The best restaurants in Redcar and Cleveland North East

Ordered from here most of the food was okay but we got a burger and it was pathetic had next to nowt on it when I phoned they didn’t want to hear it

We called into Scrumptious fish and chip shop in Redcar early on Saturday evening the day after Good Friday 2025 - when they had sold out of fish for the first time in 20 odd years. This is a family run chipper now in its third generation. We ordered two portions haddock and chips (£7 per portion) together with a pot of mushy peas. When I relayed to the owner that we were disappointed to not to have been able to buy their fish and chips the day before (and had, instead, bought a KFC), she kindly threw in a free portion of cod. What excellent customer service. The fish was delicious: bright white and succulent, the batter was crisp and the chips were crisp and soft. All very tasty and excellent value for money. If you are in the Redcar area then why not head to Scrumptious: in addition to the fish bar they also have a sandwich bar.

If you like pizza and parmesan then it’s best place to go . Food quality is awesome.

As a group of friends we regularly visited but then stoped for a while as although food good we felt the menu should have changed they also changed to no cash which did not sit well with my friends. We decided to return Friday as noted menu had changed however it is clear that there are new people running the cross keys so you can use cash. It was really quite empty for a Friday whereas previously it had been full. The service was good but the menu is lacking not enough varied choice and only one choice for vegetarian vegan. Clearly not cooked from scratch. Chips frozen and pies bought in. I had the duo chicken and have never seen such tiny amounts of chicken on a plate. In fact we all said portions were small. I left hungry. For £18.00 it was not good value for money. I did too but that was for the service from the two young people who served us at our table. Disappointed and did wonder if others felt the same and that was the reason why it was not busy. Cross keys need to offer more variation on their menu and larger potions please. Won’t be returning

Just popped in to order a korma and a tikka masala on our way home from a day out! Without doubt the worst Indian takeaway we have ever had! Obvious the chicken is out of a frozen bag as all identical in shape and loaded with sugar! Felt like we were both eating a dessert! Vile! Went in the bin, wouldn't even give it to the dogs!

The pizzas there are mint, definitely will be back

the food was stone cold, used to be the best in town and I'm absolutely disappointed in all of the order, nothing worse then tipping the driver and realising the box is cold, by the time it was dished out we couldn't eat it as it was cold

Just had to write this review as our meal and all the staff were exceptionally fantastic, we came here for Mothers Day lunch, I have been here before but many years ago but thought I'd give it a try and I'm so glad we did, we all had Sunday roasts which were massive, tons of veg to accompany it as well, very tasty and just had enough room for a pud, the staff were absolutely lovely and there were plenty of them, we didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive, I'm definitely putting the jolly sailors on my list of favourites that's for sure.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Amelia Lodge, the bed was soo comfortable, the hottub was lovely and private. Our little girl absolutely loved it and we had a few tears she couldn’t stay. The food was amazing. Very good portion sizes and the breakfast was amazing. Will 100% book again. Thank you soo much.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good. Now I know I can freeze their meals, despite the fact we have to travel to get there, we will be back - if only to stack the freezer!

Asked for 2 lattes and got 2 very milky weak coffees. Disappointed as normally you get a nice latte from Camfields. The paper cups are a let down too the lids have a bigger hole when drinking it goes everywhere. Went in the bin today and not cheap either.

£6.70 for a sausage sandwich and a cup of tea. Budget quality sausages budget quality tea budget quality stale bread. Over priced very poor value. It's such a shame because the location is perfect and it could be a popular place that people would return to.
