We had a lovely lunch stop here during day 3 of our Sandstone Way cycle ride. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Has a great locked room to safely store your bike while you eat. Highly recommended.

We were staying at the hotel and so had our dinner here in the evening. I think it is only at present open to hotel guests which is why tripadvisor thinks it is currently closed? Really nice dining room. Very grand. Great menu. I had the steak and chips which were delicious. We were looked after well by the staff. Good wines. In all an excellent meal.

A wonderful choice of breakfast food with swift and friendly service. Would highly recommend. The cakes looked pretty good too but we were too full of breakfast buns to fit them in. We'll be back....

An unexpected treat on our trip to the Scottish borders ! Stopped for a coffee stop, but couldn't resist the home-made sausage rolls and Scotch eggs. The coffee was excellent too. The experience was so exceptional that we had to visit on the journey back south too ! Exceptional !!!

Enjoyed another family meal here recently - as always the food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented with very generous portions. The restaurant is cosy in beautiful surroundings with excellent waitress service from both restaurant and bar staff, all. Wry friendly and well informed. Thank you all, we will definitely be back.

What a great 2 night stay we had. Set in a wooded area with great views. The rooms are clean and certainly adequate. Paul the host is remarkable. He is so friendly and couldn't do enough for my partner and I top service throughout our stay. Fantastic

Food below average, customer service a mixture of good and bad. I ordered a breakfast with orange juice and on seeing the low quality kids' carton of orange juice with a straw, I rejected it. It had printed on the side "orange juice drink" which is usually on artificial orange juice cartons made with cheap flavouring and colouring. The waiter took it away, and then I was surprised to find the cafe manager, a strange looking woman with orange skin and purple hair, somewhat like one of Roald Dahl's Oompa-loompas standing over me and shouting at me that the content of the carton was "fresh orange". I was completely taken aback. I'd rejected it and didn't expect overbearing and threatening behaviour from one of the locals. As it turned out, the carton was a carton of orange juice, that is, squeezed orange juice made from concentrate. But I still didn't want it. It wasn't fresh, and it was cheap and nasty looking. She didn't seem to understand that it having been in a carton for weeks did not make it "fresh orange". Instead, she seemed to think I wanted orange squash when I told her I wanted real orange juice, straight from an orange. She just went on and on at me. It's a minor thing, a misunderstanding of terminology, but I was not feeling well, and she basically bullied me into accepting it. The English breakfast when it came was dreadful. I had asked for the bacon to be crispy. Instead, it was hard and cardboard-like. Everything was just low quality - the bread - everything - which the juice carton should have told me. I'll never go again. I didn't know the idea was to replicate the experience of the 1970s, when train food had a reputation for being awful and service worse, but you live and learn.

Great home-made food. Highly recommend Yorkshire pudding wrap (I had with chicken), veg and gravy. My husband had Balmoral chicken breast with haggis inside with chips and veg which he thoroughly enjoyed too.

Myself and my husband visted yesterday with our two dogs. Lovely old school house with Falstone history to read about. Delicious cakes and coffee and a nice chat with the owner. Extremely dog friendly with lots of space and the dogs each got a biscuit ☺️👌

Asked for tea, it came in a tiny cup with milk added, when I said we needed it without milk, the young girl seemed really annoyed. Anyhow, 2 teas, one bag of nuts, and a sack of attitude, not worth the £6.50. Shame really as there's nothing else around and this place could be great.

We were served by (the angel) Angela who was entertaining and informative The food was superb. We had Northumberland lamb and lasagna followed by fruit crumble and on the recommendation of a regular bread-and-butter pudding which I’m told was outstanding ( I didn’t get near it!)
