The best restaurants in Windermere Bowness South South Lakeland North West

Booked for Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very welcoming and explained what the meals were that we were unsure of. We had glasses of Rose wine both evenings Starters, mains and desserts were delicious and we both thoroughly enjoyed what we had. Will definitely be back next time we are in Bowness

A basic and limited menu. No kids menus. All found something they wanted to order. My calzone with a good portion of beef Bolognese sauce on the side was heartwarming. The service was attentive and friendly. The best Italian we have enjoyed in the lakes.

Great curries, tasty And flavoursome. Fast service And helpful staff. They recommended different food fór us to try, So we could taste as much as possible.

We ordered battered fish. A Inside the large amount of greasy overcooked batter was a tiny amount of dried up fish. I notice there are very few reviews for 2024, it seems it was much better in 2021. The only positive was mthe waitress who was very attentive and discounted the bill.

Good food as you would expect from a mid range restaurant. Nothing too oily. Quick service. Friendly staff. Standard Bangladeshi food. You can’t expect more in a tourist spot like Bowness on Windermere.

We come here every time we visit Bowness, and always will. Lovely staff, nice food, great cocktails and a perfect environment indoors or out.

We have been coming here since 2004. Alpine serves the best breakfast in Bowness. It is not pretentious like other cafes springing up and is not a tourist trap. It is where locals get their breakfast - simply the best!

Lovely portion size for the money! We sat outside and the weather was lovely, but the street is a bit noisy (not the restaurants fault). Good place to stop at in Bowness!

Wow! That sums it up pretty well. The food was out of this world. Honestly, one of the best Thai meals I have ever had. Great service and reasonably priced. I had prawn massaman and my partner had chicken penang. Beautifully cooked, great flavour and not too spicy. Thank you 🙂

The food was poor. The waiters were lovely and we were able to order rotis even though they weren’t on the menu. However the food was not good. We cook better curries at home.

Five of us had dinner here on New Year's Eve, and it was absolutely brilliant. The restaurant was very busy which was expected for it being New Year's Eve, but we were sat at a small table to have a drink until our booked table was available. The staff were all lovely, very kind and constantly checked on us as we had our meal. The Thai Green Curry was delicious - I did think it could have been a bit thicker, so added some rice to bulk it up, but the taste was amazing. The Hiney Duck was also very good. We will definitely be back next time.

We had cocktails 241 and some other lunch items. It was really busy . Some other holiday makers were giving Scarlett and another girl hell. Kept on and on and really I think more importantly it's better to resolve the issue. Anyhow Scarlett and the other lady sorted it out and one of their colleagues had been made cry. It's not easy being in hospitality when it's busy ...so please be kind people

Best breakfast in bowness by far , very friendly and always welcoming. Very clean and food always served hot. Faultless give it a try. Would always return thank you Anka and team.
