We ordered a takeaway last night for the first time from Phoenix and were very disappointed. Chicken in black bean sauce was awful, no sauce to speak of, but a dark liquid. Chow mein had a most peculiar taste, almost like sauerkraut. Mine went straight in the bin. Sadly we won't be ordering again.

The lady taking my order was a sweetheart so it’s very unfortunate that I can’t share a better review. However, what they have as ‘roast chicken Chinese style’ is quite different from any I’ve ever had in the world and not in a good way 🫤 it’s just chicken breast in a weird cornstarch thickened sauce instead of having that nice crispy roasted skin that I’m used to. There was also bean sprouts in it which was a bit off putting for me. Additionally, I couldn’t finish the shrimp fried rice. The shrimp was clearly added to the rice after instead of being cooked together-the shrimp had no flavour and tasted like dirty water 🫠 I had to add soy sauce and sweet chili sauce just to hide the taste of it…but yea I definitely didn’t finish it. Maybe they were just having an off day, I don’t know. But at least the customer service is excellent 🤷♀️

On our first visit to a charming pub for my birthday, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere right from the moment we stepped inside. Not knowing what to expect, we shared a delightful mackerel pate, fresh and homemade, accompanied by bread and black olives—plenty for the two of us. For my main course, I chose the fish and chips, while my husband enjoyed a sea bass crab and lobster risotto. For dessert, we indulged in an apple and peach crumble with custard and an almond tart served with ice cream. The total bill came to £67, and as a careful spender, I can confidently say it was worth every penny. The food was extraordinarily fresh, the service was impeccable, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience.
