Main Street Chipshop in South Lakeland

Terrible food. ! Dark , hard overcooked batter on the fish which was inedible. Chips were dark in colour and soggy. Gravy was so lumpy and thick, it was impossible to pour. A very disappointing meal and an annoying waste of money! It has really gone downhill now

Had chips from here before, and been ok. Today however, hubby called in for 2 portions of chips, at 5pm and they were awful. Cold, soggy, over cooked. If i had to hazard a guess, they were re used from left overs at lunch time. Very poor quality and most definitely not freshly cooked. Wont be rushing back.

Very poor fish tonight after long wait after lady had to move her car as it was being kicked in by people arrested whilst we waited Fish very dry and fishy. Sausage ok but who can spoil sausage. Chips average or below . Mushy peas poor.

After reading the previous reviews I thought I was going to waste my money but it was fantastic and the staff certainly aren't rude or ignorant they we the opposite don't judge by other reviews as the fish was amazing and the chips were fluffy and fresh I will be returning

The service was very poor. Owner spent time talking to a friend & ignoring the customer . Finally took the order for food

I waited an hour for fish and chips and loaded fries ! There were maybe another 15 people wanting who had also been waiting as long as me! The staff did not wear aprons the owner was asking her children under 10yrs old who were running around behind the the counter and range to go and fetch food items ! No organisation or health and safety or hygiene seems to be going on! The owner blames it all on the previous owner for there only being 1 range fryer working! I'm all for supporting local businesses but this was atrocious. This is the 2nd time I have given them the benefit of doubt but nothing has improved infact it is worse.

Have been going to this chip shop for years and alway been great, but tonight we have been for the first time since under new management and I am sad to say it was awful! The service was uncomfortable and made you cringe the two girls had no idea what they where doing! The large chips are now what you used to get for a small and the deep fried halloumi was cut so thin it had melted and was just thick batter! Waste of money now!

Fish and chips were cooked to absolute perfection. The staff were terrific too. Even better than Arnside Fish and Chips! Amazing.

The halloumi and salad was excellent. cooked to order, so fresh and crisp - definitely will go again. We also had pizza - which was really nice. Friendly staff and fast service.

I went to chippy last night with my wife and got 2 fish and chips sausage and chips snd 2 portions of large chips I waited 30 minutes for this what a waste of time and we got home and the portions were atrocious and the large chips were served with nothing in and it was terrible as well as the staff being rude and ignorant I will not be returning and spending my money their again.
