Coffee on a Sunday morning. Best coffee in Northumberland. Well done for not skimping on the quality of the coffee.

Nice food and friendly people but rather expensive.

Had a great meal. I ordered a Mac & cheese dish that came with a nice fresh salad.. Very hot, tasty and plenty to fill me up. Love this place!

Had such a lovely dinner & dessert here after a long, rainy drive. Well worth the price! The fish was divine. Thanks again to Anna and Lily for the excellent service - so friendly and welcoming. Will be back again for sure! :)

Super friendly welcome, nice choice of brunch menu - not every day you can have a Craster kipper followed by homemade cakes - the perfect reward for a brisk walk on Alnmouth beach...

This has to be one of the best meals I have ever had. Save your money, don’t bother with the other pubs in the Village this has to be one of the best places to eat in the North East.

The finest crab sandwiches I’ve ever had and delicious home made soups and cakes. Reasonably price for the quality you get and always friendly and efficient service.

Enjoyed scones, cake and drinks in the day time but then this place transforms into a candle lit bistro in the evening with an interesting menu supplemented by seafood specials. Excellent food, wine and service. Tables are a bit tight but a lovely meal. Recommend booking well ahead as they had the full sign out every afternoon mid week in September.

Had a great meal here, food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic. The owners were very welcoming, happy to have a quick chat, even when they are super busy, would definitely go back. Being a vegetarian is always slightly difficult but they catered for me too, we all said how great it was. Sorry the photo of desert was when it was finished, it was just too good and forgot to take a photo! 😋

What a find in a seaside village. Both times weather not great but we had good home cooked food.Salmon with scrambled egg on muffins.

We had bacon and grilled tomato ciabatta, one with cream cheese for lunch. Delicious! It came with a lovely salad too. Coffee was great too. Busy!

Absolute perfection from start to finish. The team are all individually personable, very professional and refreshingly accommodating. A great selection of high quality drinks (the local ales are the best!) and the food... my goodness. Delicious and beautifully presented. The soup was full of flavour, the lamb was perfectly cooked and the chocolate mousse was light and fluffy. Even the bread was a treat. Fantastic atmosphere in a beautifully presented restaurant. Quite happily one of my new favourite eateries in the UK. Compliments and gratitude to the whole team!

We have been for lunch on several occasions, but this was the first time for an evening meal. We hadn’t confirmed the table and the restaurant was full. The owners went above and beyond to get us a table within 30 minutes. We went for a drink at the pub next door and they came to get us when the table was ready. The food was exceptional and the service even better! This was our first night out child free and it was rescued thanks to Anna and Alistair! Cannot recommend enough.

Busy night but service and food great

First visit to this restaurant. Soups and puddings were all delicious, as was the special salmon main. I had the vegetarian sage and onion tart for a main, and thought (or maybe hoped) that the tart would be a bit bigger than it was. The tart included some cheese, which created a little bit of sauce, but the overall dish, partnered with honey and mustard roast veg, was a bit dry. Perhaps because I know the restaurant is highly thought of, and is in the higher price bracket for the area, I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant is small, very popular and the tables are very close together. There's a nice chatter to it, but you probably wouldn't want to be sat too close to someone with a loud voice!

A Very friendly relaxing place, food is done well, and the teapot's with their tea cosy are a lovely touch, their cakes are yummy and freshly made.

An excellent lunch , honey butternut squash and lentil soup with lovely fresh bread and proper butter. Cakes a must!

Well I ordered coffee, wasn't even hot, service was bad as I waited half an hour for food, (chicken pieces and bacon salad, seafood platter, all cold),which wouldn't have took long as people were being served with the same meal who were in after us.no sanitisation was provided, tables too close together, I actually heard the waitress say "have we ate yet",which would probably mean our order was not placed.

Lovely brunch. Home made tomato soup was delicious. Very friendly staff too.

Excellent spot for a snack. We had two scones with jam and cream, coffee and a hot (and it was hot) chocolate. Reasonable prices, helpful staff, and conveniently located. The evening menu also looks pretty good, unfortunately we are not in the area for long enough to sample this, but hopefully we will be back at some point.

Came here with family for a significant birthday dinner. The menu is simple with exciting options. Everything we ordered came out really well cooked and beautifully presented. The owners were really very friendly and accommodating to all the diners. A great place to go for a special meal. One note is that the village is small and operates a one way so parking can be tricky, leave a bit of extra time to walk from wherever you’ve parked.

We went to Bistro 23 for lunch today and would thoroughly recommend it. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent - so fresh and well presented. The lunch menu is also very reasonably priced.

A lovely quaint little eating establishment set on the one way system which is opposite the church. Parking is limited so its first come, first served. Lovely fresh home made cakes, scones and sandwiches and toasties available. Very friendly staff with a very clean environment and the toilets are well maintained. The decor is cosy and it's very popular and is open till 4pm. Well worth a visit if you are in the area, would definitely call again.

Lovely evening at Bistro 23 ... as always. Complimentary bread to start. We had the Salmon and the Scallops to start. Then the fish and the duck to follow, washed down by a bottle of the Gavi white wine. Too full for a dessert. £101 in total for two. Normally say £80 with the house wine. Delightful, friendly service from Anna and Alistair. Cosy, old fashioned interior, great atmosphere, fairly full, mainly locals relaxing after running the Alnmouth Arts Festival. Always book well in advance. We were lucky to get a cancellation two weeks in advance. Note that the same business runs a cafe in the premises during the day so you can call them outside of Bistro's evening hours to book.

Linda makes the best mocha in northumbria and me and my wife had a lovely breakfast,outstanding.

Absolutely delectable food. Staff very friendly. However the door was too small for me and my friends we could barely fit and the ice cream was too cold therefore the spoon was bent. Also my friend was verbally threatened by an old age pensioner stating she would murder him. Overall good experience!

Only had a one half of the door open so many customers had to squeeze inside. The menu was boring. But, when you're hungry and nothing else is open, you've no choice.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch today, on a cold and windy day, after walking from Alnwick. I had macaroni cheese and hubby had a Brie, cranberry and bacon panini, each served with a small salad of greens, cucumber, tomato and red onion. I had a fruit scone with jam and whipped cream for my sweet while hubby had apple crumble with ice cream. Arriving at 11 meant no waiting. Service was excellent and food delicious.

Lovely waitresswho looked after us so well. Sadly, she was so busy that there was a mix up over our cake order. She got shouted at be the owner. Not a nice thing to do in semi public. It wasn't her fault and she was working so hard. That said, we certainly will return.

We went following recommendation and not disappointed. Nice setting, attentive and friendly staff with superb food. We had beef & fish as main & well presented & lovely food. We popped into Bistro 23 for a wee lunch and it was excellent!! I had the macaroni cheese with bacon, which was top notch and piping hot. C had the mushrooms on sourdough where were also great. Both dishes were accompanied with a tasty side salad. The staff were friendly and efficient. All in all, a fantastic lunch at a great price. We would highly recommend Bistro 23

We called in for a coffee and cake. My husband had the sticky toffee cake which he said was delicious, I had a scone with jam and butter. My flat white was just how I like it, skinny and decaf, not many coffee places can do skinny so I was very happy. Staff were happy in their work and quick to take order and return with order. Along corridor to toilets there is a large selection of paintings by a local artist of local attractions/scenery. We bought one of these paintings which are reasonably priced and lovely. Painting was bubble wrapped for us to transport safety home. All in all a lovely experience. Thanks

Popped in for a late lunch and it was spot on. Crab sandwich packed with meat and kipper with gluten free bread. Lovely gf lemon drizzle and unreal carrot cake. We will be back

Just returned from eating here tonight after we were lucky enough to get a cancellation as it was fully booked for the nights we're here. Can see why that is - we've just had the best meal we've had in a long time and we eat out alot. The restaurant is beautifully decorated simple but v stylish but unpretentious and the menu is fantastic with mostly locally sourced dishes with a twist and beautifully presented and taste just divine - starters- great / the lamb and fish & veg we had for mains were perfectly cooked and delicious/the desserts of chocolate torte and lemon posset just out of this world just melted in the mouth - this restaurant is on a par with the Michelin starred restaurants where we come from in North Yorkshire and they deserve such an accolade. The owners and the chef/staff should give themselves a massive pat on the back for providing such excellent high quality food and service - very well recommended - hopefully they can keep up such high standards

My wife and I pre booked Saturday night and were treated to a 3 course delight of the most amazing food. The service and charm of this lovely place is first class.

Visited here midweek with my partner and we were not disappointed! It felt a very safe place to be during these strange times with tables well spread out and sanitising stations. As for the food, both our main courses were delicious and cooked perfectly and we couldn’t resist a dessert! The service matched the food and we felt very relaxed. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend a visit! Cannot fault it

We were looking for places to eat during our recent short break in Alnwick and after much research decided to book Bistro 23 and are so glad we did. It is a small restaurant at the heart of this lovely village and has a wonderful ambiance painstakingly created by its owners Alistair and Anna who make a superb front of house team.As foodies we have dined at many good restaurants and Bistro 23 would undoubtedly be in the top 3. The main fish courses of Hake and Monkfish we enjoyed on our first visit were cooked to perfection as were the fresh vegetables. The quality of the food was backed up by the equally excellent service. The meals on our second visit 2 days later were equally impressive.Bistro 23 will certainly be top of the agenda on our next trip up North!

Would highly recommend...another lovely meal at our favourite Northumberland restaurant..great food (all locally sourced), great service from a very friendly couple in a covid safe and relaxed environment. Especially loved the roast monkfish with crab & tomato crust, with a mussel , cream & white wine sauce & potatoes...mmmm, compliments to the chef ‍ Thanks Anna and Alistair, hopefully see you again soon.

Went for dinner during October. Incredibly impressed with the Covid arrangements and tables spaced out well. Alastair and Anna are fabulous hosts. Always aware when tables need attention and the my deal with a busy service with warmth and skill. The food was excellent. I had a really well presented and tasty charcuterie board then monkfish main. Excellent. This is the most perfect bistro in a perfect location.
