This is a brilliant place. Don't be put off because it's in the golf club. We were on a trip round the Northumberland 250 on motorbikes, we called in for a coffee and lunch and it's brilliant. What a lovely bunch the staff are. Reasonable prices and the food is lovely. Try the home cooked ham sandwiches. We'll definitely make this a regular stop whist in the area. 🙂

We were staying in the area and decided to go to Carriages Tea room at the golf club for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by Mark who made us welcome straight away, as did all the staff. The beef Sunday lunch was great and we added on a dessert for just an extra £4, a bargain. I had rice pudding which was amazing, proper home made rice pudding where the rice and the cream are separate and with a skin on. My wife had a massive slab of sticky toffee pudding which she said was delicious. Mark was a great host, some of the remarks and quips he came out with was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing at one point. Definitely will be back if we in the area again.

After a chance meeting with Mark & his 3 gorgeous westies at Keilder, my sisters & I stopped as recommended, at the golf club tea-room on our way back home to Teesside. What a lovely place! Christine particularly made us all feel very welcome & we each enjoyed the most delicious, freshly made cheese scones, washed down by a lovely hot coffee. Duggie our golden retriever wasn't left out with his biscuit treat. Thank-you for having us, we will certainly return when next in the area. Wishing you all the best for the future.

Had afternoon tea with my two sisters today as Carriages, it was amazing. The food was brilliant, a selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiches, pasties all made by the super friendly chef were delicious with pastry so light it melted in your mouth. Followed by a delicious selection of truly mouthwatering sweet treats of brownies rich with yummy chocolate, beautiful fresh fruit and custard tart, meringues so light and fluffy with strawberries and blueberries, light and fluffy cup cakes with fresh raspberries. Clotted cream and homemade jam scones light as air. Topped with lovely scenery and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff could not have been nicer and we only realised when we left that they had stayed well past the closing time for us. I would definitely recommend a visit to sample the wonderful afternoon tea or varied menu in a beautiful relaxing venue. We will all have good memories of the day.

On holiday in the lovely little town of Bellingham and looking for somewhere special for Afternoon Tea. Well we certainly hit the Jackpot 😀. Located within the very pleasant surroundings of Bellingham Golf Club with wonderful views and as it happens wonderful wildlife.(wild deer) The Afternoon tea was spectacular. We had the Celebration version. All wonderful, fresh and homemade. Couldn’t eat it all but were provided with a take away box. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. All in all a special afternoon which we will remember. Thank you👍

Carvery style service which was excellent. Beautifully cooked beef and pork plenty of vegetables. Choice of small medium or large portions. I had medium which was two generous slices of meat which was more than ample for a normal appetite. There is a good selection of desserts. As a bonus there are great views to look at whilst eating.. I have had more expensive Sunday lunches around other places and they have been far inferior to that provided by Carriages which is great value for money.

Visited today, 4 adults, 2 well over 80. The selection offered of 3 different size meals is fantastic. The food was delicious, piping hot & the best Sunday lunch we have had for a long time. The 1 slice option was more than enough for the over 80's. The 2 slice option was more than enough for the others. Desserts were very generous & delicious too. We will be back soon & will spread the word. Although it is in Bellingham Golf Club, restaurant is open to non members. Sunday lunch & afternoon tea needs to be booked, we perused the daily menu & lots of choice.

Unfortunately, like many cafes and eateries around the Borders, it is not dog friendly. We live in the Lake District where Pub and Cafe establishments are very welcoming of dogs. So all you dog owners out there might want to think about spending your money in a different area of the UK when planning your next hol.

Fantastic find in the Northumbrian hills. Great cafe/tea room in two ex-British Rail carriages situated alongside the old platform and station building at Bellingham Tynedale. The food and drinks were excellent as was the service and the surroundings, including some interesting info about, and photographs of, the old railways that once could be found in the area. All in all, a most enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend a visit.

Previous reviews said this cafe was dog friendly but we had to sit outside with our well behaved dog on a cold rainy October afternoon. Despite overhead roofing, This rather spoilt the experience as we were very cold and poor dog had to sit on rough stones. Food was pretty good but not special. Staff were friendly. It’s quaint inside, I think, but there are nicer places in Bellingham ( which were full).

A lovely tea room largely set inside an old railway carriage on part of a (now discontinued) branch line. The cream teas are excellent and come with generous servings of cream and jam. Hot, cold and alcoholic drinks are available. A selection of hot food caters for those wanting a meal. The carriages themselves are well set out and have an interesting section on the railway’s history and local interest. Recommended if you’re in the area.

Fantastic setting on a beautiful day for a delicious lunch. I have train mad boys so it suited them too. We had panini's and toasties as the afternoon tea doesn't start serving until after 2pm. Our boys had the kids lunch bags (sandwich, handmade crisps, chocolate crispy cake, apple and a juice box) my husband then indulged in a lemon meringue pie, which was very tasty! We sat outside at one of about 15 outside tables, but there is seating inside the carriages too...just a bit too warm for us today! Well worth a visit when in Bellingham. Oh just to say, we did pre-book, but you can just walk in too.

Ideal for a cuppa and a roll after an early walk to Hareshaw Linn. Sat outside in dappled sun enjoying the birdsong all around. Staff welcoming and all precautions maintained, contact details taken. Hope I get a chance to try again later in the day. EDIT, went back with friends next day and we all enjoyed lunch. Booked 2 tables for 1 p.m. and arrived promptly. Not acknowledged until 10 minutes later where we were given a seat. Took our orders about 1.30. Finally got our meal at 2.15! The place was only quarter full, so it was an absolutely abysmal service. We complained that we had waited 1 hour 15 minutes for food, they then had the temerity to bring the order ticket out to point out that we only had to wait 55 minutes, oh, and no apology either. The staff and management really need to look at customer relations if they want to have repeat visits. We were all very disappointed.

Normally we have a lovely time at Pier Red and the food is delicious. Today we went to this beau venue and I arrived before my husband - ordered a bottle of Prosecco which we do whenever we visit. The table to the side of us had some food delivered to their table. We went to order and were informed only cakes available. We were not informed on arrival that food would be stopped at a certain time nor any notice on the door. If we had of known no food then we would have gone elsewhere and spent our money.. I understand that Joanne you had a meeting on site but you need to respect your customers too. Diane
