Lovely country pub Relaxed atmosphere Friendly staff Amazing food

A fantastic place with absolutely delicious food. Excellent quality and service. I can't wait to return. The lamb pie and banana toffee waffles are particularly tasty.

Another really wonderful evening at the Cricketers, one of the best pubs I know!. My Caesar Salad was great and was followed by a gorgeous lamb and rosemary pie. Great beer as well.

I noticed a ribeye steak is now on the menu! I love a medium grilled ribeye,so I plumped for ityesterday! I started with a tomato and rocket salad! So refreshing then went for the ribeye! I asked for it to be cooked medium. It came with portobello mushroom,grilled tomatoes chunky chips,small watercress salad and peppercorn sauce! I have to say it was delicious! The steak was so very tender. My drink was a pint of limes d soda and I rounded off the meal with a double espresso! Gorgeous Ealing’s serveddelightfully by very attentive waiting staff! A lunch to savour in my very humble opinion!

Surly bar staff who were rude and demanded payment before we went into the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy and loud. Food was good, but would reconsider going again.

Had lunch here with family to celebrate my birthday. It was a lovely warm day and we had the option of dining inside or out - due to having a baby with us, we opted with in! Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots to choose from menu wise and the food was lovely. Reasonably priced. We weren’t rushed at all and really enjoyed our time here (first visit) We will 100% be back soon.

Well what’s to say?I have no experience in running a Pub/Resteraunt but I learnt a lot about how not to!A booking was made at midday for a 6 o’clock table for 7 diners (sic),upon arrival we were shown to our table once it was prepped,around 10 minutes we were asked what we wanted to drink,also the waiter took our food order at the amsame time,around 15 minutes later came our drinks and a further 10 minutes came the bad news (we were already till Chicken had run out (possibly literally)and there were no Yorkshire Puddings for the Beef dinners but would substitute Pigs in Blankets at no extra cost which we reluctantly accepted,another 15 passed when said waiter that their was only I portion of Pork available (3 ordered for the mixed meat roast) but however we were told that Pork could be substituted for Lamb but when asked if there would be extra charge they said no but the Beef would be £4 extra,at which point we thought this may be an Ant and Dec set up!! Alas it wasn’t so we decided enough was enough and settled our drinks bill and departed how the hell do they make any money with such poor service and turn away £300 for the trifling amount of £8?All in all an hour of my life wasted,Would never return again

Good quality and well cooked food. The service at the bar and at our table (in a very pleasant spot in the garden) was excellent.

Excellent food. Outside service was a little slow. Food did not appear to be delivered on a come first served first basis but as we were not in a rush it did not spoil our visit.

A great pub for a Sunday lunch time. My wife and I pre booked a table for after our walk in the fields and woods nearby. Then I had a lovely Sunday lunch and my wife had pasta. The serving staff were very attentive and friendly.

Stumbled across this place by chance. Really lovely pub! And a great Sunday roast. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.

We have been coming here for many years and always enjoy the food, drinks and general ambience. We visited on Friday night. Booked in the bar as we had initially planned to bring our dog but at last minute decided not to. There was a group of people at the bar and they had a large dog with them. The dog was barking and whining repeatedly. Other people in the bar were obviously disturbed by this interruption and the lady in control of the dog just ignored the dog, making no effort to remove the dog. When I complained to the manager, I was told that the owner was a regular and that the dog always behaved like that. The manage didn’t want to upset a regular customer which I can understand. Eventually we were moved into the restaurant but even at the back of the dining area we could still hear the dog. The food was good as were the drinks on offer but they need to deal with issues like this rather than just ignore them. Therefore a poor rating for The Cricketers on the basis of weak management

Went here today for lunch. DEAD fresh pub grub. You can't beat a PROPER steak and ale pie. I'd have had one but I prefer them cold! You won't find any of their food in an air fryer PMS L! ..😋

Relaxed country pub, but you need to book even for Tuesday late lunch. Wide upmarket choice of food served in a cosy restaurant with choice of real ales. Large car park. Lots of surrounding country walks.

We stumbled on this pub on a Sunday afternoon and were made to feel very welcome by the team and a table was promptly found for us, we had our doggy with us aswell. The food and service were both excellent.

Nice pub, décor and atmosphere throughout the inside has been done very tastefully with plenty of comfortable seating areas and all of the pictures on the walls suit the place. Dog friendly too. Will be coming back to sample the food. Toilets for the gents were spotless.

Very disappointed "The Cricketers" in Sarratt. I would not recommend. The open fire left us with our clothes smelling like a smokey bbq! The food was bland. I had Chicken & Leek Pie (bland) with Butter Mash (had weird sour taste). FOOD NEEDS A REVAMP + Fire is a problem maybe if you go to this pub do so in the summer when fire not on!

I have visited the Cricketers many times and have always enjoyed a good experience but my last visit with friends was dreadful. I booked a table for dinner a few days in advance and when we arrived we were shown to a table in a distant corner of the bar as opposed to the restaurant area. The area was empty, soulless and freezing cold. We asked to move and this was accommodated. We ordered our meal, however after nearly an hour no food had arrived. Apparently our waiter had forgotten to place the order in the kitchen despite writing it all down. We were asked to reconfirm our order, then to be told that the kitchen was about to close. A few minutes later the Manageress appeared, apologised and informed us the our choice of main (we had all chosen the same) was no longer available. Substitutes were ordered but to say they were a disappointment is an understatement. The owners, Brunning and Price I believe, need to take a long hard look at the current management of this establishment; standards of food and service which used to be so good have sunk to rock bottom. Such a shame as The Cricketers is an attractive place in a lovely village location. I for one will not be in a hurry to return.

Lovely place in which to eat, drink and relax with friends and family. On a chilly miserable March day the woodburning stove was glowing, the food on the varied menu delicious, and attractively presented by friendly waiting staff. The tables are not crowded together and you are not 'rushed.' Veggie and vegan options available.

Was my first time visiting as the restaurant was highly recommended to me. The decor was lovely, the food was excellent however the service was terrible! We were seated in the dog friendly area as I had my dog with me and not once did any staff member come to check on us or ask if we require anything! My cousin had to go to the bar twice to request service and I had to go once to ask for my 2 year old nephews pasta! It was horrendous! What made it worse was when we politely asked on two occasions if they could please check on how long our order will take, the attitude and response received was as if we were a burden on them! We were seated at 4.50pm and our food did not arrive until 6pm. The restaurant was not busy. We were not impatient or demanding considering we were a table of 3 and a table of 6 next to us whom arrived after us had their food delivered before us! I also observed that the guests on that table were seen to by a waiter and waitress on several occasions and were asked if they required anything whilst we never were! Shocking! I was extremely disappointed in the poor service and will not be visiting again.

Nice pub with nice surroundings. Staff were nice as were the starters but the mains were a disappointing let down. My crispy beef was totally dry and leathery due to overcooking. My wife and sons chips were undercooked and the burger was bland. Obviously cooked by sombody who dosen't give a damn. Won't be back.

Fabulous roast dinner, highly recommend

We booked for Sunday lunch. We were seated for half an hour and we went to the bar to order our drinks as no table service was forthcoming. The food, when it finally arrived, was very good but the service was awful!! We asked for the dessert menu and, after fifteen minutes, were given the bill instead! We paid and left. We live locally and have eaten here many times and the food is always excellent but the service on this occasion was diabolical. We witnessed one party cancel their booking as they had been waiting for too long for service.

Great gastropub. The menu is extensive and all very good with a wide Drink selection. Draught beer is well kept and they have their own brew. Not cheap but worth it for occasional visits

Excellent Sunday lunch each time I have come to the pub. Would highly recommend. The service is excellent but I would say the quality of the Sunday roast dinners is one of the best I have ever eaten. Portion sizes are also very ample.

A fab location and a perfect spot for lunch after a beautiful walk. The service was excellent as was the food, except for 2 dishes (the same) out of the 8 ordered which were very disappointing. However this was brilliantly dealt with and we will definitely all be back. Thank you!

My wife and I have been going to the cricketers for quite a few years now and on the whole it’s been fine with only a few complaints about the food we went there this week for dinner my wife had two starters and I went for the fish and chips big mistake the fish was covered in greasy batter and a thick skin and very little fish I ate the fish but left the rest the only good thing was the chips my wife asked me not to complain as we had been there a couple of times previously and had to complain about a meal and she felt embarrassed also we had a voucher for 25 percent off a spoiled evening when you think the fish and chips was £18 would I order it again no way they are getting a little bit too expensive for what you get I looked at some of the other reviews and someone else had complained about the same thing it’s a shame because the staff and the venue are excellent so probably only go for drinks now

A delicious Sunday roast in a lovely warm and cosy country pub. Excellent and friendly service, lovely atmosphere and very accommodating with my dietary needs. One of best roasts I’ve had. The parsnip purée in particular was delicious!

We chose a very busy day (boxing day) to try this lovely country pub out, so I do feel like a slower service was to be expected but this was something else. The set menu for boxing day was great. The venison pie was lovely! Ordering our drinks, food and asking for the bill took forever. We ended up having to try to find a member of staff each time to take our order/ ask for the bill. Coke took 10 minutes to arrive and a cup of tea took a whopping 30 minutes (apparently due to the amount of coffee on order?) I think they should have prioritised serving diners over the bar, but I guess that's a management/staffing issue.

First of all, I would like to say..... the nicest meal and experience I have had dining out in a long time, if not ever. The staff you can not fault, the landlord, from memory i think his name was Owen, could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The food was insane, i can say without a shadow or doubt i have never had a roast dinner like it, and the mash was so good!! I will be making sure i make many a detour back here when travelling up North. Honestly, I can not recommend this place enough

Lovely setting and great layout and decor. Plenty of space between tables so not noisy and the staff were attentive, friendly and great. Food was the let down. Best was the wild boar pasty, the fish and chips and the mini desert with a hot drink is a great idea. Alas there were 5 of us and the other food options were either bland, overcooked or tough.

The food was very nice but could have been served hotter.

I write this review with a heavy heart. One of the management he was a tall man with a quiff and spoke with an accent. Was what I can describe being verbally abusive to one of the young female members of staff. I wish for something to be done. Because the management should not be run like that nor should this man be in position of power.

We had an excellent meal with friends at the Cricketers in Sarratt last night. Not only was the food delicious the service was extremely friendly and efficient. Top marks to all their team for such a great meal on a Saturday night in December when kitchens are under pressure.

All 20 of us had a fabulous time! Your staff were so friendly, kind, accommodating and approachable. The food was absolutely delicious. Thank you so very much to you all! :)

What a brilliant night. We celebrated my uncles birthday here and had a wonderful time. We were served delightfully by Ella and her brother who was on his first shift there. They made the night for us. So lovely to receive warm and bright service. Could not fault the meal ( except real chips would be the cherry on the top) steak was cooked to perfection and was a great cut. The surroundings are classy and spotless. Thank you so much.

This is the second visit this year. The first was lovely. Food good but what made the evening was our waiter James. He was polite and helpful and made us feel welcome. He was the deciding factor for returning so quickly but unfortunately was informed by a less than enthusiastic staff member that he had been let go. The rest of the evening went down hill from there with unhelpful (maybe tired) staff and mediocre food.

I consider myself a regular here and I always enjoy my meal. However tonight’s roast beef was exceptional! Potentially the best of my life…Every single aspect was incredible! Outstanding meal in a beautiful pub.

Randomly came in as recommended by a friend. Ordered Pheasant Faggot and it was really good and totally unexpected! on to main course and the lamb was also very good!

A very good venue, lovely surroundings, pleasant and friendly staff, good food. What more can you want? My friends had coq au vin pie which looked great and they said was delicious.

Oh dear poor quality food, rude staff and certainly not worth the £90 per couple we paid without alcohol! Went with friends last night for a Saturday evening meal. As we went in we were asked what our allergies were. Then due to them being extremely short staffed it took ages for them to come and take our order. The food did then come quickly, but not only was some of the starters eg soups luke warm, but came with a string of abuse from the rude waitress deriding us about our allergies. Then came the main meals with not only further derision, but all the food was of really poor standard, eg chicken thighs cold and dry with what looked like a half eaten potato, hake can only be described as left over tiny bits and full of bones, steak more than half was complete fat and the burger came in a totally black burnt bun! Even when it came to the cappuccinos at the end, they had to be sent back as they were cold and my friends tea cup was filthy! Sadly we could understand why the restaurant on a Saturday evening wasn’t busy and we cannot recommend and won’t be returning.

S P E C T A C U L A R. Elaborated food. One of the best I've ever tried in pubs. Very good atmosphere. Friendly and professional service. The village is wonderful for those who like to walk . A thousand possibilities. We will definitely come back.

Nice old pub with good food. Wish they would do smaller portions though. However they did give us doggy boxes main and they did do smaller puddings with a coffee Reasonable prices.

Great staff and atmosphere, but the food seriously needs work. Wasn't very flavoursome, and what sort of chef cuts a burger in half to check it was cooked when I was informed they're all cooked to the same temperature. Not only that, very overpriced for what it is. Overall, I won't be returning.

Beautiful pub in picturesque setting. Our waitress was lovely, the menu wide-ranging, the Sunday roast lunches were delicious and the fish cake option was well presented. The service was slow but they were busy and Sundays aren't meant to be rushed. We will return and recommend.

Disappointed poor service and dreadful food. I took my elderly dad for what I hoped would be a special treat for him. I’d asked for a quiet place and we were seated at a table in an area all on our own. Unfortunately I think this is why we were forgotten. Twice we asked at the bar for someone to take our order. Eventually they came and once again we’d to wait ages until our drinks arrived. Dad took one sip and said it was warm beer. I tasted it and it was definitely warm. After taking it to the bar they changed it. Starter was lovely but the main courses were disappointing. Dad’s fish and chips contained little fish and a lot of batter. My roast pork was dry, potatoes inedible, Yorkshire pudding rock hard and no promised stuffing! Service was dreadful. They seemed very understaffed. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Popped in for a snack, tried the pea n mint soup excellent as was naturally friendly landlord. Looking forward to our next visit.

Excellent Sunday lunch with five star service! I hadSundaylunch here today and initially chose to dine on the outside patio! Starter was prawn salad,which was delicious then my main course was roast beef,but as I was enjoying it the Heavens opened! Two waitresses immediately came out and saved the day by taking me and the roast inside to continue my meal in the dry! The beef was delicious and plentiful. I rounded off the lunch with a double espresso! Truly superb lunch with five star service!

First time visit, service was great , food was great, soufflé also great definitely one is enough for two to share. Atmosphere in the restaurant was nice however it was quite bright, also open kitchen just made the place smell of grease, we walked out smelling of it . We would go back but choose to have a meal in the bar area which was much more cosier and didn’t smell.

After a terrible experience before, thought I'd give it another try for lunch as the location is good.. Staff never fast or attentive. Ordered beef salad and it cost £17 and it was literally soaked in a glutenous out of a bottle vile sweet chili sauce that ruined the salad. Just revolting. That's not good food. The chef should be fired.

Great pub the food was delicious. Only issue was it was a long time coming .. we raised the issue and was given a substantial discount on the bill. The manager there was impeccable in his service and we will definitely return . Highly recommend for drinks and food .!

We were let down by another pub so we were accommodated at the last minute. The pub was super busy but we received very pleasant service. All our meals were lovely, I think the starters were a bit pricy but the roast was exceptional and all the mains were good. I always appreciate a coffee and a half dessert and enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. Good range of ales and in an absolutely beautiful village. Looking forward to our next visit.

The friendliness seems to have gone, no warmth, no genuine pleased to see you atmosphere. Starter wasn’t good, made a comment and I know when something doesn’t taste as it should but was palmed off with a lame excuse. Main course (mixed roast) wasn’t even warm, sent that back for it to be put in the microwave. Asked for the fish and chips but without the chips as it’s too much for my mother to finish, it’s what she wanted but we were still charged for the full meal, it’s the little things that keep me coming back and that didn’t help. Waited an age for desserts, our server asked if there was anything else we needed, he didn’t even know we hadn’t had pud, no attention to detail. To conclude, won’t be back

Family lunch booked for birthday, roast beef was raw and tough, manager thought this was funny when mentioned to him! No apology, one of our party felt unwell after eating the beef or rather chewing it for ages but unable to swallow it! Left early as atmosphere was noisy and we were in the corner where the next table couldn’t get out other than us standing and letting them past, have been here before and had terrible service and always live in hope things have changed, sadly got worse, staff attitude hit and miss, give it a miss!

A lovely country pub with lovely ambience and great friendly service. The food is very good and does not pretend to be gourmet so loses a star for presentation but is not a reflection on the quality of the food presented.

Went with friends for lunch, nice friendly staff, good menu. Starters were nice, but our mains of chicken pie with mashed potatoes 🥔 was cold, didn't want to make a scene, so put the very good hot sauce on as much mash as we could .

Later Sunday afternoon lunch. Good, service and atmosphere all very good. Good value for money ie cost reflects the quality.
