Amazing food, as always. The staff, Curtis, Steph and Lisa are friendly and have plenty of advice to help choose from the menu when you can’t decide. The pub is so busy but you can enjoy and unhurried meal that cooked to perfection. I had octopus and it was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Definitely, worth a visit but book to be sure of a table.

All the staff was simply amazing. Nicky was exceptional and so polite and bubbly. She made our visit such a pleasure. Compliments to the chef for such an amazing and tasty food.

Had to pre order due to being a party of 10. So no option to order a "special" which a few of us would have.

Loved this pub, we had a chat over the phone and they made sure they had a tomahawk steak in ready for our sons birthday, the food was delicious and very friendly service here, Beer was also good, buzzing atmosphere on a Friday night ( special fish menu Friday) the mussels were amazing!

Fantastic food , very friendly staff member Freddie served us today. Made sure we had everything we needed . Lisa continued to look after us throughout our visit . Will most definitely be coming back , fantastic food , very well priced 👌

They always deliver amazing food here, and it consistently comes out super quick! The drinks and service are also excellent!

I had a perfectly cooked swordfish steak on their fish night. All the dishes are well seasoned and cooked well. The chef doesn't overcomplicate like so many do these days. The staff are friendly and there's always a pleasant atmosphere. You can't ask for more. Thank you Cart and Horses for consistently making my folks happy on so many occasions.

Lovely country pub that serves great food! It's not that big so I'd advise booking beforehand. Tuesday is steak night, special cheaper prices. This is the best steak you'll have anywhere near Watford. They even do a tomahawk, massive, the cheapest I've found anywhere and sooooo delicious!! The staff are lovely, very helpful and have a sense of humour. They also do a fantastic roast on a Sunday, which is also very popular so make sure to book up in time.

We shared a lovely family meal together at the Cart and Horses for a Sunday lunch. Staff were accommodating when we asked to add an additional person to the booking at the last minute. The roast dinner was excellent with extremely generous portions. We would highly recommend!

We were here on Easter Saturday, so it was very busy, but the food was delicious. Great standard of pub food. Fresh fish and steak specials.

Steph was such a lovely server, It’s the first time we’ve visited and we will definitely be back! Portions were lovely and big and really well cooked. We also had a chat to Curtis and he was great. What a little gem of a pub!

Fantastic sunday roast dinner as always

We had bottomless brunch in a mix of boys and girls selection. The food was amazing all freshly made and cooked. Non stop service even though the bar was super busy. Constant supply of drinks. Extra food avalible if wanted but tbf the portions were very generous. All in all a fantastic afternoon. N.B The scotch egg is amazing.

Delightful pub full of charm Steph, Amelia and Henry were the perfect team, all three helpful and attentive and friendly. Whether it’s a Espetada, big juicy steak or a tender halloumi burger, there is something for everyone. Add an atmosphere that is warm and cosy. A real find tucked away in the heart of the countryside.

Proper country pub, lovely owners, lovely food! Seafood Thursdays and Fridays are a must. Lovely giant tiger prawns and creamy moules mariniere are just a couple of highlights.

Had a lovely family lunch with you on Saturday - bit windy so we moved into a hut very cosy then the sun tempted us out again. We loved our shellfish lunch including mussels, shrimps cockles and lovely large prawns and the kids chose scampi -

Great venue for fine food and e joying the spacious garden.

We had a roast each on a Sunday, the food was superb. However being sat very close to the door that was constantly banging shut was disruptive as was being so close to the extremely busy bar..... However what was mostly disappointing was not getting the desserts that we had ordered, and then when we finally managed to flag someone down having given up on them appearing, finding that the order for them had never been put through.

Always a pleasure to eat at the Cart and Horses. Food never disappoints and service is always friendly and welcoming.

Visited on a Friday evening for their Fish Friday menu. Had hoped for skate but that all went by 1.00pm. Will try to pre order next time. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. My wife loved the mussels and fish and chips. My seafood chowder was huge. Great to have somewhere that specialises in fish.

Best birthday dinner! Came on steak Tuesday and my husband had the tomahawk….good job he skipped lunch. All good was great. Brilliant atmosphere and they even decorated the table. Nicky talked us into cheesecake and bread and butter pudding. Glad we did, even though we’re rolling home!

We have been coming here regularly for over a year now. We always get a warm welcome from Steph who looks after us. The steak night is the highlight of the week - good steak cooked well (it's why we keep coming back).

A wonderful country pub with an old school vibe. The service on mothering sunday was exceptional despite the fact it was a full house! The team quite clearly like each other and work well. The portions were big and the lamb shoulder exceptional. The garden is geared towards kids and its really relaxing. Thank you Cart and Horses Team we will be back.

First visit here and was most impressed. Food and drinks excellent. Guinness very good. Irritatingly, some people were using the car park to go walk, then not visit pub. Yobs! Nikki absolutely charming- a sublime duet of conscientiousness with an unrivalled focus on customer service. Lisa- truly an absolute fox and Steph manning the bar and till with the efficiency of a forensic accountant. Well done. Will return to this well oiled ship when next in the area.

We came last night with our friends it was our first visit and didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing and our waitress was Nicky she was outstanding and made our evening what a lovely lady. Looking forward to coming back!!

We visit here quite frequently and I can honestly say the the menu is better than ever . Nikki is fantastic as ever and always finds us a table a short notice. Loved the seafood chowder off the new menu

We came from Cambridge to surprise my mum who had booked afternoon tea. Spoke with Nikki on the phone and she added us to mums booked table. We didn’t have the afternoon tea but we most defiantly be back for that! We had the chicken burger omg the best chicken burger I’ve ever had. It’s an hour and half away from home but will be making the journey back.

We love to support local British business and Cart & Horses is one of those special gems you selfishly want to keep a secret! Nestled down a country lane this olde pub/restaurant was well known during the pandemic for knocking out the best Sunday roasts and seafood platters. I booked looking for a cozy traditional meal & spoil my mum - we came with high expectations - we were delighted to offer a strong A* star review We were treated to the most delicious, tender Lamb Shank, with plenty of perfectly cooked vegetables. I was pretty impressed by the crispy chicken & cheese burger - my daughter gave me a bite and ohhhh myyyy, I'm coming back for this one! I'm not a big dessert fan, BUT the showstopper for us had to be the recommended cheese cake....wow!....honeycomb pieces on a shortcake base, it was other-worldly! We were hosted by lovely, friendly accommodating staff who should be very proud - the meal was the best we've had in a long time. Thank you x Love the Muir family xx

absolutely amazing, one of the best or even the best pub I've been to, for food, service and atmosphere, steaks are fantastic, forget over priced steak houses Cart and horses knocks them all out the park, blown away by the value and quality of all the food. Had to come back 15/03/2025. once again amazing, food again best I've had in a long time sea food chowder out standing. Big thanks to Nicki who made us feel so welcome fantastic service 10 out of 10
