We were very warmy greeted. All the staff seemd very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We opted for the set meal for two and every course was freshly cooked and served piping hot. Very tasty meal which we thoroughly enjoyed and would cetainly return again.

We were looking for somewhere to stop for a bite to eat on our way up to the Lakes. We came across the River Bela cafe and certainly weren't disappointed! A lovely little place with friendly hosts and delicious food. All this and dog friendly too, which is a must for us. We had the lovely home baked, hand carved ham sandwiches. On the way back home 2 days later we couldn't resist calling in again, this time for a lovely cooked breakfast - scrumptious! We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family.

We were travelling to hawkshead with our little one and needed to stop for lunch, having a google we found nikitas Bistro, and the reviews looked great so we popped in! Well it didn't dissapont, the bistro is quaint but charming and welcoming with plenty of amazing cakes on display to draw you in. The team were amazing with out dietary requests and made sure all our food was safe, they were all lovely and welcoming and we had a fab lunch, good portions and well cooked. Some vegan/dairy free alternatives which is amazing for us, we were able to do some switches to make the food safe that they were happy to do for us which was lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit š

Arrived to find a decent car park which is always handy. Upon checking in, the welcome was warm, to a traditional looking hostelry with loads of character and the guy who showed us to our room was really sweet. The room was cosy, clean and had a decent bathroom with plenty of hot water and a brilliant shower. The setting is beautiful, just off the main road but you would never know as it is really peaceful and a lovely view across to the village church. The bar and restaurant staff were a joy and nothing was too much trouble for them, they even welcomed the ālivelyā dog that came in tow. A good selection of drinks were available. Breakfast was to die for, delicious. We didnāt eat in the restaurant as we were visiting family but will be sure to next time. Canāt recommend The Wheatsheaf enough, and amazing value as well.

Just returned home after spending the Bank Holiday weekend at the Campsite with friends. This was our fourth visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, the campsite area is very organised & well maintained, with hardstanding level pitches, with an area of grass for each pitch. Everything clean & tidy, and with amazing views of a sizable lake & river running alongside the camping area. Great site for walking your dogs, with bins for waste/rubbish. The showers/toilets were very clean & water was hot. Each had its own sink, toilet & shower in the same area, so it was very convenient. Two of the toilets/showers were shared with the Tea Room/Cafe, and it was asked that they were left clear during the time they were open, for use by the customers, which wasn't a issue, as they were open at all other times of the day. The Tea Room served light meals/snacks & drinks, which were really good with especially good homemade cakes š There were both inside & outside tables. There was also a garden centre with a variety of plants for sale, all being of good quality. We all had a great weekend away, and thought the location was excellent, and was only a short trip to the sites of the Lake District. The lake on site is available for fishing at a charge. My husband says it's for 'fly fishing'. Finally, the staff/owners. They all made us feel very welcome & nothing was too much trouble, so thank you, and we will be back again soon xx

Decided to go to milnthorpe chippy after not being in for years as fancied a change and the food was delicious. The price wasnāt too much with good portion sizes, the staff were very helpful and polite and also chatted to me and my younger sister which made the wait better. The customer service was excellent and the young girl who served me was very polite and friendly. I would definitely go again as my experience was excellent.

Terrible food. ! Dark , hard overcooked batter on the fish which was inedible. Chips were dark in colour and soggy. Gravy was so lumpy and thick, it was impossible to pour. A very disappointing meal and an annoying waste of money! It has really gone downhill now
