Tasty food. Great wine list. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent customer service. (The sort of place you are more than happy to leave a tip). I've been to F&B a couple of times now. Both visits have been a delight.

Food, service, setting all fabulous. We rocked up without a booking after a day of huking up hills & wandering around castle ruins on a cold and blustery day. The Fox & Barrel gave us a warm welcome, seating us close to a log burner to thaw us out. The food was delicious, would highly recommend.

We had a truly delightful Sunday lunch experience at the Fox and Barrel. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable—attentive and efficient. The food arrived piping hot, a testament to the kitchen's precision. The lamb was the star of the show, cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection, accompanied by a generous selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. The warm and inviting decor created a wonderful ambiance, enhancing the overall experience. The convenient parking and single-level access made it accessible for everyone in our party. We'll certainly be returning, and I strongly advise booking, as this gem is clearly a local favorite.

Shame about the roast beef. Ate here on Sunday for my wife’s birthday. I had the Sunday roast beef. It was very nice apart from one item - the wafer thin shavings from a mechanical rotary cutting machine that purported to be roast beef. Had two slices that were so thin it was impossible to discern if they were beef or plastic. Every other item was really nice. Starters and pudding were lovely but they really need to warn diners about the beef or revert to actually slicing a proper piece of beef. This really spoiled my meal. Will eat here again but not a Sunday roast beef.

Honestly this place is the best restaurant in Cheshire! Hands down 🙌 Highly recommend the cheese soufflé to start and the feather blade of beef was outstanding! Hats off to the chefs. The service was great too. 👏👏

What a fabulous pub …..never been before. I had the most delicious venison ragu and my friend had the belly pork cassoulet. The staff were efficient, courteous and friendly. The pub was warm with a wood burner in the room we were in. The whole place was cosy and inviting on a cold wet afternoon. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back even though we live nearly 40 miles away.

Lovely little pub with great food

Having successfully and quickly bought Fox & Barrel vouchers several times in the past via a quick phone call to them, I unexpectedly got told today by whoever answered the phone ‘we can’t sell you vouchers without you coming in as we can’t take your credit card details over the phone’. What an inconvenience! May I also suggest that you update your website which still states that you can buy the vouchers via a phone call. In the end I decided to buy Piccolino restaurant vouchers instead which can be conveniently and quickly purchased online...

A very enjoyable Sunday lunch. We chose lovely roast pork & roast lamb with proper roast potatoes and a tasty selection of veg. Can recommend the cauliflower risotto starter and the creme brulee and salted caramel tart. Good service by friendly staff

I Ordered the steak burger, which looked appealing on the menu. I asked for mine to be medium cooked. I was disappointed with it when it arrived, because it lacked seasoning and I had some grizzle in the burger patty, The bun was ok but the salad filling seemed old. It came with some nice thick cut chips, but the pot of coleslaw was not nice at all. Overall I would not recommend it as an option.

Didn't book as we were just passing and thought we would give it a try. How wrong we were as we couldn't get in, it was fully booked. So 5 stars because it was packed.

Went for a birthday meal- always wanted to eat here as the carparks always busy I assumed it would be excellent. My food was tepid, the aubergine dish was bland & there was only 1 other vegetarian menu option. Everyone else's meals came with chips or garnish mine had nothing else so I was still hungry after. To add insult to injury the waitress took £3 payment more than I'd instructed on cardreader- she didn't show me the amount before swiping- now I know why :(

We'd booked a table and were pleased we had as it was quite busy. Excellent tasty well presented food and wine. Good vegetarian choices too. Very helpful friendly staff. This was our second visit and it was just as good.

Loved it, good food and atmosphere

Searched hard online for non-standard food close to Delamere Forest and totally lucked out with the Fox & Barrel. The menu looked quite interesting but frankly I was seduced by the quality of the photography on the website; these people looked like they care about the details. Wasn’t wrong. This was an absolutely sensational Saturday lunch, with assured, confident cooking and some really appealing, original flavours. Service from Matt was great, the place is clean and smart and our dog had a lovely time as well. Pix show a few of our dishes and we also ordered oysters, sausages, fabulous chunky chips, broccoli and lovely wines at fair prices. We will all definitely return. So happy to find a new favourite eatery in this neck of the woods. Thank you!

Attentive service and amazing food. We had a great lunch on this August bank holiday. The kid menu is the best I've ever ordered.

For £20 per head, I'd have expected more on our plates. The beef was wafer thin but spread out making it appear a larger portion than it was. We received 1 bowl of veg between 4 people. Roast potatoes weren't cooked in beef dripping and the same gravy was served with both chicken dish and the beef dish. Such a shame

The food was tasty but very small portion of meat for my sunday roast (2 very thin slices of beef!!). So, expensive for what you get! Yorkies were huge and the veg was yummy 👍. Just the meat that let it down!

The food at this place is stupendous, local crafted ales and a vast array of wines and shorts. Nothing on this menu disappoints, all very high standard, and the service goes hand in hand with the food.

We were heading home from Tatton Park RHS Flower Show and saw the Fox & Barrel and called in on the off chance. It was late afternoon on a Sunday and we had not booked. The staff were very helpful and found us a lovely table. Our waiter, Stevie, was lovely. I ordered lamb roast dinner and my husband chose beef. Our food came promptly considering it was a busy Sunday. Have you ever wanted to cry because you were so happy, well that is how I felt. I had a huge shoulder of lamb in a redcurrant jus and a couple of roast potatoes. In a side dish between us was broccoli, parsnips, red cabbage, sugar snap peas and carrot and turnip. My husband had plenty of beef and an enormous Yorkshire pudding. Everything was cooked to perfection and nice and hot. Delicious. We would certainly pop in again if we were ever near Tarporley again

Spent a lovely couple of hours having lunch. The staff are attentive, and efficient. The menu is well put together with a good selection on offer and tasted delicious. Out waiter Matt was brilliant and made the day. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I had Smoked Salmon with Egg ,Hollandaise sauce and Potato Rosti it was out of this world .. Hubby had the Burger with chips and couldn’t manage a pudding … the staff were very attentive and extremely helpful would definitely recommend..

We called in for a drink, have a few nibbles and to get out young daughter something to eat. The welcome was amazing, service brilliant and food delicious.

Attended the restaurant for f mily birthday and get together, loved the decor as you enter with very smiling staff waiting to show you to your table. Food and service were very good especially the presentation to you at the table. Definitely going back there is good outside parking and tables as well to enjoy the sunny weather. We done.

Booked in for lunch. Travelled 25 minutes only to find that the accessible toilet cited on Google information was no such thing. Impossible access for a wheelchair user. Upset and angry in equal measure. Please address you Google accessibility statement.

firstly foods is always very good and staff are super friendly, I have one complaint - I just wish the staff would not stroke the dogs in the pub and then serve my cutlery and food for hygiene reasons, at least 3 members of staff stoked the very nice puppy which was close to our table and then served our drinks and food

This has been one of our favourite places to come for years, it's been a while since we have been, and today's visit was out of the blue, and I am really glad we did... The food was fantastic, and it was the first time taking our new pup here and they couldn't be more accommodating, the Fox and Barrel will definitely be one of our go to places with the dog as it was a really great space for him.

Popped in for Sunday lunch (with my wife and 2 grandsons) on the way back from Beeston Castle. Wr hadn't booked (which is advisable). However, we were accommodated. A really nice pub/restaurant. The Weetwood Best Bitter was perfect. The Sunday Roast was excellent. Freshly prepared and lots of it. Staff were great too.

Came as part of a family party of 6 for a late lunch meal. The other half of the group were regulars highly recommended the place. Our table was mid-room right in front of the open-plan servery. The kitchen and all the cooking was on full display which I always find reassuring. The menu had around six choices per course. There was a good mixture of traditional and more adventurous fare. I went down the vegetarian route simply to keep things lighter and a little easier to digest. Both by mushroom wonton starter and beetroot taste tatin main were spot on. Reactions from others were a little more mixed. Everybody bar me had a dessert and again feedback was reasonable to good. Cost for 2/3 courses averaged out c. £45/head inclusive of 2 drinks. The place was vibrant, well presented and spotlessly clean. Staff were attentive, professional and very friendly. The lack of time pressure was noticeable and very welcome. Overall I'm happy to recommend this place to diners of all ages and group sizes. The outside drinking & dining areas looked very well done too. So I would imagine this place is even busier in the warmer Summer months. It was still very busy on Easter Saturday given the dry and pleasant weather. Overall score 4.8 out of 5.0

On & off, over a period of more than 30 years I have enjoyed the hospitality of this fine pub restaurant. Whilst the menu, food, presentation & environment / ambiance were all excellent this review is more about the first class service. The manager clearly knows her stuff as do the young people she has employed & trained; our waitress, the young man, on only his second shift, and others that served us were so polite & professional I’m going to say this was amongst the best service, in all categories, I have ever experienced. Well done!

First time here on a special 'Date Night' with my husband. We were shown to our table and handed the menus. We saw that it was extremely busy and there may be a wait. After fifteen minutes, nobody attended to us or even offered a drink of water, we had also failed to catch their notice. By which time two more tables arrived after us, both of whom received immediate attendance and we were ready to leave. I finally caught the waitresses eye and when she came over, I explained that we were not happy. But, we decided to stay and order and she was very apologetic. Thankfully the delicious food more than made up for the fact that the service had been poor. It is a really nice pub, with great atmosphere and lovely decor. The food was excellent and the service afterwards was very good. Just such a shame that the lack of awareness at the beginning marred the rest of our evening.

Can't recommend fox & barrel enough, me and partner have only been a few times but we have throughly enjoyed it, food is amazing and the service is great, can't wait to visit again soon

We booked a last minute table, the food was lively, we had cheese suffle which was so light and Fluffy, parfait, duck as the main, egg custard and artic roll. We will definitely return.

I am glad I found this place after a lovely walk at the Delamere forest. The decor is very modern classic and the fire at every nuke was warm and welcoming. We booked our table at 1.15 and was shown our table even if we turned up early. There were people waiting to seat as soon as we vacated, shows how popular the place was. I thoroughly enjoyed the courgette tempura with the couscous and would recommend this to all veg lovers. We will hopefully come back again soon. Until then I will keep recommending this place to my friends and family.

We lunched at the Fox and Barrel for the first time yesterday. It was a belated meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The place came highly recommended and as you can see from my rating we weren't disappointed. The food and service were both excellent. We shall definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub/restaurant which has been refurbished to a high standard. Food excellent. Service also excellent. Matt looked after us and made us feel extremely welcome.

Good pub and pleasant efficient staff. Top quality food but portion size only adequate. Service slightly delayed as restaurant busy. Would recommend not sitting near the log burner or radiators as far to hot inside making it uncomfortable. Prices above average but you pay for what you get.

Nice place. Service is attentive rather than warm. The food is fine, but very expensive and you’d expect it to be better for the prices. I wouldn’t put this in the Gasto pub bracket yet it’s charging at that level.

I love the Fox & Barrel! One of my absolute favourite places to eat Sunday Dinner! Booked for the week before Christmas, as it’s just such a lovely place! All 3 of us got the beef roast dinner! Hummus and pitta for starters, butternut squash soup (which was divine) and chicken wings! Also a portion of truffle fries! Lots and wine and ice cream with artic role for desert! Left feeling very happy and full :)

Very disappointing. After viewing the ‘festive menu’ online we were really looking forward to a family meal on Sunday. So much so that we’d all pretty much chosen our meal! Nowhere does it state that yeh festive menu wasn’t available on Sundays. Two of us ordered the roast beef- chewy, gristly roast beef that couldn’t be cut even with a steak knife. The solution offered was possibly trying a sharper knife.

Had a wonderful lunch today. They even provided crackers for everyone. Beautiful place. Decor is gorgeous. Special mention to the lovely Matt who provided exceptional customer service. What an asset he is to the business. Nothing was too much trouble. Overall a wonderful experience.

Lovely Sunday roast. Vegetables particularly very good, great to have a dish on the table to help ourselves instead of hiding them under the meat. Unfortunately it was quite noisy but you were quite busy and you have to expect that!

Our family are regular visitors to the Fox & Barrel, it is our favourite restaurant. Amazing food, excellent friendly service, and lovely atmosphere.
