We stayed in May this year and had to come back because location, food, staff etc really excellent. So, stayed again this Sunday gone. This time I had the roast lamb dinner, so tender you don't need a knife to cut the lamb! Breakfast I had haddock and poached egg, wonderful as naturally smoked. Already planning to return, hopefully in Sept but definitely latest for our anniversary in November.

Lovely warm welcoming pub, friendly attentive staff. Sunday dinner hit the spot, my beef was plentiful, pink and tender. The vegetables tasty. The only thing I feel let the meal down was the sourdough with my starter the pickled sweet herring with Crème fraiche. Not what I’d call sourdough- soft crust, no real flavour more like a supermarket ‘made with sourdough’ loaf. Disappointed as I am a bread snob and chose the starter because of the advertised sourdough.

Drove across to this lovely pub last night for dinner. Attended to by very pleasant young lady called Annabelle. Lovely old pub with real fire, cosy bar, and separate dining areas. Menu very good, we chose chicken stuffed with haggis in a whisky sauce and belly pork, both of which were presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. Tasted fantastic, as did their cheesecake! Very friendly staff, and they do gift vouchers, so we bought one for a gift, although fancy keeping it for ourselves after such a lovely evening! It is very much recommended!

The Pheasant Inn has a really cosy restaurant and bar, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a delightful meal after our visit to the Kielder Observatory. My lamb was succelent and the chicken my husband ordered was excellent. Hot food on hot plates! Oh, joy! As for the cheescake I had, it was divine and my husband waxed lyrical over the chocolate dessert. We stayed overnight and our breakfast exceeded expectations. One of the best cooked breakfasts we've had in years. We shall return!

We found the Pheasant Inn during a brief reconnaissance of possible photographic sites in February 2023. The quality of food and service are simply outstanding, on a par with fine dining in the West End of London. The service was impeccable and the ambience of the restaurant (with lots of eye-catching items on walls and shelves) is both restful and interesting. We returned in May for a week-long photo shoot and dined at the Pheasant again - everything was as before, and the quality of food was just as good. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the Pheasant's hospitality if you're in the area.

We ate at the Pheasant Inn while staying in a local self-catering cottage. The first evening two of us had Northumberland lamb while my husband had the pork. We all had Bakewell tart to follow. The food was so good we decided to go back a couple of days later. As we had tickets for the Kielder Observatory, we needed to eat early and the inn opens early for such events. Again food was great so we returned for a final night meal a couple of days later.Overall the food was beautifully cooked, showed skill in preparation (one evening we had a boned, stuffed partridge) and there were good portions of well cooked vegetables. It was clear that the cook shows great care in the selection of the ingredients offered to the customers, many ingredients being locally sourced. In terms of Covid, the tables are well spaced out, I saw staff wiping tables down after other customers had left and they all wore face coverings and took care over social distancing. You had to book and wait to be shown to your table. All I can say is well done and it's such a pity we live hundreds of miles away.

We stayed 2 nights in Pheasant Inn whilst visiting Kielder Forest. We found the staff friendly and helpful; the COVID-19 measures very reassuring; and the room comfortable and clean. The food was great - of a higher standard that we had anticipated (based on a middle-of-nowhere pub) and the portion sizes were generous. Our two breakfasts and two dinners both provided lots of choice. Perhaps some lighter options would have been good (fruit, salad) but otherwise all delicious. The atmosphere was good too.

Food was absolutely excellent and at first service was great..... however the service later on left a lot to be desired. The waitress who cleared away our plates after our main meal had a grumpy face on her and obviously was in a foul mood. She didn’t even acknowledge or speak to us and was speaking to a colleague whilst clearing away. After which we waited and waited, with empty glasses, to have our desert order taken. We wrongly assumed that someone would be over. After 15mins we asked to order a desert from a waitress with her arms full, to which she replied give me minute. She never returned! 10 minutes later (25mins in total) upon seeing other diners, who arrived and finished their meals after us receiving their desert orders we reluctantly called it a night and asked for the bill.We had said during the meal how much we liked the pub and the menu and were planning on going back tomorrow. However, after the shambolic service we received, we shall drive further afield and find somewhere else where our custom is appreciated.

We choose this restaurant based on reviews for an anniversary dinner whilst on holiday in the area. Our conclusion is that they do what they say, which is what you would hope for in a pub restaurant.Good flavours, nice presentation and reasonable prices. Not sure why the locals call this 'fine dining'. The menu was similar to every other pub in the area, you just pay more for a smaller portion. The ambience is nice, but no different to any of the other local pubs, and a little less homely if anything. Our food was ok, but there just wasn't enough of it. We weren't planning on dessert, but after a small main, it felt justified. Again we were disappointed as they were fairly bland. The sticky toffee pudding had hardly any sauce, and the bread and butter pudding was barely a finger width! There are better options nearby.

We went for a couples meal before heading up to the observatory, rang and asked what was the latest we could book a table for which I was told 8pm. We got there for 8pm we’re sat down at our table and were asked to order immediately as the kitchen was closing, the waiter stood over us so we had to read the menu in a matter on minutes. One of the party ordered the vegetable lasagne which did have a V on the menu so we knew it was a vegetarian dish, when it came it was awful, totally tasteless and dry so it wasn’t eaten. We told the waiter this when he came to collect the plates and he replied saying that he had told the chef and the chef replied with ‘what did you expect when it was vegan’ the waiter then went on a massive rant about how vegans can’t expect to have tasty food (my partner isn’t a vegan just fancied a vegetable lasagne!!). All very awkward and not what you expect when you give your feedback to the staff, to us a chef shouldn’t put something on his menu and charge people money for it if he knows it is rubbish!! My partner wasn’t offered anything else and it wasn’t offered to be taken off the bill either. Left feeling very disappointed with the staffs attitude towards us :-(

We popped in here searching for a real traditional British pub. At first there were no vegan options on the menu (which I wasn't too surprised about out in the sticks) but after asking the barman if they could make anything vegan, he went and consulted the chef Gabor who managed to somehow whip up a vegan lasagna for me with a healthy helping of salad and I'm not joking I think it might have been the best lasagna, vegan or otherwise, I've ever had. I really really recommend adding it to the menu as a permanent option as it was 'finom' as they possibly say in Hungary! (Gabor is Hungarian I believe). The barman, whose name I, unfortunately, did not catch, was also very helpful, and also fixed my phone when it couldn't connect to the wifi. Overall, would certainly come here again!

Shared the chicken parfait starter which was delicious, both opted for the chicken and leek pie which was also delicious and finally finished off with two desserts as they sounded and looked so good. Sticky toffee pudding was fantastic and the apple and raspberry crumble was tasty. Great value for money. Will definitely be returning.

Popped in for dinner whilst staying in the area. Although we hadn’t booked they managed to find us a table (booking is advised as there don’t appear to be many pubs in the area). I had lamb followed by sticky toffee pudding. The food was delicious but the pudding was to die for! Staff were really friendly also and he pub soon filled up (we arrived at opening time so we’re lucky).

Prompted by the high rating we called at The Pheasant Inn for lunch today. Reception was welcoming and friendly, drinks served promptly, and the food likewise. I chose the steak and kidney pie, which was delicious. My wife chose the home baked gammon in cider. While her vegetables were excellent, as was the sauce on the gammon, the gammon itself was overcooked - seriously dried out. As she is not one to complain, I only found this out toward the end of the meal (when she asked me to take some of the gammon). We pointed this out to the waiter, who apologised profusely - but of course by then the meal had been spoiled for my wife. She explained to me that had she complained earlier, the fuss would have spoiled the meal for her anyway! The sympathetic waiter charged us £12.95 for the dish, which was listed on the blackboard at £14, and said he would pass our message on to the chef...

Struggled to find anywhere decent to eat in Kielder where we were staying at leaplish park. (Dont bother with boat restaurant unless you like bland microwaved food!)

We Stayed at this venue to access the Kielder Observatory, the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Evening meal was well presented and food was delicious and the selection of Beers and spirits was complimentary to this. our room was based on the ground floor with a separate access to the Inn as we were expecting to be back late from the Observatory. Room was warm clean and comfortable with all the extras you'd expect from large hotel conglomorates (thanky you) largest bath towels I've seen in a long long time. Its 9.5 Miles to the Observatory from the Pheasant Inn, Kielder revesvoir is nearer along the same main road

Had two lovely dinners here. The biggest problem was trying to choose what to have. The staff are very friendly and hard working.

Found this cafe quite by accident but went in as it was full. Soon got a table which was quickly cleaned by efficient staff. Good menu, proper home cooked food at very reasonable prices. All staff very good and friendly with visitors and locals alike. Hope to return again.

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.
