We visited here Monday and Tuesday evenings during our trip to Hexham, the service was friendly and helpful, cocktails were delicious

241 cocktails are unbelievable value! Two for £10.95 and there’s a large selection to choose from! Well mixed and presented and the gent behind the bar was really friendly and welcoming (27.07.23)! Definitely worth a visit if you’re out for a drink!

Quite a quirky little cocktail bar. Visually, looked like something you might find in the 1980s American Mid-West. Lots of high stools around tables, a little leather sofa in the corner. Didn't try the cocktails but the menu was impressive! Staff were lovely and accommodating. Very relaxed atmosphere, and the Hexham local clientele were both harmless and self-contained. The smell of smoking from outside did creep in through the door, so sit at the back if this concerns you.

Called in on a frosty Wednesday evening. Fab layout, great logistics. I had a simple kraken and coke. Served exceptionally well, squeeze of lime , lots of ice. Worth a visit all day ( and night) long.

Staff were lovely. Range of cocktails were good. It would have been nice if there were a mocktail menu. My only complaint is that when entering it was not particularly a nice smelling venue.

It's OK good range of shorts quite pricey

We called in on a Thursday evening while staying in Hexham for a few days. First impressions- thought it was closed as there was no one in ! However a very friendly bar maid, made us feel welcome. They had bogof on cocktails and you could get 2 different ones. It was decorated in a modern fashion and very clean. Good background music playing. Not much atmosphere as it was quiet, but worth a visit.

This is the second time we stopped at this place sat outside waiting to be served first time ok the Lad came out and served us but today we waited and waited I went in girl said I won’t be a minute she doing nothing waited again for few minutes went back again she was serving some one else total lack of respect place was not busy two customers that’s it feel for the owner during these hard times don’t need staff like that sorry

Very well set up for the covid rules

Visited Tuesday evening. Two groups already in. No booking required (may be different on a weekend). All Covid-19 measures in place and adhered too. Trendy cocktail bar with appropriate low level music playing - added to the good atmosphere. Great friendly service (from Tracey I think!). Cocktails BOGOF all day every day £8.95. My cocktail was nice but I couldn’t taste the alcohol a bit disappointing as I was told by a colleague that this place serves the strongest cocktails she’d ever had! It may be that I chose a ‘mild’ one - Baileys and vodka were the only alcoholic (I think!). Definitely worth a visit though.

It is nice place during day. Staff are lovely all of them. Nice and polite. I haven’t got a chance to visit evening but I am sure it is good as normal. They also do meal some certain days and it is really chip and tasty.

Love this place. A great bar in Hexham. They have a great range of drinks including ales and ciders and my wife likes to try all the different gins. Love the music nights on a Friday as well. Staff are lovely. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back.

This is a fab bar with lots of great things such as quiz nights and live music. I went for a gin tasting event. This was great fun. The gin just was very knowledgeable and the gins were excellent. Lovely food and nibbles with the gin and excellent value for money. Staff are lovely and we've been back many times for cocktails and drinks.

Upon entering the bar which looked pleasant enough I approached the bar, the lady was standing at the far end of the bar busy texting on her phone and said hello. She then approached me asking what we would like whilst still texting without any eye contact. At this point I turned to my fiance and knew the answer before I asked her upon saying no thanks we will go somewhere else. Customer service sorry but non existent.

Sorry but the gan of abusive idiots in the corner made us leave. At 950 tonight disgusting the way they got away with bad lingo ect infront of my wife...

It's alright. Not the sort of place I'd visit normally. I was with a group of friends and we decided to call in. There was a nice, friendly atmosphere.

There was a nice cocktail menu, although we stuck to lagers. We were there for about 45 minutes on a Saturday and were the only customers. The decor was a little tired and the service perfunctory.

Probably the bar with the best atmosphere in Hexham on our recent stay. A good mix of locals and visitors with live music being well supported. Nice selection of beers also.

He estado aquí para comer 3 veces. Cada vez con una fecha. Los novios potenciales no han durado pero el recuerdo de la buena comida y el servicio. La comida es casera y muy sabrosa. Hay siempre mucho. El personal es siempre amable y dispuesto a contestar mis alergias preguntas relacionadas. Lo único que lamento es que estoy pasando a menudo en el momento equivocado del día cuando el servicio de comida ha terminado. Me encanta como peculiar es este lugar. En el aspecto exterior típico café con fachada verde, pero por dentro es muy estilizado en negro y rojo. Estoy seguro de que por la noche es un fabuloso bar pero no he tenido el placer todavía.

Good live music but can get a bit crowded

Disfrutamos de una velada encantadora en un colega Sr. Hormigas deja doo. El buffet que se brindó fue excelente relación calidad-precio, con una buena variedad de opciones de comida. Todo el mundo hablaba de la calidad asistieron a la comida. Salchichas pegajosa eran especialmente buenas! Ambiente muy agradable y el personal del bar es muy simpático.

Para el Sábado en llamado almorzar rápido y después de ver una de sus hamburguesas caseras se sirve a un cliente, mi mente estaba hecha muy rápidamente.

Always have a delicious lunch at Mr Ants. Lots of options and I'm a big fan of the soup or soup and Sandwich combination. Lovely service and reasonably priced too. Cannot fault it.

Sr. Hormigas es un bar de vinos y sirve almuerzos de 12 - 3:00 pm. Tienen un menú variado. Nos encanta la gambas y patatas fritas, pero las otras opciones bien. El servicio es excelente y no podría ser más amable y atento. No hay necesidad de reservar y el servicio es rápido y eficiente.

Visité al Sr. Hormigas con mi hermana y sus dos hijos en el almuerzo. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida por el personal. El restaurante era limpio y acogedor. La comida que pedimos llegaron rápidamente y se veía preciosa. Pedí langostinos tempura y eran preciosas, mi hermano, que era genial ordenados chili y mi sobrina dieron comida de un niño que realmente disfruté.

I had the big bad wolf burger, it was the best burger I have ever had. Proper homemade and the chips were too...these were absolutely divine! Highly recommended. My Mam had a prawn sandwich & it was a very generous filling. Excellent value for money.

Would like to say what a lovely time we had here yesterday lunchtime, the barmaid/waitress was lovely and couldn't be more helpful and the burgers were delicious would definitely return and recommend to anyone visiting Hexham for a lunchtime treat!!!!

My friend and I had the meal deal which includes, any two sandwiches//paninis accompanied with chips and two soft drinks all for £12! I had the roast red pepper hummus and feta sandwich and my friend had the pulled pork panini. We were both really impressed and enjoyed our respective sandwiches immensely. The fat cut chips are homemade and are really very good. Often with the cafes in Hexham, the food isn't great quality, the portions are small and the prices are high. This is not the case at Mr Ants! Instead, you get a nicely sized portion that's tastes brilliant, and is also excellent value. I really recommend lunch at Mr Ants, it's a nice pub to eat in, the staff are lovely, the foods great and the prices are decent!

Had the Panini meal deal, 2 paninis with salad, 2 teas and bucket of homemade chips £12. Everything perfect, chips soft in middle and crispy outside. Pulled pork cheese and apple Panini and chicken cheese and roast pepper good quality. Lovely friendly service tea came with extra teapot to top up. Only downside for us toilet not wheelchair accessible. Passerby helped us get wheelchair up 2 steps in entrance though there are seats outside if the weather is fine. Just opposite bus station, lovely lunch.

Had a very nice meal, which was well presented and served by a really pleasant young lady.The Beer was spot on, so all in all, it is well worth a visit.

Nice surprise my husband took me to Mr ants for a birthday lunch and I had scampi and fries and he had a border rievier burger and it was amazing. Lovely wine nice to find a bar that sells sweet rose that I like !!! The staff were so attentive we will definitely be back. Thank you

I came with a friend and on the barman's recommendation we both ordered a classic cheeseburger. The burger was delicious and obviously handmade with good quality ingredients. It came with a generous helping of homemade chips and a nice salad. Fantastic value for money. Although it was quite busy when we arrived, the food came in good time and we were made to feel welcome with the friendly and attentive batman. Overall, the pub is clean, modern and offers a lot of choice. I will definitely be back to try the next seasonal menu!

We were down in Hexham for a long weekend and went to Mr Ants on the Friday night. It's a nice wee pub and really friendly atmosphere. The band played great music. Staff are very friendly and I could recommend their gin and tonics!Kirsty & Bill from Edinburgh

First if this is a really nice looking place. Very simple menu of sandwiches, posh sandwiches and burgers. The sandwiches come with a gluten free option which was great for my sister. I had the reaver burger which is served with haggis, great idea and very tasty as a combo. When biting just the burger I found it a bit bland. Wife got the scampi and loved it. She also liked the chips, I could tell that because she ate mine also. Good sized portions. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and helpful. It's just a very nice place to have a simple lunch with a good range of beers and coffees.

Was planning to visit Hexham and looking for a lunch venue ...this had good reviews.We were not disappointed ....We had the meal deal for two and it was excellent value , beautifully presented with the best chips that I have tasted for a while .Can definitely recommend this to others and will certainly eat here again when in the area ....

I loved the venue and the food was great. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. There was a good choice of drinks (alcoholic, non alcoholic, hot) and for a change the music was at a level that did not stop conversation over the table. I will certainly be back with both family and friends.

Colleagues and I wanted a warming, but simple lunch not too far away and were impressed with our meals. Thick, hearty soup and bread, and hot panini were beautifully presented and very much enjoyed. First time we had eaten here but will likely be back. Decent coffee too - which we didn't necessarily expect. try it and see!

I always enjoy going to Mr Ants this time we had Scampi and chips which was cooked to perfection I would recommend there lunches to anyone and service impeccable as ever .

Had a great lunch in here over the festive period - brilliant and particularly the Chilli Cheese Dog - yum!! Staff all wonderful and a great place to be with friends or family. Also had drinks in here one evening which were great and atmosphere brill.

Fantastic lunch in Mr Ants with my family, the food was excellent and the presentation made the food look very appealing. Whilst there they were preparing for a private party that evening and I think this would be the perfect venue for such an occasion.. Will decently call again

Irene, Steve and Richard are the most welcoming hosts. It's a lovely family run establishment. Richard is the Bar Manager and nothing was too much trouble for him. They all made sure my birthday party went off without a hitch. It's a great venue to hold a party of any type and I highly recommend it.

Food here was fabulous,extremely helpful staff,family friendly,definitely be going back,I recommend the"Big bad wolf burger".

Recently was back up in the North East and had a wonderful lunch. The posh dogs are a new addition to the menu since I last visited and they're brilliant! Great food, good service and very friendly staff. Look forward to my next visit.

I have been to Mr Ants many times for food, drinks and nights out and it is one of my favourite places to go. The food is always fantastic, really good value for money and the service is quick, friendly and always attentive. They have a fantastic choice on the food and drinks menu (Old J spiced rum being one of my favourites) and they regularly have new drinks on the pumps and in the fridges to try (Blind Pig Cider, again one of my faves!). For food I love the burgers, the Boss Burger is the best of the menu, or if I want something lighter the pastrami open sandwich is delish, especially the homemade relish. Its great during the day for a family lunch or for a weekend night out for live music and a great atmosphere. Love this place!!!

Lovely menu, food was nice but it was presented on chopping boards, they were greasy which put me off the food. the table and cutlery were far from perfect, on top of that the chef visited the mens room while he was prepping our lunch and came out wiping his hands on his apron, not nice.Service wasn't brilliant, the boards proved hard for the barman to handle, nearly wore my lunch as a result, he was also more interested in eating his own lunch over service.The whole bar needs a good clean .. skirting boards had a good 6 months worth of dust on them. I don't think I will be making a return visit.

Go here for food every other week. Staff are very attentive to change the menu for my preferences. Very clean and well ran place. Food is always 10/10 highly recommend it's just a shame more people don't go through the day
