Very very bland experience. Ordered a lot of different food items and nothing was spectacular or even remotely close to average. So disappointed. Ridiculously priced too. £7 for a poxy naan. It’s insulting. Went for a birthday dinner and spent so much money only to be fed food with average/below average flavour

Experienced a wonderfully tasteful (and very filling) afternoon tea here. Not your standard afternoon tea menu... This one was so much better. There was a great selection of sweet and savoury treats, which were included from their non-veggie, veggie and vegan menus. Excellent service from the staff too. My tea remained hot and topped up most of the time. ☕🍰 =⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A beautiful hotel with excellent 5 star service from friendly and professional staff. This was my first visit but I shall definitely be returning again and will be recommending to family and friends.

Pricey for food that was average at best. Portion sizes are tiny for what you are paying. Tea service was rushed and we were only given 2 hours to enjoy our tea. Had to also wait 50 mins for food. Needs a little improvement to meet Grove standards.

Went for the high chai at the grove madhus. It was fantastic and the service was exceptionally good. Would like to recommend Salma who was excellent. The masala chai was to die for. The portion size was thought of really well and I was stuffed with everything and had actually left out two things which they kindly packed for me.

We had an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The service was great, the food was fine, the interior of the restaurant is top notch as expected of the Grove. There was no extra clean plate for the scones, we weren’t given little spoons for the desserts/ cakes. Scones were warm and soft, very good. But we weren’t given fruit scones which was odd, only plain scones provided. The sandwiches were ok, the little toasts and pies were good, and the dessert was lovely. The Vegetarian option was better than I expected. The Chicken Samosa was really tasty. Quality of food could be better as it was pretty pricey, £45 per person with extra service charge. Overall it’s good. Thank you.

Afternoon tea: I was expecting a much more higher standard of service we were not provided with any dessert spoons. I am expecting so requested a cushion on the gentleman that was serving us had to go and ask permission! Also the food was very basic considering it was high chai experience, the masala chai was bitter like it was brewing for a long time. If you’re after a relaxing afternoon tea experience this is not the place very loud and you can barely hear the person next to you. The only thing you can top up is the scones basket you get one masala sandwhich serving and the rest of the tea is basic sandwiches etc that you can not top up.

Absolutely rubbish. Afternoon tea was a tasteless experience. Sandwiches worse than Supermarket sandwiches Indian flavours completely missing from the experience. Toilets worse than train station.

Quality venue mainly as it is in the Grove hotel grounds. Excellent service. Food wise - they are trying their luck - totally sub par taste to the afternoon tea!

One star experience at the five star “High chai” at Madhu’s at the Grove, Rickmansworth Honestly, I’m struggling to decide where to start with the details of our evening! It was a nightmare experience! The food was extremely disappointing and didn’t give any vibe of a five star restaurant. Forget about five star, I’m pretty sure that a local cafe would have offered a much better afternoon tea than what we served yesterday. The tea was cold and tandoori chai had no flavour! Sandwiches were minuscule and the wrap felt dry with minimal filling. I should have actually taken a picture of my friend’s wrap, it literally had NO FILLING - it seemed as if she was served edges of a long wrap in which the chef recklessly forgot to fill out the edges and didn’t bother checking that there we were served empty shells made out of wraps. The desserts were revolting! Dry, tasteless and lukewarm mango sundae that seemed to have been left out of the fridge for a long time before they were served to us. The chocolate cake bites felt stale! There were no flavours in any of the items of the afternoon tea. The only saving grace was palak patta chaat that seemed to have some flavour, although I’ve eaten much better chaat in other places. Another low point of the evening was our table which was next to a window - the breeze wafted the stench of a sewer which made a few of us really queasy! The food had left us so disgruntled and had quashed our hopes so much that we had no interest in mentioning the stench to anyone! We just wanted to eat whatever little was edible and leave! When my sister complained about the dirty ladies room, she was confronted by one of staff members about the washroom being spotless when the staff member had checked straight after my sister had used the facilities. She also challenged my sister by inviting to show her why she felt issues with the cleanlines but my sister blatantly refused to accompany the staff member because clearly, their standards of cleanliness were way lower than what we would normally expect in a good restaurant. So we just felt it would be vain to get into any unnecessary squabble with a discourteous staff member! By then, we’d already made up our minds that we weren’t ever returning to the restaurant. All in all, it was a second-rate experience and I don’t think I would recommend to any of my friends or family. However I would want to mention here that the busser/server assigned to our table helped with ensuring that our dietary needs were met but he couldn’t have made the food and ambience any better for us. I would give one star rating because of the service otherwise I would give zero rating to the overall experience!!

Top place for classy Indian! Ask took care of us. Thank you for our family dinner

We had dinner here whilst we stayed at The Grove. We were given the option of table at 6.30pm or 8pm with a 2 hour slot. We opted for 6.30pm. When we went in and also when we left half of the tables were empty. So we didn't understand the 2 hour slot squeeze. The service was fine but the food was basic especially considering the price of the dishes.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Madhus tasting menu at The Grove Hotel, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary journey. What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service provided by Hind and Salma. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. Hind and Salma went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect, from their attentiveness to their extensive knowledge of the menu. Now, let's talk about the food. Each course was a masterpiece, showcasing the richness and depth of Indian cuisine. The journey began with the Avocado & Mango Chutney accompanied by Poppadoms & Dips, setting the stage for what was to come. The second course featured a delightful array of Tandoori Salmon, Murgh Malai Tikka, and Lamb Chop, all served with a refreshing Minted Mango Salad. The flavours were vibrant, and the presentation was impeccable. Next, we were treated to a palate-cleansing Passion Fruit Sorbet before indulging in the Royal Thali. This quintessential Indian platter, featuring Murgh Makhani, Lamb Roganjosh, Prawn Moilee, and Dal Makhani, accompanied by Raita, Rice, Pickle, Salad & Mini Tandoori Naan, was a true feast fit for royalty. It was fascinating to learn that Madhu’s Royal Thali was commissioned for HRH King Charles's event at Windsor Castle, adding a touch of regality to our dining experience. To conclude the meal, we savored the Gajar Halwa & Almond Kulfi. The sweet halwa made from carrots, milk & cream, paired perfectly with the almond cream and Indian ice cream, leaving us with a lingering sense of satisfaction. Oh yes, let's not forget about Dark Chocolate Cremeux I think it was what we had which was simply divine. In summary, Madhus at The Grove Hotel offers not only an exquisite tasting menu but also a dining experience characterized by impeccable service and attention to detail. Hind and Salma's hospitality truly enhanced our evening, making it one to remember. I highly recommend Madhus for anyone seeking a culinary adventure infused with elegance and charm.

We had a great Valentine's day dinner at Madhu's. Absolutely the best Indian restaurant we've been. We'll definitely recommend. Great and staff and atmosphere. Plenty of parking. The only thing I would suggest is improving the entrance door. It fooled us thinking its a side door or something.

Overall great. Madhus are always nice places.. I just don't like to sit too close to people and found that on this occasion. Apart from that .. top notch

On our doorstep but this was our first visit, great service and food, and overall a lovely experience, if a bit of a treat. We had the six course tasting menu, but will go back to try the main menu quite soon. Only two small issues, the entrance is outside of the hotel and we missed the door as it looks more like a service entrance when closed, needs better lighting and signage. One of our party later complained of feeling bloated, and not felt like that for a long time (since visiting an Asian eat all you can buffet) so may not be directly a consequence of Madhu. Will be back to check with different menu selection.

I had a wonderful experience at Madhus after booking to celebrate my husbands birthday. The service was fantastic. We were served by Jaswant, and he was incredibly attentive, professional and friendly. The food was amazing! I would highly recommend the chilli paneer and robata chops. Nothing could be faulted. This meal was our first time bringing our newborn to a restaurant, and the staff were lovely and ensured we had sufficient space for a pram and provided hot water to allow us to feed her too. Overall, I'd visit here again in a heartbeat and could not recommend it more. A huge thank you to Jaswant, for the fantastic service and helping us feel at ease on our first evening out with our baby!

The staff were unbelievably caring especially as the table was running late. I am gluten free and they were caring and on the ball to ensure I was served with the gluten free accompaniments similar to what others were served who had no allergies. Cannot fault anything about the service received. Salma, Hind and the other staff made it a very special evening for my husbands birthday

Nice place to celebrate or dine in on important occasions and meetings. Nice food. Only one issue, you cannot order a Thali for yourself unless everyone on the table orders a Thali.

Delicious Six Coarse Festive Tasting Menu. Has been refurbished to beautiful and relaxing environment.

There are local curry houses serving similar or better food for literally half the price. None of the dishes were mind blowing which is what I'd expect at this price. You are paying for the atmosphere, and I don't think that's good value.

We booked madhus for a special occasion I called ahead to advise the restaurant. Although the staff were wonderful especially mansi I found the manager arrogant and who didn't even have the time or courtesy to wish my wife a happy birthday .. He certainly had time to see every non Indian customer and serve their table. When my wife aired her disappointment and dissatisfaction he became obnoxious and didn't accept his short comings.. just disgraceful

Overpriced and average food, average service, not worth it.

Went as part of a large group. Service was fantastic, incredibly attentive and sociable. Food was on another level. This, I believe, is true authentic Indian cuisine. All the dishes throughout the meal were perfect - incredible flavours and balance with spices. It's not a cheap meal, but it's fine dining at a very high standard. I would highly recommend a visit.

Disappointed with our visit to Madhu's. The food remains good but the service was definitely less attentive and warm than our past visits. Our table for 2, stuck in the middle of the floor in very very close proximity to other unfortunate couples made for an uncomfortable experience which afforded no privacy or relaxation. Being next to the constantly busy kitchen door made things even worse. Always a bad feeling when you go for a treat and then pay premium prices for a below average evening. Please don't cram the patrons in because they won't come back!

Love Madhu's at The Grove! Been twice for celebrations and each time the staff has made the evening special. On my last trip, Vishal, our waiter was extremely professional and took the time to make us feel welcomed and explained each of the dishes. Definitely recommend the tasting menu as the food is truly delicious and of high quality. Will definitely return again at some point in time!

We are extremely lucky that Mahdu’s opened a few years ago at the Grove and has maintained its excellent standard. The menu is interesting and creative, the food is delicious and the service is exceptional. They are respectful and attentive to food allergies and are always willing to adapt dishes to accommodate our tastes.

What a shame! This had the potential to be amazing, the venue is beautiful and the food was good but the service is short of 5 star. We went for a 40th birthday and the service was shocking, waiting to be served, poured out on drinks and waiting on between courses. It’s not worth the money, we sat in the private dining room and it’s like they forgot about us.

A really terrible experience at Madhu’s. We booked it for my father’s 60th birthday. The staff were inattentive, always having to call them over for water top ups or further orders. The food itself was extremely disappointing. We ordered all vegetarian items some of which were too spicy to eat. The raitha was just plain yogurt with a few pieces of cucumber - no spices or salt. One of the rice orders was cold. And to top it off, they had forgotten to place birthday balloons on the table which we’d dropped off in advance, and half way through our meal, a waiter remembered and brought them over. Embarrassing! Oh and we had to ask 3 times for the cake to be brought at the end of our meal to 2 different waiters. The bill was £300 and the food, service or atmosphere (we were in the back room which is basic and uninviting), was simply not worth it.

We were invited here for a birthday party the food wad Indian so started off with Kebabs chicken mogo and a mixed chat. This was followed by Rogan gosh a cooked chicken dish nans a veg ladies fingers rice and yoghurt this was then followed by a dessert of cake carrot halwa and kulfi. We had a private room so could play music extra. The service was good.

Further to my initial enquiry, I was expecting a 5 star experience for my party of 5. The evening didn’t disappoint. This was an amazing experience that we all look forward to repeating.

We got a last minute reservation as due to the rains the outdoor reservation with another restaurant did not work out.. the food, service , ambience was excellent.. the spices were as per the Indian pallet . We mainly had vegetarian food but what ever we called for was delicious

Not often I give this sort of review. The whole experience was absolutely brilliant. The food was fantastic . The service was second to none. The atmosphere was conducive to enjoying a wonderful meal with ones family without the ridiculous loud voices and laughter associated with some places I have visited. Everything from the starters to the dessert was exquisite. Every dish prepared and presented meticulously . The cocktails were simply wonderful. The blend of flavours were handled by a true professional. I would definitely recommend this place. A big thank you to the staff for making this such a memorable visit. And my compliments to the management as well.

The food and service at madhus Watford was fantastic - Jagjit Singh was our waiter and his customer service skills were outstanding, also the girls at the front desk gave us a very warm welcome. Thank you to to team at madhus the grove.

We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary here at Madhu’s at The Grove. It was an impeccable meal coupled with fabulous service from the wonderful manager Jeet who always treats us like family. The renovations are simply stunning. Always a treat eating fine Indian cuisine in a luxurious setting.

For a 5 star hotel I cannot believe how rude the staff at Madhus restaurant are. I booked a reservation for Madhus and I was told on the day that my reservation had to be cancelled due to a fault on their website. Fair enough, these things happen. But then they charged me £60 without my consent, I called up to get a refund which would take 5 working days to get back. I put in some feedback to say they should inform me before charging me because it was an unauthorised transaction considering we were planning to make our reservation. I then received a phone call from Madhus from a lady who was shouting down the phone at me saying I should have never put my card details on the site as I would have not been charged. She continuously shouted at me, when all I was doing was providing feedback on the matter. I have never experienced such rude behaviour from a member of staff and I believe this member of staff needs customer service training. It is now at the point where I never want to visit the grove again because of how disgraceful the member of staff was. All I was doing was providing feedback as she should have warned me about the transaction but instead she started arguing with me. This member of staff rang me up just to argue with me and shout down the phone, saying I should have not put my card details on the site and that this is how the system works, she would not take my point of view in consideration and she just escalated the situation. I had to tell her I did not want to argue in which she proceeded to shout at me more. Absolutely shocked at the disgusting service. Never in my whole life have I been treated like this from a member of staff. I would stay well clear from Madhus and The Grove for their appalling service.

Had a great time today for lunch, well done Vishal and the team for a great experience. Really think you should open lunch times both Saturday and Sundays to attract customers from outside the area. We travelled from Thurrock especially, but would never have made the trip during the week, so your Sunday lunch opening was great for us. We visited Madhu's at the Grove, having been once before. We came with our son, for our wedding anniversary and we wanted an experience to remember. Sadly it was an experience to remember, but for the wrong reasons. Firstly, when we arrived we ordered, and we wanted to start by ordering our starters and our son's meal. The waiter was unwilling to allow us to simply order starters and requested that we order mains as well. We prefer not to do this as we don't know how full we will be after starters. However we were not allowed to do this. The waiter also asked whether our son would be having a two of three course meal. I've never been asked anywhere, at the start of the meal whether I'm having dessert or not. We already felt rushed at that point. Our wine and starters arrived, and after initially having our wine poured our waiter seemed unwilling or unable to continue to replenish our glasses. We had to continually make eye contact to access our drink. Our main courses came , again as quickly as the starters arrived. After finishing and requesting that the food be packed for us we ordered dessert. The main course was adequate, but nothing special, and certainly not as expected bearing in mind the cost. Throughout the meal my wife could see the hostess constantly asking the waiting staff as to which table was to be free next, and he indicated ours. This was before dessert had arrived. We ate our dessert, gajur halva, which again was not of the standard that we would expect bearing in mind the venue and cost. At this point we had been at our table for 1 hour and 25 minutes, and we knew we had it for 2 hours. As the waiter was clearing away our dessert (having again previously failed to replenish our glasses), he asked in an arrogant manner as to whether we wanted to order anything else as he needed the table back. We still had 35 minutes and we wanted to enjoy the occasion of being there. He could have asked whether we wanted coffee or a digestif, but no, it felt like we were being turned out. We challenged him on this and he became very defensive, saying that no, he didn't actually need the table back. If that's the case, why did he ask? If we had been at the table for 1 hour 55 minutes that would have made sense. But to have over 30 minutes left was very insulting. After a while we requested the bill, which was wrong. This was rectified and we paid and left. We were so disappointed. This was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience spent together as a family. Instead we felt rushed and stressed, and angry about how the waiter had treated us. If we wanted to go to a fast food joint we would have done that. The food was adequate, nothing special and the service appalling, especially bearing in mind the cost. If you are going to charge the prices that you do they need to be backed up by the kitchen and front of house. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Our experience was equally excellent and disappointing. The excellent bits were mainly the food. My chilli paneer starter was probably the best version of paneer I have had. My partners vegetable samosa was delicious. Main course massala fish - the fish was excellent but the sauce was too hot for me (the menu states all curries are cooked "medium" but this was definitely above that). Likewise the chicken methi which was even hotter and the chicken was gristly. The service was very friendly but for the top end of the market that they are aiming at it was lacking. Our used cutlery was not replaced between courses and despite asking for a knife it never materialised and we had to take one from a nearby table. Our wine was placed in an ice bucket 2 tables away and we had to ask for top up. In the end we just got the bottle ourselves. The decor is very plush and comfortable. We were sat near the front entrance and had a cold draught every time the door opened. The background music was a strange choice - a disco vibe and not totally background. So ultimately we were disappointed and at £140 for dinner for 2 with wine we did not get the value we would have expected.

Came here for my dads birthday and really loved the service from Amil and Hind, very professional. Amazing food, very authentic, would definitely recommend and will be coming back again soon

This restaurant is beautiful. The interior is amazing and then of course the food is 10/10. I ordered the lamb chops and they were cooked so well. Amil the waiter delivered exceptional service and made sure we enjoyed our visit. Hind the manager was very welcoming and very friendly made you feel comfortable and delighted to be in the restaurant. I definitely will visit again.

Had a fantastic evening with the team at Madhu’s this week! 12 of us had the tasting menu for a business meeting, and the night went perfectly. Whilst planning the dinner we were looked after by Hind, who was responsive and careful to understand exactly what we needed. On the night Vishal was an absolute gentleman, great with the guests, and predicted everything we needed! Salma looked after us as well and was brilliant! Together the team made this a perfect evening, and I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a relaxed dinner with excellent food for a large group

The food was great. The sharing platter was a nice way of tasting a variety of foods, and the mains were good both in portion size and taste. I would highly recommend the paneer. My main feedback is the lack of consistency in music style. To match the location, I’d suggest more subtle background music. There are moments in your playlist which don’t really match the environment. It was pricey, but would recommend it for a special occasion.

We were looking forward for our dinner at Madhus at the grove as we have heard so much about it and of course because we love Indian food. We were greeted and seated by a very nice lady at the reception. However it took them 40 mins or more to come and take our initial order and we had our 2 year old and did emphasise we need to be quick with his food. The food took such a long time to arrive but luckily we still had the popaddums. Other than the nice lady at the reception we didn’t like anything else, the food was ok not really worth the price we paid.

Visited Madhu’s for the first time and loved everything from the ambiance to food to service. We tried a full platter as suggested by Amil for the starters and instantly became a fan! Special shout-out to Amil and Ayran for the best service!! Must visit!!

We booked Madhus at The Grove to celebrate my niece’s birthday, From the minute we entered the restaurant, the hostess greeted us with a big smile and she was very welcoming, told us that the table is getting ready, the lady was very apologetic although we were 10 minutes early. She then took us to our table, our waiter Vishal introduced himself and said he would look after our table. The food was just absolutely delicious with various options for everyone they have plenty vegetarian and vegan options. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food and wants to feel special. Well done to all the team for making my niece feel so special on her birthday.

We visited Madhu's at The Grove for dinner and had a wonderful meal with family. The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful, with a great vibe and stunning interiors. The food and service were exemplary, just as would be expected from Madhu's. We had the Tasting Menu which I highly recommend. The Jeera Scallop and Tandoori Salmon starters are amazing and taste even better when accompanied by the drinks pairing. For the main course the Baingan Bhartha and Saag Gosht were outstanding dishes. The naan was soft and fluffy and beautifully complimented the dishes. When it came to dessert, the Gajjar Halwa and Badam Kulfi were to die for - an absolute must have! Overall it was an exceptional evening with phenomenal food and outstanding and attentive service. Thank you Madhu's!

One of the Indian Restaurants in London (along with all other Madhu's restaurants). If you want top quality Indian food, exquisite service and incredible ambience, this the only place to go. The restaurant is made up of several grand dining rooms and the decor is beautiful. The menu is made up of typical Madhu's tandoori dishes, along with some delicious twists on Punjabi classics. Try their Palak Chaat starter and thank me later!
