Must admit the visit didn’t start well. The car park is scruffy with bins, rubbish and sundry old equipment piled up and it doesn’t create a good first impression. Inside the welcome was warm and friendly but the chairs at the table we were shown to were scruffy and very stained. My first beer (London Pride) was sour, probably the end of the barrel, but was changed when I pointed it out and The Scarecrow much better. Not good so far. However, the staff were great and the food very good. Fish and chips was plentiful and beautifully cooked. The Hoisin Belly Pork something different and really tasty. Overall we all enjoyed our visit and would go again.

I had booked lunch in the Lounges for my partners birthday. The booking was made 7 days in advance and confirmed by email. The Grove called to confirm the booking the day before, and confirmed we wanted Sushi, not Afternoon Tea. They also sent an email to confirm again the morning of the booking. They mentioned nothing of not being able to sit in the Lounges on any of the confirmations. On arrival we were told they had overbooked, and The Lounges were now only for Afternoon Tea and we could go to the bar if we wanted. The Bar had business people on laptops and children running round, not the setting you want for a birthday lunch. Its disappointing that they overbook, but also that they didn't mention this when they confirmed the booking so we could change our plans. Clearly money over service and we won't be returning.

What a wonderful place this is!! Everyone from the door man to the servers and the chefs were amazingly friendly and helpful. The food was stunning, the best we've ever had. We'd like to articularly praise Levi and Jacek. They seemed to lake it as though we were the only people they had to deal with and we had some lovely chats with acek, he even sung happy birthday to my husband! Looking forward to coming back, it's now our favourite restaurant even though we live in Kent!"

Was somewhat apprehensive about booking The Stables based on the recent reviews. Our experience was positive. We met friends and entered the beautiful restaurant with lovely fresh flowers. It has a lovely, relaxed vibe. We’d a young, but very attentive server and she provided excellent service throughout, even though the restaurant was fully booked and as time went on became very busy. Lots of friends and families meeting up and enjoying the beautiful setting of The Grove. We started with a selection of starters to graze on including the sour dough bread (beautiful), mushroom pate and the Isle of Wight Heritage tomato salad (so good, we ordered a second one). Then we had a child’s meal of the chicken goujons, several portions of the classic fish and chips, and the reminder of us had the lamb cutlets. All were excellent. My only criticism would be that the lamb didn’t come with anything so although you’d one side included you really needed both some veg and some carbs, but were forced to choose. For puddings, we’d a section including a stunning lemon tart. In all, a lovely get together of family and friends. And it was a glorious place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny Saturday. It ain’t cheap, but then you’re in a five star hotel. Happy to recommend and we’d certainly revisit if in the area.

This was my birthday Sunday Lunch celebration with family - many of whom live locally and had heard that the Boot was renowned for its Sunday roast. First off - the service was excellent - friendly, polite, prompt, great with the two kids etc. starters were all good - langoustine, squid, kofti etc The problem ( and for me and my guests a big one) was we were all specifically asked how we wanted our beef cooked. We all wanted rare. However on arrival all servings were at best medium - not even medium rare, let alone rare. I did think about sending it back ( should have done) but that would have spoilt the occasion and left 3 guests eating alone. The kitchen is catering for big numbers and I question how they can deliver bespoke roast - which is why I also suspect they possibly pre cook the beef “sous vide” - if so how can that be served as rare? It was very disappointing. I fed back to the manager who apologised ( offered us complimentary coffee which we declined) - but if your roasts are a highlight you need to do better I’m afraid.

We were stuck in traffic on the M25 which was going to get worse so we headed off to find a pub and discovered this lovely place. Very friendly welcome when we came in. Lovely beer on tap (Badger brewery - fursty ferrit), very well kept. The food was great, we had the pie of the day, which was Steak and kidney and I had the Classic Burger. was a little pricey, but food was of good quality. Service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely go again when we are passing.
