This is such a quirky little hidden treasure to come and eat. The lady who welcomed us was so polite and sweet. Love all the little touches. I had an omelette and a pot of tea. The omelette was delicious and I tried my partners pancake with bacon and syrup and that was gorgeous. Reasonable prices and will definitely be coming back again

The cod was tiny, I've seen that size given as a child's portion. It was also swimming in fat, couldn't taste the fish for the fat. Don't know if we were unlucky as they had been busy and didn't give the fat time to reheat or if this is normal and that's considered right.
Not going to rush to return, far better available.
Absolutely fantastic family meal there was a large party of us 20 in total and our server Michele was brilliant food all on time and hot and nothing was too much trouble
When all the reviews were five star we were so excited I called to check when the kitchen closed to make sure we got there with plenty of time the kitchen closed at 10 and we arrived at 9. We ordered straight away just garlic bread and some cokes, the restaurant was quite empty only 2 other tables after we finished our food a young man came over and said ‘r u done with that’ which my sister said no he took my plate and said ‘u ready for your mains yet’ very passive aggressive. The whole time we were sat around 4 staff were all stood at the bar snickering, looking at us, and laughing. When our food came the young man aggressively put down the plates and gave us very little Parmesan - Ik it sounds petty but he was very passive aggressive and short with me and my sister for the whole evening. The food was plain and untasteful we literally ordered meatballs and pasta I don’t know why it tasted like nothing. We barely ate any of it and I asked for a takeaway tub when the lady picked up our plates a knife full of tomatoe sauce fell on my sister white top and it fell towards her face. The woman was reasonable and went to go and get a wet cloth, offered to foot the dry cleaning bill. When she returned my sister had left obviously very frustrated and she had brought back a lemon hand wipe 😂. I payed the bill and left. Honestly I have never written a bad review on anywhere because I understand not everyone has the same ideals as me and have other things going on. In my eyes what started off as a kind gesture of taking my sister out for a meal turned into a waste of time money and food. I payed £50 for not the best food a stained top and to be made like we were being rushed out of the door due to being the last customers. I always try to be reasonable but it was honestly the worst service experience

A go to place for us since we were told about it by our air BnB host by Oulton Park. Great service and wonderful food. Easily worth the hours trip time.
Highly recommend. Had some amazing food and a great atmosphere. The staff were attentive to our needs throughout the visit.
The outside seating area is small, but encouraged us to share a table and spend time with some lovely people. A board was being 'tugged' down the Manchester Ship Canal as we sat outside. (Photo)
First time we've been back to the Shanghai since moving out of Hoole a number of years ago. Wasn't sure whether it would be as good as it was previously but we were very pleasantly surprised.
We booked a Banquet for 5, myself, my partner and our elderly parents. Absolutely everything was perfect from the minute we arrived. Food was lovely as was the service. Will certainly visit again
Very friendly staff, Ellie and Daysan looked after myself and my wife allowing us to taste and recommending wines to compliment our food order. We had a fantastic lunch and cant wait to return.
Simply incredible venue, food was amazing, loaded fries are outrageously good!!! Cocktails were strong & super tasty & well priced!! Staff were really friendly, helpful & nothing was too much trouble!!
Great music, great food, great staff & highly recommend!!!
Great food, great service, great value. Visiting Chester with older relatives so looking for somewhere that would cater for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Found this recommendation on Trip Advisor and it really is a hidden gem. The food was freshly cooked, ample portions and delicious, decent wine list and overall very good value.
Ate here today and the carbonara lived up to the restaurant's name! The service was also fantastic and I would hardly recommend this Italian restaurant to anyone in Chester. It's off the main stretch of road so you can have a quiet seat outside overlooking the high street.
