We came to this little cafe in the heart of Britain as we had heard the food was delightful and the village was lovely. 100% accurate on both counts. Chef Carlos has a great imagination and it shows in the special sandwiches and desserts served. The sandwich I had was a chicken, ham, and avocado with garlic mayo on toasted white bread. My wife had the butternut squash falafel wrap with whipped feta and pickled beets. Chef's lovely wife Nicole extends charm and grace taking orders and dishing friendly conversation. We finished our meal with a slice of lemon icebox pie with a crust of ground digestives. It was light and delicate with a delicious taste. We walked around the village loving the smiles and friendly greetings of the village folk. Walking along the banks of the Tyne is beautiful and we visited the sites of Vindolanda and the Roman Army Fort along Hadrian's Wall. The museums are well curated and the sense of historical awe was powerful. This visit was a highlight of our trip to England from California.

A brilliant pub in so many ways :- Friendly, attentive staff (2 young females) who worked hard to ensure that customers were served quickly and efficiently (and they made time to give my black labrador some treats) Delicious food - we enjoyed steak pie, surf, & turf and Cumberland sausage all of which were reasonably priced. (Thank you chef) Excellent hand-pulled ales. The Hawkshesd red was superb. The selection of wines was also very good. Friendly locals - the atmosphere in the pub was warm and friendly and everyone was enjoying themselves. The Black Bull is out of the top drawer of great, traditional pubs and is conveniently loacated near to Hadrian's Wall. We will certainly be returning in the future. Well done to all concerned.

We chose Milecastle Inn as a place to hold a family event. It was the perfect place to choose! The pub room was incredibly cosy and the staff could not have been more welcoming. They created a special place for just us which worked incredibly well. The buffet which they provided was very good value for money and extremely tasty. We recommend the pub, staff, atmosphere and food 💯. Thank you everyone at the Milecastle Inn for making our day so special!

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst walking Hadrian’s Wall and visiting Vindolanda for a day. We had a fantastic stay. Huge rooms, very friendly staff and a central location, including the AD122 bus stop being just by the hotel. Food was wonderful, including the best breakfast menu we saw on this trip. My daughter is vegan and they had a great selection of items she could eat. Sunday lunch was excellent. Highly recommended.

The restaurant has a typical diner vibe with AMAZING customer service. The eating area is very clean and they have two clean restrooms as well. The food options are pretty good and they also have a lot of drinks, baked goods, and candy. The customer service just really stood out to me and they were all extremely nice and eager to help and please their customers. The restaurant wasn’t very busy when we were there and has plenty of seating options for many different sized groups (we had seven people and were able to get a very large table). Overall a great experience!

The Brew Bar is a small establishment on the town square, not unlike a food cart for beer. The beer selection is small but good and is a bit pricier than nearby establishments. The place does not serve food itself, but on weekends rotates in a food cart. There are a few small tables inside and out. If you don’t get there early, you won’t get a seat because the place seems to be where the locals gather on a weekend evening. Like a block party. Fun to watch. A bit hard to join in because of he lack of space.

Really enjoyed our meal here - we both had the very good asparagus starter but my mains lamb was decidedly tough. A good range of bottled bears were available but we had wine. In the morning the breakfast was very good.

Stopped here on our journey home from a week away. Lovey little cafe. Very friendly owners/staff. We were seated and served very promptly. The lady recommended the cookie dough cake, which was amazing. I wish I had bought a second portion to take home. We were offered board games for my son but didn’t play with them. Stepdad had a bacon butty and said “I can’t get over how good that bacon nutty was”. We were very impressed and wish we lived slightly closer so we could come in more! Thank you Bonnie’s!

The Tandoori shop is a small counter at which you order food to take away; there’s no seating except a bench on which to wait for your order. You do wait (e.g., 20 minutes), which is fine because the food is made when you order. For a small takeaway place, the menu is huge: every assortment of Indian fare you could want—plus pizza. You can pick the proteins sauce, type of rice. The food is good and a good value (even if there’s more sauce than protein)—especially the naan.
