Stayed the night of Friday 8th November in room 6. The room, as with the bathroom, was truly disappointing, not so much tired as exhausted. Yes, the hotel is a magnificent graded one listed buliding, more than 400 years old, yet the room and its furnishings neither reflected that age or attempted to be of today. The water in the bathroom tap was too hot to touch, while the water in the bath was at best tepid. There was a remoteness and a lack of welcome to the service we received both at reception and in the restaurant. All in all, our visit was disappointing, while our visit to Nantwich was great.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant yesterday evening. Upon visiting Nantwich for one night we were looking for a vegan option so were pleased to find The Crown offers a suitable burger. The waitress was lovely and very kindly informed us of what was available to us chip-wise, using the vegan fryer (note: fries not hand-cooked chips). She was really considerate and that was very much appreciated. The burger was a Beyond Burger, which is available in many places, but the way it was dressed and served was👌. Compliments to the chef! Thank you.

I had an extremely unpleasant stay at Crown Hotel. On Thursday night, the hotel hosted a birthday party with live music that went on until 1 a.m. The walls were paper-thin, making it impossible to sleep. This was not only inconsiderate but also shows a complete lack of respect for guests, especially those staying for business. A hotel should be a place of quiet and rest, but this stay was the opposite. Very disappointed in the lack of hospitality and disregard for guest comfort.

This was a lunch for 17 people. We had, understandably, been asked to pre order . On arrival we were seated, room made for the wheelchair user and orders taken for drinks, which arrived very quickly. All 17 meals arrived at the same time, all very nicely presented, hot and very tasty. dishes quickly removed and desserts served. Whilst finishing desserts our coffee orders were taken. The staff were excellent, in fact we never noticed they were there, which was perfect. I really can't find fault, especially when there were so many of us eating from all over the menu. The kitchen must be very well organised. The price of the food, considering the quality and portion size, was I thought very reasonable, in fact cheaper than the pub down the road which is very basic. it's the first time I've eaten there, in fact it wasn't first choice but that restaurant didn't want 17 covers on a Friday lunch time, their loss, and I'll certainly be back to the Crown.

The food was very good, as usual. However, when discussing an issue concerning the Wednesday wine offer, dealing with customers in an appropriate way did not appear to be a skill that had been acquired by the individual serving us! It was quite unpleasant and put a damper on the evening.

Lovely pub in the centre of Nantwich. Late 16th century and a must visit for history lovers. The existing establishment was built on the site of an earlier inn that was destroyed in the Great Fire of Nantwich of 1583. It was very visit when we visited (a Friday night) but service was swift. We didn't try the food, but we will be back at some point to try it.

I stayed 5 nights at the Crown Hotel for work. It is located in the city centre, close to all the shops, restaurants, pubs and train station. The room was comfortable and spacious enough for one person. The staff was very friendly, always greeted me with a smile, and in one instance they allowed me to leave my unfinished take out food in their fridge and offered to heat it up and take it up to my room the next day. I would recommend this historic hotel to anyone passing through Nantwich.

We have hosted two events at The Crown, one in Autumn last year for a 60th and one today which was a Funeral Afterparty, and both times the facilities and service has been exceptional, everything from the buffet to the historic decor. This is the first time we have stayed in one of the rooms here, and despite the slight inconvenience of the warped floors and stairs, the building maintains a fantastic character and charm, which is what you expect when booking a room in a centuries old building. I personally love the look of the Tudor style, however I understand how it may be an acquired taste. The room I stayed in personally looked ascetically pleasing, however there was a high concentration of dust. Things like this don’t really bother me and I still enjoyed my stay overall, but it did require an improvement on the cleanliness on the dust side of things, and I didn’t have any plug sockets by my bed which was a small inconvenience. Lovely views and a really comfy, clean bed. Great place which Nantwich is lucky to have, however does have a few areas of improvement.

We decided on the Crown to have a celebration lunch for my sister & husband. It is halfway between our homes. I was aware 2 hours was ‘allowed’ for your residency. The booking was 1.30 , & we were seated but it took 15 minutes for someone to take the order & only then because we flagged someone down. A further 25 minutes before the food arrived & again I had to ask where it was. So now it is 40 minutes into our 2 hours & we haven’t eaten anything. We are not exacting in our demands but the food was poor. Our skewers were served with pitta & fries but no salad ( except a small portion of coleslaw) & my brother in laws pie had no gravy or sauce so was very dry. We paid extra for some veg for him. All of us had only one course & coffee but needed all of the 1 hour 20 minutes to achieve this. What if we had wanted 3 courses.. I wouldn’t even bother with advising of all this but we were unceremoniously reminded that we should move on by a restaurant manager. I was conscious that this was a celebration & my treat so I limited my observations to pointing out how late our food had arrived. She was wholly unapologetic , instructing me it seemed that we were lucky to benefit from 2 hours when other local establishments only offered 1.5 hrs. My brother in law commented that I was very restrained. We made all necessary allowances for the fact that things had not long opened up indoors ( may 22nd) but the experience was still very very poor.

Really lovely service - thank you! As myself and my little boy are dairy free we often struggle with food choices. I was very grateful for how adaptable both the staff and menu were. Our food was great and drinks were kept flowing for the duration of our time at the Crown. The venue was very Covid secure with frequent cleaning, hand gel stations, one way system through the restaurant and table service for drinks in the bar. Due to the older style of the crown there was no baby changing facilities but staff made sure I had a private room to change baby in. We were provided with a highchair and a larger table to ensure we had plenty of space to move around. We will definitely be back again soon!!!

Have been here a few times over the last year, as we chose this for our wedding venue. There has always been a warm welcome and friendly, cosy ambience. Due to Covid we sadly had to postpone our wedding, but were able to just make it by the skin of our teeth on 10th October. We can quite honestly say the service and attention to detail was perfect. Lorraine is a breath of fresh air and such fun and she worked very closely with our wedding planner to give us an absolutely perfect day for a wedding party of 15. The food was delicious, definitely no question about that. The portion sizes were generous (not so good when you have a bridal corset on) and our room was very clean and comfortable. Our wedding menu was mushroom soup with pickled wild mushrooms, the roast sirloin of beef with all the trimmings, followed by a cheeseboard (the hunks of cheese were huge - fabulous when you love cheese as much as us). A brilliant place to just go and sit and have a drink and/or a snack - but makes the most wonderful and beautiful wedding venue. We had a fairytale day and will be back as soon as we can.

The ballroom for the New Year’s Eve gala dinner was laid out lovely, with great decorations. What was disappointing was the service of the food and some aspects of food quality. For £75, per person, I expected to go outside to serve myself the cheese course, but to also have to go outside to serve yourself coffee as well, I found rather surprising. In addition the garlic prawns for the starter were served on bread, which was so hard, it was like a biscuit and the variety of cheeses for the cheese course were small. The main course was good and hot, but the baileys dessert had no taste of baileys at all. The music was good, from the DJ and band. However the value for the price paid did not meet our expectations. Overall pretty average, which was a shame, as we were expecting better from our first visit to the Crown for NYE.

A recent joint 60th/30th family dinner was spoilt by a mixture of disorganisation and poor customer service at the Crown. I went into the venue 2 months prior to the date we wanted to book and reserved a specific table, partly because it was in a quiet corner and 2 of our party have poor hearing and partly because it was round and so allowed everyone to join in. Normally, when we walk in they recognise us and immediately order our favourite choice and it is all carried out efficiently and with no fuss. Today we had to put up with this loud waiter who was far from efficient, noisily walking up and down to the kitchen. The food was outstanding, quantity and temperature. The service was exemplary and so was the price!! ThNk you for such a great meal

The hotel is well located in the centre of the town. The building and the decor convey a strong sense of history - some of the pictures and artefacts are very old and the decor is very much in keeping with the age and style of the building- that in itself is a good reason to visit. The food is unremarkable but edible and there is a fairly good choice. The soup did not taste of anything but it was hot and thickly satisfying. Sweet potato fries were good. The service was fine on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime.

Have attended 3 times in the last six weeks. Always excellent service, against a previous comment, our German Maitre'D I think is great, pays attention to to detail and always puts a smile on our face. Regarding the staff, they are great, a table behind us complained about everything, but ate it all before complaining and wanting complementary desserts, the way they spoke to the staff was not acceptable. Even the table next to us said they were taking the piss. We had a great meal, and a great time, but there is no pleasing some people.

I went for a family meal but the whole evening was spoilt by the tall waiter. He was objectionably loud all evening . It was not the usual pleasant ambience which is why we often come for a meal here. His sort of humour, if you can call it that, is not appreciated.

Visited with my husband and parents. Despite there being a large group booking and a pretty full restaurant service was swift and we really didn’t wait long for the food. Prices are fair and the quality is good. All staff were lovely particularly the German Maitre’D. One minor quibble is that it is a particularly warm restaurant (but it’s a listed building so you can’t expect them to be able to instal massive air conditioning units). We’ll be back again soon.

Had a delightful Meal here, great king prawn starter followed by a trio of fish dishes. All excellent and very good value. Nice cosy atmosphere too. Charming helpful staff.

Visited many times to eat or sit by the fire and have a drink. Never had a problem with food but I always think the service behind the bar is not very welcoming. On the latest visit the staff were conducting a loud conversation using poor language a times which isn’t in keeping or necessary and carrying on with no awareness of customers around the area. It is a pet friendly bar and well positioned in the town

This was a lunch to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of Nantwich Historical Society, with a large party of 29, so quite challenging from a catering point of views. From start to finish, everything worked perfectly:

Almost perfect! The food was great, good selection on the menu, no issues with service speed and the waitresses were all very friendly. I has mussels (classic) to start and a burger for main. I have 2 very minor issues which do not warrant a less than excellent score, but something for the restaurant to bear in mind for future. Typically when you're eating food which requires you to use your hands, such as ribs, prawns with the heads on or mussels etc, you would expect to pe provided with a little wipe so that you could clean your hands afterwards ... this wasn't provided. And also, I was not asked how I wanted my burger to be cooked, I would have preferred it a little pink and it was cooked all the way through with no choice on the level of cooking offered. Next time (and I shall be returning) I will specify medium for the burger when I order it! All diners in our party were very happy with their food, one had steak and had it well done (eek!) and it was still very tender even when cooked well done. No space for dessert so can't comment on those.

Unfortunately we may have chosen the wrong food as we had pizza which was horrible and possibly the grill options would have been much nicer. But it was still quite pricey for what you got. So potentially the crown should be 3 star if the other food is better.
