A fantastic meal with great service and amazing food

Curtis made a seafood platter for my partner’s Birthday today OMG it was to die for The lobsters were massive and delicious Crabs and king prawns the same will definitely be ordering again . Thank you made our evening .

CV Food here is great. I cannot recommend it enough. I had the shawarma and it was perfect. Starter was also very good and a good size. Nice pub atmosphere and friendly service.

This place is sensational. Having been there around 5 times, the service is always excellent. The staff can’t do too much for you. The food is awesome. We initially went for Sunday lunch and my wife and I had the most incredible lamb we’ve tasted. We went back again the following week, and it wasn’t quite as good, but still excellent. It’s dog friendly, has a great range of drinks, a very nice beer garden and is fairly priced. The chicken shawarma and the nachos are absolute standouts.

Took my 91 year old mum out for lunch. Adults had roast dinners and two kids (11&13) had burgers.. we sat out in the marquee which was fine. The food was really good, hot and lots of it! We had a lovely waitress called Amelia who was helpful and friendly. I would definitely go back!

Service excellent, food phenomenal! Would highly recommend. If you don’t make a visit to this charming pub, you will be missing out

As soon as a saw the facebook photos of their haul from Billingsgate fish market I know I needed to visit and that there was a good reason why the fish menu changed every weekend! Fab fresh seafood and fish. Fab service and venue. But maybe don’t go too much else I’ll struggle to get a table at my new favourite pub! 😉. Had the scallops starter which were cooked wonderfully (though next time I’ll ask if it’s peas or mushy peas which I don’t want). For mains we had the monkfish and chowder. Both outstanding

Amazing service from Nicola! Best food and best time

Lovely pub and gardens serving great food and at reasonable prices. We meet up with family here, as it is mid way between our homes and it also has good walks nearby. Just wish it was closer to home so we could visit more often.

Friendly staff, nice outdoor space and food mostly good (albeit a bit overpriced). But we waited well over an hour for food and the toilets are in an AWFUL state – both in a state of utter disrepair and unclean with no loo paper.

Wish I had taken a photo of my meal but had the best gluten free batter on my fish I have ever tasted, not greasy and very light. Portion size was very good. Lovely garden. Friendly staff

If I ever come to London again, I will definitely come here. And I recommend it to my friends.

Lovely picturesque pub with sweet smelling wisteria climbing all over it. We went rather early on a Friday lunchtime so cannot really comment on the atmosphere. At that time it felt friendly and so quiet- as in no sound of cars or rowdy people, just the sound of birds singing. We were served by Nicky who was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, especially impressed with the homemade onion rings. I think they are the best I have ever had.

What a fabulous afternoon lunch and huge thanks to Nikki for absolutely excellent service. She deserves a bottle of Sauvignon to help her paint her fences!

Loved this pub, we had a chat over the phone and they made sure they had a tomahawk steak in ready for our sons birthday, the food was delicious and very friendly service here, Beer was also good, buzzing atmosphere on a Friday night ( special fish menu Friday) the mussels were amazing!

My favourite place to visit! Never disappoints- food is always fresh and the staff always go above and beyond!

I had a perfectly cooked swordfish steak on their fish night. All the dishes are well seasoned and cooked well. The chef doesn't overcomplicate like so many do these days. The staff are friendly and there's always a pleasant atmosphere. You can't ask for more. Thank you Cart and Horses for consistently making my folks happy on so many occasions.

Lovely country pub that serves great food! It's not that big so I'd advise booking beforehand. Tuesday is steak night, special cheaper prices. This is the best steak you'll have anywhere near Watford. They even do a tomahawk, massive, the cheapest I've found anywhere and sooooo delicious!! The staff are lovely, very helpful and have a sense of humour. They also do a fantastic roast on a Sunday, which is also very popular so make sure to book up in time.

We shared a lovely family meal together at the Cart and Horses for a Sunday lunch. Staff were accommodating when we asked to add an additional person to the booking at the last minute. The roast dinner was excellent with extremely generous portions. We would highly recommend!

Steph was such a lovely server, It’s the first time we’ve visited and we will definitely be back! Portions were lovely and big and really well cooked. We also had a chat to Curtis and he was great. What a little gem of a pub!

Fantastic sunday roast dinner as always

We had bottomless brunch in a mix of boys and girls selection. The food was amazing all freshly made and cooked. Non stop service even though the bar was super busy. Constant supply of drinks. Extra food avalible if wanted but tbf the portions were very generous. All in all a fantastic afternoon. N.B The scotch egg is amazing.

Proper country pub, lovely owners, lovely food! Seafood Thursdays and Fridays are a must. Lovely giant tiger prawns and creamy moules mariniere are just a couple of highlights.

Delightful pub full of charm Steph, Amelia and Henry were the perfect team, all three helpful and attentive and friendly. Whether it’s a Espetada, big juicy steak or a tender halloumi burger, there is something for everyone. Add an atmosphere that is warm and cosy. A real find tucked away in the heart of the countryside.

Had a lovely family lunch with you on Saturday - bit windy so we moved into a hut very cosy then the sun tempted us out again. We loved our shellfish lunch including mussels, shrimps cockles and lovely large prawns and the kids chose scampi -

We had a roast each on a Sunday, the food was superb. However being sat very close to the door that was constantly banging shut was disruptive as was being so close to the extremely busy bar..... However what was mostly disappointing was not getting the desserts that we had ordered, and then when we finally managed to flag someone down having given up on them appearing, finding that the order for them had never been put through.

Always a pleasure to eat at the Cart and Horses. Food never disappoints and service is always friendly and welcoming.

Visited on a Friday evening for their Fish Friday menu. Had hoped for skate but that all went by 1.00pm. Will try to pre order next time. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. My wife loved the mussels and fish and chips. My seafood chowder was huge. Great to have somewhere that specialises in fish.

We have been coming here regularly for over a year now. We always get a warm welcome from Steph who looks after us. The steak night is the highlight of the week - good steak cooked well (it's why we keep coming back).

Best birthday dinner! Came on steak Tuesday and my husband had the tomahawk….good job he skipped lunch. All good was great. Brilliant atmosphere and they even decorated the table. Nicky talked us into cheesecake and bread and butter pudding. Glad we did, even though we’re rolling home!

A wonderful country pub with an old school vibe. The service on mothering sunday was exceptional despite the fact it was a full house! The team quite clearly like each other and work well. The portions were big and the lamb shoulder exceptional. The garden is geared towards kids and its really relaxing. Thank you Cart and Horses Team we will be back.

First visit here and was most impressed. Food and drinks excellent. Guinness very good. Irritatingly, some people were using the car park to go walk, then not visit pub. Yobs! Nikki absolutely charming- a sublime duet of conscientiousness with an unrivalled focus on customer service. Lisa- truly an absolute fox and Steph manning the bar and till with the efficiency of a forensic accountant. Well done. Will return to this well oiled ship when next in the area.

We came from Cambridge to surprise my mum who had booked afternoon tea. Spoke with Nikki on the phone and she added us to mums booked table. We didn’t have the afternoon tea but we most defiantly be back for that! We had the chicken burger omg the best chicken burger I’ve ever had. It’s an hour and half away from home but will be making the journey back.

Nikki was a delight and went above and beyond. Service with a smile and chat..! Got the tomahawk steak wrong first time but redeemed themselves with a perfect one second time round with free desserts thrown in. Excellent customer service and amazing food. We shall return , thank you..!

We went on fish Friday and had the most amazing meal, prawns, scallops & chowder was all so Fresh and our waitress Nicky was so lovely really friendly and spent time chatting to us which was lovely definitely be back.

Nikki was great! Very friendly and even convinced us to get the cheesecake and I’m very glad she did.
