The best restaurants in Windermere Bowness South South Lakeland North West

We had such a pleasant surprise when eating here today. The menu was limited because the owner was away but the staff member still made us what we wanted for breakfast and so much went into it in terms of time, effort and presentation. The food was tasty, very warm and good value for money. They even brought the dog a vege sausage too.

Small takeaway but great value. I had salad and a honeycomb crunch and husband had baguette which was stuffed full. Great value for a quick lunch to eat on the way. Obviously used by the locals so worth checking out

Such a relaxing atmosphere, never seems to be overcrowded, unless we've just been lucky. But we had plenty of room to move around and lots of space to have a conversation without being on top of the next table. Ate here a few times, lunch, dinner and breakfast on different days and all good, but the full Willow breakfast is wow. And the gamon steak is delicious. Im looking forward to going back next year. Staff are so polite and really go out their way to help. Great place.

Really enjoyed our stay. We stayed here during a snowy weekend and it is just a nice cozy place to be. Rooms are immaculate and well furnished. The living room is a great place to spend time with its gas fireplace. Breakfast is wonderful and Rob caters to all food allergies. My wife has Celiac and requires a GF meal and there were no worries. The hosts are wonderful. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves and will be returning.

We always come here when we come to the Lake District. We Came here for my birthday and couldn’t fault it. The food is excellent. Especially the dips with popadoms our favourite.

Gift shop is not very complete, quite small and not too much to choose from.

Amazing food Great cocktails and large portions.

Good ale, food a bit hit and miss. Pie was hot, mash and gravy cold. Steak baguette was tough and served cold.

Average food with very poor customer service. After our dishes were taken after we had eaten we waited for over 30 mins for someone so we could order another drink but was literally blanked. In the end we got up and asked for the bill which took another 20 mins with not one word spoken to us just placed on the table and off they went. Really poor wouldn’t come back

It was a busy Saturday evening but we managed to book a table for 2 for upstairs. ( Valentines Weekend ) Lovely decor, ambience and staff who were efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our starters and both opted for sizzling mains & oh boy, were they sizzling. Flavours were amazing accompanied with sticky rice. Would go again.

What a wonderful lunch, fabulous homemade soup with a sandwich and chips. The staff were wonderful with such a warm welcome. We will definitely visit again.

Excellent food and service as always!! We always visit Mela Spice whilst on holiday in Bowness and I can't recommend it enough, our favourite Indian restaurant by far!

Heard about this place for many years. So small. Waiters brilliant. Cocktails very poor. So small. It worth the money. Not impressed

Gorgeous food, would definitely recommend. We walked in at about 6pm but it got very busy afterwards so book if you’re planning on going any later
