We went for a meal last night for my birthday. Very nice young man waiting on tables, taking orders, bringing food out, serving behind the bar in fact he had to do everything except cook. He was on his own but coped really well. He was very attentive and chatted to everyone luckily being a Monday evening it wasn’t too busy. Food was nice but dessert was a bit of a disaster everything we asked for they didn’t have not his fault he was very apologetic. Clearly the manager needs to keep an eye on what is going on in his pub. There should never be one member of staff on their own trying to do everything. Well done to the lovely young man who kept the customers happy.

Beers good, foods good, bar staff are better than good. A thoroughly good pub to go for lunch, a drink or a meal. eaten both starters and mains here and never been disappointed. The beer selection on tap is very good. A great little garden area for kids, or outside areas for adults. Plenty of choice to sit and eat or drink inside too

Came here for a spot of Sunday dinner, never been before but having driven past it’s beautiful setting thought we’d give it a try, I had roast beef with all the trimmings, husband had duck in Mango sauce with crispy sprouts. Delicious food, both dishes so tasty, tender thin slices of beef but lots of them, perfectly cooked duck, if you like it ever so slightly pink like us. Weren’t waiting long, friendly staff anlways making sure you’re ok and seeing if you need a top up etc. Overall - definately will be coming back, you get some spot on fresh food cooked by someone who knows their stuff and not a microwave. Couldn’t fault todays meal or service

Nice pub, very helpful and friendly staff with excellent service. Went for a Sunday roast, it was decent but not amazing. Had the lamb which was nice and not fatty at all, veg were overcooked and a bit soggy. Roast spuds were great (nice and crispy) Yorkshire pudding was OK. The gravy (which was ample plus they give you extra) had a lovely rich flavour, but was so salty it spoilt it. I like well seasoned food, but this was too much. Would definitely go back but would not have the roast again. One member on our table had the fish and chips and it looked wonderful. The potholes driving in also need sorting out (but no fault of the pub)

Visited here yesterday at lunchtime for the first time. The pub was absolutely freezing and all the tables were dirty and sticky (presumably from the night before and had not been cleaned) we had to ask the waitress to clean the table, which she did poorly and we had to move to another less filthy table. Surprisingly the food served was good, although my dish came served on a chipped plate. The place needs a lot of care and attention, unfortunately I would not visit again.

We ended our hike around the Chess River at what seemed to be a quiet yet beautiful pub. On entering the place and requesting a table for 5, we realised that the staff aren’t as welcoming towards and comfortable serving people of colour. We were seated right at the back of this pub, segregated carefully so as to not be seated alongside the other (none of colour, btw) patrons. Ofcourse, we did give people the benefit of the doubt but we chose to walk out after careful consideration, without ordering -in front of the staff. Perhaps the first such instance of racism, I experienced in my 2 years of being in London. Kudos to the team at the Coach and Horses for this wonderful feat :)

A lovely friendly pub. Very popular with the locals of Croxley Green but you’re made to feel very welcome on arrival. Seating outside front garden & also out the back garden which is nice, but over looks the car park. The car park can get full at peak times but not normally a problem to find somewhere local to park. Dogs are allowed both inside & outside and on the few occasions we have visited there has always been many dogs here. The vibe seems really chill & relaxed. Food is good, I always go for the superfood salad as it’s simply the most amazing thing which sounds strange for a salad but it’s amazing!

There were 10 of us for a sunday roast. We were sat in the garden lovely day. We had to keep ordering our drinks because they never turned up! Really disappointed in our visit. The garden desperately needs updating. I ordered the roast beef and the beef was inedible, thick slices and overcooked I couldn’t even cut it and it was drowned in gravy. The potatoes, Yorkshire and stuffing were not freshly made. My wife and I were part of a 20-strong Walking Group which arranged for lunch at this pub after our group walking event, this location in the past being a regular venue for such events at this time of year. Prior to the start of the walk at 10.15 the manager was given the choices required from the lunch menu, to be provided from 12.30. At this time it was made clear that our own personal selections should be made available immediately we arrived (which was indeed at 12.30) due to the fact that we had an urgent appointment in London during the afternoon. When we arrived we made it clear to the bar waitress once again that our meal should be served asap and before any of the others so that we could get away quickly. At 13.10 when nothing had arrived I spoke to the manager who was completely disinterested in the matter, not even offering to go to the kitchen to find out the reason for the delay. At 13.20 my wife spoke again to the manager who replied that the chef was plating-up all the meals which was totally at varience with what we had requested on three occassions. His only solution was far from apologizing for the extreme delay to us and all the other members of our party and taking action to speed-up delivery of the orders, but to offer a refund for our own meals which we were by then unable to have due to lack of time. We left the pub at 13.30 at which time not a single part of the orders for the remaining customers in our party had been delivered even though they had been pre-ordered at 10.15 that morning and confirmed at 12.30! What we found the most insulting was the manager's complete lack of interest or apology for failing to provide a level of service to be expected at any restaurant. As far as we are concerned we shall not grace this venue again and I doubt if the Walking Group will do so either. If such behaviour and lack of interest in customers' welfare, especially for a party of 20 customers for a mid-week lunch, is of no concern to the owner of this business, then its future as a viable and profitable enterprise is surely in serious question.

I was with a large group of friends who had pre-ordered our food to avoid having to wait too long but we still had to wait nearly an hour for the food to be served after we arrived and bought drinks. When it arrived my meal of loaded fries was substantial but it was spoilt by being too salty and the addition of bacon didn't help. The chips were covered with chilli sauce which made them very soggy. I also had a bit of macaroni in with the chips which I suspect belonged in another dish. Overall a disappointing experience which was surprising considering other times we have dined there and found no problem. I'm not sure we will be going back there.

Our 17 strong walking group came for lunch after a bluebell walk - we chose our meals and gave in the list of what we wanted at 10 a.m., advising them we would be there at 12.30 to eat. Even though this had been the arrangement when we made our booking, the male staff member told us unpleasantly we should have told them our order days before. A number of pies had been ordered by walkers, and although our phone no was given to them we were not advised that these were not available until we returned to the pub and we then had to make another choice. One couple had asked to be served first as they wanted to leave by 1.30. Although they had been told at 10 am this would be fine, 45 minutes after arriving to eat no food had come out so they made an enquiry and the male bar staff was very offhand, bordering on rudeness, and said the kitchen was too busy to prepare their meals first. They left without eating. The rest of us waited an hour before any food appeared, even though they had our order at 10 a.m. and knew we would be there to eat at 12.30 pm. At least 6 of the main meals were not nice at all and 2 inedible. The fish and chips were so overcooked the batter could not be cut - they offered to cook another but after waiting another 20 minutes, our friend left and the replacement fish and chips came out another 10 minutes later. The staff did not seem to care less that things had been so unsatisfactory - it’s such a shame as they have a large restaurant which should be able to cater for a big group and our walking group has used the Coach and Horses before having made arrangements with a very pleasant lady, who wasn’t there at this time unfortunately! We will not be using this pub again.

After many a good meal at this pub, I have to now report that our last visit was not a good one. We went for a nice roast dinner ( or so I thought it would be ) placed our order, when our food arrived, I had ordered the roast chicken. It arrived I proceeded to cut into the chicken to find that it wasn't not cooked properly. I called the waiter over and explained that it wasn't quite cooked. He took my plate away. Leaving my husband's and sons dinner. The manageress returned quickly to our table and said " the thing is with our chicken we check it with a thermometer. So it is good". I explained that the thermometer does not tell you when it is cooked. It only tells you it's hot. Although many people refer to this as a good method for telling when something is cooked. However after cutting into it you could clearly tell that it wasn't cooked. After I said this I was asked with attitude " want something else then". After this response I said no and we will be leaving. We gathered our belongings and proceeded to exit. Where as we left, disgusting looks were given to us by the staff gathered around the bar. I stated to them that we would not be returning. In this current climate you would think that customer service would be of a great importance, and food should be cooked for customers. Especially as the catering industry is apparently struggling. My husband is a fully qualified chef and he would never of sent this uncooked food out, and certainly would not of given attitude, when it wasn't upto their normal standard, or for that matter an edible standard. Disappointing and disgraceful. We will not be back.

Saved the day! After the coach & horses in Rickmansworth messed around with a booking made 3 weeks prior we called up the one in croxley and they were able to take our booking with just an hours notice. The staff were super friendly and they looked after us well. The beer garden is kid and dog friendly too 👍

I have ordered from costa twice, and unfortunately both times they have forgotten to bring my food, and only brough my drink. Very disappointing.
