Sunday with a smile (not) It’s just about 3 :45 and we are looking forward to refreshment along the Tyne valley, maybe the overpowering smell of bleach and the sight of staff manically scrubbing the service area should have been a warning. Anyway in answer to my question “ do I order here or at the table “ was “The kitchens closed” wow now that’s a tremendous response for quarter to four. Bye

Great cafe for petrol heads, cyclists and walkers alike. Fantastic location on the outskirts of Alston. Fresh home cooked food and real friendly staff. Lots of safe parking.

A little over crispy bacon for my liking but well presented

Visited here for lunch. It was busy with tables inside and out. I opted for the pork pie which I’d rank as good and my wife went for the sausage roll that was very good. I also tried the excellent Bakewell Tart. Both washed down with an excellent latte. Friendly service, decent toilets and the option to buy local sausages, black pudding and pre-made meals justified its farm shop status. I would definitely visit again.

Drove by unexpectedly on our journey from Peebles to Hull. Pleasant atmosphere with various motorcyclists. Choose from numerous snacks or slightly larger snacks. We didn't eat anything but the coffee and tea were delicious. Today the 4 stars. In addition, there are neat sanitary facilities.

What a lovely place what with the lake, excellent cafe and superb location 👌

Lovely place for a quick stop. I had the best cheese scone I have had in a very long time and the latte coffee was hot and tasted of coffee unlike some that are just milk. It was great service even though you were very busy and very friendly. We will be popping in on Saturday morning to grab a takeaway on our way past but we will be back for that breakfast 😋. Thank you all very much and keep up the great work.

Such a gem of a cafe in a beautiful location- had bacon butties & tea for 2 for £13 which was lovely- indoor & outdoor seating & small shop. Will definitely be back.

We stopped in today during a road trip with 5 of us. Very popular stopping point for motorbikes, tourists, and car enthusiasts as it's on a great driving route. The last time we visited was November on a foggy damp day, so we went inside. Today in April was very sunny, so we sat outside along with most of the guests. Lovely place to stop in for good food and drink and to chat to other like-minded people.

We took the high pass over Hartside (1903 ft) driving from Penrith to Brampton. Lovely road, stunning views. Wanted lunch. Sadly too early in the year for the railway station cafe in Alston. Set off again and came across the Nook. Fabulous home made soup and bread. There is a farm shop with local produce and a Roman Fort on the hill just behind the Nook. Great find. Friendly people.

Such a beautiful place, serene surroundings, the coffee shop itself snuggles at the bottom of the hills. Because it was a lunchtime the place was really busy but even with so many people the food was perfect 👌 the prices are reasonable and the service was amazing. Lots of vegetarian options. My veggie breakfast was spot on

A lovely little cafe in a nice spot, even on a damp January day. Highly recommend a walk around the Roman fort and a hot drink and some good grub to warm up with afterwards.

We just stayed overnight in our campervan for £5. Fantastic remote spot with stunning countryside and an intereating little stroll up tobthe Roman fort.Had the most wonderful breakfast and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Lots of lovely local produce in the farm shop too Will definitely be visiting this little gem again. Thank you. Jon

Well worth a stop, lovely cafe with sandwiches snacks and some local food. Family friendly and dog friendly and just all round friendly.

Best breakfast I've had - Didn't need the "Centurion", as my wife gave me her black pudding! Sat outside chatting to the vintage motorcycle club, before driving off in our car (at least it's a Honda).

What a gem of a place. Absolutely loved it. Stayed over in campervan as a Campra stop. Friendly and helpful staff. Bought lasagne to cook and it was lovely. Had coffees and breakfast and that was lovely too. Will definitely be back and recommend.

Worth. dropping into when you visit the neighbouring Roman fort,Epiacun. Hot meals,tea, cakes and a small farm shop. And a mix of bikers, walkers and Roman history buffs.

Food is delicious (had breakfast and dinner), staff are friendly and efficient, the place is spotless and welcoming. I stayed in my motorhome for the night for a fiver! Thanks a million for not ripping us off like some camp sites! A favourite for bikers and campers. Fabulous views, interesting walks. 10/10

I love this place! Great area in a secluded spot just outside of Alston. Great go to place for a ride out on the motorbikes. Toilets onsite are very modern and clean. Coffee and food are great for a pitstop and plenty of free parking. Great for walkers/walking groups.

Amazing food! So fresh! Had the egg and cress sandwich would highly recommend amazing portions, also recommend their chocolate and banana cake. Free parking, wheelchair accessible. Would definitely go again. Staff so friendly and accommodating.

A great experience pulling into the car park. The scenery is spectacular, and after a long ride, it is very worthwhile. The service is quick and efficient, and the staff are helpful and friendly. A good selection of food is available, so most people will be happy. Well worth the stop 😋

Nice little cafe with parking for the Roman Fort.

A good cup of coffee, a cheese scone and slice of cake after a short walk to the nearby Roman fort. There’s also a shop area with a small but good quality collection of foodstuffs.

My first visit but not the last I’m sure! Lovely coffee and delicious fruit scone with cream and jam today - nice welcome and friendly service. We enjoyed a relaxed, unhurried time. Thank you.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay in our campervans in the car park for £5 per night. Lovely warm welcome, brilliant breakfast, dog friendly and toilets available 24/7 on request. Highly recommended and we'll definitely be visiting again.

First visit here will probably return when next walking in the area excellent scones good earl grey tea. Pleasant staff with a can do attitude.

Fancied a run out over Hartside due to the very pleasant weather for New Year’s Eve. Obviously the cafe at the summit hasn’t been open for quite a while and it’s good to have a stop along the way. What a tremendous little cafe at Nook Farm. We called in and had the Centurion breakfast which was very tasty. It was reasonably busy and the staff were very friendly. I can imagine in the summer it will be pretty manic on a sunny weekend with the two wheelers. Well worth a visit.

So happy to discover The Nook Coffee Shop and especially their extensive Gluten Free menu. The welcome was very friendly and the food delicious. Thank you do much!!

Called for breakfast on a cold Monday morning. Two lovely ladies serving home cooked quality food. Some of the best black pudding I've had and proper butcher's sausages/bacon. Only a handful of people in but lots of picnic tables outside for slightly warmer times. Beautiful views even on a wet November morning. Some lovely looking homemade cakes in cabinet and small selection of food stuffs/crafts for sale.

Have been eating here for a number of years, which goes to show how much we like the place, staff, food and experience - need I say more. New menu has just been introduced and what we tasted has proved that it's all good. Great place for meeting up with friends and/or bikers, walkers and we mustn't forget the Roman fort for a little bit of history.

Stopped for a coffee after a ride out. Very nice place with plenty of space for parking and clean toliet facilities. Food looked very nice and will definitely be sampling the menu on the next visit.
