From the minute we walked in we were made to feel very welcome by all staff, service was 10/10, food came quickly and was lovely… super pleased with our first visit will definitely be coming again! 100% recommend to anyone x
Outstanding service and food. Really tasty starters: spicy prawns & satay chicken with spicy peanut sauce. Peking duck was perfect, huge portions. Mains on set menu B were beef with bamboo shoots & mixed veg, chicken in black bean sauce (spicy), noddles with beansprouts and prawn with cashew and bamboo shoots. Enormous portions plus crust spicy green beans. Took home the remainder- enough for 3-4 people. They even brought out their own special tea. A great evening .(10/10 food )
We got a take away from here this evening. It was the first time we have tried here. The portion size for the price was shocking. £9.50 for sweet chilli chicken there was 6 small pieces in this dish! We e will not revisit.
Nana B’s bakery is such a lively addition in carshalton. The owner Sian and the team are all so lovely and polite! It is very welcoming and inclusive to others! There is a ramp for buggies/wheelchairs and they have two handled mugs if needed. They do such a lovely food variety which includes sausage rolls, paninis, toasties, salads, breakfasts & of course desserts! They have a little corner for children to play in and even do little events too. Could not recommend any higher, me and my daugther go regularly since they’ve opened and have taken family/friends too.
We came to the racehorse for the FA Cup final after seeing all the balloons outside - great atmosphere and hospitality , and lovely garden - shout out to Wayne the new manager for making it so special , Callum and Erin

THE QUEST FOR A 5 STAR SPOONS
14-05-2025
Report Log:
Now this is what a spoons should look like. The Shining -esque carpet; the dark wooden chairs and tables; the absolute sprawling open space with a smattering of locals boozing away; the feeling in the air of tension and dread. Amazing. Gets a 4 cause the bar staff were dead nice here and it just felt like a good checkpoint establishment
Had me whispering to the moon like I ain’t no Bruno Mars tho 😱🤭
Absolutely amazing food, really friendly and attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely a restaurant I will visit again if I’m in the area. The restaurant choice proved to be a fantastic option for a birthday meal. We left very full as the portion sizes are very generous. Excellent value for money. 10/10 restaurant.
I have moved about a year ago to this area. I have tried few Chinese takeaway shops and most of them have been very disappointing however, Chinese Canteen does not disappoint and every time I have ordered my food has been amazing and the price is good considering others charge ridiculous price and the food turns out rubbish. I thought they only did in person order as I couldn’t find them on Ubereats or Deliveroo so I’ve not been ordering lately unless I am in the area which is not often especially now it’s cold. I accidentally discovered I can order from their website and I have never been happy.
I highly recommend it. :) food is delicious.
Don’t get me wrong customer service could be better but I understand that is just how they are so I won’t hold this against them as my food is prepared well and it’s delicious so it’s worth going just for that!
This takeaway used to be, by far, the best Indian food in the area. Better than the best rated restaurant. Something changed between May and August 21. Unfortunately, the food is now very poor, old fashioned Indian and everything is spicy hot. In August we had a pasanda that was too hot for my partner to eat and a very hot prawn puri. Trying it again this week (hoping it was a one - off) it was worse. Examples. The chilli paneer used to be hot (I like it reasonably hot), with soft, white paneer in a very light, almost non-existent sauce, with trimmings. Now it is overcooked paneer in just a thick, brown sauce. Prawn puri was previously mild and light with thin, light puri. Now it it is a thick, brown, hot sauce on a thick, brown, tough bread, which I couldn't eat. We gave the place a second chance, because anyone can have an off day. It's a shame, because it really was a brilliant takeaway before.
