Very welcoming since I was in the sixth-form 50 years ago. This is one of the most expensive villages in the country. Nevertheless the food and drink is normal for Robinson's in the Northwest i.e. relatively inexpensive.

Finally got to the Rodney for lunch. My wife had home made Cheese and Onion pie whilst I indulged in the Burger. Both were very pleasant as were the Unicorn and dry cider to accompany the meal. Excellent service in spite of an invasion by school pupils breaking up for their A levels (who all had their ID's checked).

An all-round great experience everytime ive visited (im not local to the area). The staff are very welcoming and the cheese & onion pie is top tier. As someone who doesnt drink alcohol, the selection at pubs can be disappointing...not the rodney. They have Guinness 0, Heineken 0 and Morreti 0, easily the 3 best options. If you're looking for a friendly village pub with good food, look no further.

A high-quality local that is not a chain pub. Food and drink were excellent. They use locally sourced ingredients. I had Gambas Tempura to start, followed by meat balls with Linguini, and to finish a lovely bread and butter pudding with real custard. The pub is definitely worth a visit.

We was exploring The area as a possible place to move too. On arrival we made sure it was a dog 🐕 friendly environment. We looked around and notice several locals had their dogs on laps and on the seats. We picked our seats carefully away from other dogs and thoroughly enjoyed a few drinks with the super friendly locals. All this time Simon our dog had joined us predominantly on my lap and pub style sofa beside us. The bar staff for around 2 hours saw no problem with this and it wasn't until the locals with their dogs left we was confronted and asked if our dog could sit on the floor under the table. When I replied we only let him sit on us as all the locals had thiers on the seats the reply was they are local and should know better. The whole experience made us feel like idiots and otherwise ruined a nice couple of hours. So to conclude one rule for locals but if you are not from around these parts you are made to feel a little less welcome. Shame as the beer was good.

Well, I enjoyed my time here, and I’ll probably be back. The cheese, and onion pie was good even if it was split at one part (as can seen in one of these photos). Also the Guinness was good so, can’t complain much… it is a very charming place on the inside too (rather rustic), as I don’t usually take this many photographs… Edit, on second visit the pie was much better, though it seemed to take longer to make (probably a good thing though, really!)

Not living in Prestbury I recently found out that a number of pubs in the village were dog friendly. Accordingly I tried a couple of them including Ye Olde Admiral Rodney on the main village high street and took my dog along. Whilst there I heard that the following day an Indian street food outlet was being hosted there on Thursday and Friday called Indian Goat. Apparently it received recent fame by a visit from TVs The Hairy Bikers. The place was fully booked up but I found a place at the bar and later tried the Tangra king prawns and Chennan chicken under their ‘small plates’ section of the menu. I have to say that they were the best Indian starters I have ever tasted and will definitely visit them in Bollington in the near future. The pub is a Robinson’s house with classic trusted beers such as Bitter and Dizzy Blonde. The decor is traditional and homely and sometimes there’s even a crackling fire. The staff were very friendly and professional and attentive to your needs. They do have their own wide menu but didn’t try at that time. Prestbury is known for its affluent population which may suggest stuffy posh guests. On the contrary I talked to a number of people at the bar and they were all very warm and chatty. The pub is just four minutes walk from the railway station so why not leave the car at home like I did. I had a brilliant night and I think this is now my local even if it isn’t around the corner.

The Admiral Rodney is located in the centre of Prestbury. There is a small car park at the rear of the pub for about 10 cars. The pub was clean and well presented in a very attractive traditional way. There were 3 real ales on offer, Unicorn, Dizzy Blonde and Cumbrian Way all from the Robinson's stable. There was also a good choice of lagers, wines and spirits. The food menu concentrated on traditional pub food and was served and presented to a good quality. The staff were very pleasant and the service was good. The prices were on the high side reflecting it's Cheshire location in the centre of affluent Prestbury. If you are in the area I would certainly recommend a visit.

Fetched up at the Admiral Rodney completely by accident yesterday (long story!) and were very glad we had. We just wanted a modest lunch in pleasant surroundings, but due to recent lockdowns the one thing we had been dreaming of was a meal in a pub beer garden. We found the staff lovely and helpful and very quick to take our order once we'd found a table, and although the meal itself took a little longer to arrive than we'd expected that was made up for by (a) the sheer pleasure of sitting outside to eat and (b) the quality of it when it came. Couldn't fault the quality of the food, the price or the ambience - this was the pub garden meal we'd been dreaming of for fifteen long weary months! - and everyone we spoke to was both charming and efficient. Thank you all for making this such a delightful experience!

Aggressive Unfriendly Service! Visited this pub two Friday afternoons in a row, October 2020. Upon entering we were greeted with an unfriendly and aggressive: “What do you want?” We wanted time to look at the drinks available on tap but on both occasions were pressured to get on and make a choice and sit down so the drinks could be hastily brought to our table. We were then asked if we were members of the same household (group of 3). Upon replying no we were aggressively told to separate and sit metres apart. If you want to feel like a valued guest do not visit this pub! Embarrassing unpleasant experience. We all agreed we will not visit again.

I visited the Rodney as a pit stop on a dog walk with a date...we stayed for a couple of drinks and met the proprietor and his wife who were more than welcoming. The pub made generous provisions for us to sit either in or outside with our dogs, and we sat in a well heated patio area without dogs. Its was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and courteous, coming saying hello to us and our dogs, patrons too...it was very welcoming to a first time visitor. Our drinks were poured well and tasted great, and whilst us humans didnt eat at this visit the owner was more than happy to provide complimentary sausages for the dogs on a cold day! ( wed have happily paid...but would hear of it!) Overall, it was a warm, welcoming and lovely visit to Ye Olde Admiral Rodney that I wouldnt hesitate to repeat! Thanks to proprietors; our dogs felt as welcome as us humans did!

We visited the Wizard Tea Rooms while attending a corporate volunteering day at Alderley Edge National Trust Park, and what a treat the Tea Rooms were! From start to finish, my colleague and I had easy communication with the lovely ladies who run the tea rooms - Harriet and Rachel. They provided us with the menu and prices in advance of the day, and we decided to opt for teas and coffees in the morning, soup and sandwiches for lunch, and another round of teas of coffees after lunch for our group of 26. One week on and I'm still talking about the delicious mushroom and garlic soup, cheese and beetroot sandwiches, BLTs and egg mayo sandwiches! We felt everything was reasonably priced, and the ladies took great care of us on the day -nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Wizard Tea Rooms to friends and family, or corporate companies. In fact, I will be back to visit with my kids and dog for an ice cream (yes they do doggy ice cream too!) Also - the venue itself is gorgeous - seating indoors (all 26 fit inside), but plenty outside too. Really charming old-world feel inside the tea room which we all loved. Many thanks to the wonderful staff for looking after us so well - Alison and James.
