extensa. Ofrece un menú de comida, sin embargo, no puedo comentar sobre eso ya que solo nos quedamos a tomar una bebida. Los precios fueron excelentes en comparación con nuestra ciudad natal de Edimburgo. No es nada fuera de lo común, pero un lugar agradable para una pinta.

A horrible experience - unfriendly staff and locals. Got served with cider when I had asked for a lager - no apology or offer to exchange. Couldn't wait to get out. Go to the Commodore - it's much better and the staff are lovely.

Delicious takeaway from here tonight. New York style spicy meat pizza, loaded fries, chicken wings and strips. All beautifully fresh, very tasty & great value. You can eat in as well and they have a fantastic family room.

Stayed in Grange for 3 nights and came to this pub every night. Such a canny little pub with reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff. Only do food Friday through Sunday which was a bit disappointing but there is a Chinese restaurant, The Amber Grove, next door which was spot on. Quiz night on the Wednesday was fun too, would recommend for a couple of sociables.

We passed the Keg and Kitchen on our Travels, and thought as the Football was being advertised we would call in one Evening.On entry it was quite busy and most of the Tables and Chairs had been took, apart from a Splattering of empty intermittent seats,around a Particular Table.As my other half was struggling to Stand due to a Ongoing Foot problem I asked whether it would be possible for my other half to sit on one of the Vacant Seats, where I was told that they were already taken.Low and Behold almost 45 mins later 3 Friends of those sat at a Table came in and sat at the Vacant Seats.Had we ordered Food we would have most probably been expected to eat Stood Up and even though many could see that she was struggling to stand,not one offered up their seat to give her a moments rest.The place certainly did not come across as the Friendliest of Pubs that I have come across.Needless to say we drank up and left and found ourselves in the Clubhouse of the Caravan Site which we were staying at with Tables and Chairs of abundance.

Went here to watch the France Belgium semi final and, to be honest, if I we had been looking for a classy stylish place for a pint, would have gone elsewhere, but time was pressing and we knew they were watching the footy so we stayed.

Came across this fab pub when visiting the lakes for Cartmel races. Great choice of real ales and gins..... and the food..... gorgeous and so reasonably priced. Great service from the lovely girl behind the bar, I just can’t recommend this pub highly enough. Seriously good value for money , I can’t wait to return....

Couldn’t believe we found such a fantastic sports bar to watch the England v Columbia match in a small town such as Grange Over Sands. Food was excellent (and cheap!) and the beer was extremely well kept. The landlord and his son behind the bar were both very efficient. Would highly recommend

I love this pub on a Friday night after work, yes there are more blokes than girls and yes, the tellies are on, but the food and service are brilliant and so cheap. The loaded fries are £4 and are enough to fill me up after I have been on my feet for nearly nine hours. Pizzas are lovely and home made and burgers are recommended by my other half. A great night out with plenty of money left to return the following night for a repeat performance

Got to be a bargain!! £1 for a cup of tea. Served to us by a real fire in a teapot by very friendly owners. Soon to be a wine bar also. Look forward to that as we are moving to the area

Stumbled in here after a long walk along the prom (and back!) in desperate need of sustenance. A pint and a generous helping of veggie nachos later and all was good with the world. Exceptional value for money and nicely presented and cooked. If you are tempted to try one of the many cafes instead of this pub, don't be.

The happy hour menu and drink prices are decent here. Just make sure to tell the host/hostess that you want to order from the happy hour menu before you’re seated. Only some tables can order from that menu. This seems really arbitrary because there is not a clear separation of spaces, and why not make all of the space “happy”? Our group of six left without feeling like it was a great experience.... disappointing.
