Food was OK, and inexpensive. Tables were tacky, and the toilets were a real mess (one cubilcle out of order, another with the toilet seat hanging off, and another with toilet roll all over the floor).

I would come back knowing any issues would be handled properly by him.

Every wetherspoons I've ever been in has been awful. Until now. The sausages and hash browns were lovely. Great service. Really enjoyed the breakfast.

When walked in got told that they everything on the menu then go to order what we wanted and turned out they didn’t have hardly anything.

Staying with family nearby, so used this branch a lot. The staff seemed often overwhelmed and the place was understaffed. There were issues with food availability and quality. Often food was cold and had to be sent back. Breakfast on the final morning was chaotic even though the branch was relatively quiet. The understaffing and lack of ingredients was off the scale. Unbelievably there was no toast. We were told the bread had been delivered but there were insufficient staff to unload the roll cage. We were offered muffins instead which we were happy with; only to be told 5 minutes later that the muffins were also unpacked! I need at this point to praise the trainee supervisor who, despite being run ragged offered to replace the toast with an additional side of our choice. His actions were in extreme contrast to the lack of concern of senior management who should ensure that branches are adequately staffed and supplied with sufficient ingredients. Shame on Wetherspoon’s senior leader for leaving their colleagues to cope in such circumstances.

I went here for something to eat around 1pm on a Thursday whilst visiting Kendal for the day. I ordered my food at the bar with a young female staff member who seemed rather reluctant and somewhat stressed .She was trying to speak with her colleague via her ear piece at the same time and swore under her breath. I had just tapped my card to pay , and without a thank you or any acknowledgement she then dashed upstairs. I didn't have a receipt or any proof of my order so I thought I'd better get one just in case she had been too distracted to put my order through correctly . I waited for some staff member to turn up to check but no one seemed to be around. A young male staff member reluctantly went behind the bar to serve. I told him about my order and he was checking on the till and said such an order hadn't gone through. He too seemed distracted, and mutted something about being stressed so he proceeded to call for another staff member to take over. This other male staff member , who had a face like thunder, took over and he also confirmed that my order didn't exist. I told him the member of staff who took my order vanished upstairs so he left the bar to find her. In the meantime quite a queue was forming at the bar. He eventually returned, went to the till did something or other and printed out the receipt for my order and gave it to me without any apology. The pub itself is nicely done out , with even an outside area at the back , and the food was what you expect at Wetherspoons . However what spoilt it from my experience, is the young staff who haven't a clue about good customer service ! You just felt that customers are an inconvenience to them !

No chicken on the menu, allowed us to order it then came out to say they had none (for the kids). Ordered fish instead, they brought chicken bites on one plate, peas on another plate (on their own!) and chips on another plate. Missed a portion of chips. I had a beef madras which was cold and not properly mixed, granddaughter's chips were cold also. Got a replacement madras which was warmer but with an over nuked naan bread. Terrible, can't find anything good to say about this place. Will definitely never go again!!

Went out for a family meal, and when our food came, there were multiple issues. 1. Onion Rings were basically burnt. 2. When my drink came, they told me to fill up the glass with water at the water dispenser (Orange Cordial). Surely, they could have done that in the bar.

Barely adeqaute on my last visit. Tables were mostly in need of a wipe. The food took a long time to come, but it was busy. However, when the food did arrive, the server dropped chips off the plate onto the floor and didn't offer to replace them or even pick them up. We'd ordered two lots of peppercorn sauce which annoyingly arrived a few minutes later.

I ordered my food and drink on the Wetherspoons app. My drinks arrived quickly., pint of coors and a bottle of Peroni, the waitress said your glass for the Peroni is at the bar I’ll bring it shortly, it never arrived. We both drank the coors then poured the Peroni into that glass. The food hadn’t arrived 50 minutes after ordering it and noticed everyone else were getting their orders. Complained to the manager who delivered food to next table but felt like he wasn’t interested as he was walking/running away while I was speaking to him.

Large wetherspoons with outside dining area quite spacious inside.

Place was very quiet. It was steak night so ordered gourmet sirloin. £13+.The chips,peas and peppercorn sauce was fine. However the steak was both grissly and chewy and a lot had to be left chewed up on plate. Certainly wouldn't have it again and certainly wouldn't recommend.

Worst visit to a Spoons. I realise you get what you get, and can't expect too much, but the food was terrible, brought to us far to quickly, obviously had some already made to just bring out. Tiny portions, sulky and surly staff. Wouldn't recommend, won't be back.

Clean and tidy. Prices are unbelievably cheap. Fast service.

Pop in here regularly, it's by far the cheapest breakfast and it's very good value for the quality. The staff serving are always very good at their jobs too. Breakfast and an endless coffee for less than one Costa coffee to take away.Its not just very reasonable prices it's dirt cheap.

Ordered at the bar 1 large breakfast, 2 slices of toast with 2 eggs. How can the mess that up! Breakfast came out with 3 eggs 2 toast black bacon, no egg on toast. Sent back came back to us the had just taken everything off large breakfast. Sent back again asked for toast and it was warm bread! Came back out for the 3rd time!! Still disgusting jelly all over egg still warm bread on the plate. Young lad couldn’t apologise enough ended up getting a refund it was that bad

Was really impressed with this spoons. There's loads of space with lots of seating. There's the normal great menu with something for everyone, especially vegetarians and vegans. Ordering on the app was really quick and easy, and food came really quickly! The food was fresh, very hot and tasty.

This place is THE ONLY 'SPOONS in the UK that I have had an issue with in that they consistently try to give you short measures on Pints. I have been coming here for about a month and know the staff to say a pleasntry hello or 2 too BUT they still make it look like I'm a robber for asking 'FOR A PINT'...

Not the best. Appeared under staffed for the size of pub. The staff there where on were friendly and helpful, but the food, including a wrong order was served only luke warm.

Ordered on app, said glass was supplied with drink, drink came no glass. I asked the lad for a glass, rolled eyes and off he went before banging the glass down on the table. No need. Wife ordered halloumi fries with soya sauce, got served Jack Daniels sauce instead. We had waited that long for our food we just just ate it and got going. Without doubt the worst spoons I've been in.

Stopped by on the walk for coffee and lunch. It is a fine example of Wetherspoons. Great staff, good food and coffee and the building is perfect inside with loads of seating areas. Will certainly be back.

Usual Wetherspoons food, served quickly. Good service at the bar and table service. Nice big place. Went in a couple of times. First time was very busy and noisy, second time was much calmer. Ate both times, used the app and also went to the bar, staff were quick and efficient.

First visit to Kendal so called in here for a quick lunch as we used our own local Wetherspoons 2/3 times a week so know what we are getting. Ordered a large house Rose wine to be told I can’t have it as they have a broken line! Suggested I try a bottled white wine instead which was for me. Ordered a Katsu grilled chicken breast curry which arrived as a breaded chicken curry which tasted awful. Also our server was very abrupt when my Husband asked for the salad dressing (which usually comes with the salad) saying I told you the condiments are over there! Kendal is lovely but I would suggest you give Wetherspoons a miss as there are plenty of other nicer eating places in town with better trained staff.

Thoroughly enjoyed a couple of visits to this impressive 'spoons in Kendal. Called in for afternoon drinks and snacks, which were delicious and good value. Returned for breakfast the next day, which was again served hot, by friendly and helpful staff. Clean, tidy tables, the pub layout was varied and interesting.

Cracking gorgeous food me my sister went for the Steak night and drink club + drink, included. Great atmosphere and brilliant attention to detail and service.

The food wasn't fantastic. The lemon chicken tasted awful! We had travelled to Kendal from North Cumbria for my husband's birthday and didn't want to spoil his birthday so I joked that it tasted more like floor cleaner! The chicken barely tasted of lemon more of neat alcohol and there were no herbs in it. The chicken tasted mushy! My husband tasted it and agreed it was awful! The apple crumble was full of cinnamon which was not stated on the menu. I have a food intolerance to histamine and cinnamon is a spice to be avoided to avoid a reaction. I ordered custard which I gave to my husband and he said tasted like plastic! There was not an option for sweet potato fries on the menu either, so I had to order white potato chips and give them to my family! The member of staff who took the order at the bar was in such a rush in a bid to sound professional and efficient and there was noone else waiting. However, it felt very impersonal and rushed. Another female member of staff failed to smile when I asked for help. However, having said all that, my husband and 2 daughters had enjoyed their food and the young gentleman who cleared our table was very friendly. Sadly we will not be returning!

Worst breakfast i have ever had i know i asked for a small breakfast but a teaspoon of beans , all of it was barely warm i asked the question if they probe the food before it is served !! The answer dont know i will never go in there again ( kendal)

Truly awful and simply confirmed my long held belief that in life, you get what you pay for. I can’t be bothered to waste time or words by going into detail, but suffice to say every aspect was dreadful; food, beer, service, staff attitude were all appalling. We engaged with the manager (Cora) about the problems but this was pretty pointless, as she clearly had an agenda based on the concept that the customer is always wrong! The staff are clearly used to dealing with drunks and wastrels so unless you fall into that category, avoid this place at all costs. If you’re in Kendal, go to the Cortillo Lounge instead. They now how to treat people properly!

Shall never use a Wetherspoons again following this awful experience. We were staying in Kendal as we were scattering the ashes of a dear friend who passed away last year. The place we wanted to eat at wasn’t serving food so we decided on Wetherspoons, as it’s just cheap and cheerful, but oh dear the manager was anything but cheerful. We took it in turns to order via the app, most of us wanting pizzas. All 11 inch pizza were out of stock but 8 inch were showing. One member of our group ordered hers, only for the manager to tell us that no pizzas were available. My husband put his head in his hands and swore to himself, so quietly that none of the group heard but apparently the manager had. She told us that she didn’t appreciate us swearing! Then went on to tell us that she was short staffed. Not our problem, and if you’re having a bad day don’t take it out on the customers. Once we had sorted out our orders our drinks arrived. My pint was disgusting and obviously at the end of the barrel. I took it back and explained the pint wasn’t good. The two guys behind the bar looked a bit surprised so the one pulled me a taster of the pint I had requested. They thought they might have pulled the wrong beer. That seemed ok so I said I would have another pint. It was obvious that the barrel was at the end as this pint was worse than the first. A customer standing next to me at the bar commented that the beer had gone. I said I’d have something else, but I was absolutely gobsmacked when the one guy said, that as I’d accepted the taster I had to have the pint! There was no way I was going to drink a pint of off beer and told him so. To which he then said he would have to call the manager. So yes, once again, another run in with her. I told her I wasn’t drinking that beer and I would have a keg ale instead, only to be told that I couldn’t! At this point my friend had joined me to tell me my food was on the table. I was so annoyed at the attitude of the staff I walked away. My friend pointed out that my beer was on the meal deal so I was entitled to the keg beer. Once again the manager came over to us to say she didn’t like our behaviour and started rolling her eyes at us and recording us on her camera. By this time we were all angry and discussing all our grievances with her. We are all in our 60’s, had had a very emotional day, and just wanted something to eat. I asked the managers name which she gave me, with the intention of making a complaint but having read the Wetherspoons website all complaints are referred back to the site of the complaint, so that would be a total waste of time. Avoid!!

Miles Thompson was an English architect responsible for some of Kendal’s most impressive buildings. And that includes the old Kendal Public Washhouse. Now a Wetherspoons pub, is there really any better way nowadays to honour a local legend than the Wetherspoons treatment. It really is the new blue plaque. The washhouse is a wonderful building and offers the pub up on two levels. A nice space with plenty of room to move around. Lots of tables on both levels giving ample seating even on the busiest of days. The lunch was really good value for money, as ever. Two curries, a madras and a Masala, if you’re interested were devoured. Exceptionally nice and corking good value for money. Can’t wait to return next time we’re up that far north from our midlands home.

Not been here for a long time, but ordered two breakfasts - the food was hot and service was prompt - much better than I can remember from my last visit - some years ago.

Had a nice meal, the meals are usually good hear, although the young man that served us pudding brought us a knife and fork to eat it with lol, a bit unusual but it's great for families and there is outside seating

Looking a bit shabby these days. They messed up food order so had meal arriving in stages as they prepared the bits they’d missed.

We went into this pub at 3.45pm on a Monday afternoon and it was nice and quiet - just the way my wife and I like it. In addition, we'd never been in this particular pub before and we liked the ambience. It is one of the better pubs. We wanted the half chicken deal which included a soft drink. Unfortunately, there were no soft drinks available "on tap" due to some problem or another, but I was offered a "can" instead. Unfortunately, the cans on offer were not to our liking and I asked if we could get alcoholic drinks in their place - at first, the bartender seemed agreeable but once she rang our order through the till, the bill came to a higher total (due to the alcoholic drinks rather than soft drinks). We then had to take the limited soft drinks cans that had been offered. Asked for our table number, I responded by advising number 69, to be told that 69 did not exist. A colleague advised the staff member taking our order that 69 didn't exist on the till but that it was the table "by the door". Surely, this is a recurring problem every time someone sits at this table? Solution: sort it. We were disappointed with the chicken as it was drowning in the lemon and herb coating which turned the chicken into a gooey mess. It was actually sat in a "gravy" of the coating. We were already fed up with the drinks situation and opted not to start a new complaint about the food and so just ate it. We've had this dish many times before at Wetherspoons and always enjoyed it, but not this time. Overall, bit of a disappointing visit to this particular Wetherspoons where we are normally very happy to eat and drink.

Loved the team, that's working and felt sorry for them 2 members of staff to manage 3 levels must have been over 200 covers in the venue. And to operate the bar as well as cover clean and serve. The head office should be ashamed of themselves. Thank you to the team that was on today 👍💪

This is obviously a wethersppons, for the money it's great value. Service was always quick and always with a smile. Ok, so it's not fine dining but it is good value. Staff are amazing at this one.

We visit this pub six or seven times a year over the last 5 years as a family and I have to say the food is slowly getting worse. Tonight however we hit rock bottom. Friday 26 January 18:30. It was busier than normal in the pub and we were 3 adults 4 kids, drinks service was a little slow, food service was atrocious. They forgot the vegi curry and when it did arrive they also forgot to heat it, not even warm, it was stone cold. And when I asked for it to be heated the waitress was rude and very unhelpful. The onion rings never arrived or a portion of chips, scampi was ok but only just warm enough as were the chips that came with them. We tried 7 bottles of mayo and all were empty. The staff just didn't want to know.

Very spacious, good selection of real ales. Not crowded but were there in January. During tourist season could be very different.

Warm. No irritating music playing loudly. Lovely log fire. I needed a magnifying glass to find my burger, but food was generally, ok.

Atmosphere was a bit lacking but the beer was the issue,it took forever to arrive using the app and when it did it was awful,left drinks and went somewhere else.

It is not possible to fault the food on offer, the service, or the atmosphere. It is a great place for a group of people of all ages.

Prices have certainly risen in the last year, but still good value compared to other pubs. Ordering from the table via the app works very well. The meal deal whereby a meal includes a drink is refreshingly flexible in that it doesn't exclude many drinks, if any. Food was half decent and the children's menu is reasonable with plenty of options.

The staff seem to work from only one till, hence the enormous queue for food and drinks. It's Christmas eve but still...

It's Wetherspoons you know what you will get

Usually I have the best experience there, but today when I ordered a cocktail I was told that my ID couldn’t be trusted and verified, even though it is valid, assured by the National Police Chief’s Council, and the Security Industry Authority! Why is it that certain sources of ID cannot be verified?

5 of us came to eat, one didn’t recieve hers, another recieved her’s cold, mine was raw. The other two had no complaint’s however the members of staff were also unpleasent, 2 of us being over the age of 18 and both bought an alcoholic beverage, she asked for the wrong person’s id and when i said it was my drink and showed her my id, she gave me attitude and threatened to ask me to leave, appaling behaviour. The girl who didn’t recieve her food was denied a refund and i even though my id was valid didn’t get given my drink, i wasn’t refunded, however a different table where the same waitress was offered a refund that she declined us off because she knew people at that table. Attrocious.

My wife and I called in for a drink,great value,friendly bar staff,nice enough pub,typical Witherspoons,no food today,but it looked very nice.

About 50 percent of customers here think they’re peaky blinders especially on a Friday night.

I have a low standard when it comes to Weatherspoons places and I rated this 4 stars because I don't really have a problem with the place. In fact it's one of the better ones I've been to. The food quality is Weatherspoons' standard so that speaks for itself. The staff though are really friendly. Especially the waiters who put effort into their service. That in itself made the experience better for me. For that reason I'd actually recommend coming here

Waitress was rude and petty Got asked for id which I didn’t have wouldn’t let me drink my drink which is fine . I had a picture of my passport on my phone and she wouldn’t take it even tho it was valid pic of my passport , which they are aloud to take . She then continued to talk about me and my family behind the bar to other members of staff whilst staring at us Blonde hair , RUDE

This was a fantastic pub to go drinking at, with a stylish counter particularly for Halloween! The design is peaceful, channeling Kendal's beauty and the staff were friendly. I had a cocktail pitcher, sitting comfortably with my friend at a clean round table!

It would have been more comfortable and maybe the food would have kept warmer had the air con been off... It would also have been a lot warmer. Food was lovely

Wetherspoons has good beers and prices, food depends on which one you go into and the kitchen staff, I don't recommend the steak.
