KD's Cafe in South Lakeland

Lovely breakfast, I had the vegetarian breakfast and the sausages were delicious. The owner was so lovely and chatty and I loved that you got a custard cream with your cup of tea - it’s always coffee drinkers that get the biscuit!! Definitely recommend a visit.

Really nice homey feel. The food was very tasty and quickly served. We had a great breakfast. The eggs were cooked to perfection. So friendly, will come back again!

Called in here for coffee and breakfast, my wife had toast I had the fried egg sandwich. Food was spot on coffee perfect. Even allowed to take the dog in. 🐶

After an exhausting day we headed back to the hotel in need of refreshments & a light bite, lots of cafes to chose from but this appealed & we weren’t disappointed, was going to be lattes only but decided on a BLT to share, it was so filling & plenty of bacon which was nice & chunky too, thoroughly enjoyed it, if you’re out with your 4 legged friend, they’re dog friendly too & with great food at reasonable prices what’s not up like?

What a great little cafe. My 5 friends and I descended on this cafe at lunchtime. The staff were so accommodating making sure we were as close to each other as possible. The food was no nonsense, great tasting food and a good sensible price. All food arrived at the same time and everyone enjoyed the meals immensely, so if you’re thinking of visiting Windermere, this is a must cafe to visit. Staff great, food great and in a very clean environment.

9 of us arrived at 9.15 am on a Saturday morning, we usually, only ride to Bowness on Windermere in Summer it's a 130 mile round journey, but the expected dry , sunny weather didn't arrive, now to the food and service we were greeted with smiles and nothing was too much, food was beautiful like always, after a 65 mile slog to get up to Windermere a full breakfast, fresh 🍊 orange and cappuccino is just what we want, we were cold and damp so we asked to move inside, that was no trouble at all, just great service and food 👏👏👏 Chorley Wide Awake Club Riders.

We visited on a rainy Monday morning in search of somewhere cosy for breakfast and this place was perfect, the lady who served us was so nice and friendly. Really down to earth and the chef was lovely too. Just felt at home in there straight away. The full English breakfast was so nice! Everything cooked to perfection and when I asked for no beans I was offered an extra hash brown etc. That was a nice touch. The coffee was delicious aswell. It’s a little bit set back from the Main Street so not obvious to find but if you head for quarry rigg you soon stumble across it. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for breakfast. Oh and they made our little dog feel welcome aswell :) Can’t wait to go back in a couple of months. Thankyou!

Felt like I was in primary school with a bulldog headmistress. No warm & friendly greeting here - we just got barked at by the fierce waitress. We could clearly hear her complaining to other staff about customers outside when she went back in. Lots of other warm & friendly cafes in Bowness.

It was ok. Food was a bit over cooked. Service was a bit slow.

After trying many other places to eat and having no luck (menu, atmosphere etc) we found this gem. Martin was so welcoming and the food is excellent. Lovely friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely recommend

We had a dairy and gluten intolerance in our group and they made changes to meals and drinks we wanted easily and without making us feel like we were asking too much (which doesn't happen everywhere). The food was really tasty and the milkshakes and hot chocolates were very decadent. We will definitely be back.

Fuimos a desayunar alli al ver buena valoracion en google,pero fue toda una decepcion.Sirven el tipico desayuno ingles,de calidad normal,y algun trozo de tarta de calidad tirando a baja.La sorpresa vino al ver que nos cobraban nada menos que 42libras (50 euros) por el mismo desayuno que hemos tomado todos los dias en nuestro periplo por GB (3 platos de egg on toast con bacon,2 cafe latte y una tarta).Como su carta solo incluye el egg on toast pero no el añadido de bacon,no pudimos comprobar el precio,y nos acabaron cobrando ese plato mas caro que el english breakfast completo.Ademas,el local no es nada bonito en su interior,aunque la terraza esta bien.

Love this café. I pop in for one of the very best flat white coffees with oat milk whenever I can. My dog is always welcome. Everyone is so friendly.

Fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Quite pricey for what you get but everywhere is putting prices up due to the economic climate. No soup as was being made at 12pm.

Just returned from a weekend in Bowness. Two days straight we went for takeaway coffee before our days walking. Great service both times and amazing coffee. Food looked and smelt Great so will be back to try on our next visit.

When we visit Bowness this is our cafe of choice for coffee and lunch. The staff are really friendly. The menu is plentiful, the food delicious home made. Coffee is great. Just what you want for a lovely lunch.

Tasty breakfast for myself and granddaughter. Good quality bacon and sausage served and perfectly cooked eggs. Friendly service and reasonably priced. I would recommend as there is a great breakfast choice.

Had a great breakfast and cappuccino this morning. Pleasant chat with guy originally from Wallasey who served me. Perfect.

Enjoyed lunch here so much, it’s become a regular spot for my wife and I when we’re visiting the Lake District. The fish-finger and club sandwiches here are awesome, as are the milkshakes. Quite a sun trap even in the autumn months - making for a great alfresco lunch stop.

We stopped here halfway through our treasure trail around Bowness. It's a cute little diner/cafe. We ordered 3 breakfasts, one vegetarian. The food wasn't anything special, it was actually quite bland. The service was pretty slow, but they were busy. We were there for over an hour, which just for breakfast is a long time. The staff were great though, friendly. And it was all quite reasonably priced.

Well what can I say, great find, fantastic staff, awesome entertainment. Myself and my friends have throughly enjoyed our visit and we will be back 100%

I visied here for lunch whilst on a day out in Windermere with a friend. What a great choice we made. Really lovely little independant cafe. Very clean, friendly staff, plenty of choices and prices quite exceptable for a busy tourist area. We don't get...

We were told about this café and certainly glad we visited. We ordered lunch here. We had sandwiches which were fresh and really thick. The banana milk shake was to die for and the chocolate milk shake as well.

This cafe has changed hands over the last couple of years since our last visit but still uses the KD name. Very expensive - the full monty breakfast wasn't what I would call a full monty with 1 snotty egg & only 1 each of other produce with 1 piece of toast, which was almost still bread. The hot beef & onion baguette was nice although it wasn't hot & the extra side of chips which were also barely warm, were charged at an additional £2 for just a handful of thin fries! I almost fell through the floor when a breakfast, baguette & chips & 2 cans of coke (charged at £1.95 each!) cost almost £26! I don't like to slate people's businesses as I know these are difficult times for everyone, but the prices are way too expensive for what is being served. Sorry, but we won't be visiting again.

This was a warm friendly place, very clean. Smashing pot of tea and the beef and onion sandwich platter was amazing with nachos,salad and colslaw on the side. Very fresh. My husband had tuna mayo, onion sandwich with the side order and was crammed with the tuna and onions. Well worth a visit. Not over priced either.

The breakfast was well worth the money properly one offvthe best breakfast I've had .Staff were amazing very friendly kept asking if everything was OK and if we needed anything else definitely go again

We really enjoyed our stay. We only stopped for something of a snack in the afternoon but we thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife had a mango and strawberry infusion which is difficult to come across. Very friendly staff.

We were very welcome here and they made room for us specially. Drinks were tasty and they came with a lotus biscuit which is an added touch in my opinion. We will definitely pop in again.

Little gem of a cafe that is dog friendly with a good breakfast menu and milkshakes. Very friendly staff and efficient service.

Clean toilets a pleasant garden just off the town road. Good coffee and cakes. We took a outside table, it was very nice. Then some nicotine addicts arrived and we had to put up with their stink. We may take an inside table next time.

Customer service was A*. Staff couldn't do enough for us - citronella candle to ward off wasps as we were sat outside. Food was amazing and the milkshakes.... OMG they were to die for. Thank you again for your hospitality. We will be sure to visit you again soon.

Very nice fresh and tasty food. The scones and cake were fresh and fragrant. The sandwiches and the paninis likewise were very tasty and we ate all. Tea was excellent and they had soy option. Must visit place if you want light bites to eat and don;t want a hole in your pocket. Four of us had stomach full at approx. £10 per person.

I've been meaning to write this ever since our holiday in July. Such a lovely, friendly and welcoming place. The owner was so chatty and friendly to my little boys, they were thrilled that their ice creams came with squirty cream AND sprinkles. We were made to feel so welcome by her and her staff - and it was lovely to chat to her, hear their story about taking over the cafe and just meeting a friendly face.We will definitely pop by on our next holiday to the Lakes. We normally have lunch in a pub but decided we wanted something different. We stumbled across KD’s. Ordered a roast chicken sandwich for the hubby and a cheese, tomato & onion panini for me. Both came with crisps,,,(Doritos which the hubby doesn’t like) and salad. There was a problem with my panini which was rectified quickly but hubby was finished his sarnie before I got mine. The staff was great, the food was lovely. We would definitely eat here again and if you are in Bowness on Windermere,,, go, have breakfast, have lunch. It is well worth it.

We found this online before we got to Bowness as it was near our guesthouse. Went every day except Wednesday because it was closed. The house special breakfast was lovely, one as it came, and one with mushrooms instead of beans. Lovely friendly staff, one who always commented on my husbands aftershave ☺. Very clean, seating outside and dog friendly. It was a pleasure to go in here each morning

Dropped in whilst walking down to Bowness. Fantastic cafe with the best panini’s in town. Ice cold san pellegrino. And whilst we didn’t have one, looked like milkshakes to die for. Large umbrellas for shelter were welcome as it was rainy, and really really lovely staff. Doggie friendly too. Table service as standard and lovely location before you hit up the lake views. 5 ⭐️

I popped into KD’s cafe and was Greeted by a Warm Smile and Hello by the Owner.I was only going to have a coffee,but the breakfast looked amazing coming out of the kitchen,so I thought I’d treat myself!WOW!What a Fantastic Full English Breakfast and the Best Coffee in Town at a very Reasonable price.Fantastic Friendly Staff,Spotlessly Clean Cafe and The Breakfast was Filling and Tasty!Can’t wait to call back to Spoil Myself Again!Cheers Guys

We stopped for lunch at this cafe a few years ago whilst on holiday in the Lake District, so on our recent trip into Bowness we hoped that the cafe had survived the nightmare of the pandemic. We were so pleased to see that it had survived. It was absolutely as we remember it. New staff obviously, but they were very polite and attentive. The menu is small but it had a variety of options and all freshly made to order. We had the New Yorker panini with chorizo, mozzarella and jalapeños , which came with a side salad and crisps at a cost of £7.45, we also had to share the last piece of carrot cake at £3.25, such a shame that they only had the one slice left as it was amazing. Yet again I highly recommend this cafe, great food and great value for money, especially the home made cakes. . We will certainly be visiting again when we are next on holiday in the area.

We booked a table and arrived with a warm welcome from Dave and Michelle (the owners). My daughter ordered the sausage sandwich and exclaimed "It is the best sausage sandwich I've had!" I had a lovely Americano coffee and we sat outside watching the world go by. I would highly recommend this cafe as the food is lovely, the staff are friendly and polite. We will be back to visit again!

Came here last Saturday for breakfast, would highly recommend, my husband had the special and I had scrambled eggs on toast, the best scrambled eggs, cooked perfectly. The owners are lovely Michelle & Dave Rogers and will make all feel very welcome, will definitely return!
