Scrumptious in Redcar and Cleveland

The cod and chips are delicious here. Cooked in dripping. The peas and curry are very nice too. Only complaint is the portion size. You don't get a lot of chips with your cod and it seems very expensive for what you get. Staff are friendly, loud and full of banter.

Lovely food, and staff from this fish/sandwich shop, prices are reasonable, lots of choice especially for my picky grandchildren x

This FISH SHOP /SANDWICH SHOP is a family run business, the food is second to non, the selection of fresh sandwiches/SALADS/JACKET POTATOES made in front of you. (seafood, Spicy meatballs, /Ham /tikka/coronation chicken/ plus many more. . (if there is a certain sandwich you want but not on show they will make u it up especially if you have a certain craving lol) "The fish shop part again is all freshly made, (massive portion size) They even have. Freshly made pastries and cakes. the staff are so friendly, we have used this shop for years. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

We ordered fish and chips twice. We got cod because they didn't have any haddock in. The cod was lovely. Nice big flakes and very fresh. The chips were tasty too. Not too over cooked but crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. The chips were proper too. Not loads of half scrappy chips. Proper thick ones :)

Never had a bad take-a-way from here; fish and chips, large beef burger, curry sauce and peas - yes please!!

Always go here because of the tasty fish - they also do fish batter free or lightly battered for those on a diet. Big portions- they never scrimp and food always delicious

This place serves salads and pies which are really tasty. Choosing your salad is a great idea as not everyone likes all the choices available. (I can definitely recommend their pork pies but you have to be really early as they sell out fast.). Evenings mean that the salad bar closes and a traditional fish and chip shop takes over. There is a good selection of dishes available, including small portions for children or someone with a little appetite.

Use this chippie every now and again. Used it for Saturday tea. Staff on duty very helpful and friendly today but not always the case, other staff on other days have been grumpy and think it's a hardship to serve you! On this occasion my granddaughter got cheesy chips and garlic sauce which she enjoyed and I got fish and chips, chips were good but fish was dry, quite dark in colour and I think it had been stood awhile. Overall I will probably use this chippie again but will get fish from my favourite one in town.

I'm lucky enough that this is my local chippie. It's great value and the chips are easily better than any you get in town. Staff are lovely and helpful. Cannot recommend it enough.

I used this fish and chip shop for the first time , and it will be the last, the staff were ignorant, no hello , or can I help , it was what do you want, I was given fish and chips that were like warm and the fish was a dirty colour, I couldn't be bothered to go back in to speak to the staff so the local bin was served with poor offerings. Never again

Just been to this chippy was greeted buy would you like fish i said yes please service was prompt cant complain about thatupon been served i noticed the server picking the fish to the left that was already done before i got asked if i wanted fish so don't know how long it had been cooked any way walked 20 yards to my car drove 1/2 a mile home.served fish it needed to be microwaved to heat it up.if i wasn't starving i would have took it back and complained If i'm served good food i'm just as prompt at giving positive feed back but this was dreadful if i wanted microwave food i would have bought frozen from a supermarket this was the first time i have bought fresh fish in years I wont be ordering from this shop again.

Been here maybe a dozen times since the place has been open. In my opinion the best chip shop in Redcar, the chips always taste fresh and hot! The few occasions I've had the fish it's been lovely aswel! Their sauces are lovely aswel! Curry & garlic especially! I've had a sandwich from here aswel which was okay. They do burgers / jacket potatoes aswel but I've not tried these

Visited here 16th Feb.It was around 1pm so you expect busy.The shop has two sections a chip shop side and a salad/sandwich side.We went for the chip shop side.There were about 4 people behind the counter and they seemed to be getting in each others way all the time.There are customers stood around waiting for their freshly coo9ked fish order so you dont know whos next in the queue. We were served by a very pleasant lady who was obviously new to the job but was learning well.She might have learnt better if she had been stuck on at a quieter time. Our food was lovely,as indeed it has been every time ive been here.

Rang ahead to order fish and chips, always ready on time, it's a very clean shop, the fish is fab and they do a smaller size for kids or those with a smaller appetite and the chips are not greasy and full of bad bits. The staff work extremely hard and always have a smile on their face, keep up the good work!

This is, by far, one of the best chip shop in Redcar. Decent portions, decent prices, nice clean shop too!

During the day this shop is a great place to pick up a salad box or pie. The salad box was big enough for both of us to share. When evening comes it turns into a takeaway fish and chip shop. The shop is very clean and tidy and the portions are all very good. The pork pies, if you get there early enough, are warm and delicious.

The best chip shop in Redcar,, portions are spot on fish are fantastic,,,, it a town full of chip shops there's always the best one and this is it . Keep up the good work

Love this place. Good people, great fish, lovely chips, curry sauce is just right and you're never left waiting too long. Also fab for jacket potatos and sandwiches.

If you want good fish and chips then this place is up there among the best, also if you just want a nice pie or a good sandwich made up of your choice then it's a must try, all round a good quick food place

Excellent chippy and sandwich shop. The pies are good too. Great value for money and the tastiest chippy in the area for me. Massive servings as well.

Never fails with its take away fish and chips. Always tasty and hot. Great curry sauce. Can be busy 16:30 to 17:30. Fish cooked to satisfy customers. Very friendly staff.

Went to scrumptious tonight for takeout tea. The chips were cold and you couldn't exactly call them chips! They were scrappy and lacked potato they definitely were not big and fluffy. My burger was ok nothing special. Gravy was good though and staff were pleasant Probably won't go back when there are so many chippies to choose from in this town.

Fast food and plenty of it.. good quality fresh food and definitely a regular for me. Make sure you try this place, you won't be going anywhere else afterwards.

Always come here for sandwiches, although the bread rolls are getting increasingly smaller, very reasonable priced!! Fish and chips average; nothing special. Some of the staff are very moody and miserable.

having being served by some miserable looking polite staff , i expected good fish and chips ,( as they were when this shop 1st opened ) , I was very disappointed to find a rather pathetic excuse for fish , it was more like reformed & mixed with something else a poor excuse for fish , just a thin mess underneath a crispy batter , chips were fine, curry sauce ok. will not be going again though

The food is good, especially the chips and gravy and the value for money is also okay. The staff however do make myself and others feel awkward and need to learn how to smile or atleast act polite towards paying customers. I chose to go here because it's the closest chippy to my house apart from the one that does awful crinkled cut chips.

My father lives near to Scrumptious (as do many other senior citizens) so I pop in there on a regular basis.It is split into two service areas, one for sandwiches/jacket potatoes, the other for fish and chips etc.I have always found the food to be at a decent standard. I think the number of people who flock there every single day speaks for its self.I've never had a problem with the fish and chips etc but do find the sandwiches and jackets to be over priced. The Cornish pasties are £1.30 which I find incredible.The staff really need a course in Customer Service. As SamRobbo mentions, they can't raise a smile between them and one or two of them serve with a huff and puff as if they are doing you a favour!!. And I agree about the tiniest spot of cheap margarine them drop onto a bun. It's nowhere near as bad as Jack (below) mentions. If he really believes he got a headache from eating fish and chips - well, that and his spelling speaks volumes for his intellect.

Regularly visit this sandwich shop. The food is nice, a little bit over priced, but still nice. Jacket potatoes are massive. But you only get about of salad. The service isn't the best, not a smile between them behind the sandwich counter. I always feel like its too much hard work for them, not to put butter (cheap horrible marg) on the buns. I will go back again, as it is nice food, and a good location. Good parking.

I went here as I was in a rush. So ate the fish and chips and, then I felt ill I couldn't stop going to the toilet to, I also had a headache. This place is discussing so don't go their!

Tasted very good and fresh chips and the fish was really white... a lot better than anywhere else in redcar. batter was great reccomend, reccomend every timexxx

Seriously gross sandwiches. Filled with mayo and no taste. Jacket spuds ate over priced, beans watered down and awful. Never had the chips. Won't go again.not worth it.

Bought fish and chips from here once. After having the food almost thrown at me across the counter, it was uncomfortable asking for salt. The food was so bad after a mouth full I have up and des then to the dog..... He wouldn't eat them either.

Absolutely the best chip shop in Redcar! Good sized portions, the only down side is that the staff could be a bit happier!

Very poor, and so much better fish and chips to choose from in Redcar. Its a pity really that better traders havent got prime position like these. Its always a wonder to me that I see anyone in there.Been there four times, batter very poor, sausage so disgusting I had to spit out, fish sloppy. Chips adequate only.I would recommend a place in Dormanstown instead.

best fish & chip shop in redcar! Big portions and melt in the mouth fish! We normally get cod and chips twice curry sauce and mushy peas for £10.20 and it's worth every penny!
