We called in here on the way down from New Year holidays in Edinburgh to London for lunch. Really pleased we did. The weather was, as usual, terrible but the cafe was warm and inviting. The log burner was roaring and the the place was full. There are lots of really cool artworks around the walls which kept both the kids and hubby interested. The kids had toasties which they loved and the grown ups opted for soup and sandwiches which were all delicious and freshly homemade. The chap serving us was really friendly and knocked us up superb coffees and Hot creamy chocolates. A lovely cool spot to stop off at.
Fabulous lunch :)
Great service from lovely, friendly people.
Delicious food, beautifully presented and fantatic value for money 'lunchtime special' menu.
You should go :))
Without doubt, Doddington ice cream is the best - and that’s the best and most positive thing I can say.
The coffee we bought were both minuscule and really not very warm. Two double scoop waffle cones, two very small coffees and one water came to £17.90.
The service was shockingly slow. We had our ice creams long before our coffees were made, so one of us sat at a bench holding two cones waiting for the drinks and for those reasons, no matter how good the ice cream, we won’t be returning.
We visited for lunch en route to Kielder and opted for the lunchtime special. Excellent selection of starters, mains and desserts, something for everyone’s taste. My partner and son were slightly disappointed with their food as the description on the menu stated that it had gammon and also duck eggs but when it arrived it was cold ham and the eggs were not duck eggs. My steak and ale pie was delicious though, and son’s partner really enjoyed the fish and chips.
The desserts were fantastic! Chocolate mousse with honeycomb for the guys which they really loved. Dairy-free ice cream for son’s partner and I had the mixed berry cheese cake with some double cream. That was absolutely fantastic so much so that I am tempted to ask for a whole one to take home next time we visit, which I hope will be very soon.
The pub itself is very homely, with a wood burning stove and I noticed a bookcase including kids’ books etc. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, very typical of local Northumbrian hospitality. We went on a sunny(-ish!) day and the view was lovely across from the pub. It was very handy for a lunch stop on our way up to Kielder as it’s on the main route from Otterburn up to the border (Carter Bar).
Thank you very much, see you soon.
Hopless service again. Can you tell the time waiting 20 min . Why do you serve sit in customer before the people who order over the phone and pay . Crap service
We always try to support local independent businesses and Micahs is definitely worth supporting. Great food and great service is always on offer and the bonus there is always
great welcome for our dog Orla.
First time I have visited wood oven and I would definitely go back.
We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in and we thoroughly enjoyed the food!
We look forward to returning some time soon.
Would recommend to anyone.
Nice atmosphere on a morning with fantastic, fresh, flavourful bacon in a crunchy roll. Coffee is also great and service is quick and staff are friendly.
