Not one of our party of 34 adults and children could fault the Sunday Lunch service, food and experience. We understandably pre-ordered our food but the impeccable organisation of the staff (particularly Jonathan) in bringing our lunches to the table to the right people, adding dessert orders and enabling each group to settle up without fuss or confusion was superb. As for the children, we only saw them fleetingly while they ate. The rest of the time they were playing football using the two small goals, climbing, swinging and sliding away. The venue is perfect for large groups with an outside bar making ordering drinks efficient. Another nod to Jonathan, his level of attentiveness was spot-on and The Boot is very lucky to have a host as helpful and friendly as this guy. Thank you.

Good service and nice staff but food under par, nothing special about any of it. Calamari starter was bland and the Caesar salad was massive but poor. Prices are ok but I wouldn’t rush back at all.

My neighbour friend and I walk every week and stop at a pub for breakfast or lunch. Last had breakfast this Saturday. We must have eaten at The Boot at least 20 times and after receiving consistently good service and food I felt it was about time I wrote a well-deserved review. This is a quaint unspoilt cozy pub with lots of history. It has preserved its old character too – low beams, fireplace, etc. The landlady is very pleasant and always greets customers with a smile. No matter how young the staff, they are all so well-trained you cannot but be impressed – good service, attentive and very polite. Emily is a gem. The food is always delicious, good portions and reasonably priced. The menu has plenty of different choices, including vegan and for children. I could not recommend this pub enough as after so many visits we have never been disappointed.

Our friends and family commented on how amazing the outdoor bar, marquee and staff were all day. We will definitely host future events here!

Awesome gem that I’ve found just by searching for kid-friendly places reasonably close to all relatives and friends invited to my son’s third birthday. It’s the sort of place that would deserve to exceed the usual review scale, six stars would at least be required to represent the distance between The Boot and many other places that I reviewed with 5 stars. Ever since we set foot into this great pub, we’ve been welcomed with smiles and a level of kindness that other places reserve only for returning guests. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and there’s a wide range of good cocktails, beers and wines available. The kids play area is wonderful and my son played all afternoon. There are also many tables close to the play area so adults can have food there while keeping an eye on their children. The weather wasn’t great so we had food indoors, and even if our table was near the kitchen, no smell or noise disturbed us. All the staff sang Happy Birthday to my son while taking the cake that we had been allowed to bring over, and overall it’s been a perfect day. I will definitely look for opportunities to come back here.

After a beautiful walk in The Chess Valley we visited The Boot for the Tuesday special of Fish'n'chips'. Fantastic value at £8. Really the loveliest batter on a piece of fish I've ever had! Very flavoursome, crisp and hot, chips were decent enough with a small portion of mushy peas. The real ale from local Tring Brewery was excellent with a few other ales available too. Very dog friendly, our lovely waitress Beth happily re-filled the water bowls and was very attentive and helpful. I'd happily return and recommend. Thank you The Boot.

Having looked at a number of pub menus for a mid walk lunch I settled on the Boot, mainly because it had both main meals but also a selection of sandwiches over the lunchtime hours. So glad I chose this pub. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly, with smiles and excellent service from each member of staff (three in total) that attended to us. A recommendation for the Aspall’s blush also went down well as did the Pimms which was deliciously fruity. I was surprised at how many diners there were indoors on a Thursday lunchtime but given our experience I can understand why!! The food was excellent (tuna panini, cod goujon ciabatta & a portion of chunky chips) and we finished off our meal with a flat white - which was huge and flavoursome! I will definitely return! Friday fizz sounds good as does the quiz and other events being advertised! Well done team!!

With it being a very hot Sunday and the place buzzing both inside and out, we, a party of 6, were expecting a long wait for our table and food. We were pleasantly surprised therefore to be seated immediately by a very attentive staff member with drinks appearing within minutes. Similarly our food order was taken and our meals were on the table very quickly. The food was excellent as were the staff who were operating under what must have been manic conditions. Thank you The Boot at Sarratt for a very enjoyable lunch.

Food was terrible. Had a funny taste to it. My elderly auntie who was with me ate fish and chips, she got home and spent 3 days in bed throwing up. The chips I had were cold and had so many bad bits in them they were very off putting. It also didn't say that they had the skin on. I ate 1 of my aunt's fat chips and it tasted vile. They should have one fryer for chips and a different fryer for fish. Shame as the place and service were amazing.

Nice looking pub, feels warm and like a proper pub if that makes sense My girlfriend had the risotto that she described as very average, and the lamb 'special' was about as special as a boot given how overcooked it was, the bread was also very soggy that it was served on... £20 wasted, was not worth anywhere near that I'd recommend a pint and to catch up, but wouldn't recommend those dishes for food Staff were also nice, though it did take a very long time to get food even though it was pretty quiet

Upon first approaching The Boot at Sarrat is looking a little tired and unkempt. Inside is the same. Behind the bar needs a good tidy up and it could use a lick of paint. Dog friendly, cider selection not great, a recurring theme in pubs in this area I'm afraid.

Must admit the visit didn’t start well. The car park is scruffy with bins, rubbish and sundry old equipment piled up and it doesn’t create a good first impression. Inside the welcome was warm and friendly but the chairs at the table we were shown to were scruffy and very stained. My first beer (London Pride) was sour, probably the end of the barrel, but was changed when I pointed it out and The Scarecrow much better. Not good so far. However, the staff were great and the food very good. Fish and chips was plentiful and beautifully cooked. The Hoisin Belly Pork something different and really tasty. Overall we all enjoyed our visit and would go again.

I had booked lunch in the Lounges for my partners birthday. The booking was made 7 days in advance and confirmed by email. The Grove called to confirm the booking the day before, and confirmed we wanted Sushi, not Afternoon Tea. They also sent an email to confirm again the morning of the booking. They mentioned nothing of not being able to sit in the Lounges on any of the confirmations. On arrival we were told they had overbooked, and The Lounges were now only for Afternoon Tea and we could go to the bar if we wanted. The Bar had business people on laptops and children running round, not the setting you want for a birthday lunch. Its disappointing that they overbook, but also that they didn't mention this when they confirmed the booking so we could change our plans. Clearly money over service and we won't be returning.
