We were a walking group of 28 and from booking to actually eating, the service was excellent. Kate was super friendly and very accommodating. We had lots of compliments from our fellow walkers, lots of clean plates. Would definitely recommend.

Love this pub. Always so accommodating. We only go for drinks every week and sometimes to eat, but over time we have got to know the sta and then us. Could 100% recommend. Well worth a visit

A rather disappointing experience. Although the food was good (the pie was excellent) the experience,in total, was rather disappointing. Have had food that was as good in other pubs but they also provided table service. Although we were given a table in the restaurant it was bar service only. Service was pleasant enough but a little lacklustre. We were not told, until we asked to order puddings, that the chef went home mid afternoon! Have been to other local pubs that gave table service and a full menu with similarly priced food. The food was good but the overall experience means we won’t be back in a hurry.

Huge portions of good Sunday Roast served with a smile; genuine “Pub” vibe. Lovely location with lots of good walking from the pub.

Very disappointing. Fish off the menu and a few other things too. Two of us had Welsh Rarebit. Think the sourdough was low quality and just a scrapping of cheese - possibly cheese spread?

Sorry but a very poor experience. NOT down to the two front of house staff I hasten to add, who were doing their best in a dismal situation. Several dishes were off the menu for a start: these happened to be the very ones we selected. The welsh rarebit, our third choice, tasted horrible and definitely did not match the description given on the menu. We were given a full refund, but won't be going again.

Really really good Mother’s day lunch today. Food was top drawer. Charlie’s service was superb. Callum was so considerate and attentive.

Had an amazing Mothers Day Lunch at the Cock Inn this week… came home from university to see my family and couldn’t book anywhere and luckily the staff, Charlie in particular were really helpful and luckily managed to squeeze us in. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, as well as amazing food and a great atmosphere - 10/10 would recommend!!

Had a great meal here for mothersday and despite being a large group (of 12) all the staff ( Callum and Charlie) were super attentive and accommodating of dietary restrictions. The roast was a great portion size and the Chicken and leek Pie was delish. What a great cozy country pub to visit on a rainy Sunday. Thanks to the team (sorry we didn’t catch all your names) who made us so welcome! We will certainly be back.

Been to this lovely country pub/eatery a number of times so time to review. After a good walk from Chorleywood via a country walk, we walked in to a lovely welcome and a place in the restaurant, via a warm log fire. Fantastic staff at both the bar and restaurant . Many thanks to Nick, Kate and the crew for a most enjoyable lunch. 34 of us took over the Tipi after a beautiful local walk. From the outset Nick had been accommodating, responsive and obliging, offering us a comprehensive menu within our budget. The meal itself was delicious, the service slick and the waiting staff friendly and attentive. The Tipi is a great addition and came into its own during a short downpour which saw other diners rushing for cover! The event was deemed a success by all and we will definitely be back!

I had lunch here today and noticed the licencee has had new garden playground items fitted for the younger visitors! The garden is delightful with a tipi in case of inclement weather. There is new garden/picnic furniture to boot which is much more comfortable and easier accessed tor visitors of a certain age!The pub is ideally situated on the edge of the village of Sarratt,great for walkers in the surrounding beautiful area.the food served is very tasty and served by waiting staff with a lovely cheery smile on their faces! In all a delightful place to recharge your batteries and enjoy a meal in a very convivial atmosphere! Very well worth a visit,I can assure you!

The pub is very nice and welcoming and the walking routes around it are unbeatable. The food and the service was impeccable, I had ‘the classic burger’ and it was the best burger I’ve ever had. Called to book a table and told they weren’t taking bookings despite it being for lunch on Father’s Day. Assured that they have a large garden and plenty of tables. Got there only to be told there’s no room at the inn without a booking! They finally agreed to let us sit at the many many empty tables in the garden and order lunch, which then took over an hour to be served. Food only just ok. Servers pleasant. Perhaps they also need to rethink their serving dishes as the poor staff trying to carry wooden chopping boards with a burger on it as well as a ramekin of coleslaw and a basket of chips struggled with a fair few ending up on the floor

I had lunch at this lovely pub,yesterday. It is in an enviable position on the edge of Sarratt,ideal for the walking fraternity! The service was slick and the food was lovely. I thoroughly recommend this pub!

We prebooked a table for a roast after a long country walk! The pork belly and lamb roasts were gorgeous. Amazing portions, but it was so good we could have eaten it again! Outdoor garden is a great size, and the marquee is decorated beautifully. You have to order through a window hut, no table or app service which was the only downside, but the queue wasn’t longer than 10 mins, and the food came out very quickly!! We will definitely be revising for another walk and roast:)

Visited for Sunday Lunch after an amazing walk in the area. One of the best pub lunches in ages and definitely the most pleasant experience since reopening. The food was great, the service was light touch but friendly and it felt safe and clean. A really nice environment for our dog too. He loved the chips. The veggie Sunday lunch was huge and looked great, and I had the superfood salad which was way better than expected. Possibly you could increase the options to add on top of the salad to include squid or Halloimi or something for those that don't eat meat, but to be honest the salad didn't need it and it was perfect on it own. Thank you so much! Can't wait to come back.

Sat in the restaurant for lunch which was great, service was very friendly and helpful then stayed for a drink in the Sun in the lovely large garden. Would definitely recommend as a beautiful English Country Pub.

This was our first visit to The Cock Inn at Sarratt. The Car Park was nearly full, but there were lots of spaces in the second Car Park. It is obviously very popular with cyclists. We had booked our lunch in the good-sized, beamed Restaurant as we hadn't realised the weather would be so good, but most people ate outside in the large garden. The Menu was varied. We had a lovely four-course meal with a pleasant bottle of Sauvignon. The staff were very friendly and chatty and there was a good ambience. We will go back again soon.

Came up for lunch today and got seated back inside the pub! So lovely to eat inside again. They have a new menu which I found most inviting. I started with mixed olives followed by chicken and asparagus pie with mash and vegetables served with gravy! Followed by mixed luxury ice cream! Absolutely deliciousThe pub is situated on the edge of the village with marvellous walks in the surrounding areas! I recommend this pub without a moment of hesitation!

What a very well organised pub under the latest lockdown rules. But it feels so relaxed! The food was excellent and service to match. We have heard very mixed reviews about other pubs in Sarratt and only The Cock Inn was recommended- now we know why. Great job by the owner and staff. We will be back.

We visited the Cock for our first meal out post lockdown and were not disappointed. Great food and great service and we felt very safe at all times due to the COVID measures that were taken. The tipi is warm and covered so sitting outside was not an issue.

Our first trip to a pub garden and The Cock Inn did not disappoint. Really well set up within all the new guidelines. Great atmosphere and heaters in the new tipi, quick service on drinks and the food was delicious.A great family friendly garden as you can sit drinking in the tipi while the kids run round the garden and climb the trees! Visited the Cock Inn for a drink and some lunch on the first sunny Saturday back and couldn't have been more impressed. All tables clean and set at a safe distance and the witches hat shaped tipi looked amazing - will definitely be booking that soon! Pleased to see that all social distancing measures were adhered to, unlike some other local establishments.The queue system at the hatch to order drinks works super well, staff were all smiling under their masks and the service was super so quick our drinks arrived before the person ordering had sat down.The food at the Cock never disappoints, large portions or freshly cooked food and there's always countless options for different diets and family members.We can't wait to spend more of the summer in their beer garden.

I returned today after COVID restrictions were relaxed and had a meal in the tipi outside! It was so lovely to be able to return to the CockInn! I came with my Family and we had an enjoyable meal in the fresh air! It was busy in the tipi and on the outside tables. Most enjoyable lunch was had by all my Family!I recommend this establishment,it is on the edge of the picturesque village of Sarratt with delightful walks in the surrounding Chess valley. A pub not to be missed! I will be back very soon!

Had an amazing evening meal with another couple outside in a beautiful teepee. It had outdoor lighting, patio heaters, Christmas tree and lap blankets. Food was great and service too. We will be back!

Had lunch here today,first day after lockdown! I had roast turkey,pigs in blankets,parsnips,red cabbage,Brussels sprouts,roast potatoes and stuffing! Accompanied by cranberry sauce! Absolutely delicious! Then had three scoops of luxury ice cream,followed by a double espresso! I took my Family to The CockInn Sarratt for Sunday lunch today. We ate in their quaint old restaurant. The meals were excellent and the service was. Very attentive.I had the haddock and chips with mushy peas. The fish was exceptional and so very fresh. I followed with their home made bread and butter pudding with a scoop of clotted cream ice cream.Divine! The other adults had the roast beef,with cauliflower cheese,braised red cabbage,baton carrots and curly kale with a huge 6orkshire pudding and gravy! They all said how good their meals were. They followed with crime brûlée! Also first class! This pub is on the edge of Sarratt with delightful walks around the Chess Valley,if that is your thing.I commend this pub for the quality of meals and their superlative customer service.A delightful experience all round!We will,very definately,return as soon as possible!

Lovely traditional country Chilterns pub, they haven't gone all 'towny', fantastic well made food (Lambs liver with raspberry reduction and celeriac mash) , excellent real ale, friendly staff and a lovely Tipi in the garden !

Wow! Vegan Steak n Ale Pie... Jackfruit style! Amazing! Double cheeseburger Fantastic! And to finish off... Rhubarb and Custard with a scoop of Lemon Sorbet, (see pic). Friendly staff and dog friendly too! Oh, pups, two Akita’s aged 5 and 10, had the children’s chicken strips and a burger... with peas! Last minute trip after a hard week running our @Skill7FC Football Camps in Bushey, Cippenham and Stevenage. ⚽️Best choice ever!

We had a family meal in the Cock Inn in October 2020. After a lovely walk over fields from a nearby village, we were met by friendly staff and a lovely open fire. Both the food and service were excellent and our whole family enjoyed the occasion. The weather was a little wet, and we were able to dry our shoes by the fire. Of particular note, the landlady was extremely friendly and kind to our children, even giving them two costumes for Halloween! All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing afternoon and we will definitely come back. As an addendum, significant thought by the landlords must have gone into the covid precautions and should be applauded. Thank you

We held our wedding reception here in the barn area with it's beautiful old wooden beams and lovely atmosphere. The managers went out of their way to accommodate us, they were so kind and thoughtful. The food (roast dinners) was absolutely delicious and very generous portions. Thank you so much for making our day really special!!!

Met some friends for a birthday drink, one of my favourite local pubs - good selection of beers and nice meal....recommended

I had lunch yesterday at the CockInn Sarratt. They are doing a Best of British lunch menu for two weeks!I started with asparagus spears,baby leeks,bubble and squeak risoles in a hollandaise sauce . Absolutely delicious! My main course was belly of pork,which was lovely and lean,served with red cabbage,and bubble and squeak rissoles,and crispy crackling with apple sauce! Once again,absolutely delicious! My dessert was spotted dick with custard! Delightful! I followed with a double espresso! The whole experience was superb. The waiting staff are truly very customer focussed and nothing is too much trouble for them! There was a lovely welcoming roaring open fire to welcome the guests!A truly delightful experience and one I will repeat in the not too distant future!Management and staff at the CockInn,I salute you all!

Often visit The Cock with our cycle group. It is always reliable with good beer and food reasonably priced, friendly staff and plenty of space both inside and in the garden. It is our normal pub of choice in Sarratt and I would highly recommend it.

i Have used this pub for a number of years and always found a welcoming atmosphere . Good pub grub and a good pint. Great staff always friendly even with the current situation - just wave a flag to be served.

We had a delicious Sunday roast today - chicken & nut roast, both delicious and very generous portions. Particularly recommend the red cabbage and home made Yorkshires. Outstanding service and atmosphere - highly recommended!

Lovely Sunday lunch with the biggest Yorkshire puds. Also recommend the chocolate brownie for dessert. Great service and friendly staff. Will be back again.

A wonderful special British Food menu. Hard to decide what to have. Starter Scotch egg, walnut salad and wholegrain mustard. Perfect. Then the mackerel and vegetables, such flavour. As always a fantastic welcome and great team.

Went for a walk with my mum and decided to pop in for Sunday lunch. I had beef and my mum had the chicken- the food was good. Along with a couple of gin and tonics each. However what made this visit was the staff, they were absolutely fantastic. For this being our first visit we were made so welcome. I really could not fault the service, it made a great finish to our day out. Thank you so much to all of the staff!!

Lovely family lunch with 3 generations present. Everybody enjoyed their food from across the menu and the staff couldn’t do enough when a glass of wine was unfortunately spilt. The Covid 19 arrangements are working well and we felt safe. My fish and chips was top quality and very tasty. We will return.

I have been having lunch at this delightful pub regularly recently! It is situated on the edge of the Chess Valley and there are lovely walked to be had locally,if that is your kind of thing! I must say I have been extremely impressed with the ambiance and very attentive service from all the staff ! Service comes with a smile and you are felt most welcome.The food is lovely and come very well presented!I must mention Fiona,who I believe is the supervisor,she is superb at her job,most attentive and very personable. I commend her to the delightful licences!Altogether a most pleasant lunchtime experience is to be had here! I have become hooke on this place!

I visited The Cock Inn at Sarratt with my mum for lunch on 11th August. It's a lovely, country pub with a large beer garden and a traditional feel inside. It was the first time mum had been out since lockdown and so was quite nervous but we w ere both put at ease by all of the measures the pub has in place during the pandemic. We both loved our food and the truffle chips were incredible. Great service throughout our experience. Would highly recommend.

Lovely evening with family tonight! Had dinner in the bar which was dog friendly & staff very considerate & gave us a dog bowl. Staff friendly with very good covd friendly practices in place. Highly recommend the linguine & vegan burger along with lovely starters of tempura veg & deep fried Camembert! Lovely dog walks near by also with huge beer garden so a perfect evening out!

Lovely food, great staff. To be critical the cutlery barely did the job, struggled to even cut chicken! Club sandwich, less would really be more... too big to eat as a sandwich, too much fat on bacon. Don’t let this put you off nice pub lunch.

I had lunch at The Cock tod@y and it was a lovely experience! I had the pie of the day which was a steak pie with a flakey pastry topping! The pie was delicious with lovely tender chunks of meat with gravy. It came with mash carrots and peas. A lovely touch was a boat of gravy was sent out with the meal I washed it down with a pint of soda and lime . Followed by three scoops of ice cream and then a double espresso!I’ll be back very soon as I live just up the road. I’m booked for Sunday roast as well,which I’m told is not to be missed!

staff welcoming and helpful. Went to check it out for a meal for my dad later on in the week. He's 91 and struggles to walk but love his pub lunch here. Since covid not been out. highly recommend. Food very tasty but then it always is here.

We popped in for lunch after our ramble. It was our first visit to a pub after lockdown and were hesitant but needn't have been, everything was well organised. We received a warm welcome and the beer and food were both excellent.

Sunday lunch was excellent at The Cock Inn. Brilliant service by Alison and team and we were made to feel very welcome. Apple Crumble was delicious 😊 Would highly recommend!

The 13 of us had tables reserved in the barn - lovely building with plenty of natural light. Friendly staff flexible as to whether we ordered at the bar or via them (we were paying individually/as couples). We ordered a variety of dishes - some (like mine) light, others full-blown mains. All served attractively presented, generous portions - and quickly. I needed to leave the walk after lunch and there was no problem giving me details of a Chorleywood taxi company to take me to that station. That gave a good service too.

We went for Valentines dinner & were really impressed. Choosing from the special menu we shared the seafood platter as a starter & it was superb. A mix of individually cooked pieces of different fish, prawns, squid all cooked perfectly & presented beautifully. Mains of fillet steak & fish with elegant sides again all excellent. Great puddings, coffee & chocolates followed. All round a very enjoyable experience. Not forgetting it’s a very charming pub with very friendly & welcoming staff.

We are regular visitors to The Cock Inn, whether it be a family birthday, Christmas Meal , Sunday lunch or just for a quick drink! The food is always top quality with generous portions of fresh produce. The menu and specials have something for everybody and we are never bored of what’s on offer, would definitely recommend the fish and chips and their Sunday Roasts in particular!The staff are always attentive, personable and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable.There is a large outdoor area perfect for summers days, dog walkers and families alike.We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Cock Inn to anybody wanting to experience a traditional English Pub!

My best friend took me to lunch here for a pre-birthday meal. She had asked to be by the fire if possible and when we got there, a table for us was reserved with her name on a charming little blackboard by the inglenook fireplace and the gorgeous fire was crackling inside the open grate! The table already had cutlery and condiments on it and it was so wonderful to see glass bottles of sauces and not plastic. Seats very comfortable, lovely low ceiling, perhaps not quite so easy for tall humans but being short I wasn't bothered at all. It was lovely to be in a place which felt almost unchanged throughout the history or the area. We ordered the baked Camembert- no words to successfully describe- beautiful way of displaying with gorgeous Camembert on a wooden platter surrounded by rustic chunks of fresh crusty bread. The Camembert was backed with garlic, rosemary and drizzled with olive oil. A dream of heaven in the mouth! We followed that with fishermans pie which my friend said was the best she'd ever had and considering she is from Devon, obviously quite a statement!! I had the ham,egg and chips- thank you to the kitchen as this and quite a few of the main courses come in two sizes, regular and large,so I had the regular so as not to feel I couldn't eat a dessert. The way again it was presented was lovely with some fresh green salad. Superb chunky chips, large slice of ham and a fresh egg. To end this delicious meal we had the special which was Mocha Mess.This was absolutely gorgeous! The serving staff were very friendly and helpful and although around didn't make either of us feel rushed or overly attentive. The other patrons there at the time such nice people and if a regular came in, I got the feeling it was like a happy extended family and when we left we too felt that if we were to visit again we would be classed as part of that happy band. As my friend was paying, I have no idea of the total bill including our drinks but she was amazed when she came back from paying. She had expected to pay a great deal more!! For my part, I would say I can't praise The Cook Inn any higher and thank them very for their yummy contribution to what was an awesome birthday weekend. I want to come back in the summer to eat in what looked like a lovely garden surrounded by beautiful green fields! A pub and restaurant full of old fashioned charm and hospitality and a definate must for anyone in that area!

Phoned at 3pm to check they were still doing food. Said kitchen was open till 4 o'clock. 15 minutes later arrived to be told that because it was "dead" staff were let go and kitchen closed. What a waste of time driving there. Didn't even apologise. Very rude and if thats the level of courtesy they extend to guests, one can only assume they prepare the food with the same level of unprofessionalism. Poor

Food was excellent as was service even if we had a bit of a wait for one meal. We were all appreciative of being able to pay individually as there was a big range in the type of meals and courses each person had.Loved the atmosphere which is quaint and welcoming and glad the service and meals were to match.

We went to the Cock inn for a very short notice family lunch. They were very accommodating. Pleasant atmosphere in an ancient dining room with a reasonable menu and acceptable food quality as you would expect from a pub. It was very good value and the waiting staff were delightful and very patient.

Seven of use went to the Cock for a mid afternoon Boxing day meal and was very pleased with it. we would go back. Its worth booking as sometimes gets busy.
