We visited for lunch en route to Kielder and opted for the lunchtime special. Excellent selection of starters, mains and desserts, something for everyone’s taste. My partner and son were slightly disappointed with their food as the description on the menu stated that it had gammon and also duck eggs but when it arrived it was cold ham and the eggs were not duck eggs. My steak and ale pie was delicious though, and son’s partner really enjoyed the fish and chips. The desserts were fantastic! Chocolate mousse with honeycomb for the guys which they really loved. Dairy-free ice cream for son’s partner and I had the mixed berry cheese cake with some double cream. That was absolutely fantastic so much so that I am tempted to ask for a whole one to take home next time we visit, which I hope will be very soon. The pub itself is very homely, with a wood burning stove and I noticed a bookcase including kids’ books etc. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, very typical of local Northumbrian hospitality. We went on a sunny(-ish!) day and the view was lovely across from the pub. It was very handy for a lunch stop on our way up to Kielder as it’s on the main route from Otterburn up to the border (Carter Bar). Thank you very much, see you soon.

Our group of 24 had an excellent meal served with a smile. We had pre ordered our food which came all together which is quite a feat for a large group. The food was delicious with ample choice for all palettes. We were served in the separate room which we had to ourselves, perfect. I would highly recommend this venue.

A very welcoming and friendly country pub that seems to cater for everyone. Separate vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menus, accessible for all and dog friendly. The food was very tasty and huge portions. A true gem that is worth a visit.

The staff and managers were absolutely delightful and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms are lovely and spotless and clean. Breakfast is lovely and plentiful with lots of choice. Dinner is delicious with very generous portions and again, delightful staff. Our daughter was leaving very early one morning so they offered to make a breakfast tray for her. Nothing is too much trouble and the ladies who clean are wonderful. We fully recommend this little pub and accommodation.

Very average food and service for the price (£25 for two courses). Despite the restaurant not being busy the food took over an hour to arrive. There were just a couple of young people front of house, they seemed to be doing everything, the bar, taking orders, bringing out meals in the restaurant. They never came back to check that everything was okay, whether we needed condiments etc. The food itself was mixed depending on what you ordered. The steal pie was definitely not home made and was very average (at best) with a very small portion of chips and veg. The fish and chips were okay, obviously frozen but tasty and decent portions. Puddings were better, good quality and portions (but the crumble was quite poor). Overall, okay , all edible, but not really good value for money.

We booked for a birthday meal intending and expecting to eat in the restaurant. However, there was a wedding do on and when we arrived we were placed in the not very salubrious bar. We ordered our meals from a very decent range of choices but the starter took over 40 mins to arrive because they were catering to the wedding group at the same time. Had they warned us in advance we could have our own judgement as to whether we were willing to accept this situation but we were not appraised of the situation at any time. A real shame because the food choice was good and the food itself was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful but ...............

Very friendly service with a nice range of options on the menu for pub food and drinks behind the bar too. We ordered a variety of meals which we were all very happy with, particularly the veggie curry. Took it down to a 3 star rating purely on timings - it took 45 minutes for our starter to get served, which was just nachos. Mains came soon after but it was way too long, on what seemed to be a fairly quiet night.

There are a dearth of places on the A696 and A68 as you make your way to the Scottish Border, but we are very glad we decided to stop at the Redesdale Arms. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in the door and decided to have lunch outside given the lovely warm weather. Our drinks order came out quickly and our food order was taken by the very friendly staff. We waited a while for the food to arrive but that was no problem, and when it did, it was superb. The fish pie was moist and full of fish and potatoes and peas. All in all a great experience. We skipped dessert as we needed to get on our way, but this is a lovely place to stop and eat and most probably a great place to stay for a while. It deserves as much custom as it can get.

You feel really welcomed. we spent a cosy Saturday night here and had a lovely evening meal. I had the Ploughman's and my husband had steak and ale and both were top class. Our dog was made to feel welcome too. The new owners have really gone the extra mile with this hotel and they were lovely. Visited for the third time in recent months whilst staying locally. Had a very positive first couple of visits and this one was largely as successful. Food good, great gluten free options for our daughter. Service from young ladies was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. That said, whilst we dined the new owner and a colleague sat working on the next table and didn't even acknowledge us let alone be welcoming and managed to take what was clearly a family personal call in the middle of the dining room whilst completing staff rotas. Shame as if that was my business in that rural location I'd be very focused on getting repeat visits and recommendations from my patrons. She didn't look in the slightest bit interest. Disappointing. Great chef and great front of house.

First trip out for us after lockdown was eased had to be to the Redesdale Arms. The bar and hotel have reopened with all necessary safety measures in place for staff and customers alike. Despite these very necessary precautions, the warm welcome and friendly service was, as always, there to greet visitors (and there were plenty over the weekend enjoying the food, drink and banter with Carrol and Mark). The ever-present staff masks failed to hide the broad smiles (a mix of excitement and nerves at being open again) and the reassuring cleaning between guest visits was never intrusive. As enjoyable a visit as ever with super safe service and hospitality delivered with plenty of smiles (under the masks)! Its good to be back.

All 6 of us enjoyed our food which was a combination of burger & chips, steak pie & cheese naps & chips so was just good pub grub at a reasonable price. We had a dog with us which meant sitting in a sort of porch area so we were glad we booked as the bar only area for dogs was very dark & only had little round drinking tables. I therefore wouldn’t recommend eating here if you have a dog & can only sit inside if bad weather. Lovely view on outside tables if weather good.

The food was delicious and although there were no vegan dessert options (to be fair the portions are huge so I couldn't have managed it anyway), the lady working there went out of her way and found me some dark chocolate just so I didn't feel left out :) Now that's what you call a welcoming and caring service!

We stopped here a few years back and were really disappointed - the decor was bland and this was matched by the food. We stopped again recently on the way from Edinburgh to Durham and what a change! The decor was modern, the service excellent as was the food! In addition to a decent menu, there are also a number of specials. On our visit, one of the specials was cod and chips which was very tasty (and substantial)! We will definitely be back

This establishment gets plenty of excellent reviews but not that for us. We has a dog so were in the bar area which is not particularly welcoming, pool table in the middle, some tables most with stools rather than chairs and certainly rather cold and it wasn't a particularly cold day. The service was friendly and efficient. We both had the fish pie special. It came with a good salad and plenty of peas but the pie was somewhat fish light, potato heavy and rather lacking in flavour. We have certainly had better. The lounge did look somewhat more welcoming so if you have an option leave the dog in the car and try that.

We visited here after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and were so glad that we did. The restaurant was beautiful and welcoming. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The menu was varied and appetising. I had the belly pork from the special menu and husband had the local pie. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will certainly call in again when in the are.

I took my parents to the Redesdale Arms restaurant for a belated birthday lunch for my Dad earlier this month. It was a Tues and after the schools had gone back so the place was lovely and quiet which suited us perfectly. We were given a table by a window so we could enjoy the amazing view. This was my first visit however my parents have eaten here a few times and no one was disappointed.

A welcoming pub just outside Otterburn. Provides good service and good food in a comfortable, friendly environment. Local craft beers available - can recommend F& L Brewery 'Reiver Best Bitter', and 'Wagtail Bitter' from Allendale Brewery. Visited numerous times during 2 week holiday in Northumbria. All round good value for money.

As one of a group of cyclists from Newcastle Great Park, it’s always a good stop off before the final stretch back home. Butties and a drink 👍, along with friendly service. Courtyard round the back is great when the weather allows.

Fabulous food with a large menu. Reasonably priced with large portions.Very friendly staff and attentive service.Loved the Spanakopta starter and the Lamb Kleftico.Good choices for chicken dishes. The breakfasts are varied and tasty. The best of all was the Sunday lunch with 5 choices of meat, just fabulous.

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.
