£6.70 for a sausage sandwich and a cup of tea. Budget quality sausages budget quality tea budget quality stale bread. Over priced very poor value. It's such a shame because the location is perfect and it could be a popular place that people would return to.

Charged £4.20 for the worst bacon sandwich I have ever seen. I'm embarrassed for this place. Two cheap slices of thin bread and some bacon slapped in between (barely cooked). Served in a polystyrene box with a piece of kitchen towel. I can't imagine anyone going back a second time. They must be reliant on unsuspecting visitors. Don't make the same mistake as me, keep walking and find somewhere else to spend your money.

Went for a bacon and sausage sandwich and a coffee. I was expecting it to be in a bread bun but it came in 2 bits of white bread. There was a small amount of bacon and 1 sausage. It was totally underwhelming. The food has, never been this poor before. Friends I was with had a cheese toasty which they said was ok. The food came in polystyrene boxes which isn’t what I expected for a sit down cafe. So much for helping the planet.

The bacon sandwich is usually exceptional, but regrettably, on this occasion, it contained a meager amount of bacon, which was profoundly disappointing. The lady who took my order appeared overwhelmed and disinterested, neglecting even the basic courtesy of a greeting, despite the lack of busyness. My previous breakfast experience was superb, characterized by exemplary service from a different staff member and an impeccably prepared sandwich. It seems that the staff changes every weekend, and it is truly unfortunate how some individuals exhibit such a lackadaisical attitude towards their work.

No plates. No cutlery. Paper cups and food served in polystyrene boxes with a wooden knife. If this place is geared up to be a takeaway, then why have tables and chairs inside? If I wanted to eat out of takeaway boxes with wooden knives and paper cups I would go to MacDonalds. When I saw there were tables and chairs inside I assumed it catered for diners - obviously I was very wrong

Whilst visiting my sister, we had a chilly but invigorating walk along the prom and decided to call in at Surfs Up for a warming drink. The biggest, friendliest smiles greeted us as we walked in. It's kind of like a 50's retro diner with the red banquettes and we settled down to enjoy our drinks. Apparently they're open all year (apart from Christmas Day) and had a good display of cakes available too. So pop in, you won't be disappointed.

I usually sit outside with my 2 well behaved dogs to get a coffee here, after our walk from Marske. Today the weather was atrocious, with the wind and rain both coming directly in from the North Sea. I left the dogs outside and popped in to ask if they'd mind if I brought the dogs inside because of the weather. The cafe was empty. 'No' was the response. One customer less on a February morning and probably for future visits!!

Went to Saltburn 2.3.23 the cafe was fairly quiet. We found a couple of seats in the window with a lovely view of the sea. Ordered a hot chocolate , Latte and ice cream. The small twenty something dark haired female server started to write the order down then quickly scribbled the ice cream order out rudly prompting my partner to go outside of the cafe to the window to order the ice cream! This resulted in him having to wait in a quew and pay for our order in two separate transactions. How ridiculous! No manners, no rationale , no please and no thank you! Drinks where fine , ice cream was fine it's just a shame people make it obvious they clearly don't like their job and let down the establishment.

This is a coffee and cake shop in Saltburn. Ok they wanted to keep you outside probably because of COVID....this is July '22. They asked me if I wanted sugar with my coffee and added it rather than give me a sugar sachet. This might be fine for the 1970s but not now. The coffee was quite weak and consequently overly sweet. A cherry chocolate brownie tasted neither of chocolate nor cherry but it was thankfully small ...despite the price! Another customer was left waiting whilst one "barista" answered a mobile and then walked out into the street to chat. Sorry Surf Up...you are currently not on top of the wave. Oh by the way, try smiling at your customers....it costs nothing. :-)

Ordered 2 drinks and a sausage sandwich to takeaway, drinks arrived 5minutes later. 30 minutes went by no sandwich and still people before me not served. Asked young girl about the food and got told lots of food orders! No apology, no estimate of how long it would take. 4 staff doing drinks and orders one girl on her own with food whilst the boss plays on her mobile . Rude and unpleasant teenage girl on the ice cream counter, thinks she is clever mocking people to her friend behind the counter when she thinks you can't hear. Perhaps she needs to take some training from the teenage boy that usually works the counter there who is always very polite and friendly. Not only does she let the cafe down but also the town, won't be returning to Surf's Up! She's lucky she didn't end up wearing the ice cream.

We decided to visit Saltburn to enjoy a nice bright winters day. Myself , my wife and my granddaughter after a brisk walk decided to have something to eat at Surfs Up on the main drag. Small but very clean in side we took a booth and ordered. The sign said no card payments ,which I always find very strange & frustrating in this day and age; not everyone carries cash and there was no evident cash machine near by ,so be warned. Order was taken and our drinks arrived very quickly. However the food, full breakfast, bacon/egg sandwich and a cheese toastie ,took a very long time to come even though it was not busy. However saying that the food was hot and decent for a small cafe. A nice place for a light bite & a drink but remember to have cash!

Having spent a fair amount for my families lunch we purchased a sweet pasty from next door for later in the day which we placed on the table in a bag as it was hot. Not once but twice we got told we couldn’t eat it there before our lunch had even arrived. The two members of staff that told us were like Rottweilers, not just a quiet mention to which I would have moved it off the table but I didn’t because of the way it was said. The couple on the next table even commented to us as they left about the way we were spoken to. The panini was the soggiest I’ve ever had and we had to ask that the long handled latte spoons were removed from our cappuccino cups as my daughter near knocked it over twiceAs they were so long off the saucer. Our plates were removed before we’d all finished which I said we were still eating and they still got whisked away. The children wanted ice cream, needless to say we went elsewhere!

I went for the cream cheese ham bagel which was delicious with proper thick ham. I would certainly be returning on our next family day out to Talacre Beach.

like all sea fronts there is a host of cafes serving the normal foods expected, the food was ok but nothing special all arrived at different times I had to ask for sugar twice, children running round crying babies, I wouldn't return but I recognise its a busy location for families.

We arrived today at about 1pm with our two dogs. We were greeted and pointed to the dog area. The dog friendly area is very small which wasn’t a problem as there was a table free. We were ordered at the bar and then the knocking and banging from building work started and was on and off during our time there. It would have been nice if someone had informed us that this was going on before we ordered and got settled for what was to be a leisurely lunch. The meals came after a reasonable wait, husbands steak pie huge and tasty, however I ordered the fishcake. It was on a bed of wilted rocket that was supposed to be the seasonal salad, the fishcake had all broken up it had been fried so much and the poached egg was virtually hard. I asked the waitress if that was it and she said she had checked with the chef and it was, but she didn’t want to serve it. I obviously sent it back and made a different order which was pleasant but we both ended up eating lunch at different times. No one came over to check on the second meal or to apologise. The pub was very quiet and there were numerous staff dotting about. Very poor customer service. Surely it would have been better to gain a happy customer on site rather than a poor review on Facebook. We left very disappointed. The only really exceptional thing was the dogs 4oz rump steak.

This is an old established pub serving food. Busy on a Sunday and needed to book a table. Food was average, although plenty of it, although extra gravy was (I think) £1.50 for a small jug. Slightly let down by poor staff, with the exception of the lady with the plaster cast on her wrist. Generally too young and inexperienced. One didn't know the difference between a lager and an ale. And another was surly when asked why she had topped up a G & T full to the top of the glass with tonic, without first asking how much we required

We stopped here with the dogs for lunch during a long walk. The new landlord of only a few weeks has already created a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Full marks for good value lunch (home made soup was delicious) , friendly staff and spotless “Ladies”!
