Went for a second time had the meze for two and was the worst meze I have ever eaten in my life. Front of house were excellent, but the food was so overdone it felt like it came from Weeley crematorium.

Had the bottomless brunch and loved it. Very tasty food and exceptional service. Pretty much worked our way through the cocktail menu as we were waited on attentively. Highly recommended 👌

Had my daughter’s 10th birthday here and it was absolutely brilliant! Vicki was wonderful answering my questions and arranging everything, and Rosie and the waiting staff were wonderful on the day, so accommodating and friendly, great with the kids and everything came out quickly and dietary needs were no problem, The food was fantastic too, great portion sizes for the kids meals and presentation was great, they all loved theirs and the adult meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. Really great value for money and my daughter was made to feel really special, can’t wait to come back for a quieter family meal very soon!

This was a simply amazing dinner. Had a great meal which was a mixed kebab and baklava for desert. Decent value for money as well.

We went for bottomless brunch which was delicious! Food was great, cocktails were continuous and service was fab! Great value for money! At the end the owner came over to ask how our experience was and just stayed for a chat... really lovely place! We'll definitely be returning, can't wait!

Firstly we visited this restaurant for the 1st time and was made very welcome from the start, our waitress ROSIE wad absolutely amazing she made our evening, she was kind caring and went above and beyond for us which I can honestly say I not come across in a very long time, the food was outstanding this restaurant deserves 10 stars not 5, thank you and we will be travelling from Hornchurch Essex just to visit your restaurant, xx

We had a wonderful plate smashing evening. Beautiful restaurant, clean, friendly staff, excellent food. The music and DJ was spot on. I’m vegan, and my food was excellent! I would definitely go back. Nothing negative to say about our evening.

Brilliant night out with family and friends here we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food was delicious and plentiful, atmosphere very inviting with aesthetically pleasing floral decor, just beautiful. Entertainment was 10/10 and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back for more.

We come for weekend away for partner birthday, staying at The Royal Hotel absolutely outstanding. Went for meal tonight at BIG FAT GREEK AND JUST WOW WOW WOW, food was absolutely gorgeous and outstanding, great value for money, service was outstanding with staff. Waitress DOM ROWE simply most lovely friendly and helpful Waitress, she a credit to your company 100%. We will be back for sure!!

Our food was fresh an beautifully cooked, my husband and I had fish, one sea bas and one salmon. Perfect. Helpful and friendly service. I recommend this restaurant.

The meat is good, but everything is very salty, small portions.

Very bad experience with this place. We visited the restaurant and the kids meals were served after 40 mins and twice complained about. Food is not good at all. And in the end they didn’t serve kids dessert (they’ve forgotten) and price in the bill for one of the dish was different than menu. Pray for attention from the waiter. Terrible. Never gonna go back.

Met by a great team, Dom Rowe really knew her stuff. Partners child has serious allergies and Dom went through all the options that were suitable and offered to make changes without even having to read the menu. Really impressive. Made my partners daughter feel confident eating.

My wife and I were visiting a friend in the area and on the Sunday were thinking of visiting Wetherspoons in Clacton on Sea. On the way, we walked past My Big Fat Greek, and I stopped and looked at the menu as they walked on. My wife wasn't really hungry, but as soon as I saw Sheftalia on the menu, I called them back, showed my wife, and she said that she'd love to go in as it's her favourite. When we entered, we had a warm greeting, were shown to a table, and sat down. We ordered drinks, Keo beer for me and my wife, and an orange juice mixed with diet Pepsi for our friend, which I call mud. Our order was taken, and the drinks arrived, followed by the owner who then chatted about the strange mud drink, asked about our order and when told about the Sheftali, told us it is his wife's families old recipe. Our meals arrived, Sheftalia for my wife, Kleftico for our friend and the mixed grill platter for me, which we then all polished off. Having spent 3 years in Cyprus, the Sheftalia brought back many old memories, and the rest of the food was fantastic, especially when washed down with Keo beer. We had a great meal at a good price in a very pleasant atmosphere. Many thanks to the owner, staff, and especially the chefs for a fantastic meal. I very highly recommend this restaurant.

My Big Fat Greek Taverna should be banned from selling food… It’s just too good…. So, you end up eating way too many beautiful lunches and dinners than your waistline is asking for. The great news too is that everything is reasonably priced so you can enjoy awesome food without breaking the bank – dangerous of course if you love food like me. I was there for a few days and sampled the most delicious starter I have ever had, Haloumi Fries…. never tasted anything so beautiful in my life as the cheesy fries are dipped in honey. White bait was a lovely alternative too, the next day, and the seafood crispies yet another delicious dish. There are vegetarian options which my wife likes but my target was the meat & fish. Main course on day one was Lamb Chops which I have had at Big Fat Greek Taverna before, and they were exactly as before – soft succulent & tender meat and no fat on them. Their flavour was pretty much perfect with the charcoal or BBQ techniques the chefs use. I chose chips and salad which was as expected, fresh and tasty. Baclava is as good as any I’ve tasted in the Mediterranean and a Vanilla ice cream was a perfect accompaniment. I also tried Seabass on one of the days which was fresh and extremely tasty after the usual fight with the bones and part of the fun. Cooked perfectly and again I opted for chips and salad and finished with a Chocolate Fudge Cake which I could not finish (only a mouthful left mind you) As well as all the gorgeous Greek food available the temptation for the amazing Full English Breakfast was too much and I went for this both days with a cheeky fried slice. Bacon, Sausages and Eggs cooked perfectly and tasted fresh remaining hot throughout consumption which is always tricky with a fry up. I vowed I should never go back to My Big Fat Greek Taverna again as I have only scraped the surface of that menu, but guessing my wife has other ideas and booked us in next month already. Generous portions, tasty well-presented food and staff that are friendly and enjoy working there. I noticed some even come in to socialise on their days off too. I better get exercising and create a little space for more and more trips to - My Big Fat Greek Taverna.

Being a vegetarian I always find it hard to find restaurants that can provide delicious, varied and filling food. At Big Fat Greek Taverna I not only found an array of options to choose from but they also provided gluten free options too. I had meat eaters in my party and everyone was very well catered for - they ordered fish, chicken and steak. They said all dishes were cooked to perfection. Even the side dishes are well prepared, for example the fries are divine not the frozen chips straight from a packet. We even ordered an extra bowl. Lastly the Halloumi fries are to die for! I ate there for 2 evenings and the food did not disappoint on either occasion. I advise you go hungry as all 3 courses are delicious. Make a day of it in Clacton. Daytime by the beach and when you are hungry treat your tastebuds to some truly scrumptious food. I plan to go back again in November.

i never do reviews but this had to be done. i love greek food and i love good service. this restaurant has both. me and my boyfriend came all the way from north west london and i will be coming again! the interior is absolutely beautiful. the menu has so much variety too for picky eaters like me and as someone who has lived in cyprus i can say this was a home away from home food! service was great, food was great and it's right opposite the pier and beach so it's a lovely seaside location for a londoner!

These were the worst mussels I've eaten. In my opinion, it's like a child was cooking. The most delicious thing we ate here was beer😂

but the food was appalling 2 years ago it was really nice to come here for food but tried it on Sunday again and it was horrible , partner and I ended up feeling sick from it not the same food as it was 2 years ago , but the waitress was really understanding of the situation

Lovely atmosphere and decor very cozy. Set in a prime location. Staff are friendly but did feel a little watched over. The dinner was lovely the slow cooked lamb was really nice, chips very nice and the deserts a amazing. The food I felt was overpriced though for the portion sizes. The breakfast is not nice however bacon was burnt, the breakfast was tiny and for 9 pounds you would expect more sausage was plain and burnt. I expected better for breakfast and definitely not worth 9 pounds. I would return but hopefully they change the portion sizes Atleast.

Had the best time at My Big Fat Greek Taverna 🍹 we started our weekend with the cookery class run by Georgie, we cooked a 3 course meal in the Thermomix machine and enjoyed delicious cocktails, excellent experience enjoyed every minute, then back the next day for The Bottomless Banquet again amazing food and cocktails, beautiful restaurant and lovely staff can’t wait to return

As I walked in with my family, we were confronted by a woman sitting at a table. She began screaming at us, "GO, GO, GO!" Confused and alarmed, I thought the shop must be closed. An employee approached us, and I asked him, "Why is that lady trying to kick us out? Is the restaurant closed? Is she the boss?" To my shock, he replied, "We don't know her, and the shop is open," then turned away without inviting us to sit or addressing the woman's behavior. He offered no apology, effectively condoning the discrimination we faced in their establishment. I wouldn't recommend anyone visit this place unless they have no problem being bullied and discriminated against by other customers. I only can give 1 star for the reviews but if I could I would give -1000 for their service and atmosphere…

Fabulous food, freshly cooked. Nice decor. Large restaurant. Service by Ainoha was fantastic, made me feel welcome from start to finish. The wine was the only thing that wasn't good, but I really enjoyed the food. I only had a glass of house white, so what did I expect? Hummous could have had a glug of high quality extra virgin olive oil, but that's just me always wanting more! The restaurant was empty while I was there, I went Sunday afternoon. I was very pleased I ate there. Much better than my last experience in Prezzo!

Great service today from Ellie & Elsie. They go the extra mile. Food was cooked to perfection, been around 6-7 times and go every time we’re in Clacton and always had a great meal with my family. Also, the chefs are very honest and friendly.

Out at Braintree village and restaurant looked busy and have wanted to try it for a while - we had these lunch option and the food was fair but the main chicken skewer was cold as was the Mediterranean rice - the larger I had was luke warm not chilled - the service on the whole was good and attentive.

Amazing experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming from start to finish. The food was delicious and the cocktails we had were amazing. We had Halloumi, Dolmades, shefitalia, King prawns in garlic butter and Baklava-- everything was so tasty and fresh. Stand out cocktail was definitely Peaches and Cream! Definitely worth visiting! We can't wait to come here again!

We went here yesterday for a birthday and it did not disappoint, its so much bigger and better inside than it looks from outside , decor was great staff were great atmosphere was great, food was very nice and considering we were a table of about 40 to 50 people the it all came out hot and relatively together. Cannot fault this place, would highly recomend

Had a great weekend at the royal in Clacton. The food was excellent. Lovely chargrilled flavour. Jay and The staff make this hotel. They are warm and friendly and cannot do enough for you. Would always go back.

Went here and have to say I was wholly disappointed, the waitress was polite and efficient but had to give us a list of things they didn’t have ( lamb, squid, chicken skewers,) we opted for pork souvlaki with rice. The pork was tough and more than a little chewy ( thankfully the amount of meat was tiny,) so didn’t have to chew long. The rice looked and tasted like microwaved rice and was tepid and stuck together in dry clumps. My wife had Dolmedes starters and the vine leaf was crispy and undercooked, she did however enjoy the cocktail she had which was well made, unfortunately this didn’t make up for the food.

Starter was a joke for portion, mixed kebab came out as mixed grill, but then changed. Meal was warm to cold at best. Seemed alot of staff but orders seem to take ages, either food or drinks.

Hopeless starters. Only one out of two mains was up to standard. Atmosphere was poor. Service was awful..... All of the waitresses gathered at the bar for a natter between courses. My advice - give this place a miss.

I don’t normally put reviews but this how disappointed Me and my family were. We love Greek food but the food not the quality warranting the price. Tasteless food and nothing Greek about it. Expected a lot more as the place looks nice. Had better meals at McDonald’s. Hope the place improved but I don’t think il be visiting them again.

Appalling food. Poor management. £25 per head. We are here today for Mother’s Day lunch. It was a set menu without any Greek food. The set menu was standard English pub food. Roasts with veg, deserts and/or entree. We both ordered the roast chicken breast. I advised I was gluten free and dairy free. My main arrived - with a Yorkshire pudding on it and an awful overcooked and dried out chicken breast. All the roast veg was room temperature- not hot! I asked for replacement meal - of beef instead. And without the Yorkshire pudding.! Was told to keep my meal and they brought a plate with 2 slices of roast beef. These were ok (but not good). Even worse, when dessert arrived of Gluten free/dairy free brownie it was supposed to come with dairy free ice cream as per the menu description! When it arrived I was then told they didn’t have dairy free ice cream! It’s not like they had run out.. we had arrived at 12pm lunch. The caffeine free coffee was very bitter/tasted like out of date coffee. We won’t be back. Was very disappointed about the awful food, lack of care about dietary needs and they didn’t even offer any compensation!

Lovely looking place very deceiving when you walk past from outside it looked closed but when you go inside they ola e is pretty cool. They food was much to be desired.

We had the best night ever. 15 of us, including 6 under 12s and 3 teenagers. The food was delicious, everyone totally satisfied. Our 10 year old grandson said the chips were amazing, best he's ever had lol. Also the cotton candy mocktails went down a treat with the children. Equally the cocktail tree was Brill. All the staff were happy and friendly. Big shout out to Rosie who went above and beyond with the children. Made our evening one of the best we have ever had.

What a fabulous restaurant! We have already booked to return for Mother’s Day. I booked for a surprise gathering for my Mums birthday and everyone said how amazing the food was and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. A special thank you to Ellie who was fabulous at responding to endless questions and supporting me with all the plans. Thank you all again for a fabulous experience and delicious food.

We stayed at the hotel and had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs in the morning. It was so good and great service. We also had dinner in the evening which was also lovely. If you are in Clacton, recommend a visit.

Galentines brunch with the bestie for her birthday day. Amazing food and cocktails were delicious. Atmosphere was great. Music through out evening not to loud either could still hold a conversation. Would like to give a big shout out to our waitress Emily. She was very polite kept the drinks coming and was great to talk to super friendly made the evening special. Had a decent meal here, The staff 1st of all our waitress was very very attentive and helpful. Meal was OK we had chicken Souvlaki. Personally feel the Halloumi was well overpriced at £7 something for 2 slices. Think the drinks were overpriced too but all in all decent enough for a date night

Wow - such amazing food ! We decided to share 2 dishes to get the best experience - lamb kelftico - best lamb ever like a roast dinner with rice ! - Mixed grill platter with fries- all the meat was fantastic!

We celebrated our diamond wedding with around 30 people. Everything about the evening was excellent. The food, staff and music was great. We could not have been better treated, nothing seemed to much trouble. All our guests had a great time. Special diets were catered for with no issues.

Had a great night here last night for our work Christmas meal. The food was lovely and the staff, even though rushed off their feet were absolutely brilliant, especially Daisy who was very attentive. She really looked after us always checking to make sure we were all OK or if we needed anything. Real credit to her employers. I’m looking forward to coming here again soon.

Came here for our staff Christmas party, food was amazing, the lamb shank was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We had quite a few cocktails, all looked and tasted lovely. Portion sizes were very generous. There was a young girl singing, she was good, would have been nice if she would have done a longer set as we enjoyed the live music. Staff all nice, overall a lovely evening out.

Works xmas party entertainment was a few xmas songs through a speaker no entertainment as promised food was bad really dry not even a xmas cracker waited an hour for food then thrown out at 10pm what a great night have now got to wait a year for next one not here though

Went out tonight with my work colleagues for our Christmas party food came out and to be hounest we had all ordered prior to our visit and some of the starters were burns almost inedible. .Then came the mains no better unfortunately only two meals out of nine were good ...The drinks were over priced and qued for 25 minutes . An experience the I won't rush to repeat shame because it had been recommended. Unfortunately I won't be doing the same.

Second visit here, first time on a very hot day & really enjoyed it. We recommended to friends that have recently moved here sadly this wasn't so great. We had to keep asking for drinks, food to be ordered and more drinks later. The restaurant was busy when we arrived & we had a table by the door. It was freezing, so after about an hour & when there were a few vacated tables, we asked if we could move & were told no the restaurant was fully booked. Although, one by one, the tables were empty with no more sittings. A little thing that would have made a big difference. Great food but won't be back in the winter.

Me and my good lady had the Meze dining experience! And it really was an experience.. by far one of the best meals we had for a long time and the staff were amazing… highly recommend

Wasent very nice , food ordered to my family were under cooked , spent 5 hours in there , 2 hors was waiting to be served , 2 hours waiting for food then was under cooked , not everyone was served at the same time , others had to wait 45 mins Sorry but won't be eating here again

We were here for an 80th birthday party. The experience was well under par. Firstly this place had a flat atmosphere. Other Greek places I have been have been vibrant full of energy and fun. If this place didn't have Greek in the name I would never had guess it was a Greek restaurant. The food was well below average and the quality for the price was not worth it. I had a mixed grill and to be honest the mixed kebab I have had from my local kebab shop was 10x better. I had to wait around 30-40 minutes for my food as something went wrong so there was me and two other people eating our food while everyone was sitting there with empty plates when our food finally came out. The second more concern was my daughters food. She had a burger and it came out undercooked. We sent it back and another one was sent out but again it was undercooked. After the second time she was put off and we changed it to a hot dog which was better but not fantastic but at least it was cooked. On a plus the staff were very polite but it definitely not a place I will be going back to part with my money when I have a kebab van near me that does better food.

We love it here. EVERYONE is SO lovely and welcoming and the food is soooo good 😊.

3 of us, we all enjoyed our food, it was lovely, all delicious Kleftiko, dolmades, garlic King prawns, dips and warm pitta, Chicken souvlaki, couldn't fault anything, good portions and value for money. Service was great, had a great evening dining here. Just 1 thing is the price of the drinks were alittle over the top.

We 3 all agreed on how lovely the food was, Kleftiko,( the lamb was melt in the mouth,) chicken souvlaki, dolmades, warm pitta with dips, garlic King prawns, all delicious couldn't fault it, all good portions great value for money. We only got 1 photo of food as we couldnt wait to tuck in.......Staff were great, polite, cheerful friendly, we will be back next time in Clacton. The only 1 thing we found was the drinks were overly priced £2.50 for a pint of lime and soda, £5 for bottle beer (half pint) £7 for daught pint lager.

This is the best Greek taverna that we have been to, even beats the originals in Greece. Superb ambiance, you would really think that you have been transported over to Greece. Food was amazing all the way through 3 courses, staff are well turned out...

Slow service. Average prices. My husband's tenderloin was overcooked and I couldn't find the mince in my stuffed vine leaves. When I qestioned it they said it was ground very finely. So finely that it disappeared! However the crumble was delicious. Unfortunately we probably won't...

My family and I come down for the Clacton airshow every year and always have dinner here on the Thursday. We booked this year as it is so popular and to guarantee that we got a table as last year we hadn't booked but the owner was good enough to fit us in. The food is very tasty and filling. This year we even had cocktails. The kiddies menu is good value for money and my 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed her main, side and free ice-cream. My son and I both had kleftiko which is very tasty and succulent and we highly recommend this. My daughter had the moussaka and really enjoyed thst too. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

the food wasn't that bad, but if you've been to Greece, you'll see the difference the greek salad wasn't made fresh because it had a lot of water in it, the origano salt, tomato and vinegar were missing, the pita wasn't original as it is served in greece...
