The Boe Rigg Restaurant in Northumberland

We are staying in the adjacent campsite and have eaten here on 2 consecutive evenings. The food has been excellent on both nights . We had the home made Boe burger and tai green chicken curry, on the first night both were delicious and chicken Katsu burger and fish and chips the second night. Very generous helpings and perfectly cooked . The staff are very knowledgeable and attentive . Would 100% recommend.

We were staying just up the road and decided to try here for our evening meal. We sat in the bar area with our two labradors. I had the Boe Burger, which was the nicest burger I've had for a while. My partner had the salt, pepper, and chilli cod, which she said was amazing. Friendly staff. We would definitely visit here again.

We stopped here after completing Scotlands nc500 and decided to eat here. The surrounding are great and the food is superb.All the staff are curteous and very professionable serving and not rushing. the portions are very ample.i would recommend this to anyone and when in area would return

Lovely staff and accommodating chef prepared to make vegan versions of the vegetarian meals. Thai Green Curry was delicious and veg tasted super fresh.

All I can say is wow booked a night camping and didn’t expect a quality restaurant like this food was amazing and the staff very friendly

Really unimpressed to see a Gollywog image on the walls of this restaurant. Made me feel highly uncomfortable and disappointed that they seem to think this is a fun way to show a support for history. NOT acceptable

Chef must be cooking with gold dust and flakes of unicorn meat because I just had possible the best burger of my life, only 2nd to Kennedys in Dublin. Chips were the finest of the chunky chip lineage, menu had good options,, so good and worth every penny. Service was friendly too but I'm too busy thinking about the Boe burger. I love it more than my wife, and nearly as much as the van.

Tempura prawns to start. Wife had lamb dinner and I had beef. All were beautifully cooked and presented. The puddings finished us off just nicely. Couple of lovely ipa’s to wash it down. Recommend if in area or passing.

After our visit in June we returned here in July for another beautiful Sunday lunch. Once again loads of beef,veg and home made Yorkshire puddings. Very relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Well worth a visit of you are in the area.

Father's day Sunday lunch. Fabulous food the beef was amazing! Plenty of everything and loads of gravy and home cooked Yorkshire puddings. Enjoyed by all of our party of 4 so much so we booked in the next day for evening meal which was equally satisfying. Very friendly staff thanks for your hospitality ! Booked last minute for Sunday lunch. They managed to squeeze us in,even though.. it was a busy Father's day. Staff were pleasant and seen to us quickly. The beef was tender and the veg was fresh. Excellent value for our money! Thank you!

We visited this restaurant 12 months ago whilst on holiday in Northumberland and it was fantastic, the service, the food and surroundings were all fabulous. So much so on our return to the North East, we booked again. What a mistake! We were met by a very grumpy member of staff who clearly didn't want to be there. His first comment was - I can't take your order straight away as I've put in a massive order into the kitchen just now! There was one other table occupied in the whole restaurant. His mood did not get any better throughout the evening. Even if you're having a bad day, it doesn't cost anything to be polite and courteous. The food also was just not of the same standard. No idea if the chef was off that evening but we will certainly not be returning.

We were staying on the onsite campsite, so took advantage of the restaurant. We were glad we did, so the food was super. Good value and very tasty. I'd highly recommend it.

Just had an excellent meal all prepared fresh and in a lovely surrounding with perfect warm and friendly staff - excellent service from Linda and others. Brilliant food, great beer or wine and just a very relaxing atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend this place for a lovely night and the food was first class. Burger was the best and Thai food exquisite. Will definitely be back again.

We came to the Boe Rigg twice during our stay in the area. Both times the food was really excellent. On our first visit in particular the staff were lovely but also good the second time too. We were accommodated at very short notice on our first trip, having been let down by another eatery near by. Very welcoming to dogs, lovely views and pleasant customers. The ladies loo is about to be refurbished which is a good job as they’re not great (clean but very basic and a bit damp). We would definitely return. Good for vegetarians and fish lovers.

A group of us were staying at the boe rigg campsite and the amenities were okay and the bar was nice. We came back from our walk and bought some drinks at the bar and we’re asked to pre order our food for the evening, so we diss When we went to the restaurant later on for food someone in our group asked for a side of chips to the waiter, who immediately told us that we should have pre ordered it and the kitchen is busy. (There were three wait staff and our large table and around 5 other small tables). We could clearly see that the waiter went and discussed what had happened with another colleague in the restaurant and in our direct line of sight. I might understand if we had asked to change any of the set meals, but asking for one side of chips extra seemed a very disproportionate reaction to the situation. Another waiter then came over and said “well you should have pre-ordered them, but I‘ll see what I can do” The main meals were brought out shortly afterwards alongside the extra chips. Some drinks were also brought out and quite literally slammed down on the table. We weren’t asked if we wanted any condiments, so a member of the party asked, to which no response was given, and the condiments were equally slammed down on the table. Not a single member of staff came over to check how our meals were and if we needed anything else. I am upset as I have actually dined at this restaurant before and recommended we go there as a group, only to be treated so rudely by the staff. The food itself was okay and overpriced, the burgers were dry but some of the other options were quite nice. I do also feel that we were a different demographic to the other diners being a larger group of young professionals. We did not behave in any way rude or disrespectfully but we do feel that the staff took the view that we were an inconvenience and the other diners were looked after in a way that we were not.

We ate at The Boe Rigg restaurant during our recent stay near to the campsite. The food here is amazing! Great value, big portions, fabulous choice (even for vegetarians) and excellent quality. So good, that we ate here every night of our stay. Lovely, helpful staff, and dog friendly. Great views over the countryside too!

We came for a quick break to the campsite in our campervan and thought we would try the restaurant on the site rather than cook. What an excellent idea that turned out to be. The Staff were amazing, really friendly and nothing at all was a problem. The atmosphere is really nice and everything was spotlessly clean. Of course i ate way too much but somehow still managed to squeeze in Sticky Toffee Pudding :). We finished off with a drink chilling on the sofas in the adjoining bar. We will 100% come back

Just came back from a weekend away at this magical little find. Stayed in the Moho, for the weekend. Saturday night we decided to dine in the restaurant, instead of having to cook in camper. We decide not to have a started (just as well really), as the portions are huge. Even the hubby was stuffed and he loves his grub. I wish I had took a photos of the dishes, but we dived in straight away. They were amazing. Good quality, cooked fresh and totally delicious. While waiting for the food, we all decided on what we would have for dessert, as the selection was enticing. However, it wasn't to be as we were defeated by the mains. Would definitely recommend paying a visit. The staff are also up to par and nothing is a problem. Super friendly!!

Cafe and restaurant, good selection including vegetarian. Tasty, varied and a well stocked bar too. Well worth a visit. Try the tomato soup cake!

Called in on a Sunday when just passing by. Sunday lunch was amazing, the best vegan Sunday dinner I've had anywhere. Also do all meat options and veggie. Staff were lovely and friendly and the location is beautiful.

Ooo..just had my first takeaway meal and it was delivered hot and super tasty !! Beautiful white cod and the best ever chips...came with peas tartre sauce,side of salad and a generous portion too..yum ! Deffo will order again..AND..worth every penny..thank you 😊

Excellent Sunday Dinner delivered to our door. My husband had Roast Beef and I had Nut Roast both were delicious and served with a variety of different vegetables and roasties, with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. Can’t fault the Boe Rigg on their service and the quality of their food.

We had a takeaway from the Boe Rig whilst on holiday over half term. We are a family with special dietary requirements and our meal was delicious. 2 members had burgers, one had the salt and pepper chicken and one had a gluten free Thai green chicken curry. Definitely recommend

Wonderful home delivery of fish and chips, fresh hot and restaurant quality, supplied with a lovely side salad and homemade tartar sauce and garden peas. Wonderful experience from start to finish under the current conditions. Social distancing respected. Could not be more pleased to recommend the service here.

We’ve stayed and ate at the Boe Rigg many times now and we’re never ever disappointed. We’ve never had a bad meal or a bad stay. The food is incredible and everything we’ve tried has exceeded expectations. The campsite is clean and very well maintained. The communal showers and toilets are very well managed and WARM! Perfect for that early shower on a crisp morning! We look forward to every visit and aren’t even home before we’re planning the next trip! See you again soon!

We had seen the menu online and it looked delicious, so we booked a meal here. However, we were only offered a takeaway menu - standard pub food. When the food came, it wasn't hot (I appreciate we were sitting outside!). Not a good experience, perhaps Tuesday is chef's night off?

We were staying nearby for a couple of nights and wanted somewhere to eat on the Friday night. Most places either closed at 5 or had their restaurants closed due to Covid. Came across this place during an online search. I phoned to see if we could actually “sit in” rather than just get a takeaway. They were super helpful and took our booking. They did tell us that they were only Using the takeaway menu at present but that proved more than adequate. A really good choice. I ordered the Boe burger - lord - what a plateful. I literally couldn’t eat it all. Very well cooked and nicely presented. My husband had the spicy chicken burger. Again we’ll cooked and presented. The food order was taken quickly and arrived just as quickly. They serve quite a big campsite and I heard orders being taken for breakfast. Their adherence to Covid regulations was excellent. Our details were taken immediately and the table was re-sanitised before we sat down. We had two (huge) main courses and two drinks and the bill came to around £23. Very good value. Very impressed with this set up. Lovely staff and spacious, clean premises.

Called in for dinner after reading a few good reviews, but we were all a bit disappointed. The menu was very limited and the food not that great! Son said his burger was horrible and my dish was all wrong! The mushrooms to start were lovely though ! Husband really liked his fish though so a bit mixed! Staff were a bit distant and not very friendly..

We'd heard good things about The Boe Rigg before but had never given it a go until last week. We definitely weren't disappointed! The customer service was without fault and the food was perfect too. Still piping hot when we tucked in, generous portions and a little treat thrown in. To top it all off it was delivered straight to our door which is quite a luxury in Bellingham! Lovely consistent quality food and friendly service to eat in but due to covid the takeaway option has been a great Saturday night treat too The dessert was a lovely extra freebie and the bag of sweets even better a great surprise.. liquorice allsorts our favourites thank you

We can't get to the restaurant at the moment because of restrictions due to Covid-19, so the restaurant has come to us instead. Fresh, delicious food delivered to your door, seven days a week. Can't do much better than that!

These are great, the food is delicious, exactly the same as when eaten in the restaurant, it's also very good value. the delivery is prompt and the food arrives hot, and travels extremely well. We will definitely order again.

We have been receiving takeaway meals delivered to our house from Boe Rigg. Excellent choice of meals and well presented. We can definitely recommend Boe Rigg and thank them for providing the service at this difficult time.

So, during lockdown for covid 19, this restaurant has been doing the community a fabulous service of takeaways, with free delivery, WOW!!!! Whats even better is the piping hot food that is delicious, every bit as good as in the restaurant, well done to Linda and Neil and the team, round of applause from us xxx

Driven past many times and decided to drop in for a coffee. Saw the food coming out of the kitchen and had to book for the following day. We certainly weren’t disappointed, friendly staff and fantastic food. I will definitely go back.

Huge portions and great food. only down side I could find was beef a tiny bit tough, but frankly that's being picky. Was great food and great price. Glad we chose this place.

We very recently stayed on the campsite for 3 nights . We had breakfast the first morning and didn’t eat anywhere else for the whole of our stay , the food was that good ! The service was warm and friendly , they couldn’t do enough for you. The attention to detail on all our meals was outstanding, you could definitely tell the chef cared about what he was serving with every meal we had. It is also very reasonably priced for the standard of food. This place deserves to do well not only as a restaurant but as a camping experience as well . Thanks Boe Rigg, we’ll definitely be back !

We went a year ago and it was great, I went back with the kids in the summer and I was disappointed by the quality of the food.

Myself and the family visited here recently and ventured back the next day as food was good. Good choices for kids and adults. Would defo reccomend.

We arrived very late for lunch (4pm), but they did a very good job of accommodating 4 adults and 2kids with a great Sunday lunch. We had different roasts; chicken, lamb pork. All good. A couple a pudding, pie and sticky toffee. Only one fault. The WiFi is the Cloud which is a faff with sign up, passwords, etc. Why can they not just provide their own WiFi?

Dropped into the restaurant late afternoon after a long walk. Brilliant service, excellent and I mean excellent food. Really recommend this place to eat. Friendly staff, was really nice as we had been to a few other places around Kielder who made the atmosphere quite unwelcoming.

Lovely meal out tonight at Boe Rigg, 10th Sept, excellent cod and chips and a wonderful sea food risotto.....well worth a visit.

Don't let the campsite put you off. It's very nice inside. Some lovely choices on the menu. We just went with fish & chips served very nice the homemade coleslaw and sauce delicious. Very reasonably priced. Just wish we there another night to try the seafood risotto.

We stayed for 2 days at the Boerigg in Kielder. We were made so welcome from the minute we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were travelling past at lunch time and decided to stop. So pleased we did. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoors but with a great view of the campsite and grounds. We all ordered the Boe Burger. Two homemade burgers,bacon, two big(lovely) onion rings, cheese and red onion chutney. Served with chunky homemade chips, coleslaw and a great side salad with dressing. Great value for the impressive meal we had. You can tell an experienced chef is in charge and takes pride in serving a well presented meal and sourcing the best ingredients. Well done.

We stayed in the Bunkhouse at Boe Rigg for the night while on a tour of the North of England. We used it as a base to explore Kielder Forest. The room was great and we had the most incredible meal while there. The owner is a trained chef and you could tell - creative menu and stunning flavours. We didn't expect such a gourmet meal at a campsite. Amazing - we'd definitely go back if in the area.

Stopped here on way back to Kielder. Very good value considering quality of food. My son had seafood risotto which he loved. I had roast beef and gravy sandwich which was great. Daughter's veggie burger was lovely and it had real chips, not the frozen variety you get in too many places these days. Friendly staff too. Recommended.

Stopped here today to eat lunch with two adults and 2 kids! The food was delicious, chips home cooked and fresh and waitress nicely attentive! Was not too busy so we could get seated and was warm when outside was freezing! Very good pricing - kids meal £3.99 and everything fresh and home cooked!

My wife and I were privileged to have dinner here for Valentines day. Don't ever believe this venue is simply a cafe for a campsiteit is far from that. The meal was excellent beautifully cooked however my wife disliked her pudding she LOVED it.

Amazing Sunday lunch and everyone so friendly. Great views. We had a 2 year old and there was toys she could play with. Lovely bar too. Can’t wait to stay at the campsite

We visited this restaurant whilst on a two week holiday in the area , it was supposed to be a treat . My Ham hock soup had a hair or bristle in it , the dumpling was chewy and the bread was rock hard . I did not complain and hoped for a better main meal , the gammon was cooked on an already burnt griddle giving it a grey appearance the pineapple just tasted burnt , the side salad was slimey with age and the twice cooked chips were certainly not twice cooked ! It was inedible . It seems at low season that they were un prepared and rushed ! Very disappointing , felt very uncomfortable complaining as did the young man receiving the complaint . Ruined what should have been a lovely day with a quality meal .

Came to Boe Rigg for lunch and really enjoyed. Friendly staff, good food and nice location. Would recommend to anyone wanting to eat out in the area.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, I had sea bass with steamed veg, mango and chilli sauce, my other half had gammon, beautifully cooked food, reasonably priced. We are both looking forward to trying the Sunday lunch .

Visited the Boe Rigg on the final day of a mini break and we weren't disappointed. Very friendly owner and most excellent food. They even catered for a starter that I requested that wasn't on the menu. Drinks were very reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend.

sunday lunch here was lovely. we had the quad meat roast and it was lovely. kind friendly staff and excellent food. The views accross the northumbrian countryside is lovely

Went here for our evening meal, at first it seemed ok. The waiter came out, she was so negative and sounded very depressing - understandable people can have a bad day and feel bad, but it made us feel like she didn't want to be serving us. When the food came, it looked nice but tasted awful. The chicken was burnt, the mash potatoes were horrible and lumpy. In our other dish, the noodles tasted bitter and bad. We were unsure whether this was poorly made because the staff were miserable, or personal opinion. We did have to leave all of our food as we couldn't stomach it. When another man came to take our food away, he saw we had a full plate, and asked us if we enjoyed it. He asked, we were honest, and said no. Before this, he had a smile on his face, afterwards, he was passive and sarky. Not everyone is going to like the food, it is very unprofessional to sulk and make us feel bad for not enjoying it. This made us feel extremely awkward and bad. It is us that had no food even though we paid over £30 for it. I would NOT recommend going here unless you want to walk out feeling terrible.

Had a great meal here in the evening. It was quiet, nicely lit, well laid out, cosy. The staff were great. The menu choice was really good and the food we had was delicious. The salt and pepper chicken was amazing! The prices were astonishingly low and the portions were a good size so it was great value for money. The only thing that let it down was lipstick on the glass I was given. But never mind

Stopped on the campsite for a few nights and tried the restaurant. I must say the Boe burger was top draw, taste and filling. We then decided to have the treacle sponge for dessert - it was fantastic (potential a little more custard would have made it 10 out 10). Overall a great meal - with great service. Big recommendation

We booked in for a family meal here and were not disappointed. Neat little bistro based on the Boe Rigg campsite. It has a bar attached. Food was excellent menu is not too big but has a good choice, a Children’s menu is available. We really enjoyed the food. The Thai green curry was very tasty withe fresh vegetables...the children’s burger was homemade and so tasty. Came back the next day to find it was all booked up...not surprised!
