Stopped here for lunch before going to WB Studio Tour and were glad we did! Lovely historic building. Great food and generous portions. The service was attentive and the meal was good value.

Came for lunch before visiting Harry Potter studio tour and all can say is Wow! The 3 ladies working very polite and friendly service was great and food was excellent 👌 Best burger I've had for many years !

Stayed up the road in the hunton hotel and found this absolute beauty, nothing was to much for them asked for additional bits in my salad and things with no trouble what's so ever didn't even charge for the extra salad bits I wanted despite offering to, the young girl serving us was amazing so thank you lovely, we even came back for breakfast the next day and my God what a huge breakfast it was 😂 great prices lovely atmosphere, this is a traditional pub and I love it, it has now been added to our stops when we visit our son, so see you lovely lot soon thank you ladies X

A lovely building to have dinner in and very nice food to. The Hunters chicken, pork belly and pies are definitely worth the money. The staff are friendly and attentive and I will be back in the future for sure.

I went to a wake. The food would have been better with some salad. I thought there were scotch eggs but was disappointed that it was fish, not enjoyed at all.

This place was spot on food ace the steak just melted in the mouth and you get plenty. service was great it’s a must if you are in this area . I think if we go to this area again I will definitely enquire about the rooms here to check prices.

We had the best Sunday lunch here - so much food. We both had the trio of roasts, in other establishments this often means you don’t get a generous portion of any meats, but this was massive! Had to keep my Yorkshire pudding on a side plate as there simply wasn’t room

Hardest pillows in the entire world and a shower that couldn't turn on. At breakfast, we were told there was a knack to turn it on involving brute force. It had been like that for 11 years, it would appear. A nice place, but you are so letting yourselves down through a lack of paying attention to reviews and detail.

- service was amazing. Every need was met, there was little colouring pages for the kids that they gave us, and they were so quick. - food was out of this world. For the prices here, I really wasn't expecting anything amazing, but I was pleasantly surprised. A house brick sized portion of fish came out with all the trimmings, and it was beautiful. Other members of the table had a roast (also fantastic and massive for the price), a chicken burger, nachos and the kids meals. All were amazing. - drinks came quickly and were nice, all fizzy and tasted as they should. - we were here for around 1.5hrs total, but had a starter and a main for all people, and there was 6 of us so I don't think that's too bad.

Fantastic stay for my daughters 10th birthday. Staff decorated the room as a surprise for her. All staff were friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and the pub, well, nothing better than a pint infront of an open log fire. Would deffinatly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

Good food, noisy to sleep. We stayed here the night before going to the Harry Potter studio tours with our daughter. This was advertised as being close to the tour so a great place to stay. Unfortunately as I lay here in bed there is noise coming from the frequent trains and worst noise from the pub downstairs. Now, I’m a regular pub goer and understand that comes with noise but it would’ve been good to know this was the case before hand. I just thought it pertinent to explain that if you wanted a quiet night here with kids before a big day, this isn’t the stay for you.

An amazing find! Wow! We went for a late last minute lunch, as we just live around the corner! We were not starving, but when we saw what was being served around us, we were spoilt for choice!! It was packed as they had a function on but that was at the back of pub and where we were at the front, it was busy but still got a table!! They had a new beautiful rose (Provence) available which was delicious! I ordered the prawns to start and my fiancé had goats cheese salad! Both were piping hot fresh from the oven and presented beautifully and smelt and tasted delicious! Everything was FRESH! We then decided to share a burger as we were a bit full - again presentation taste and lovely and hot and it blew us away! Nothing compares to the freshness of products around this area! I have to say I have been to the Grove many times, but this place kicks them into touch! Thank you so much for such a beautiful meal, such great service and amazing atmosphere. I wish you all the best of success and that you continue the great amazing standards you have set. I will tell my friends near and far to make sure that they come and see you. Took 24 people to celebrate my daughters half marathon & late husbands birthday. Pre ordered meal beforehand. Well….. not one moan, not an order wrong and incredible food and fabulous staff. Made a nice change for nothing to go wrong these days. Will defo be going again. Fabulous day

One of the most delicious meals we have ever had!!! Absolutely scrumptious!!! Big portions, fresh produce cooked with love to perfection! And Sue is amazingly friendly, helpful and made us feel like home 💕

Amazing food and fantastic service. My wife is hard to please with regards to food she had roast cod it was fantastic. The lady who served us recommended to me either the ribs or the burger, I went for the burger and Wow! And we finished off with a mini guiness cocktail mmmm nice pleasant atmosphere, plenty of room so not cramped. Have to say the lady who served us was amazingly friendly made the evening extremely comfortable and enjoyable.

Wonderful Christmas Lunch at The King's Lodge. Great staff, great service. They did so well looking after everyone. Avoiding little boys that came running at you whilst carrying a tray load of aperitifs! Congratulations to you all. Would definitely consider coming again.

My sister and I were having our Christmas lunch. I had the Turkey. There was far too much of the main course and it was swimming in gravy. Food was good. Gravy should be served on the side.

A group Christmas dinner for more than 25, place was packed anyway. Food was hot, well cooked, tasted great and served with speed and courtesy. Great job by the staff all round. Everybody had a great time and I think we will be back next year.!!

We had the perfect stay, the staff were absolutely fantastic, welcoming and great with my little girl. She was even lucky enough to meet Santa! The room was comfortable and we all slept very well, food was great and reasonably priced and breakfast was faultless! We will be back!

I had lunch today at the Kings Lodge, The place was heaving but they still found a table for me. I can't praise the staff enough, the food is excellent as is the setting. Not easy for me to go out on my own to eat in a restaurant as an "old dear" but they made me feel comfortable. Thank you so much.

Popped in to eat after visiting Warner Brothers studios. A few great surprises on the menu. Food was great, service prompt, plenty of tables early evening on a Friday.

My husband and I booked to stay at The Kings Lodge the night before a day at Warner Bros Studios and we were pleasantly surprised. While the accommodation can be described as original with creaky flooring (rather than new or modern), the food and service was very good indeed. The proximity of the inn to Warner Bros Studios was the reason for our booking and we would return to The King's Lodge if we ever return for another Harry Potter tour.

My husband & I went for a midweek lunch & had an excellent meal. It was empty in the restaurant but warm & cosy & service was efficient & friendly. Between us we had pork belly & lamb shank & we were all very pleased with our choice. The food was piping hot & generous helpings. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Lovely pub and place to stay. Beautiful beams, comfy beds and lovely staff. Will stay again. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food.

Amazing food huge portions and great staff

I visited here for a weekday lunch with two family members. Our 3 meal choices were grilled salmon, seafood risotto, and fried whitebait with a Greek salad. All were delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the 17th century bar area where we sat was full of character and interesting historical details.

I do not recommend. Spent alot of money and hardly ate anything. Spent £6.50 on a strawberry cheesecake that was a slice of new York cheesecake with cheap strawberry sauce dizzled over. One of the servers didn't have a clue about different drink options or what half of the foods included. Overall I was not impressed with this resurant at all, way overpriced and staff didn't seem to have a clue.

We stayed at The Kings Lodge as we were off to Warner Bros Harry Potter World. We managed to park in front of the Kings Lodge, although did worry at first as it was busy on arrival. Firstly remember it is a working public house and restaurant so you do get noise from downstairs when in your room. This would probably not have bothered me usually but as we are having a fairly hot June, I am struggling to sleep on the best of days, the noise was noticeable when trying to sleep. On the whole I loved this place. I loved the quirkiness and the history of the place. They had some really old decor from the fire place to the ceiling. We felt welcomed on arrival and throughout the stay. Food wasn’t included in the price of the room. We had dinner there on the Friday and Breakfast on Saturday, price was on par with most pub/restaurants I have recently been to. Well my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly. My husband and I shared the Fish Sharing Platter to start, for mains I had the seafood linguine (I couldn’t finish mine) and my husband had chicken n cheese burger and chips. Our daughter had child’s garlic bread to start, burger and chips as main, and chocolate cake for dessert. I couldn’t fault the food, beautifully cooked and very tasty. I enjoyed sitting in the garden for our breakfast on the Saturday morning. Again another fabulous meal kept us all going until we had tea at Harry Potter World. The bedroom was clean and tidy. Nice deep bath. Shower water came from the tap faucet, easy enough to use. Bedding was very clean. Beds were comfy - hubby and daughter both appeared to sleep well. I struggled but that was more to do with the heat. Slept a lot better on the Saturday night which appeared a lot cooler. We enjoyed our stay. My daughter loved the few Harry Potter nik naks about the place and the ornamental animals in the garden. If we are in the area again we will definitely be popping in again. Keep up the fab hospitality, good food and kindness we received.

Having frequented The Kings Lodge over many years with various owners I can safely say this was the worst meal we have had there. We arrived a bit later than normal and as it was Mothers Day expected it to be busy and we were hungry. We both ordered a Sunday roast. It arrived quite quickly for a Sunday roast and then it became obvious why. The meal was a reheat. The potatoes were passable, the Yorkshire puddings were tough, not light and fluffy. My lamb was extremely fatty nd didn’t really taste of lamb and my husbands chicken was so dry and over cooked. The meat was only warmed by the volume of gravy and meat juice mix that it had been smothered in which wasn’t particularly tasty. The only saving grace were the vegetables which were freshly cooked. As I said we were hungry so ate what we could rather than make an issue of it. When asked what we thought we explained that we were disappointed and gave the reasons and said we were not asking for money off or anything just giving feedback. We were then told we were the first to complain and we should have done during the meal and everyone else had enjoyed their meal and the previous politeness stopped . We asked for the bill (which took longer to arrive than our meal) we paid in full and left.

My parents came here for many years , unfortunately we lost my mum in December and as a family decided to have our wake here. From start to finish the staff penny especially has been so lovely and caring and very helpful. All the staff actually. Always responding to my messages and being very helpful. Couldn’t do enough for us all. Thank you for making our day memorable for the family and for dad. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos on this dad sad but we have this website to let you know how great the area was and the food was lovely and fresh. Thank you all again . Lynn

Went there for breakfast was greeted by a nice lady and taken to a table then told to help ourselves to tea and coffee and juice which I assumed was in with the price of the breakfast but it wasn’t and it was put in our bill so a bit misleading we ordered our breakfast and it was a long wait I don’t know why as it was empty in there when it arrived it look great and the quality of the food was high it tasted good but my egg was underdone so I left that 2 breakfasts came to £17 which I thought was a bit pricey . As I looked around I did notice the place was very dusty with lots of cobwebs I think the place needs a deep clean overall I would give 9/19 for the food

Popped in for a snack at the end of lunchtime so there was plenty of space. Covid requirements (sanitiser, register, one way system and table distancing) fine. Had a pot of tea and a snack size bubble and squeak. The food was delicious and hot. A pattie of soft and homely bubble and squeak was gently caramelised and topped with delicious crisp, salt and sweet bacon, a delicious runny poached egg and delicious hollandaise sauce. Lovely building and pub for drinks however the garden was unusable for dinner as the flys won’t leave you alone. The food was substandard pub grub the meal was tasteless and properly cooked from frozen. Glad I paid half price on the eat out to help out deal as it was overpriced at full price. Dog friendly bar with decent food, beer priced sensibly too. Couldn't comment on the state of accommodation, but they're very conveniently placed for those visiting the Harry Potter studios, something that's reflected in the selection of some of the decor.

This is one of my favourite places to go for lunch with friends. Traditional, well-cooked food at very reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Very highly recommended.
