Popular fish and chip shop. Plenty of room inside for families to eat

Really decent chippy. Bit on the expensive side but worth it. Food was really nice, portions were relatively small, but still a decent size. And there are seats available.

Long queues but worth it a lovely chippy right in the front. Go at sunset watch the views over the estuary you will not be disappointed

Extremely expensive for takeaway fish and chips yes but is it worth every penny and minute waiting in the queues ABSOLUTELY. They never fail taste wise, portion size has shrunk over the years but what businesses hasn’t really. Great location and friendly staff. We now only eat fish and chips from here or a place in Conwy as everywhere else doesn’t compare. Don’t get me wrong I would love them to either lower their prices or up portion sizes but I will still keep coming here regardless

First visit to this chippy, and my last! Took my daughter out for a treat, £4.20 for a what they called a "large" portion of chips, which were 20 chips! (5 of those were inedible with several "black eyes" They were served in a small cardboard circular dish, with Chows on it, rather than an oblong tray, which means you get less chips. They were clearly frozen chips/pub chips, and left a strange taste in your mouth. There are much better chippys on the Wirral, nicer food, and cheaper. I have scored it one star, as it only deserves one star!

The food tastes great but is extremely overpriced for the small portion you get, first time around my partner got fish chips half mushy peas & half curry £12, I got the kids portion fish and chips £6.80 and asked for some beans which was £2.60, total £21.40. we went again today ordered the same thing but this time I asked for the kids portion of fish and chips with mushy peas and swap them for beans which I wasn’t informed there would be an additional cost for swapping an item (didn’t think I would get charged for swapping as all the side pots bar curry are priced the same)I got charged 60p for the smallest portion of beans on top of my food I’ve ever seen, at least last time it came in a container and I actually left quite abit as it was a big portion of beans compared to this time around, we also felt the portion of food we got this time around was a lot smaller, my chips almost felt halved and even my partner agreed the fish looked smaller, not sure why there was price differences in both visits but due to the menu being overpriced for what you get albeit tastes great we won’t visit again due to the ambiguity of how much things cost (it’s displayed as a set price but charged differently?) just not very consistent nor trustworthy. I also left feeling hungry which I didn’t on our first visit, really disappointed.

It is a really nice fish and chip shop but £4.20 for a large chips that comes in a small bowl is just not acceptable or a reasonable price anymore It’s a overpriced fish and chip shop and it’s unfortunate as it’s a nice place and in the heart of park gate

If you like fish and chip this is the place to go. Salt and pepper chickens good too

Lovely fish and chips, portion quite small though but they were excellent. Limited seating inside. You can park near by on the promenade for free.

Lovely day out at Parkgate, good size portions, grated food, and good seating.

Great traditional chippy specialising in chips, fish, pies etc. eat in or takeaway. Tea and coffee etc available. Not the cheapest but very good. Parking can be a problem especially on nice weather days. They do close during the week so best to check the website for opening times.

We sat outside Parkgate chippy waiting for it to open and it was worth the wait 2 steak pie dinners the best you can get .Any food you have from there is worth the travel and wait. 5 stars

What is going on have they got new owners? No longer serving cod but cheaper fish presumably in an economy drive, the meal served in a noodle bowl...yes a noodle bowl, with a few chips, the fish balancing on top, peas....well no room for them! Fish fell onto the grubby table...our extended family used to love coming here this time we were livid.Trying to maximise profit over customer service.

Proper fish and chips, from a proper chippy. Nice to find a chippy that's not doubling up as a Chinese!! Fish was tasty and nicely cooked, chips were bang on, we will definitely be back 👌👌

Can’t really ever fault Parkgate Fish & Chips. The only drawback is the price - tends to be more expensive than other similar chippies, but the service, cleanliness of the premises, the way everything is served makes it a really nice experience. Chips are always consistent and the fish is good.

The first time I came here it was great. Fast service and great food. Unfortunately this time, it was the complete opposite. The staff member taking orders was inexperienced, undertrained and slow - and with the buildup of people waiting it was putting pressure on the single kitchen member to keep up. After receiving our food, it was disappointing to find that the chips very undercooked. It’s a shame they had to rush and compromise the quality of the food. Hopefully this is just a one off experience, and I hope the standard is like the first experience I had.

Shocked to be honest… we used to go here quite regular. Haven’t been since it was taken over (from what I can tell).. £5.20 for the smallest portion of cheesy chips 😨, I expected for the price there would be a decent sized portion… similar price for curry/gravy and chips. The chips were nice, but no better than any other chip shop, so again… Why so expensive for a diddy portion of chips?… Won’t be returning.

I can honestly say that I would walk a million miles for these chips. Never disappointed me once. Good, hot and value for money.

Lovely chippy well worth a visit. I'd deffinatly visit again. The sausage was one of the best chip shop sausages I've ever had.

Very disappointed. Visited with my wife for lunch. Fish, chips and peas all put on top of each other in a paper bowl resulting in the chips being soggy and all very difficult to eat. Hardly value for money @£23, including 2 x canned drinks

Not bad, but not the best. The fish meal was served in a "Chow's street food" circular tub; a simple takeaway tray would have been easier as everything was squashed together. Don't know if it was because I was served during lunchtime, but the chips didn't taste like chip-shop chips, more like the chips you get in the pub. The peas were nice, but the fish batter was on the thin side. The staff are very friendly though and service was quick.

Disappointed. Small,greasy fish with small portion of chips served in paper bowls that cause the food to stick. Was really looking forward to eating there but there are much better chip shops on the Wirral. Have to say it was seriously overpriced as well, it must have been good once judging by it's reputation but it's definetely living on former glories now.

Great chippy, nice chips not greasy at all. Gluten free fish option too. Updating this review as on my last visit to one of my favourite local chippy's I was really disappointed with the reduced size of the portions in the newly acquired containers they are using. I'm usually satisfied after my chippy tea and it's a lovely treat but the smaller tubs for food are way too small forymy appetite. I will not be forking our this much money on tiny portions again especially for our family of four. The chips are still good of course just not enough of them. Very sad

There's a new dog ban which can be a nightmare now when it's miserable outside. Whilst I realise there's always going to be complainers (says me, writing here!) but I think when it was dog friendly, for years, it was a net positive situation. Now it's a pain because if you've walked the dog down there and don't realise they've changed the rules (like me and three other groups of people I saw), you're sitting outside in the cold and, right next to the road, which is especially not great with dog. Food good. Shame they've also done away with the baps.

Been coming for 15 years, but a very different experience now. No cod, instead a cheaper fish (despite cod being on menu and me asking for it). Wouldn’t travel for this now.

Have eaten here a few times now - fish and chips, salt and chilli chicken, salt and chilli wings, all top quality.

Came for a lovely walk with the dogs along the front and back for fish and chips. The fish and chips was piping hot and was perfect. Not the cheapest meal but great views across the River Dee.

Simply the best fish and chips. Sausage too, seriously it's like a Cumberland breakfast sozzy, best I've ever had from a chippy. Normally have this to take away but recently stayed in on a windy evening. Making the chippy a welcome port in a storm! Never had a bad fish here, perfectly sized portion and chips are nice and crispy. Staff are quick and friendly. Won't have fish and chips anywhere else

Best chips for miles and miles (and we've tried them all!!) Lovely lovely staff, from the young man greeting you at the door to the behind-the-counter team who can't do enough for you. Arrived late on a Saturday evening expecting it to be packed but thrilled to find we could sit and savour our meals at a leisurely pace. Hot, crispy-on-the-outside-but-squishy-in-the-middle chip heaven and two HUGE slabs of white doorstop bread for the 'butty' bit. Indulgent, excellent value, delish and provided by lovely people. Lucky to have Parkgate Fish and Chips on our doorstep! Thankyou all!

Not a clue how they were awarded a Blue Ribbon. Standard chips and a small, greasy fish. No better than any other chip shop but with smaller portions and they are more expensive.

Came here looking forward to our tea, we ordered fish chips and curry, the food was lovely ,but very small portions of curry sauce and also very dissatisfied with the new round serving pots, much preferred ( and probably cheaper for the owner) the ordinary trays they used to give you.

We have always had a lovley experience but to day was really not good, we have allways had fantastic fish and chips and curry, with ample curry this time very little curry I had to go to the counter and paynearly £3.00 for more woaman said we had a small portion, in truth since winning 2024 for best fish and chips ithas made them geedy.they have changedtosmallwr roundtable leaving my fish and chips very dry. This place e needs to know people like us keep him going in the winter months when the tourists go home. I am sorry to write a review like this as inthe past he has deserved every good review from customers.

Hadn't been for years but had an Australian visitor so decided to go. Wasn't a bad choice! The day was cold and miserable for early September but the food more than made up for it! It was freshly cooked, piping hot and absolutely delicious. So glad we took our visitor! Highly recommended and will be going back again soon!

Been coming to this chippy fo 20 plus years. Never again. Soggy greasy chips same with fish. Curry I used to love tasted of flour. Very sad. Won’t be back.

They have changed the container to ridiculous little cardboard bowls similar to a noodle bowl with the chips spilling out and the fish on top. Nowhere to put peas or curry on the side and no lid. 7 of us were all were furious and said never again!

Very well know for it's quality, Recently however the fish has taken a massive nosedive. What they present you with now is a small round thin piece of fish which crumbles away when you try to eat it. Also the chips here were always really tasty well cooked chips, mine were way over cooked amd were like a of batter rather that fluffy inside, with no flavour. I hope they read this and go bk to the original standard. Until then it's another place I won't be spending my money in.

This would get six stars if the portions were just a bit more generous. The food is very good but, for the money, the chip portion sizes are indefensible imo.

An unplanned trip here, bit of a queue and on the pricey side so expectations were high and they didnt disappoint. Good fish, nice batter and possibly the best chips ive had, reminded me of perfect fluffy roasties. Im a big eater and the portion size left me satisfied.

Have been going here for many many years. Was always brilliant.However today was such a disappointment. The quality was very good hence 2 stars but £4.50 for what was called a large portion of chips..was hardly medium! And the smallest fish I have ever had was very poor. Basically 2 portions of chips to take out would be nearly £10! Way too expensive. My fish looked round and flat and no comparison to pieces had before! Sorry won't go again..a real pleasure lost due to ridiculous shrinkage of portions. Wish I had taken photo to support my oppion.

Nice food and fast service, but not the cheapest place around, I guess you're paying extra for the location. There's seating inside and out.

Love visiting parkgate so we decided to try out this chippy about overhearing other people raving about it. Very expensive for pretty poor food in my opinion, the food was greasy and tasted of the oil, it wasn't pleasant to eat. There are plenty other eateriesalomg the stretch of parkgate. Staff weren't he friendliest bunch of people either. You do have the option of eating in, ot does get busy but there are benches close by, but you maybe pestered by the black headed gulls.

Great Fish and Chips. Prepared fresh which is always a good thing. Was miles out if my way bit it was worth the effort to visit. Would definitely recommend. There are a few tables inside if you wish to sit down

Chippy with seating. Staff smiling felt welcomed, food cooked fresh, so a little wait but lovely tasty fish. Various seating, comfy enough to sit and eat your meal from the take away boxes. Kept clean by staff and customers.

Best fish and chips around Travelled from Eport to get them

Large portions of fresh Cod in perfect crispy batter and perfect chips. The sausage is also very tasty. You have the option to eat in with beautiful views of Wales and the Dee estuary nature reserve. The family service is very efficient and friendly. The business benefits from 5 star hygiene, the best score given by The Environmental Health's "Scores on the doors system. Highly recommended, well done to all involved with this popular draw to visitors.

Best chippy I have been to in a while, the chips weren't greasy soggy or horrible they were lovely, fresh and crispy. Reasonable price, service was lovely, quiet little restaurant by a gorgeous view of greenery.

Heard great things about this place so had to try it whilst in the area( actually went back the next week) Great service, delicious fish and chips plus nice area to eat in or take out . Parking could be a problem but we went on our bikes and leaned them up outside.
