We hired Aprils for my wifeās 40th party, and couldnāt recommend it enough. She only wanted a small do but didnāt want to feel drowned, and this venue was perfect. We had 60 guests, and didnāt feel crowded at all. We hired a dj and sax player and the atmosphere was brilliant.
Millie and Ellie were amazing on the bar at night, Millie was brilliant in the lead up, and there wasnāt anything that sheās didnāt think of for us. We decided against food, and elected for trays of shotsā¦..A 1am finish was also a nice bonus!!
Very disappointed went in for some chips this afternoon but when I got home they were all squished together and some were undercooked a shame there normally really good. Won't go again.
We have been here a couple of times now and find the staff extremely courteous, excellent service with the added extra of superb home made food. Very reasonableā¦inexpensive (not cheap!).
Just keep it secret!
When is this even open anymore? Since November the opening hours are totally fictional...12? 2? 4? 6? Numerous times we have turned up to closed doors and no lights on. On the rare occasion where we have been granted admission the atmosphere has been unwelcoming and the barstaff unfriendly.
Always fantastic. Great menu, lots of choices. Staff are so friendly. Have been going for years and excellent every time. Food is so tasty and perfect portions. Best Indian around.

Handled 9 boaters turning up 20 minutes before restaurant close with style and aplomb. A variety of dietary needs accommodated and tasty food with generous portions. Lovely staff and a cosy table. Highly recommend
Second visit with family for food and we will come again. Best eggs benedict I have ever had and the Rodney burger is an absolute delight.
The atmosphere is that of a family run pub, with snugs and locals who ate all welcoming and friendly. Thankyou and see you soon
Atmosphere lovely as always. Americano with milk was lukewarm and without milk there was more in the saucer than the cup. No offer by waitress to sort the spill. Toastie was enjoyable but Omelette was tasteless and crispy round edges as though it had been made in an Omelette maker. Not sure that a roll & butter complemented an omelette. Have had better on previous visits.
My son and I ordered the gammon steaks, but they were far too salty š„“. My son only ate a small piece, and I just had one bite. Even though we were still hungry, we stopped eating for our health reasons.
It's not often you find somewhere like The White Lion, that seems to have everything you want in a pub:
Friendly staff
Good choice of beers
Delicious, reasonably-priced food
Unspoiled by refurbishments of dubious merit
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and I wish I lived nearer and could go there more often.
Good menu choice, food was very nice, we were surprised at the portion size which was big at such a very cheap cost.. it was well presented. Coffees were lovely.. the only negative comment I would give is that the inside could do with a fresh lick of paint & possibly a tidy up inside..
